A/N: Hello everyone! Welcome back to the story! I've been meaning to write something season 2 Klaine for a while now. Season 2 and the first half of season 3 I felt that Klaine was really at their best and it was before the writers added a TON of unnecessary drama. I write a lot of post-season 4 themed stories but I thought let's just do something cute and season 2 themed and I thought this song was perfect for it!
Song: Accidentally in Love- Counting Crows
Lyrics: "What's the problem? I don't know… well, maybe I'm in love."
Summary: Blaine doesn't' know what came over him, but at that moment he knew he was in love with his best friend. He might need some help dealing with that revelation.
Rating: K+: This is season 2 Klaine! They're cute and shy and all around just cotton candy sweet! Nothing too heavy in this one. A brief of mention of Kurt's bullying situation and Blaine's Sadie Hawkins situation. Plus, there's Warblers! Who doesn't love a good Warbler's story!
"Blaine?" Wes directed his attention to the younger boy across the table. "Blaine?" He sighed as the Warbler's lead singer continued to stare into nothingness. "Blaine!"
David just shrugged and waved his hand in front of the tenor's face, before smacking him in the back of the head. "Earth to Anderson!"
"Ow, David!" Blaine pushed the darker-skinned boy away from him "What?"
"You okay there, space cadet? We need some help thinking up the third song for regionals." Wes simply rolled his eyes. "I assume you still want your solos right? Because at this rate you aren't helping yourself." Blaine just smiled.
"Sorry, I'm just—"
"Thinking about how much you love, Kurt?" Thad slid into the seat to Blaine's left with a pile of sheet music in hand. "You've been doing that a lot lately and it's starting to get annoying. You spacing out right before a competition isn't like you, dude. Get it together."
Instead of rolling his eyes or just laughing like Blaine usually would, the tenor looked down to his hands sheepishly and smiled. "I love, Kurt."
"Excuse me?" Wes and David asked in unison. Thad simply stared; his mouth open. All of them had teased Blaine at one point or another about his obvious crush on their most recent transfer, but Blaine had never admitted it. Not only that, in the span of on a few months he had been so hell-bent on ensuring he only stayed as Kurt's friend that he had tried to date a much older guy AND made out with a girl; that second one made Thad laugh whenever he thought about it.
"I love him," Blaine said it again with more conviction than the first time and the Warbler's council just continued to stare. "What?"
"Well we've only been trying to get you to admit that out loud since the first day you went out for coffee," Wes mused.
David just laughed. "Yea. 'can you guys give us a minute?' I know you were all worried about him and stuff but honestly… we could tell in 10 seconds you were head over heels." Blaine blushed at this. "Well, what are you going to do about it now?"
"Do about it?"
"You love Kurt?" Wes questioned.
"Obviously."
Thad sighed, "then you need to tell him!" Blaine just shook his head quickly and grabbed at some sheet music, pretending to start looking over his solos. "Blaine…"
"I can't do that to him! He's been through too much and he doesn't need me to be doing this to him right now."
"Blaine…" Thad leaned over to put his hand on his friend's arm. "I know that you've always seen him as a friend and that you want to help him get through the things from his old school. But, maybe this is what he needs? Even if it isn't… have you ever thought that maybe this is just something he wants? Sometimes we all just have to take a leap. Would this be so bad?"
Blaine let his head fall forward onto the table. "I just can't mess this up any more than I already have and I need him…"
"You're worried about losing him because he's helping you as much as you're helping him?" Wes questioned. "Has he been helping you with getting through the stuff from Westerville? The Sadie Hawkins?" All three watched Blaine twitch at the thought of the beating he went through before transferring.
"Yea…"
"Well…" David leaned over the put an arm around the tenor, pushing Thad out of the way. "Just so you know, we all think you'd be cut together. You should totally go for it, dude."
"No. No auditions. I want to do the duet… with Kurt."
Wes, David, and Thad simply looked quizzically at their lead singer. They voted quickly; the duet being approved unanimously by the group. But, before Blaine could escape with the rest of the dismissed singers, Wes called him up to the bench.
"Guys, I'd really like to stay but there's… something I need to do tod—"
"What the hell was that, Anderson?" Wes cut him off abruptly. "Could you, at least have warned us you were going to do that?!"
Thad rolled his eyes, as he was so accustomed to doing when Wes decided to overreact. "What Wes meant to say was… we assume you figured out what you're doing about Kurt?"
"Yes." Blaine nodded before grabbing his sheet music from the stand next to the door and sauntering out.
"I swear looking after that boy is going to kill us one day," Wes complained.

