Chapter 27: Screams of the Siren
Omi faces Jack Spicer in a Xiaolin Showdown for the Gills of Hamachi, a Shen Gong Wu that allowed the user to breathe underwater.
Jack skated around Omi, who was sitting on the floor and looked a bit dizzy.
"I have asked for knife throwing lessons and mum said skating."Jack bragged. "You never know when it comes in handy and now I feel kind of bad of making a robot out of her juicer."
"That Spicer kid sure has nice form."Dojo complemented.
"Whooo, lookee there!"Clay stated. "Triple salchow!"
Raimundo, Kimiko, Alice and Dojo looked at Clay with odd looks.
"What?"Clay asked. "Cowboy's can't figure skating?"
"Come on, Omi!"Raimundo called out. "Just because you're built like a hockey puck doesn't mean you have to skate like one!"
"Jack Spicer, your fancy spinning may impress the crowd, but it will not win you the Gills of Hamachi!"Omi stated.
Omi carefully jumped on the ice pieces in order to prevent him from falling down.
"But this will, ice ball!"Jack said smugly.
Jack used the Jetbootsu to walk up an icy cliff to reach the Gills of Hamachi.
"The Gills of Hamachi are ours!"Wuya laughed in triumph.
Omi became upset and banged his fist on the ice cliff which made it receive a small crack causing an idea to pop in his head.
"Orb of Tornami, WATER!"Omi chanted.
Omi used the Orb of Tornami to destroy the cliff which caused Jack to fall.
"DANG YOU, OMI!"Jack screamed as he fell down. "DANG YOU!"
Omi jumped up the broken ice cliff and claimed the Gills of Hamachi which ended the showdown.
Clay, Alice, Raimundo, Kimiko and Dojo cheered at Omi's victory.
A Jack-Bot picked up Jack and brought him next to Wuya.
"Your useless prancing cost us three Shen Gong Wu!"Wuya said angrily.
"I am an artiest, I communicate with my feet."Jack replied.
"If I had feet, I'd communicate all over you."Wuya retorted.
"With the Gills of Hamachi, we will be able to breath underwater."Omi remarked and notice something. "Hello?"
The Xiaolin Warriors see a beautiful girl frozen in the ice.
The girl had golden blonde hair and wore a sea green bikini top. The bottom part of her was trapped by the large chunk of ice.
"What is that?"Dojo asked.
"I'll go check."Alice insisted.
Alice swam in the frozen water and gasped when she lifted up the female figure's head.
"It's a girl!"Raimundo said with a smile. "Someone should jump in to help Allie to save her."
Raimundo placed his foot on the water and shivered a little, feeling how cold the water was.
"Someone with a lot of body fat."Raimundo suggested.
"Or someone with ah flotation-device fer a head!"Clay added.
Clay pushes the cowardly bot into the water to help Alice save the girl.
Raimundo shivered and swam next to Alice.
"Easy, let's get her out of this Popsicle pinata."Raimundo murmured.
Raimundo breaks the girl free from the ice chunk, revealing a mermaid tail that was connected to the girl.
Clay, Kimiko, Omi, Dojo and Alice became stunned.
They found a real mermaid!
"Whoa! Where I come from girls don't have fins."Clay admitted.
"A real mermaid."Dojo said with a smile. "It's been a while since I've seen one of these."
Alice swam out of the water and went back to the others.
"And my brother told me, mermaids weren't real."Alice muttered as she twisted her ponytail.
The mermaid coughed a little and looked at Raimundo.
"My name is Dyris."the mermaid answered gently. "And you...you risked this freezing water to rescue me?"
"Well, you know they say I'm kind of a rebel."Raimundo bragged.
Raimundo blushed seeing how pretty Dyris was while Kimiko frowned in jealousy and Alice simply rolled her eyes.
"Dyris!"
The five monks and Dojo notice an angry ancient warrior behind them causing Dyris to gasp in shock.
"Oh no!"Dyris gasped.
"Glove of Jisaku!"Clay chanted.
The small explosives were coming close to the Glove of
"No!"Dyris shouted. "They're explosives!"
"Ju-Ju Flytrap!"Kimiko chanted.
