Thanks to gaara king of the sand for the help.
"It's time to wake up, sweet pea." Lee's voice echo in her head and her eyes snapped open.
The noise coming from downstairs was loud enough to snap the child out of her deluded state. Clementine looked around, frowning as she realized she was no longer at the "motor inn". She was now back in Carver's office. But she was surprised to see that she was all alone.
As the chaos continued, she realizes this must be it. They were carrying out their escape plan. There had to be a way she could help. She thought for a bit then recalled the conversations on the radio. The mentions of the PA system, how loud it was. How it could draw the herd.
The girl shakily forced herself to her feet. Hissing in pain as she put pressure on her bad leg. She began to slowly limp her way over to the PA system. This was their chance.
She looked through the window but realized she couldn't see anyone in the pen. She prayed they hadn't left her. Molly had promised she would never leave her.
Clementine looks at the PA system and switches on the external speakers. "Okay, now the mic..."
The child hits the button for the mic and turns the volume knob, but music doesn't play. Clementine frowns, "Wh-what's wrong?"
Clementine tries to turn on the CD receiver, but nothing happens. "No, no, no, no..." Clementine presses the eject button and discovers there is no CD in the receiver. Clementine: No, where are they?
Clementine grabs the CD from the shelf below the desk, inserts it, and turns it on. "Come on, come on... Please work." Clementine turns up the volume. To her relief it works, and an advertisement starts blaring over the speaker.
She then checked Carver's desk drawer, finding his gun. She wouldn't make the same mistake as last time. She checked it for bullets. There was only one. She would have to make it count. She needed to leave. Now or never.
She limped her way over to the door and forced it open. She froze for a moment at the steps. She wished she had her crutches.
Clementine took a seat at the top of the stairs, braced herself and then began sliding down. She was careful not to bump her leg to far. Once at the bottom of the stairs she began to make her way towards the commotion. She didn't get too far before she bumped into someone.
"Molly!" She hugged her guardian. Molly had an outfit for her, it was clearly to big, but it was something. Molly quickly helped the child dress herself and then the woman held the child in her arms.
"I thought you left me." Clementine said.
"Never. I would never leave you. Let's get out of here, Clem." Molly said.
Clementine hears gunshots echoing through the store. They make it to the stockroom where Carver has the group at gunpoint, and they have their hands up.
"You wanna disrespect me, fine. You wanna throw away the life...I'm tryin' to build for us all...then fuckin' fine! You wanna run off with this dogshit group of crippled fucks, then fine! Be my guest. But I will put a bullet in you and that baby before I let you leave again with my child!" Carver grumbled.
"It's not yours!" Rebecca snapped.
Carver shot her a look. "You don't fucking know that! And until we do, you're not goin' anywhere."
As Molly and Clementine entered the room, Molly places Clementine down and before she can react the child aims the gun towards Carver and pulls the trigger.
Carver grunts in pain, going to clutch his shoulder.
Kenny takes the opportunity to punch Carver while Luke takes his gun, pointing it at him. The group lowers their hands and picks up their weapons.
Luke aims a gun towards the man. "Get back."
Carver chuckles. "Come on, Luke. This ain't none of your business."
"Kill him." Rebecca orders.
"Rebecca, Rebecca, sweetie, my god. How did we get here, you and me?" Carver asked. "This is just a bit of a custody battle we got on our hands here."
Rebecca shakes her head. "Shoot him."
"Just shoot him." Clementine speaks up.
Her little voice grabs their attention.
Luke is shocked. "What? No, I d—"
"Do it!" Clementine exclaims.
"You- You don't mean that, Clem." Luke stammers.
Clementine glared at him. "He TOOK MY clothes... Left me NAKED FOR EVERYONE TO SEE to HUMILIATE ME... LET Dozens of men fuck me and did it himself. YES, Luke I DO want him to Die for EVERYTHING he has done to me."
"Why not shoot me yourself honey," Carver said.
"I would if I could…" Clementine replied. "…But I don't have any more bullets."
Carver laughed in response. "Looks like I finally broke you, honey. You're one of the toughest kids- no the toughest person I've ever met. Any child you ever give birth to will have a mother of steel. I just wish I could've been the one to give you that child."
"Shut the hell up, you sick fuck!" Kenny hisses.
Carver just laughs more.
Kenny narrows his eyes and suddenly shoots Carver in both knees. Carver falls to the ground and Kenny picks up a nearby crowbar.
"Go on and wait outside." Kenny tells the others.
"We have to go!" Carlos said.
Sarita frowned, "Kenny, please…"
Mike opens the door. He, Bonnie, and Jane leave.
"I only need a minute. Go on. You don't need to see this." Kenny said.
"That girl's already seen more than you can imagine. Been through more too…" Carver chuckled .
"Shut your mouth, Bill!" Luke snapped then looked to the others, "You're all just gonna let him do this?"
"Yes." Rebecca said.
"There ain't one part of that son of a bitch I don't hate, but that does not make this right. I don't want nothin' to do with this." Luke said.