It was a few days after the announcement of the duet that Kurt and Blaine got to practice for the first time in front of the full group. While the arrangement was nice and the background vocals were great, there was something that was off about the two boys, and the council couldn't quite put their finger on it. "Let's take a few minutes for a break," Wes suggested. "We'll see you all back here in 5. Let's move onto Raise Your Glass and try out some new vocals for Misery again and we'll circle back to the duet at the end. Okay?" He dismissed the boys with a bange of his gavel. "Blaine? Kurt? Can we talk to you real fast?"
"This isn't working…" Thad looked hard at Blaine. "You don't seem to even know your parts yet!" The tenor just looked at his feet, his face looking almost ashamed. "Blaine, as the lead we took a chance on your idea only a week before Regionals. We need you to fix this."
Wes looked at Kurt. "You usually don't have this difficult of a time learning your parts, Kurt. Is there something wrong with the song or the arrangement. Words are so much easier than the acapella parts. You do realize if we back out of this idea we either have to give Blaine another duet partner or convert a new song into a third solo? This could really hurt us."
"Sorry, Wes, we just didn't get a lot of practice done." Kurt looked over at Blaine, silently asking for help but the tenor just kept his eyes trained on his slightly scuffed up shoes.
"Why?" David seemed to be the only one questioning the explanation. "The two of you are some of our most dedicated members. I'd think you'd both understand how much practice you would need to get these parts down in time."
"What could be oh so much more important than this duet?"
Kurt sent another look to Blaine whose eyes just shifted slightly before he reached out a hand to Kurt who took it hesitantly. "We didn't want to tell anyone yet…" the short boy trailed off and looked up at Wes. "We were a little busy."
It took all three council members everything they had not to immediately jump up and congratulate the two and pull them into bone-crushing hugs. However, the boys dropped hands immediately as the rest of the Warblers began to file back into the room, showing just how uncomfortable they were with being official at the moment.
It took a few more moments before the gavel was hitting the table again and David was going through what the rest of rehearsal would entail. "Oh, Kurt and Blaine!" He added as an afterthought. "There is a free practice room down the hall? 345B? Go there and practice your duet while we work on the background for Raise Your Glass… we'll come to get you when we want to try Candles again."
Blaine mouthed a silent thank you before pulling Kurt up and ushering him quickly out of the room. All the council could hope for was that they would actually practice the duet.
They may not have won at Regionals but the Warblers' bus back wasn't full of tears and defeat the way it had been the previous years. Instead, in the wake of the New Directions victory, the bus had erupted into laughter and hoots quickly after realizing what they had just witnessed in the parking lot.
After loading almost everyone on the bus Wes had sighed and just questioned into the air, "where are Kurt and Blaine?" Nick had been the one to point them out, the two Dalton blazers sticking out like sore thumbs amongst the hodgepodge of fashion choices in the New Directions. Wes just rolled his eyes. "He can't catch up with them later?"
"He's probably telling them," Thad whispered to his fellow council member. "He hasn't seen them in weeks because of rehearsals." Wes's eyes softened a little at this and instead of complaining he just used the extra time to try and give a pep talk to the rest of the fairly quiet boys on the bus.
The quiet and listening didn't last long, however, as the group saw both Kurt and Blaine walking hand in hand back toward the bus. As they got closer the shorter teen leaned in a little and whispered something that caused Kurt to just stop and smile, a soft blush creeping up his cheeks.
Blaine smiled that soft wistful smile before fixing a piece of Kurt's hair that had been mused by the New Directions girls. He looked down a little before whispering something else, receiving a small nod in answer. In a single moment, the collective of Warblers seemed to understand what was going on as Blaine took a step closer and completely closed the gap between them.
It was as if the entire bus was holding their breath, a few of them looking up at Wes with wide eyes. Nick was the one to break the tension with "I knew it! Jeff, you owe me 20 bucks! So do Thad and Trent!" At that entire bus erupted into laughs, catcalls, and wolf whistles.
The surprised couple broke apart quickly in the parking lot before looking sheepishly at Wes and David who each look amused. They boarded the bus with smiles, accepting the congratulatory hugs from their classmates before cuddling up together near the back of the bus.
A/N: I have such a soft spot for early Klaine. I don't know… like season 2 and 3 Klaine seem to be so different from season 4-6. They're still so very much in love by the end and their double wedding with Brittana was beautiful and made me cry lol. But, especially season 2 Klaine there's something so special and I wanted to try and capture that here. The next chapter is actually a prompt that is a repeat song, but I had to still do it! The chapter after is ALSO a prompt with a new song! So, get ready to hear some reader suggested ideas! If you have an idea for a song you'd like me to use just PM me!