Clay and Kimiko defend Dyris by using the Glove of Jisaku and the Ju-Ju Flytrap.
The warrior leapt up to strike down Dyris.
"Komori Sword, ICE!"Alice chanted.
Alice used the Komori Sword to sent ice shards at the warrior.
"Sword of the Storm!"Raimundo chanted.
Raimundo used the Sword of the Storm to make the warrior be blown away by the wind.
Then a Jack-Bot grabbed the ancient warrior and takes him to Jack.
Dojo grows big causing Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, Clay and Alice to go on his back.
"Who was that unattractive and truly frightening man?"Omi asked.
"His name is Klofange."Dyris answered. "His been chasing me as long as I can remember. The last time we met, he had me cornered. There was no way, I thought I could survive. But then the avalanche trapped us and froze us in time until you saved me."
"But why is he chasing you?"Raimundo asked. "There are other mermaids in the sea."
"Actually there aren't."Dyris replied sadly. "I'm the last one."
"That ugly no good snake!"Clay scowled and cracked his knuckles. "Hunting down a lady like yourself almost makes Jack Spicer look decent."
"Not everyone is such a true gentleman."Dyris flirted with a smile.
Clay blushed at Dyris respond.
"Well, just flip yourself aboard the Dojo express and we'll take you out of here."Dojo suggested.
"Oh, thank you."Dyris responded with a smile and became sad. "But I can't. I have to stay submerged into water. It's a mermaid thing."
"So what can we do?"Alice questioned. "It's not like we have a floating pool of water with us."
A light bulb popped up above Omi's head.
"I have the most brilliant idea!"Omi declared brightly.
Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, Clay, Alice and Dyris ride in Dojo's mouth after Omi used the Orb of Tornami to fill it with water.
"Don't worry."Raimundo assured. "He brushes everyday."
"Here."Omi said and handed the Orb of Tornami to Dyris. "You can use the Orb of Tornami to keep you moist."
"You are smart."Dyris flirted and lifted up Omi's chin. "Is there anything you can't do?"
A blush crept up on Omi's face as the young boy shook his head.
Kimiko and Alice looked at each other with frowns on their faces.
At the Xiaolin Temple...
The five monks returned to the Xiaolin Temple as the sun was setting down.
Both Kimiko and Alice were unhappy with Omi, Clay and Raimundo since they were obeying and helping Dyris out.
Alice glanced at Dyris, who was relaxing at a small pool that the boys created for her.
"Hmm...Dyris seems to have a real talent manipulating silly boys."Alice commented in suspicion. "But I have my own talents."
Then Alice sat down next to Dyris while eating a homemade slice of Dundee cake that lied in a small tray that contained two cups of Nilgiri tea.
"How does a girl like you come to a temple filled with boys and which boy do you fancy the most?"Dyris asked.
"None of them."Alice replied kindly as she took a sip from her cup of tea. "They're just friends."
"Of course, they are."Dyris responded with a smirk.
Alice used her free hand to move the other tea cup up and Dyris quickly caught it before it hit the ground.
"Good reflexes."Alice complemented.
"Thank you."Dyris answered gently.
Dyris 'accidentally' dropped the tea cup causing it to crush on the floor.
"Oops."Dyris said and covered her mouth. "I am so sorry."
"It's okay."Alice assured with a fake smile. "I'll clean it up."
Alice bent down to pick up the broken cup pieces.
The Dragon of Ice gave Dyris a big grin before walking away with the tray while quietly growling in anger.
Later that Night...
Alice was carefully gluing together the pieces to fix the broken tea cup.
"Good thing I didn't use my aunt's valuable Vienna Rose cup."Alice retorted grimly. "I would've pulled off her tail."
Then Alice picked up her phone to contact Daniel.
"Hey, Danny."Alice greeted.
"Hey Allie, what's up?"Daniel asked.
"Surprising news."Alice admitted. "We just found a mermaid who was buried in a chunk of ice with a warrior that has been chasing her."
"A mermaid?!"Daniel said in astonishment. "I find that hard to believe."
"It's true."Alice replied simply. "But she is giving me the heebie-jeebies. The boys love her except me and Kimiko."
"She must be really pretty then."Daniel chuckled.
