Author's Note: I can't believe this is actually chapter 30! Thank you to everyone who is supporting me through comments, follows, and favorites! So, one of my favorite things about the Disney movie Mulan is the amazing songs(I mean, if you don't sing along to 'Make A Man Out Of You' you really can't be human). I was a little hesitant about adding these songs into my story, as writing a song into a story while still describing what is actually happening is kind of hard. I decided to give it a shot though. If it is confusing, just look up 'A Girl Worth Fighting For' as my description of it is basically exactly the same as the movie except for a few minor changes. Well, I hope you enjoy! Please be sure to leave a review!

Chapter Thirty: A Girl Worth Fighting For!

"Hey, guys! I got one!" Ling shouts excitedly. The rest of the guys and I moan, knowing it's time for another one of Ling's painfully terrible jokes. "What did Attila the Hun say to his wife when he got home? Hun, I'm home! Get it! 'Cus he was a Hun!" Ling breaks out into a fit of laughter while we all glare at him. When he sees our dirty looks, he puts on an innocent face. "What? Have you guys heard that one before?"

"Yeah," Yoa growls, "You've only said it six times since we began marching three days ago!" Yao looks ready to punch Ling, but Chein-Po steps between them before anything can happen.

"What can I say? I used up all of my good jokes in this war! Hey, I have an idea!" exclaims Ling. "We could sing!" He clears his throat. "Let's get down to-"

"SHUT UP!" Mushu, Yao, Qing, and I shout at the same time as Ling begins Li Shang's training song.

"I think what everyone is trying to say, Ling, is that we have heard 'Make A Man Out Of You' multiple times over the past few days and it is beginning to get annoying," Chein-Po states calmly. Ling crosses his arms and mumbles something under his breath.

"I swear," I whisper to Mushu, "If I hear that song again, I'm going to scream."

"Strange, we keep singing it, but it doesn't seem to be working," he whispers back. I silence him with a quick elbow to the ribs.

"You know, we could try singing something else," Chein-Po tells us.

"Like what? We don't really know any other songs," Yao questions.

Chein-Po seems to get an idea. "Let's make something up." He pauses for a minute and then starts us off. "For a long time, we've been marching off to battle."

"In our thundering herd, we feel a lot like cattle," Yao continues on a more pessimistic note.

Qing and I are happy to complain, being in the fowl moods we are in. "Like the pounding beat, our aching feet aren't easy to ignore."

Suddenly Ling rushes forward, throwing his arms around Yao and Chein-Po's shoulders. "Hey, think of instead, a girl worth fighting for!"

"Huh?" I ask, confused. Ling happily comes over to me and puts his arm around my shoulders. I glance at Mushu nervously, who just chuckles, giving me a look that tells me that he knows exactly what's going on.

"That's what I said! A girl worth fighting for!" Ling sings while taking a drawing of a woman out of his breastplate and unrolling it. "I want her paler than the moon, with eyes that shine like stars."

Yao's mood improves as he joins in, singing about his ideal woman. "My girl will marvel at my strength, adore my battle scars."

Chein-Po happily takes over the next line. "I couldn't care less what she'll wear or what she looks like. It all depends on what she cooks like. Beef, pork, chicken, mmm"

'Great, just great. They had to sing a song about women. This should be fun.' I think to myself. We are soon forced to cross a river, and as we do we carry our swords above our heads to avoid them from getting wet. We have almost finished crossing when Yao gives me a sly look

"Bet the local girls thought you were quite the charmer."

I hurry away, but not before I hear Ling's next line.

"And I'll bet the ladies love a man in armor."

I watch as he emerges from the river with water in his armor, making him look extremely muscular, only to have it squeeze out as soon as he flexes. The rest of the men seem to have caught on to our little song, as they all join in on the next line in a deep baritone.

"You can guess what we have missed the most since we went off to war!"

We pass a rice field where women are working. As we pass, Mushu wolf-whistles at the ladies, only to quickly hide behind the cart Kahn is pulling. The women look at me, thinking it was I who made the call. I blush and turn away as I hear both the woman and Mushu laughing at my discomfort. Ling continues the song, oblivious to what has happened.

"What do we want?" he sings to the other men. They are quick to reply.

"A girl worth fighting for!"

I continue to walk, only to have Yao trail behind me, singing again about his perfect girl.

"My girl will think I have no faults."

I roll my eyes and bump into Chein-Po who joins in.

"That I'm a major find."

Ling walks up to us, successfully boxing me in between the trio. The three look at me expectantly, obviously waiting to see what my perfect girl would be like. Mushu looks at me with a sly smile, teasing me silently. I decide I might as well give it my best shot. In my best baritone with a giant fake smile, I sing, "Uhh… how 'bout a girl who's got a brain, who always speaks her mind?" trailing off a little at the end as the men's expressions change from expectant to disdain.

"Nah!"

"Men" I murmur sourly. Ling throws his arm over my shoulder again, pulling me close to him, and I scrunch my nose. What is it with men and touching each other?

"My manly ways and turn of phrase are sure to thrill her!" he sings as I remove his arm from my shoulder. I shake my head knowing that that will never happen. Suddenly, I am jerked downwards as Yao grabs a hold of the tie of my armor that is around my neck.

"He thinks he's such a lady killer!" he sings to me. He lets me go only to slap Kahn's rump, making the poor horse walk away, subsequently causing Ling, who is leaning on the cart attached to Kahn, to fall flat on his face into the mud. Yao smiles triumphantly. I hear an annoying voice from in front of me, and see that Chi-Fu has decided to join the song.

"I've got a girl back home who's unlike any other."

I bend down to Yao and add a line.

"Yeah the only girl who'd love him is his mother."

Yao smiles and Mushu claps me on the back. Chi-Fu sends me a dirty look, but I can swear I see a smile play on the edges of Captain Li Shang's mouth. The rest of the men join in again.

"But when we come home in victory they'll line up at the door!"

"What do we want?" Ling calls out as he bursts through a set of snowy trees atop Chein-Po's shoulders. I try to walk away, but a group of men surround me and throw their arms over my shoulders, forming a line. I keep my arms to my sides as we march on, wanting nothing more than to be out of this situation.

"A girl worth fighting for!" the men sing.

"Wish that I had!" Ling continues.

"A girl worth fighting for."

I duck underneath the men's arms only to see Ling, Yao, Chein-Po, Mushu, and even Qing holding snowballs. I turn the other way and look at the ground.

"A girl worth fighting-"

I look up and gasp. The men stop singing mid-line as everyone freezes in place. Silence. There is nothing but silence. That, and the solemn tolling of a bell. I have seen a lot over the past two years, but nothing as horrifying as this.
