It had been 1 week since Callen landed in a coma after locking himself in a room with a deadly toxin. And he still hadn't woken up.
Things hadn't been easy for Granger either. And it wasn't just because of Hetty being worried about Callen.
Things had been awkward between the 2 of them since that kiss at New Year's. They hadn't really talked outside of work.
'I hope I didn't push her away with that kiss. Why is it that every time I try to do this big gesture for her, it always backfires?!' he thought.
He saw Hetty walk into her office, then decided to talk to her.
'Can we talk?' he asked.
'If you want to, I'm not busy at the moment.' She answered.
They sat on her couch.
'How's Callen?'
'Sigh. It could be another few days before he wakes up. He's lucky that he's even still alive! And before you say anything about not worrying so much, let me remind you, he's one of my agents, I'm going to worry no matter what you tell me!' Hetty answered.
'Oh. Okay. Can we talk about something else?'
'Like?'
'Like, anything? We havn't really had a conversation in awhile.'
'I've been a little busy lately.'
'Not that busy.'
'Sigh.'
Silence.
'It's been ages, since I was kissed like that.' Hetty said.
'Really?'
'Yeah. I can't even remember the last time or the guy that kissed me like that!'
'I was worried I pushed you away!'
'Oh, you could never do that, Owen! I just, needed time to process the whole thing. Why, why did you kiss me like that?'
'Um. Um. Heat of the moment. Given that it was midnight, and New Year's.' Granger responded, nervously.
Hetty looked at him questionably.
'Oh. Well, it was very sweet of you either way. Thank you.'
'You're welcome.'
'I suppose this clears up any awkwardness between us?' Hetty asked.
'It does.'
'Okay. I'm going to get some breakfast, you want anything?'
'No, I'll go get some myself, but thanks.'
'Okay.'
As she walked away, Granger looked at her and thought: 'Someday, I'll tell her how I feel about her.'