Alice glared and cleared her throat.
"Anyway I need information about her."Alice stated. "Her name is Dyris."
"Let's see..."Daniel started and then spoke up. "I got no information of a mermaid called Dyris. The only thing that came up is an ancient siren monster. It's weird. The creature has the same name like the mermaid you guys found."
Alice paled at what Daniel just told her.
"Allie?"Daniel said. "Your okay?"
"Umm...yeah."Alice answered. "I am totally fine. Call you later."
Alice ended her call and slowly stood up from bed.
The pink haired girl let out a panicking shriek and ran out of her room.
"Guys! Guys!"Alice panicked. "Guys!"
Alice ran out of the Xiaolin temple, only to crash into Kimiko, Clay, Raimundo and Omi.
"Raimundo?"Omi asked.
"Kimiko?"Clay asked. "Allie?"
"Omi?"Raimundo asked.
"Clay?"Kimiko asked.
Alice notice the items that Omi, Raimundo and Clay were holding.
"What are those stuff for?"Alice questioned.
"I was going to see if Dyris needed more water in her tub."Omi responded as he picked up the small bucket.
"I'll take care of that."Raimundo assured and took out two sponges. "I'm giving her a couple of sponges anyway."
"I thought the little lady could use a late night fish snack."Clay admitted and held out two pink fishes.
"Is anyone else feeling the weirdness here?"Kimiko asked.
Just as Alice opened her mouth to tell her friends of what she discovered, a big red beam destroyed a part of the Xiaolin Temple.
Jack was attacking the Temple with his Jack-Bots.
"Oh tell me he was watching that?"Jack asked hopefully.
"Focus Jack!"Wuya reminded. "Worry about your special friend later!"
"Jack-Bots, attack!"Jack ordered.
The Jack-Bots flew towards the five monks.
"A head on attack?"Kimiko said.
Kimiko, Clay, Alice, Raimundo and Omi quickly dodged the spinning Jack-Bots.
"Jack is trying to impress with a style is not even his."Alice responded in disproval.
"Now the air smells funnier than beans at a skunk night dinner."Clay commented.
Clay grabbed two Jack-Bots and destroyed them.
"Look!"Omi shouted.
The monks see Klofange running along the roofs to Dyris pool.
"I must save her!"Omi said.
"I'll save her!"Clay argued.
"I'm gonna save her!"Raimundo snapped.
The three boys began to argue about saving Dyris as Kimiko and Alice watched in disproval.
"Me and Allie will take the robots."Kimiko said simply.
"Yay!"Omi cheered.
"Boys are so silly."Alice muttered.
Omi, Clay and Raimundo ran off to save Dyris, leaving Kimiko and Alice to fight the Jack-Bots.
"Judolette Flip, FIRE!"Kimiko shouted.
Kimiko leapt into the air and took down several Jack-Bots with fire balls.
"Freeze Powder, ICE!"Alice yelled out.
Alice froze a bunch of Jack-Bots and they crushed down the ground which made them turn into tiny ice cubes.
Jack and Wuya watched the fight scene from behind one of the Xiaolin buildings.
"I really should've made them fire and ice proof."Jack commented.
A fire blast nearly hits Jack causing him and Wuya to back away.
"I'm glad you don't like Dyris either, Kim."Alice stated as she kicked away a Jack-Bot and destroyed another. "Because that mermaid is not what she appears to be."
"Well, she actually coached me on using my looks to charm the boys into doing my chores for me."Kimiko admitted in delight. "So I guess I like her now."
Alice sweat dropped at what she just heard.
Omi, Clay and Raimundo were running to save Dyris.
"I'll be the rescuer!"Omi argued.
"Oh yeah? I'll be!"Clay snapped.
"I'm going to be the hero!"Raimundo shouted.
Klofange jumped off the roof and started running toward Dyris pool.
"Prepare to suffer a humiliating-"Omi started.
Klofange traps Omi in a net.
"Defeat."Omi finished.
"Hold on, Dyris!"Raimundo called out. "I'll save you!"
Klofange entangled Raimundo and arrived at the pool, only to encounter Clay.
"Can't let you hurt the lady, partner."Clay said bravely.
Klofange used his staff to move Clay away from the pool and throw him into a statue.