"Then leave…" Molly said. "This has to be done."
"Aww, go on, miss the show." Carver said then met Clementine's gaze. "You gonna run away too, honey?"
"I'm not going anywhere." Clementine said.
"It's gonna get messy." Kenny replied.
"I know." Clementine responds.
"Look at you...you fuckin' ingrates. You don't even know how good you got it." Carver said.
Carlos, Sarah, Luke, and Nick walk toward the door.
"That's alright... you'll learn. Lambs to the slaughter... No shepherd to guide you. Clementine knows exactly what I'm talkin' about." Carver spoke through pained grunts.
Sarita frowned at that and called to Clementine, "Come on."
"Come on, Clem." Luke said.
Carver turned his attention to Kenny and smirked. "Fuckin' big man now, huh?"
Sarita made her way over to Clementine. "Let's go."
Clementine shook her head. "No."
"I'm not letting you see this." Sarita said.
"Stop." Molly spoke. "She needs to…"
"Molly…" Sarita looked to the woman with shock.
"She needs to see this…" Molly said.
"Atta girl...she ain't afraid to look it in the eye. You go with that feelin' ya got right now, Clementine. It's what makes you stronger than the rest of 'em." Carver tells the girl.
Clementine hates how he talks to her. She tries her best to avoid his eyes.
"Come on. Let's go." Carlos speaks.
Everyone but Kenny, Rebecca, Molly, and Clementine leaves.
"Yeah, go on. Let the sheep out of the pen. We'll see how long that lasts." Carver said.
"You won't see anything." Kenny said.
Carver scoffed. "That's funny comin' from you. How's that eye? Just follow my voice...it'll get ya there. You got a thick fuckin' skull, Kenneth. Should've put you outta your misery right then...now look at ya. You're a mess." Carver looks to Rebecca. "The fuck are you looking at, bitch? Don't act like you didn't love every second of it. The little one's just like you. She loved it too—"
Kenny smacks Carver in the face with the crowbar.
"I-I wanna do it…" Clementine suddenly says, limping closer. "I want to… I need to…"
Kenny doesn't protest. He understands why she feels this way. He hands over the crowbar to the young child without a word. As he watches Clementine beat Carver over and over again with the crowbar, he wonders if Lee would have disapproved of his actions. Clementine was just a little kid. She shouldn't be doing this.
"I hate you! I hate you! I HATE YOU!"
"Clem, Clem!" Kenny calls to the girl. "He's dead, darlin'."
He goes to take her shoulder, and she jerks.
"He's dead, Clementine! He's dead…" Kenny says again, pulling the sobbing child into a hug.
Molly frowns, "Give her here, I'll carry her."
Kenny nods and does so.
Rebecca takes Carver's pistol.
"Let's go…" Kenny said.
They head outside and notice a large herd of walkers approaching the store. As Kenny enters the parking lot, Sarita reaches toward him.
Kenny raises a hand to stop her. "No, no, I'm-I'm alright. Come on...we got enough to worry about."
"Man, we're never gonna make it through this." Nick frowns.
Luke looks to him. "You kidding me? If Clem can handle it, you can."
"Shit. I thought they were coming from the south." Kenny muttered.
"They did...looks like we're in the eye of it now." Rebecca said.
Mike huffed. "Fuck...this is fucked."
The group starts to kill a few walkers, and Jane slices open one of the corpses. Carver's group tries to gun down the approaching herd. Jane smears walker guts over herself.
"You guys better hurry up and get to smearing if you wanna live. Or you can die here...doesn't matter to me." Jane speaks up.
"Oh, god..." Rebecca murmured.
"Do it quick. We need to get covered before the rest of them get close, or we're fucked." Jane said.
Molly places Clementine down for a moment, while Luke helps the child support her weight. The woman begins covering the child with geek entrails.
"This is so gross…" Sarah frowns.
"No shit." Mike said.
Jane rolls her eyes. "Everybody shut the fuck up and get covered."
Carlos meanwhile covers Sarah in blood and entrails. "It'll be okay, honey. Just stay still."
Sarah frowned, cringing a bit. "Are...are you sure?"
Carlos nods. "I'm sure. There's nothing to fear if you remain calm. I'll keep you safe."
"Hurry the fuck up." Jane orders.
"We ain't got all day here, everybody ready? They're almost on us." Kenny speaks.
Eventually everyone is covered and ready.
"Stay in groups of three, watch each other's backs." Molly said.
The other nodded.
"Come on. Don't make any noise, got it? They might hear something they don't like. And for fuck's sake, WALK. Act like you belong and you will belong." Jane said.
Molly gently picks Clementine up, once again noticing that faraway look in the child's eyes. She sighs, knowing that right now no one is home.
The group slowly moves through the herd. Carver's group continues firing at the walkers.
Sarah is whimpering as they continue walking. Carlos does his best to comfort the girl.
Molly is silently hoping everyone keeps it together.
