Hi everyone, it's been a while. But after going through hell and back, I'm going to continue and hopefully finish this story I started 6 years ago! I've so dearly missed writing and I only hope to make this story everything you'd hoped it would be!
An entire day went by. No one was able to wake. The fight had taken everything out of them. Lucy laid there, face down in the dirt with Happy a few feet ahead of her. Happy's wings were limp and showed almost no life. Nastu remained in his dragon form, unmoving and much further away from Lucy. Was this it for them? The end of the line? Our favorite heroes left to die in a cave?
Lucy was stirred by a tiny rock falling on her face. More and more of these rocks hit her face until she heard a large crunch and even louder thud. Opening her eyes she saw light. Had she died? Was she about to see her mother again? She felt so weak, she was ready. Ready for the hurt to be over. Ready to see her mother. But wait... these words played in her brain, "What about Natsu..."
She felt someone lift her. She could tell she was being held on someone's shoulders, like a fireman carry, because of all the tension she felt on this person. They were very strong, but also very tense and feared something...
"GET THE BEAST!" another voice screamed. Was the beast still here? It wasn't crushed by rocks? Lucy was very confused, but also very tired, she couldn't process anything that was happening and very slowly lost consciousness again.
Lucy woke up in a bed, a relatively nice one at that. She still felt very sore but noticed she was clean and had some fresh bandages and clothes on. "You're awake!" a very feminine voice said. Out from behind a curtain popped a short and stout woman. She had a very strong Scottish accent, "Hello Dearie! You took quite the nap there!" she walks by and sets down a tray with some light food, pieces of bread, and crackers. "How long was I asleep," Lucy said as she took in the scene around her, "And where am I?"
"Oh you were asleep for a day or so after those wee boys rescued ya from the beast cave!" the older woman sat down beside Lucy. "I'm Maighread by the way, the boys brought you here before offing to the trade market. This wee town is Kenlochan!"
"I'm Lucy...did they bring my friends? One a cat the other a.." Lucy stopped herself, how would this woman react to hearing about a dragon. "The other a man? Pink spikey hair," Lucy gestured to her hair and used her hands to describe Natsu's hair.
"Afraid not dearie...they didn't bring anyone in with you. They just brought what beasts they had to the market," Maighread said sadly. Lucy blinked, "Beasts? There was only the one...Could we possibly go to this market? Maybe they know what happened to my friends.."
Maighread thought for a few minutes, "You have been through a lot...but I have a wheelchair so I don't see why not!" The woman rushed off to a closet and removed a wheelchair from it, rolling it over to Lucy. "In ya go, dearie."
Lucy placed her legs over the side of the bed and set her feet on the ground, it felt like pins and needles after not moving for so long. With the help of Maighread, she sat in the wheelchair and the older woman placed a blanket over her lap, "We don't want you catching a cold now."
The two of them rolled off outside, Lucy finally got a look at the town. it was very cute, lots of kitchy scenery, and very foggy. There were mothers with their children in a little farmers market, men and women working in shops that peppered the street. It was very homey, she could almost picture herself here. But the future wasn't what was important right now, finding Happy and Natsu was the priority.
Lucy and her new companion rolled into a much sketchier area of the town. Busted cages and feathers were strewn about the entrance to an area that said "Be Ma k t" on a dilapidated sign. Lucy steeled herself and trusted Maighread to ensure her safety. Maighread gripped the wheelchair and moved her coin purse and a small knife to a bag on the back of the chair. "Can't be too careful here..."
As they pushed on, they saw a stand with birds and another with small rodents, each of them accompanied by a mustached man holding up their "best product". Maighread stopped once they got close to a docked ship, with some men standing out in front of it. "Boys!" the older woman sped up to get closer to them. "This wee lass is looking for some friends of hers that were in the cave!"
One with blue hair laughed, "Aint no friends in the cave. Just some crummy animals. A cat and a monkey looking thing." Lucy widened her eyes at 'cat', "You found a Cat?! Was he blue? Did he have big eyes?!" Lucy spoke very quickly, almost getting out of the chair to get in these guys' faces.
"Yea but I think someone already bought 'im," a larger man next to blue-haired guy spoke up.
All of the colors drained from Lucy's face, "Bought him..." her eyes went dark and she somehow mustered the strength to stand from her chair. She gripped the blue-haired man's shirt and dragged him down to her face level, "You've got 5 seconds to tell me where that cat is...or I'm gonna make you wish you were never born."
"Dino you gotta just tell her!" the small man cried from behind the large man. "Look, Lady, this guy wanted to buy everything we got from that cave! We didn't get a name, just a location to deliver! We sent our guy yesterday with the beasts!" this man was scared, very scared and fumbling over his words.
"Which city did you send him to." Lucy's tone was serious, she wasn't messing around when it came to her friends, especially the one who saved her life.
"Letopolis!" the named Dino cried. Lucy threw him to the ground and he crawled away behind his friends.
Lucy turned to Maighread, "I thank you dearly for caring for me the last few days, but I need to go find my friends..." Maighread nodded, "Of course, dearie, and you're welcome back any time. But make sure you bring some coin to Letopolis!" She handed her the small coin pouch she hid earlier.
"Why do I need to bring coin?" Lucy took the pouch and looked to the old woman. "Why for the Coliseum! They have phenomenal fights between wizards and beasts!" she grinned innocently.
Lucy smiled back and bid her new friend adieu. Stopping by the home to grab her things and picking up a new outfit from a shop nearby. The outfit was blue and white(think of her typical outfit with thigh-high boots and 3 quarter sleeve), with a long white cloak with gold trim and gold embellishments on the cloak itself. Her hair was in two low ponytails with long strands pulled from the front of her face.
"I'm coming Nastu..."