"Seismic Kick, EARTH!"Clay chanted.
Clay sends the top of the statue towards Klofange, who sends him back at him.
Klofange looked inside the pool, but Dyris was gone.
"The mermaid be gone!"Klofange shouted.
Omi, Clay, Alice, Raimundo and Kimiko went behind Klofange.
The monks (minus Alice) were confused about Dyris disappearance because she was unable to walk.
"But how is that possible?"Omi asked. "How can she travel out of water?"
Clay throws the two fishes he had for Dyris away.
"There be yer lady."Klofange replied.
Klofange pointed at the water puddles on the ground which later became monstrous-like footprints that lead out of the temple.
"A monster, perhaps the most dangerous this world has ever seen."Klofange admitted.
Omi, Clay, Alice, Raimundo and Kimiko became shocked at the discovery while Alice let out a sigh.
"At least now I don't have to explain why Dyris is evil."Alice said in relief.
Then Jack and Wuya flew forward.
"Whoa! Whoa! Rewind!"Jack requested. "If she's a monster that means your a good guy? But I...you...alone time."
Jack and Wuya flew away as Klofange and the monks watched.
Inside the Xiaolin Temple...
Klofange told Omi, Clay, Alice, Raimundo and Kimiko the real story of Dyris.
"Yes."Klofange responded. "I hunts her like she says but it's to keep her from destroying the lot of us. She aims to flood the planet, ruling it from undersea. That mermaid beauty's fooled many a good man. But when she leaves the water, her true form be revealed. Tis something no man should have to see twice in one life-time. You, were lucky."
Then Dojo slithered into the room.
"WE'VE BEEN ROBBED!"Dojo cried out in shock.
Inside the Vault...
The five monks and Klofange rushed to the vault and discovered that Dyris has stolen three Shen Gong Wu.
"Looks like she bagged 3 of our Wu."Dojo stated. "The Tunnel Armadillo, the Golden Tiger Claws and Fist of Tebigong."
"How did she know about the Vault?"Omi asked.
"I, uh, may have mentioned it to her."Clay admitted. "But she said she never saw one before. Besides, wasn't there monk up there guarding it?"
"She kiinda got me to convince one of the boys to hand scrub all the bathrooms."Kimiko answered.
Alice scowled and face palmed at her best friend's mistake.
"She had me fill the Armadillo with sea water."Raimundo added. "I figured it was just aaaa rebel prank."
"Now it all makes sense!"Omi commented in realisation. "Dyris wanted to know which Shen Gong Wu would have the power to create giant volcanoes to melt the polar ice caps and flood the world."
This caused Raimundo, Kimiko, Klofange, Dojo, Clay and Alice to glare at Omi.
"I assumed it was idle chat chit."Omi responded and placed his hands up in defense.
"You sure you lot are the good guys?"Klofange asked.
"Usually."Alice answered with a shrug.
"But she still would have to drill close enough to the Earth's core to set off and earthquake."Kimiko commented. "No one could withstand the heat!"
This caused Dojo to let out a cough.
"Did I mention that the new Shen Gong Wu just revealed itself?"Dojo asked.
Dojo showed the five monks and Klofange the activated Shen Gong Wu in the Ancient Scroll.
"The Black Beetle."Dojo said. "It coats it's owner in a heat-resistant black body armour. And I kinda sort of told Dyris, where to find it. It just came up."
Klofange slammed his hand on the table.
"Just tell me where the beast went and I'll-"Klofange started.
"You must allow to make up for our foolishness."Omi insisted confidently. "We will haunt the monster together!"
Afterwards...
The monks, along with Dojo and Klofange, set off to find it before Dyris does.
The group rode on Dojo, who turned himself into a Viking longship to swim in the cold sea.
"Last stop, Artic Ocean!"Dojo announced. "Home of the Black Beetle and a coming cold! Achoo!"
"So where is it?"Kimiko asked.
"The Wu is lesson than a mile that way."Dojo answered and pointed at the ocean.
"Remember our foe is very slippery and very evil."Omi said and took out the Gills of Hamachi. "And very very pretty."
"Just try not to fall for her flirtation again, Omi."Alice reminded.