However, when Nick is suddenly shot and crumbles to the ground. Sarah's compose crumbles along with him and she begins screaming. Carlos tried his best to calm her down, but it was too late. The girl's screams drew attention from the undead who began closing in on them. Carlos had no time to react before he was suddenly grabbed. He pushed Sarah ahead, so that the girl wouldn't get bit as well.
Noticing what was happening, Sarah screamed more. The teen was hysterical, crying and screaming. Some walkers take notice of Sarah's screams. Sarita kills one moving toward her. Bonnie guns down several more.
Luke meanwhile goes to try and help Nick up. To his surprise, his friend is still alive. Helping Nick to his feet he continues pushing through the herd, unable to get to the rest of the group.
"Sarah!" Bonnie call.
"Kenny!" Sarita calls, realizing they have been separated by the herd.
"I can't get to you, babe!" Kenny calls back.
"Please, Daddy...no..." Sarah cries, shaking her head.
Molly knew if she didn't quiet down, she would get them all killed. Molly immediately looked for someone, close by, handing Clementine off to the person who just happened to be Sarita.
Molly then rushed towards Sarah, killing a few geeks that was getting far close to the girl. She then grabbed the teen and covered her mouth. "Sarah, you have to be quiet."
Sarah attempted to struggle free.
"Stop. If you keep screaming, you'll get us all killed." Molly said.
Sarah didn't listen. She continued screaming, and despite her yells being muffled by Molly's hand, they were still drawing the dead.
"Damn it..." Molly huffed and utilized a pressure point to knock the girl unconscious. Molly caught the teen before she could fall then looked to Sarita, "Let's go."
"Is she okay?" Sarita asked.
"She will be. We couldn't have her screaming like that. Let's just keep moving." Molly replied.
As they make their way through the herd, they find themselves getting split up. There are just too many geeks, and it's hard to tell where people are.
It's not until they hear a panicking voice that Molly notes is Rebecca.
"I can't… I can't…" Rebecca is mumbled to herself.
"Rebecca," Molly calls.
Rebecca jumps and turns then sighs in relief when she realizes it's them "Oh, Thank god! I can't find anybody. What do we do? Luke was with me, but... I-I can't do this alone...
"Just calm down, we're gonna be fine. We need to keep moving. We'll find the others..." Molly said.
"Look. The walkers are still moving toward the hardware store. We can make it out if we stick together-" Rebecca sudden groans in pain and Molly and Sarita are concerned.
"A-Are you okay?" Molly asked.
"I-I'm fine… I'm glad you're here. We can watch each other's backs." Rebecca said.
Sarita nodded in agreement.
"We need a clear path to the trees... Maybe they're thinning out somewhere. Do you see any openings?" Rebecca asked.
Molly looked for an opening, "Come on, just sit close to us."
Rebecca nodded.
They started to walk through, but Rebecca panicked as they were surrounded by walkers.
"Damn it! Go back, go back." Rebecca panicks.
"Rebecca, wait—"
Rebecca however had already turned to go back, bumping into Jane in the process. "Jane! Thank god—"
"Stop. Relax. You need to walk...SLOWLY. You'll be fine." Jane said in a quiet but stern voice.
Rebecca shook her head. "I can't do this."
"You'll be fine, Rebecca, just listen to me." Molly spoke.
"We can't clump together like this...it's better if we spread out." Jane said.
Rebecca shook her head. "W-We can't. You don't understand."
Molly notices Rebecca's distress. "Rebecca, we'll be fine. Just listen to me… We have to keep moving."
"But if something happens, we'll be screwed. You're carrying Sarah, Sarita has Clem… we won't be able to protect ourselves." Rebecca said.
Jane sighs at this, realizing they are all vulnerable right now. "Damn it... We'll have to push through that cluster of walkers.
"There's too many..." Rebecca said.
"We'll make a cow-catcher." Jane grabs the walker's arm and removes its jaw with her knife. "Not gonna bite anybody now, are ya? Follow me. Stay close. If you fall behind, I can't come back for you."
Jane walks in front, holding the walker in front of her.
The group walks through the herd. When they reach the end, Jane throws down the walker and stabs it in the head. "Let's go."
It's now morning, and the group find themselves walking through the forest. Rebecca lags behind. They still haven't seen a sign of anyone else.
"How are you feeling, Rebecca?" Sarita asked.
"I'm not alright. But I'll be a lot better once we get with the others." Rebecca said. "I need to make sure everyone else made it out. Goddamn it, what if they aren't there?"
"If they aren't...nothing we can do about it." Jane said.
"Don't even say things like that!" Rebecca said.
Jane rolled her eyes. "Fine! Sorry."
"I'm sure they're okay…" Sarita said.
"Really? You think so?" Rebecca asked then frowned. "Jesus, I don't even know if WE'RE safe. What if the herd is still following us?"
"We're fine." Jane simply said.
"It's been quiet, but who knows."
"We've just gotta keep going." Molly said. "We're okay. We'll meet up with everyone soon."
"We'll at least be safe... I guess." Rebecca sighs. "How's Sarah? And Clem…?"
