A few days pass and now is the day for Jane to go see a counselor. Jane was clearly nervous as they sat down in the counselor's office waiting. Jane couldn't sit still. She was bouncing her leg and biting her nails. "Honey." Maura says reaching for her wife's hand. "Its okay, I'm here." "Relax sweetheart." Maura says softly rubbing her thumb over Jane's knuckles."I'm sorry Maur." Jane says lightly squeezing her wife's hand.

"Hello ladies." A strong male voice said as the door closed to the office. "I'm Dr. James Blanchard." The tall man said holding out his hand to Jane. "I'm Jane and this is my wife Maura." She stated taking the doctors hand. "Its nice to meet you both." James said with a smile. "So Mrs. Rizzoli where would you like to start today?" "We can discuss anything you like whenever you are ready."

Jane smirked "Can we talk about baseball and how the Sox's beat the breaks off of the other team last night?" "Seriously Jane?!" Maura said slapping Jane's arm. Jane could only laugh. "What?!" Jane said innocently. "He said I could talk about anything." Jane spoke with a smile. Maura and the doctor couldn't help but laugh. Maura was glad that Jane had felt comfortable enough with her there to make jokes it was a good sign but Maura knew that this was Jane's way of deflecting away from the things she didn't want to talk or think about.

"I have been informed by your wife that you have been dealing with quite alot since the accident." The doctor spoke. Jane sighed and reached for Mauras hand. "Yeah, uh, I- I'm having nightmares from it." Jane said lowering her head to avoid the doctors gaze. "Would you like to discuss them?" The doctor questioned making sure not to push Jane to quickly. Jane sat silent for a few moments thinking over the question.

This question meant having to go over the details of that horrible day and exposing her wife to her pain inside and out. But also having to explain what her nightmares consist of which she hadn't told Maura about yet.

"How about this instead." James spoke. "How about you just tell us how you felt that day, what was going on inside your mind?" "We can always come back to the nightmares another day." "Would you prefer that instead?" James asked cautiously. Jane didn't speak for a few more seconds. "Jane, sweetheart?" Maura called to her. Jane lifted her head to meet her wife's gaze. "It's okay love you don't have to rush." "Dr. Blanchard and I are here for YOU take as much time as you need theres no rush sweetie." Maura said softly to her wife.

The last thing she wanted was for Jane to feel pressured. Jane cleared her throat before speaking. "I- I was okay when my team and I first entered the room but that changed instantly once I seen the suspect holding a gun to a little boy." "And what did you think at the moment you seen the little boy?" James asked. "I - I." Jane had to take a minute to gather herself as the upset of that day came rushing back.

"My mind went blank for a minute seeing him so scared." "It made me think of o-our son." Jane admitted trying her hardest to fight back her tears. "All I could think about was how I needed to protect him, take him out of harm's way much like the way I would for my own son." "And how did you do that?" James asked sincerely giving Jane a minute to gather her thoughts. "I did the only thing I knew how to do." Jane spoke trying her best not break down.

Maura could see it in Jane's eyes that she was going to lose it any minute so she pushed her chair closer to her wife and wrapped her arm around her in comfort while still holding her hand with the other. "And what was it that you did?" Asked James. "I- I put myself in harm's way." "I made her take me instead." "I didn't think about my wife or my son." Jane paused. "I didn't think of anything except protecting him." "And after the suspect had you what were you feeling or thinking.? The doctor asked.

"I didn't regret saving the little boy and I never will." Jane admitted. "But, I regretted handling the situation the way I did." "Once she had me and I felt the impact of the two hits to my head and the cold of the gun in my side." Jane paused briefly. "Once I felt that, I regretted telling my team to leave, I regretted not taking her out the way I was trained." "I regretted the promises I made to both my wife and son that I didn't think I would be able to keep." Jane squeezed her wife's hand and she could no longer hold back her emotions.

It broke Mauras heart to see her wife trembling with the sobs she let out. The doctor remained quite and let Maura comfort her wife. Maura quickly stood and then knelt between Jane's legs and wrapped her arms around the almost inconsolable brunette. "I'm so so sorry Maura." "I didn't think of how or what it would do to you or our family if I didn't make it. " Jane said through her sobs. "Shhh baby, it's okay." "Let it all out sweetie." Maura spoke softly and held her wife while they both shed tears. As the tears slowed Maura wiped away Jane's tears and stood up to wipe away her own.

Maura sat back in her chair and rubbed circles on her wife's back. The doctor waited a few more minutes before speaking wiping away his own tears that weld up in his eyes. "That seems to be a good stopping point for today Jane. James says standing up. "I will put you down for two days from today." "Although it may not seem like it, you made great progress today Jane." James says patting Jane's shoulder. Maura and Jane both stood still sniffling. "Thanks doc." Jane says putting out her hand for him to shake. "No thanks needed Jane this is what I'm here for." James said with a smile shaking Jane's hand and then Mauras.

The car ride back home was filled with silence. Jane was tired from the effects of the counselor vist. It drain her more then she thought was possible. Maura knew Jane was tired she just wanted to get her wife home and lay with her. Once back home Jane grabbed a beer out of the fridge and wine for Maura. After a few more minutes of silence Jane finally spoke.

"Maur, I'm sorry about today." Maura sat her wine down and walked over to her wife wrapping her in a tight embrace. "Don't be sorry sweetie." "You have nothing to be sorry for." Maura says sweetly. Jane pulls back just enough to look into hazel eyes. "You are too good to me Maura." Jane says placing her forehead on her wife's. "I love you." Jane says softly. "I love you too baby." Maura says smiling. Jane pulled her in for a very passionate kiss that wound up with them leaving a trail of clothes up to their bedroom where they stayed the rest of the night. All that could be heard was moans, sighs and giggles.
