Summary: Appearances can be deceiving. Weiss may look as cold as ice, but she is actually a touch-starved cuddle monster.

*White Rose Week 2020 Day 5: Nap Time/Cuddle.

Shut up! Don't touch me!

Ruby fondly recalled the melodramatic moment she and Weiss shared back when they were teenagers. It was during their game of emotions — her kingdom had been left defenseless thanks to RNGesus, and Weiss was three steps away from conquering all of Remnant on the board. However, Weiss' victory had been seized right before her eyes after Yang played a trap card that ended her tyranny.

Both were teetering at the edge of defeat, so she sought comfort in Weiss' arm before her kingdom fell inevitably. A children's card game was a rollercoaster of emotions, but their relationship from the start had been a test of feelings. It was filled with mixed signals. One day Weiss would reject all forms of physical affection, the next she would pull her partner into a tight hug in contradiction to her own words.

"What are you thinking about?"

Fragments of the past faded away into a distant memory. Ruby smiled warmly at the cuddle monster snuggling at her side in bed. She never understood how Weiss managed to make tangled bed hair look so darn good. It was strewed in all sorts of strange places, worse than her own on a bad hair day.

"Morning baby."

"Mmm, morning babe." Weiss drawled sleepily. The mattress dipped when she wormed her way closer into Ruby. Once she found a comfortable spot, she snuggled her chin into the crook of her girlfriend's neck. Any space left between them had been gobbled up as Weiss intertwined her legs between Ruby's, while draping one arm across her body. "You didn't tell me what you were thinking about."

Ruby drew small circles along Weiss' back and asked, "remember how you used to not like hugs?"

"Since when?"

"During our days in Beacon."

Weiss decided she didn't like the position anymore. She writhed on top of Ruby at a snail pace. Ruby was no stranger to Weiss' cuddling habits, but the additional weight pressing on top always squeezed the life out of her.

"I don't remember," Weiss purred. She curled over on top of Ruby's chest like a kitten that had discovered the coziest place on Remnant. She nestled the top of head underneath Ruby's chin and fluttered her eyes shut.

Ruby eagerly coiled her arms around Weiss' waist despite the fist full of tousled hair in her face. They were like feathers tickling against her skin. By now, she was already used to it. She continued to stroke Weiss' back in a way that Weiss liked.

"I think you just got heavier, Weiss," Ruby commented casually.

"You know what they say about relationships?" Weiss mumbled as she was barely half awake. "It makes you gain weight. Do you know what that means?"

Smiling, Ruby took a guess. "Us rounding out provides each other warmth?"

"Exactly," Weiss happily sighed.

She rearranged herself on top again, this time burying the side of her head into Ruby's chest. Once she stilled, she listened to the soothing sound of Ruby's heart beating at a normal rate.

"You're so warm, Ruby." Weiss purred again. The arms returned back to her waist as they wrapped around like a blanket of security.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Ruby nuzzled the top of Weiss' head with her nose as her way of demanding for an answer.

"You have a lot of insulation and…" Weiss tiptoed a warm and gentle hand underneath Ruby's shirt and grazed her stomach. The hard grooves Weiss had felt in the past were now soft like blubber. "You don't have abs anymore."

Ruby could not believe what she had heard. "Whaaaaaat…" The truth came out, but she shot it down out of denial. "Pssshhh… No, I still got some."

"They must be hiding." Weiss squeezed a fairly meaty section.

"Ow!" Ruby winced when Weiss' fingers dug into her stomach. Okay, maybe her metabolism wasn't working like how they used to and maybe she had gotten chubbier. "Abs or no abs, you still like me, yeah?"

"Babe." Weiss instantly lifted her head and clambered up Ruby's chest so she could meet her gaze. "I," she leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips, "love you. No matter what shape or size you are, I will always love you."

"Even my love handles?"

"Love handles, muffin tops, belly fat," Weiss listed. "Your excessive consumption of sugar, atrocious habits of eating after brushing, lack of flossing…"

Ruby giggled. "I love you too, Weiss." She leaned forward and snatched a longer lasting kiss from Weiss that had them pulling and coming back for seconds, thirds even.

Weiss happily surrendered to every single kiss until she fell back on top of Ruby and cradled her closely in content.

"Now stop with these silly thoughts and cuddle me," she demanded.

"I am!" Ruby whined. "Buut… my bladder is telling me to use the bathroom."

"Nooo," Weiss protested. She hooked her nails into Ruby's shirt like a cat who refused to leave. "You are forbidden from leaving this bed. It's warm. You're warm. Why would you leave such a warm place?"