"Sarah's still… unconscious… Losing her father is gonna be hard on her…" Molly said.
"I'm sure… What about Clem…? Is she okay…?" Rebecca asked.
"She's… not great… She's been zone out since… after what she did to Carver." Molly replied with a sigh.
"I don't think you should've have let her stay in there. She's just a child." Sarita said.
"She needed closure…She needed that…" Molly said.
Sarita frowned and shook her head. "It's going to affect her… Mentally…"
"It already has. Take a look at her. Everything that happened in that hell hole has affected her mental state." Rebecca said.
"Which is why you shouldn't have let her stay, Molly…" Sarita said.
"You don't have to tell me how to raise my girl. I know what I'm doing…" Molly said.
"We can't worry about that stuff now." Jane cut in. "We need to keep up a good pace.
"I'm going as fast as I can…." Rebecca said. "And how can we not worry, after all she's been through…"
"She'll get over it." Jane said.
"You don't just get over that… She's been through absolute hell." Rebecca said.
"Well, she'll learn to live with it then." Jane replied.
Rebecca shook her head at that. Both Sarita and Molly were sickened by the woman's words as well. Jane sounded completely heartless.
"I know I should feel glad that we escaped, but I just can't stop thinking about the others. It was stupid." Rebecca said.
"What was? Escaping?" Jane asked.
"Look, I know we all agreed to use the herd to get out, but...maybe we should've been more patient. Come up with something better." Rebecca said.
"We couldn't wait any longer… You know that Rebecca." Molly said.
"I know… I just… Wished it went better." Rebecca said.
"It worked!" Jane said.
"If you can call that working! We could have... I don't know..." Rebecca said.
"Carver was crazy. Staying would've only prolonged the inevitable." Jane replied. "The plan was good! The execution was the messy part."
"That sounds an awful lot like you're saying it was there fault." Rebecca said.
"What, no. I'm just saying… if people hadn't panicked…"
"Of course we panicked, we were scared…"
"Whatever, we just have to get to the meeting spot and see if anyone else made it. If they're there, great…"
"Can you stop saying if?" Sarita asked.
"Why, no point in lying. Nothing is guaranteed." Jane replied.
"Would it kill you to be a bit more positive. I—" Rebecca suddenly groans and grabs her stomach.
"A-Are you okay?" Sarita asked.
"I have to stop. I'm sorry. I don't want to slow us down. Can I just have a minute?" Rebecca said.
Jane sighed. "Uh... Yeah. Take a minute."
"Thank you."
The group stopped to let Rebecca rest.
Rebecca frowned and muttered. "Alvin was supposed to be here for this."
"Is Alvin..." Jane trailed off.
"He's dead is what he is. Thanks to that fucking madman back there." Rebecca said.
"I'm sorry…" Jane said.
"I… I'm sure Alvin would be proud of you, Rebecca…" Sarita said.
"God… I hope so…" Rebecca said.
"What are you going to do with it?" Jane suddenly asked.
Rebecca shot her a glare immediately. "What do you mean by that?"
Jane rubbed the back of her head. "Uhh, sorry. Just making conversation. It was nothing."
"No." Rebecca wasn't letting it go that easy. "What do you mean by that? Do with what?! My baby?!"
"What kind of question is that?" Sarita asked, appalled as well.
"I'm just looking at the worst-case scenario. You people won't be able to raise a baby. Not out here. I just mean, it's going to need food. And, y'know, other stuff." Jane said.
"Yeah? And?" Rebecca asked.
"And... It's going to be helpless, and you can't protect it…" Jane said.
"And you assume I won't be capable enough. Just because you're some angry loner who doesn't care about anyone but herself doesn't mean you know better than me!" Rebecca snapped.
"Hey! I've seen it before. Back when it started...me and my sister, we were—"
Rebecca cut Jane off. "What?! She died?! I don't need your pity!"
Jane narrowed her eyes. "You don't... You don't have the right..."
With that Jane turned to walk away.
"Shit, I didn't mean... Shit." Rebecca sighs.
Their arguing seemed to have snapped Clementine out of her daze and the child curiously asks, "What's going on?"
"Don't worry about it, Clem…" Molly said. "Come on, Rebecca. We gotta keep moving…"
"Damn it…" Rebecca mutters, feeling bad for what she said.
When they got to the meet up spot, they noticed a few of the group members were already there, but not all of them. Shel and Becca who were sitting on a bench spotted them first. Clementine notices that Shel has her crutches, and is grateful. At least she won't have to be carried all the time.
"You guys made it," Shel seemed relieved.
"Holy shit." Mike said.
"It had been so long. We were starting to worry no one else would make it." Bonnie said.
"Where's Kenny?" Sarita asked as she gently placed Clementine down.
"Over there, he was pretty worried." Mike motioned over to Kenny, who is sitting on the edge of a fountain looking anxious.
Molly walked over to a bench and laid Sarah down.
When Kenny spots them he immediately rushes over. "Sarita, Clem, thank God!"
