Kagome froze.
She really was dying. She was dying for someone and she didn't even know who it was.
Anger sparked in her chest. She didn't ask for this. She didn't ask to fall in love with someone new. It wasn't like she wanted to remain oblivious.
"You're right, Miroku," she finally said. "I do want to know who this person is." She meant to say more but was interrupted by another coughing fit. Miroku and Sango watched in horrified silence as Kagome tried to muffle her coughs with her hands.
Miroku got up to get some water while Sango stayed by Kagome's side, rubbing circles on her back.
