Chapter 25: Miracle
Only moments earlier, Rex's mind battle had come to an end, and currently Nia continued to cry over Rex's body. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out some of the coming tears. Nia still couldn't believe that Rex had given his life for her. No matter how sad she was, she just couldn't find herself to be angry. She was just sad. Nia was beginning to accept that there was no hope for Rex when the impossible happened. She felt someone squeeze her hand. The hand that was currently holding Rex's.
Nia opened her eyes in surprise, and what she saw made her gasp. Rex's eyes were open, and he was smiling up at her. Nia rubbed her wet eyes. Was she dreaming? When she opened her eyes again, Rex was still smiling up at her.
"R-rex?" Nia said.
"Nia," Rex said, "Don't cry. I'm here."
Nia immediately leaned over and forcefully pressed her lips against Rex's. Later, she would get an explanation about why Rex was still alive. But Nia didn't give a damn about that now. She was with the boy she loved, and there was one word she could use to describe what had happened.
Miracle.
I understand that this was a short chapter, but I also think that it was a nice one. Also, I know that quite a few people actually read this story.