"Now, hopefully, we can figure out a plan." Bonnie spoke.
"But that's still not everyone…" Becca said.
"I know… I'm sure they'll be here soon." Bonnie said.
"This memorial works fine as a meeting spot, but no way we can stay here long-term."
"I told you, that's why we're waitin'. And as soon as everyone else gets here, we'll figure something out." Bonnie said.
Rebecca furrowed her brows, "You wanted to leave without us?"
"What? No. I wanted to go out and try to find everyone. I'm going crazy just sitting here not doing anything." Mike said.
"Just give it time, Mike. It's still early." Bonnie said.
"Still. Doesn't exactly help us figure out what we're gonna do now. We've got no food, no water, it's getting damn cold, and we're losing daylight fast." Mike said.
"When the others get back, they'll know what to do. Luke will have a plan." Bonnie said.
"Mike's got a point. You can't just keep sitting around waiting. Things are difficult enough right now and soon you'll have a baby on your hands, too." Jane said.
Rebecca sent her a look. "What, suddenly you're pretending to be concerned?"
"Seeing you people floundering the minute things don't go according to plan has just got me on edge, alright?" Jane replied.
"Well, I don't exactly see you stepping up to help right now, either." Mike pointed out.
"We should find the others. If they're in trouble, we might be able to help them." Clementine said.
"You're not finding anyone." Molly said to the child.
Clementine pouted. "But I wanna…"
"I know you do, but you're still hurt…" Molly said.
"Clementine's right. After everything...after all this. If there's any chance they're still alive, we need to take it." Rebecca said.
"I'll go. Molly can come with me. If they're alive, they can't be far. We can find them... One way or the other." Jane said.
"Thank you." Rebecca said.
"While we're gone, Mike and Bonnie, you two can check out that museum… See if you can find anything useful. Shel and Becca take a look around and see if there's any place safe that we can camp out for the night. And Rebecca, you stick with Kenny and Sarita…. Just in case. You guys keep an eye on Sarah." Molly said.
"What can I do?" Clementine asked.
"You stay here with me, sweetie." Rebecca said.
"But I wanna help…" Clementine pouted.
"You are helping, sweetie. I could use your company." Rebecca said.
Clementine nodded. "…Okay…"
"Alright, everybody get to it." Molly said.
The others nodded.
Molly looked to Jane. "Let's go."
"I was just looking for an excuse to get outta there for a bit. And... You should know that finding your friends...that's a shot in the dark. Frankly, after how they treated your girl. I don't understand why you're helping them." Jane said.
"Because… It's what Clem wants me to do…" Molly said. "I wouldn't be doing it if not for her."
Jane just hummed in response.
They reach an abandoned car, and Jane begins searching it. There's not much of use inside.
The two keep walking.
"I wouldn't have helped them if they treated someone I care about that way… Just saying…" Jane clears her throat and looks into the distance. "Alright! Jackpot!"
Jane and Molly eventually reached a mobile home park. Two geeks lie in front of the entrance.
"Bet these walkers got some good stuff..." Jane said.
"Let's hope." Molly says.
Jane stabs one of the walkers in the head with an awl. Molly handles the other one. They search them for anything useful.
Molly finds some bullets which she pockets.
Jane ends up finding a nail file on the walker she was searching. "Oh wow. These things are great. Sharpen a blade, strike a flint...My sister, Jaime always had one in her purse. It'd jab my hand when I went reaching in..."
They come across another walker and Jane stabs it in the head, just to be sure.
The two move the geek to search it, and Molly notices a hat. "Oh shit. This is Nick's hat."
"Geez… Looks they didn't make it… Guess we should head back." Jane said.
"Don't play that bullshit. All this mean is he was in the area. They're probably around here somewhere." Molly said.
"Maybe, but where?" Jane asked.
Molly looked towards a trailer and notices some geeks banging against the door. "Fuck that's a lot of them…"
"There's only one thing that would get the interest of the dead like that." Jane said.
"People…" Molly muttered.
Clementine was seated next to Rebecca while the woman was silently rubbing her stomach. "I really wanted to help."
"You are helping, sweetie." Rebecca said.
"But I'm just sitting here… I wanna help get supplies." Clementine argues.
"Clem, you can barely walk right now. You're safer if you stay here…" Rebecca said.
Clementine frowns and doesn't respond.
Vince and Wyatt arrived. Vince was helping along a wounded Russell.
"Where's Carlos?" Wyatt asked.
"Carlos… didn't make it…" Rebecca frowned.
"W-What?" Wyatt asked. "Fuck… What happen?"
"He was shot during the escape." Rebecca explained.
"Fuck… We tried to treat his wound, but we were hoping Carlos could check it out." Wyatt said. "Bullet passed right through…"
"I'll be fine… It's just my leg…" Russell muttered.
"How's Sarah?" Vince asked.
"Not great… Molly had to… get her to calm down…" Sarita said.
"Damn… Poor kid…" Vince said. "Where are the others?"
