CHAPTER 25
1999
First Beach was blasting with music as everyone awaited for the fireworks as New Year's Eve party as going on. Bella stood with Edward's arm around her shoulders. The best fireworks display was about to go off at midnight. Bella looked over to see Emmett and Rosalie by the food table. Rosalie looked amazing in her black 1-shoulder black dress with cutouts on the left side and red satin flats. Next to her was Tanya dressed in a silver sparkling bust tube dress with flowy black layered skirt and black pumps. The only girl in high heels though they were at the beach She had hooked her claws in Tyler Crowley much to Lauren's dislike.

The song "1999" - by Prince was loud, but had beach filled with dancing people. Alice was in a strapless red dress with black flats as well dancing Jasper who was in a red suit to go with his girl. Mrs. Cullen was dressed in a black off the shoulder dress with red skirt and allover black polka dots and black kitty heel shoes dancing with Dr. Carlisle in a black suit with a red tie. Bella felt a bit over dressed in her light blue strapless sweetheart neckline long dress with silver glitter ballet flats, unlike Angela who was dressed in a forest green dress with crossover shirt with her black flats dancing the night away with Ben who finally asked her out for NYE.
"What's wrong Bella?"
"Everyone is wearing a shorter dress, while Alice has me in this gown!" Bella picked at her long skirt. Edward chuckled.
"It's not a gown, it's a longer dress."
"I feel like some princess."
"Well you are my princess. And my queen, and my everything." Bella looked up at Edward. "Besides, I love this dress."
"You do?"
"Of course, come on."
Edward pulled Bella away from the crowd. He took her to a quiet, more secluded part of First Beach away from the hot live DJ music. The fireworks won't be going off for another 20 minutes, as it nears midnight.
"Edward, why are we all the way out here?"
"I didn't get you everything I wanted to give you this year."
"What? You have given me everything a girl could dream of!"
"Not everything." Edward pulled out a black ring box. Bella gasped. Edward wanted to give Bella this ring before midnight, a promise and true commitment to her. It was an opal promise ring. The ring was beautifully made of a rose gold plated ring with pink opal heart-shaped stone.
"Oh my god, Edward. It's beautiful." Edward smiled.
"It's my promise to you."
"Please tell me you didn't spend so much money," Bella said.
"I didn't. It was my mother's. Esme has several jewelry pieces my mother saved. I guess she was smart enough to give them back to her sister before she lost them to drugs." Edward took the ring out of the box.
"Are you sure you want to give me this ring?"
"There is no other girl, or other person better than you Bella. And I want you to wear this. Take of my heart, I'm leaving it with you. I love you."
"I love you too." Bella smiled as Edward slid the ring over her middle finger. It fit perfect. Bella held the ring out as she looked at her. Edward smiled. That ring and that dress, Edward felt Bella looked like an angel. Bella leaned up and kissed Edward.
Edward and Bella were in the middle of the crowd as the countdown to midnight started. Everyone was holding sparklers, counting down as Bella was in Edward's arms. Bella watched the night skies erupt with colorful fireworks. Edward cupped Bella's face with one hand when she finally looked at him. His thumb caressed her cheek.
"Happy New Year Bella."
"Happy New Year Edward." He leaned down and kissed her. "There is a saying when the person you kiss at midnight is your true love, you will never be alone again."
"Did you read that somewhere?" Bella chuckled. She nodded. "Well then it must be true." Edward kissed Bella again.
"Happy New Year Bella!" Alice yelled, before she broke apart Edward and Bella to hug Bella. Edward sighed. Everyone went around wishing everyone a happy new year. "This is going to be the best year ever!"