"Gills of Hamachi!"Omi chanted.
The Dragon of Water suddenly grows fins, gills and his skin turns green.
Omi gives his friends a thumbs up before diving underwater and sees a sunken ship.
"Black Beetle!"Omi remarked.
Omi grabbed the Black Beetle and was about to swim to the surface when he sees Dyris.
"Omi!"Dyris called out. "I hope you didn't believe all the terrible things that man said about me."
"Your so pretty."Omi said lovingly. "I did not believe."
"Too bad."Dyris stated with a smirk. "Time to say goodbye!"
Dyris takes the Gills of Hamachi from Omi and whacked him out of the ship using her tail.
Omi, now unable to breathe underwater, dropped the Beetle and swam for the far-away surface.
Dyris laughed evilly and swam away.
"I warn you!"Omi shouted. "I can hold my breath for a long time! Except when I'm talking!"
Suddenly Omi was taken into the Silver Manta Ray, which his friends were piloting it.
Omi coughed out the water from his mouth.
"Did you get the Black Beetle?"Kimiko asked hopefully.
"Does it look like I got the Black Beetle?!"Omi shouted.
"No."Raimundo responded with a frown. "It looks like you lost the Gills of Hamachi."
"I will not be defeated by a fish!"Omi vowed and smiled. "Even a pretty fish."
"You just did."Alice retorted.
"I marked her off your star berg."Klofange stated.
Omi, Alice, Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Raimundo looked at Klofange in confusion.
"That's your right."Klofange corrected.
"She's heading to the Tunnel Armadillo!"Raimundo said.
Suddenly, the Silver Manta Ray got under attack by Jack and his new Shark-bots.
Jack appeared on the small screen inside the Silver Manta Ray.
"Guess who's back at the right side?"Jack asked with a smirk. "And by that, I mean the wrong side. I'm with the evil mermaid!"
"Jack!"Kimiko protested. "She's a monster!"
"She's trying to rule the world by flooding it!"Alice warned.
"So? She's quirky."Jack responded dreamily and became serious. "Shark-bots, attack!"
The Shark-Bots launched forward and started biting the Silver Manta Ray.
"Those things are hungrier than a group fellas in a pie eating contest."Clay commented.
"Forget, Jack Spicer!"Omi replied. "We must stop the mermaid!"
Dyris was getting close to the Tunnel Armadillo.
"AH! Let me out of this machine!"Klofange demanded in anger. "She'll be getting away from me again!"
"No, my friend."Omi answered and took out the Serpent's Tail. "The mermaid is loose because of me and besides she has something of mine. And I would very much like it back! Serpent's Tail!"
Omi goes down to stop Dyris using the Serpent's Tail and placed on the Gills of Hamachi.
"Gills of Hamachi!"Omi chanted.
Omi changed into a sea green creature again as the Tunnel Armadillo began moving by itself.
Jack attacked the Silver Manta Ray with his squid sub along with his Shark-bots.
"We got to get rid of these sharks before they munch us to pieces."Alice said with a frown.
"I've got an idea!"Clay assured and took out the Glove of Jisaku. "Glove of Jisaku!"
"Yeah."Raimundo mumbled. "A bad idea! They're heading towards us!"
"Reversing Mirror!"Clay chanted.
Clay uses the Glove of Jisaku and the Reversing Mirror to move the Shark-bots towards Jack's sub.
Jack screamed in terror.
"Do something!"Wuya snapped.
Jack ejected just as the Sharks tear his submarine to pieces.
Meanwhile...
Omi and Dyris were fighting each other underwater.
"Your evil flood land won't happen!"Omi shouted.
Omi kicked Dyris in the face.
"Omi!"Dyris said with a hurtful look. "How can you be so mean?"
"I am so sorry."Omi apologised with a hypnotised look. "I-"
Dyris whacked Omi again with her tail.
"I can't believe you keep falling for that!"Dyris cackled evilly.
The Tunnel Armadillo headed up as Dyris and Omi glared at each other.
"It is time to separate the man from the fish!"Omi declared.
Dyris and Omi went on the Tunnel Armadillo just as it crashed inside an ice cave.
Omi notice the Shen Gong Wu inside the Tunnel Armadillo were gone.