"They haven't come back yet…" Rebecca explained.
"Fuck…" Wyatt said.
Vince helped Russell over to a bench to take a seat. Russell groaned in pain.
"Here, let me have a look." Sarita said. "I'm not a doctor, but I can do my best. Kenny help me… Please."
Kenny gave a nod in response.
The two began looking over Russell's wound.
"We need to find a way inside." Molly said as she looked to the trailer.
"If we can make enough noise on this side...we can lure those walkers over here. Then we might just be able to go through that other trailer and get to them. What do you think of that? I mean, I'm just making it up as I go along..." Jane said.
"Sounds like a plan…" Molly said.
"Good. Now we just need a way to grab their attention." Jane said.
Molly looked around, trying to think of an idea. "We can use the horn of that truck. We lean one of the geeks against it and it'll keep it going."
"Sounds good."
The two go to one of the corpses and drag it toward the truck.
Molly moves one of the geeks into the truck and lean him against the wheel, gaining the underad creatures' attention. "There we go."
"Come on!" Jane said.
The two rush to enter the trailer, finding a few geeks inside. The two women manage to handle them easily.
Once the geeks are dead, they realize the horn has stopped horning, and the geeks start to turn back towards the trailer.
"Crap! We gotta move it!" Jane said.
They leave the trailer and run to the other one.
Molly tries it but it's locked. The woman that attempts to break the door down while Jane watches her back. She eventually managed to kick the door in.
They run into the trailer and close the door.
"Help me block this. Hurry!" Jane calls.
They push a sideboard in front of the door, barricading it from any geeks getting in.
"Who's out there?" Luke calls.
Luke leaves the room and walks up to Molly and Jane, holding his injured side. "Molly? Oh, thank god. When I heard y'all banging through the door... I thought the lurkers'd come to take what's left of us."
"There's a shitload of them out there. We need to move." Molly said.
Jane nodded. "I'll second that."
"Well, we woulda left already, but those walkers trapped us. Not to mention, Nick's in pretty bad shape…." Luke said.
"Fuck… Let me see him." Molly said.
Luke nodded in response. "Okay…"
Russell was going to be fine as far as they could tell. They managed to clean his wound and bandage it.
"We're back." Mike called out. "We brought water."
"That's a lot of water." Clementine noted.
"Yeah, it's exactly what we need." Kenny said.
"It must have been really heavy." Clementine said.
"It was but it'll be worth it." Mike said.
"Oh my God, Russell!" Bonnie gasped as she noticed his injury. She rushed over. "What happened?"
"He got shot. We took care of it the best we could." Vince said.
"It's just my leg… I should be okay…" Russell said.
"You don't have to act so tough… I'm sure it hurts like hell…" Bonnie said.
"I'm fine… Really… Don't worry about me." Russell said.
"The others aren't back yet?" Mike asked.
"No… Not yet." Rebecca said.
"So what do we do?" Mike asked.
"We just gotta wait… there's nothing we can do." Bonnie said. She went over to Rebecca. "They'll be here soon."
"I sure hope so…" Mike said.
"How are you Rebecca." Bonnie asked.
"I'm… I'm doing okay, I'm hanging in there." Rebecca said.
"What about you, Clem?" Bonnie asked.
"I'm… fine…" Clementine mumbled.
"Are you sure?" Bonnie asked.
Clementine nodded. "Yeah…. I don't want to talk right now…" Not to Bonnie at least.
"That's okay, I understand… I know you might be mad at me, but…. I wanted to apologize…" Bonnie said. "And I… I have something to give you. Carlos told me to grab it…"
Clementine didn't want anything from Bonnie. She didn't even want to talk to Bonnie. "What is it?"
"Bonnie, are you sure now's the right time?" Rebecca frowned.
"It's a better time than any…" Bonnie said.
"Shouldn't you wait until Molly is here…?" Rebecca asked.
"Well, maybe, but I feel like she should know." Bonnie replied.
"Know what?" Clementine asked.
"I…. Carlos told me to grab this for you…" Bonnie digs in her bag and pulls out a box.
"What's that?" Bonnie hands it over to the child who reluctantly takes it.
Clementine reads the label, and her heart drops.
They enter the room in the trailer, Nick is laid out on the floor.
"He's been in and out of it. He got shot in the side… It's not good…" Luke said. "I did my best to stop the bleeding. He… He lost a lot of blood. I mean a lot… And we were stuck in here for hours without any bandages or anything, so…. I'm sure that didn't help…"
"Just calm down… I'm gonna do the best I can with him." Molly knelt down to try to access Nick's injuries. Luke was right. It was bad…
"Listen, I, uh... They're gonna tear this place open pretty soon. We can't stay. So we gotta get him up, or we gotta..." Jane trailed off.
"Gotta what?" Luke inquired.
Jane didn't respond.
"How are we gonna get pass the lurkers?" Luke asked.
"We'll figure something out." Jane said. "But we gotta move."
Molly kept her focus on Nick.
The geeks soon start pounding on the windows.
Jane's eyes widened. "Crap, we're surrounded. What-what about the skylight?"
Luke looked up to the skylight and sighed. "All we got."
The front door partially opens as walkers push back the barricade.
"Get to the skylight! Now! "We can't waste anymore time… We have to go."
Molly checked Nick's pulse; it was weak but still there. Nick was alive, but gravely injured. His pulse was barely detectible. Molly knew if they didn't treat him properly soon, he wouldn't make it.
Blood had soaked through the cloth that Luke had used as a bandage. Molly removed it to check the wound. Molly probed the bullet wound with worry. The bullet seemed to have passed through the right side and exited through Nick's lower back. Some bleeding was still apparent, but it had slowed significantly. She searched for something to use as a compress and applied that to the wound. It wasn't great, but it would have to do for now. She checked Nick for a fever, hoping that the young man didn't have an infection.
"How do we get him up there...?" Luke asked.
"Find some rope." Molly ordered.
They spent some time searching but it was to no avail.
"I don't see any rope." Luke called to Molly.
"We can use the bedsheets." Jane suggested.
"What are we gonna to with the bedsheets?" Luke asked.
"Tie them together and used them as a rope." Jane said.
Molly and Luke stripped the sheets and blankets from the bed and began to tie them together. Within a matter of minutes, they had a rope.
"Alright." Molly secured the rope around Nick's body, just under the young man's armpits.
"Luke, you first. We need you up top." Jane said.
Jane and Molly boosts Luke up through the skylight.
"Okay, come on!" Luke then helps Jane up.
Molly makes sure the makeshift rope is secure around Nick and lifts him to his feet with some struggle. She tossed the rope up to Luke and Jane. The rope tightened and strained as they began to lift Nick's body up.
"I got him!" Luke called as they finally managed to pull him up.
With Nick up, Luke and Jane help pull Molly onto the roof before they take a moment to catch their breaths.
"That was close… That was close as hell…"
"I don't want it! I'm not taking that!" Clementine snapped.
"Clem, I know you don't want to. And I know you're probably scared. But it's best for us to know." Bonnie said.
"I don't want it. I won't use it." Clementine said.
"We have to know, Clem… When Molly gets here, I'm sure she'll tell you the same." Rebecca said.
"I don't want it. Why would I need to use that if I took the birth control? That means I can't have a baby." Clementine retorted.
"Because you missed a few days of it…. You have to use it, Clem." Bonnie said.
"No! I want Molly!" Clementine exclaimed, eyes filling with tears. "I want Molly! I want Molly! I want Molly!"
Kenny was concerned by the girl's sudden yelling and stormed over. "What the hell are you doing to her? Leave her alone!"
"Kenny settle down, please… We don't need to get ourselves worked up." Sarita said.
"Then they should stop working Clem up." Kenny argued.
"We… We were just trying to help her." Bonnie said.
"Well, you ain't helping. Just back off." Kenny said.
"Clem, how about you come sit with me…" Sarita said, hugging the girl and leading her away. "It's okay…"
The child didn't protest. She just wanted Molly to come back soon.
It had been silent for a while as Luke and Molly did their best to haul an unconscious Nick along.
Luke groaned. "Okay... Look, I hate to ask this, but...are we there yet?"
"We're not far." Jane said.
"What happened in there? When we went in there you were ready to help, but then...something changed." Molly said.
Jane sighed, "Look, I'd just... I'd seen that kind of thing before. I just didn't want to stick around for the bitter end. Sorry, I...I don't mean to sound harsh. It's just the way things are."
"So you think he's gonna die?" Luke asked.
"Look at him, Luke… He's practically already dead…" Jane said. "I dragged my sister across four states. And every morning, she'd say she wasn't getting up. So I'd convince her. Or push her. Or goddamn carry her, if I had to. Until this time... Walkers cornered us. Forced us to the roof. And then when they kept coming...I...I couldn't make her jump. Couldn't throw her. So I tried something else. I told her she could have what she wanted. And I left her there. Jumped to the next building over by myself.
Luke's eyes widened. "You left your sister?"
"How could you leave your sister?" Molly asked.
"I don't...I don't know..." Jane stammered. "It killed me for a long time. But I finally realized that I'd put her on a forced march through hell, when all she really wanted was for me to let her go. It made me realize, you can't save everyone…"
"Jane..." Luke frowned.
"I'm just being honest… I'm sure you know that as well…" Jane said.
"We'll try our best… He'll make it…" Luke said.
"You can try your best all you want…. Sometimes your best isn't enough…" Jane replied.
It wasn't much longer before Luke, Molly, Jane and Nick arrived at the meeting spot.
"Son of a bitch. You found 'em!" Mike exclaimed.
"Yeah, I'm a little amazed myself, to tell you the truth. If it weren't for Molly and Jane, well...I don't know what would've happened." Luke said.
"Oh my God… How's Nick…" Rebecca asked as she went over to them with Bonnie's help.
"Not great, Rebecca…" Luke said. "But he's fighting through."