"Where are the Shen Gong Wu?"Omi asked and notice the Black Beetle in the water. "The Black Beetle!"
Both Omi and Dyris put their hands on the Black Beetle causing a Xiaolin Showdown.
"Back away!"Dyris scowled. "It's mine!"
"No!"Omi said with a glare. "It's a Xiaolin Showdown!"
"I wager my Fist of Tebigong against your Gills of Hamachi."Dyris challenged.
"The game is steal the Wu."Omi stated. "Whoever takes the other Wu first wins and we play it on dry land."
"YOU FOOL!"Klofange shouted in anger. "You can't let her out of the water! On dry land, she turns into her true monstrous form!"
How bad can she be?"Omi asked in curiosity.
Omi turned around and saw Dyris was no longer a beautiful mermaid, but now a hideous monster, 1000 times bigger than him.
"Oh...that bad."Omi said and took out the Gills of Hamachi. "Let's go! Xiaolin Showdown!"
"Gong Yi Tanpai!"Omi and Dyris yelled out in unison.
Dyris started off by flicking Omi against the wall with the Fist of Tebigong.
Omi tried to slide forward, but Dyris smashed the Fist of Tebigong into the ground, sending him flying.
The Gills of Hamachi go flying and land on his throat.
"Gills of Hamachi!"Omi chanted.
Omi activated the Gills of Hamachi.
Kimiko, Raimundo, Dojo, Alice, Clay and Klofange sat down to watch the showdown.
"Why she didn't grab the gills when she had the chance?"Clay asked.
"She's a predator."Klofange replied. "Like's to play with her food first."
Omi notices he can't breathe on land while using the Gills of Hamachi.
Dyris picked up Omi.
"Your going to doom us all, boy!"Klofange warned.
Dyris was about to grab the Gills from Omi's neck, but the Dragon of Water takes it off.
"WATER!"Omi shouted.
Omi sends a geyser of water at Dyris.
Omi keeps the water pointing at Dyris causing her to stay in her mermaid form.
The Dragon of Water gives Dyris a kiss on the nose and takes the Fist of Tebigong from her, winning the showdown.
Kimiko, Raimundo, Dojo, Alice and Clay congratulated Omi at his victory.
"Yes."Omi agreed with a smile. "Girls are very easy to fool."
Omi notices the angry faces on Kimiko and Alice's faces.
"I mean pretty faces."Omi corrected nervously.
Kimiko and Alice got more angry as Klofange patted Omi's head.
"You would've made a fine beast hunter."Klofange said proudly.
"And you a noble Xiaolin Dragon."Omi remarked. "Perhaps we could..."
Dyris, unhappy about her loss, attempted to attack in her monster form.
"Aloft with ya, beast!"Klofange shouted. "Now you've got business to settle with Klofange!"
Klofange restrained Dyris with a rope from his staff as the entire ice floe started to collapse.
The warrior looked at the five monks.
"Go!"Klofange shouted. "You know how it must end for me and the beast!"
Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, Dojo, Alice and Clay run out of the ice cave.
"Farewell, brave warrior."Omi said quietly.
As the monks drive away in the Silver Manta Ray, the ice floe collapsed.
Dyris and Klofange got trapped in the collapsing ice and were once again bound together in ice.
Jack was lying in his broken squid submarine which lied in the ocean.
"Stranded in the ocean alone and not long before I started talking to people, who aren't really there."Jack said and notice Wuya was gone. "AH! It's happening!"
Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, Dojo, Alice and Clay showed up in the Silver Manta Ray.
"Hey Jack, need a lift?"Kimiko asked.
"Oh Kimiko!"Jack remarked happily. "Thank you! Thank you!"
Clay grabbed Jack with his rope as Omi chuckled.
"She didn't say you can ride with us."Clay stated smugly.
Jack whimpered as Alice patted Raimundo's shoulder.
"Start the ride, Rai!"Alice insisted with a smirk.
"With pleasure."Raimundo answered.
Raimundo started flying the Silver Manta Ray again to bring him and his friends back to the Xiaolin Temple while Jack held onto the rope as he hopped on the water.
"Ouch!"Jack shouted. "Cold! Cold!"