"Here, let's lay him down…" Bonnie said.
They proceeded to do so. They all hoped he would be okay.
Molly noticed Clementine who was sitting by Sarita. The child was silently sucking her thumb. She also noticed Sarah sitting alone against a wall. Molly decided to check in on her first. "Sarah, how are you doing?"
"I just want my dad." Sarah muttered.
"I know…" Molly said.
"When he...when he gets here, we should all go back to the cabin. We're safe there…" Sarah said.
"He isn't coming, Sarah. He's dead..." Molly said to the girl.
"He'll be here soon. I know he will. He always comes back…" Sarah said.
Molly sighs at that deciding to leave the girl alone for now. She walked over to check on Clementine but was stopped by Bonnie.
"Molly, can I borrow you for a sec…?" Bonnie asked.
Molly sighed at this. "What's up?"
"I ain't gonna sugarcoat this. That baby's coming even faster than Rebecca's letting on. And we're gonna need a plan… A place to go… I was hoping you might have something in mind…" Bonnie said.
"I'll have to think on it…" Molly replied. "Did Shel and the others find anything?"
"They're not back yet…" Bonnie said.
"Hopefully they get back soon…" Molly said.
"And about Nick… Do you… think he's gonna pull through…?" Bonnie asked.
"I can't answer that… Things look pretty bad right now…" Molly replied honestly.
"Yeah… This is awful…" Bonnie frowned.
"It is…." Molly muttered. "Let me check on my girl…"
"Oh… Okay… Go ahead…" Bonnie said.
Molly walked over to Clementine who was still seated with Sarita, sucking her thumb. "Hey, Clem, are you okay, kiddo?"
"No... They were being mean to me..." Clementine said.
"Who was being mean to you?" Molly asked.
"Bonnie." Clementine frowned.
"Bonnie?" Molly looked over to the woman then back to Clementine. "What did she do?"
"She gave her the pregnancy test and it upset Clem." Sarita explained.
"Because I don't need it. I don't want it, Molly." Clementine said.
Molly sighed, that wasn't Bonnie place… But she knew Clementine would have to use it at some point. "Clem… You… You'll have to use it eventually. We need to be sure…"
"N-No… I don't want to…" Clementine said.
"Clem…" Molly sighed.
"I don't wanna talk." The child turned away from her.
Molly frowned. "Alright, kid… We'll talk later."
Molly slowly made her was to the rest of the group.
"Where are Shel and Becca?" Luke asked.
"They're still looking around." Rebecca explained.
"We found a few things." Mike said.
"That's good. What did you find?" Luke asked.
"A jacket and some more water." Mike replied.
"That's good… We need everything we can get." Molly said.
"So we don't have a doctor and Nick's gravely injured. And Rebecca's baby could be coming any minute now. What the hell are we gonna do?" Wyatt asked.
"We cleaned and bandaged Nick's wound… There's not much more we can do right now…" Molly said.
"It sounds to me like we're screwed." Jane said.
"Don't say that. We'll figure something out." Luke said.
"Like what?" Mike asked.
"Does anybody here have any medical knowledge?" Vince asked.
Nobody raises their hands.
"Fuck..." Vince muttered.
"I... I know some basics. My wife was a vet..." Kenny said. "And I had a son. I can help Rebecca, with the childbirth part."
"Shel can probably too, she has a little sister, and all..." Vince said.
"Alright, that's settled. Shel and Sarita can help me out..." Kenny said.
"Alright, fair enough..." Molly said.
"What about Nick?" Luke asked.
"We just gotta wait and see what happens." Jane said.
"We should stitch it and give him an antibiotic, and just... hope it helps..." Bonnie said.
"What if it doesn't?" Jane asked.
"We'll deal with it when it comes to that." Molly said.
"We should think about that now." Jane said.
"Jane, please... Don't do this right now..." Rebecca spoke up.
"How's Sarah?" Luke asked.
"Not great... She's woken up but, she hasn't moved from that spot." Rebecca explained.
"Maybe Clem could try talking to her." Luke suggested.
"Clementine's not in the best shape now either…" Molly said.
Shel and Becca soon returned informing them what they found. "We found a spot. The building around back has an observation deck." Shel said.
"Somewhere the baby will be safer? It's coming so much faster than I thought." Rebecca said.
"It's high up, so it should be safe from walkers." Shel said. "There's only one problem... It's locked."
"I can handle that." Jane said.
"You sure?" Shel asked.
Jane nodded. "Yeah, just show me where it is."
Shel nods in response. "Alright, follow me."
The two women walk off, with Becca following.
"Everyone else keep an eye out. We don't need any walkers creeping up on us." Kenny said.
The others nod in agreement. As some of the group members start to fan out to check the area Rebecca suddenly gasps, clutching to her stomach.
"Oh shit…" Rebecca suddenly said, feeling a liquid trickle down her legs. "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit."
"Rebecca, what is it- Oh fuck…. Does that mean what I think it means?" Luke inquired.
Her water just broke. The baby was coming…