Ruby was enjoying the cute display of her cuddle monster. "But Weiss —"

"No."

"Nature is calling," Ruby said in a singsong voice. It was a slow and difficult process to peel Weiss off. Every time she managed to get her fingers to unhook, they would instantly latch right back on like a starfish. "Come on, baby. I need to use the bathroom. I'll come back really quick. I promise."

Ruby watched how that pile of tangled snow move when Weiss shook her head.

"Please?" Ruby begged politely.

Then came another head shake.

"I guess we're doing this the hard way."

Using force, Ruby rolled over until their position reversed. Weiss, hanging an inch over the bed, had clung herself onto Ruby like a humanized koala. The morning air sneaked underneath the blankets and Weiss shuddered at the cold temperature. She still refused to let go.

"I'm gonna take you to the bathroom with me," Ruby warned her. It wouldn't be the first time that had happened, or the second. "You'll be leaving this really warm bed and blankets for the freezing — "

Weiss released her grip. She plopped back onto the bed and burrowed into the blanket covers like an animal going into hibernation. Heading into the cold bathroom made up of solid tiles did not appeal to her.

Ruby smiled at the small, messily wrapped burrito that Weiss turned herself into. "I'll be back."

Weiss grumbled in response. She heard her girlfriend's feet moving across the floorboard for the bathroom. Lulling to sleep with her eyes fluttering shut every so often and a little longer than the last, she heard the flushing of the toilet and feet pattering out of the bathroom.

"Come back to bed, baby," Weiss whined softly, the blankets muffling her voice.

Ruby wiggled her way underneath the blankets all the while cooing, "I'm here, I'm here."

The second Ruby laid comfortably on her back, Weiss curled into her side and buried her face deep into Ruby's neck where the ends of her red hair had reached. Ruby carded through Weiss' hair and felt the silky locks flowing in between her fingers. The relaxing gesture made Weiss want to melt, so she started drifting back to sleep.

"You're so beautiful." Ruby, being the cute dolt, whispered out of the blue.

"Mm." Weiss made a sound of acknowledgment. She was listening, but she was also appreciating how her head had slotted so perfectly between Ruby's neck and shoulder.

"Everyone thinks that I'm the octopus latching cuddle monster in our relationship. But really, no one loves cuddling more than you do."

"Mm."

"Remember the time you chased me all the way to the edge of the bed just because you wanted to be spooned?"

"Mm."

"Then there was that time I got us a body pillow, but you incinerated it because you were jealous."

"Mm."

"Weiss." Ruby nudged her. "Are you listening?"

Weiss sluggishly crawled back on top of Ruby and looped her arms around her girlfriend's shoulder. She barely lifted her head as she planted many lazy kisses on Ruby's chin.

"Of course I am," Weiss spoke groggily.

"Then there was that time I missed two consecutive days of class because you wanted more snuggles." Ruby sighed fondly at the memories.

"I totally did not," Weiss huffed out in denial.

"My attendance record was proof."

"Fabrication."

"And my failing grades?"

"Another fabrication. You must've had help from Jaune."

Ruby laughed after catching her girlfriend softly giggling. "You know," Ruby said. "I think I know what snuggling position you like."

"What?" Weiss asked curiously.

"This." Ruby shrugged her shoulders as if it helped indicate the position.

"This?" Weiss didn't know what she was referring to.

"Yeah, you lying on top of me."

"Oh, this." Weiss then proceeded to nuzzle her affectionately. She did like this position a lot. Ruby was the primary source of heat which had been airlocked by the blankets covering over them. But the warmth wasn't the best part. The best part was when Ruby would wrap her arms around her and drown her with an endless sea of kisses. "It's a very comfortable position. I can understand why Blake does this to Yang."

"Can I try it?" Ruby started teetering their bodies side to side, as if she was ready to flip their positions at any moment in time.

"Nooo." Weiss clung onto her girlfriend's shirt for safety. She felt as if she was riding in a small canoe on rough waves given the way Ruby rocked back and forth.

"Too late!"

"R-Ruby!" Weiss shrieked. With a quick turn, their position switched.

Ruby, now curled on top of Weiss, purred in delight. "You're right. This is really comfortable."

Weiss blew the clumps of hair away from her face, frowning. She was wide awake much to her displeasure. "I'm going to push you off the bed."

"Nooo," Ruby whined, clinging into Weiss' shirt like a cat whose claws got caught in a sweater. "You wouldn't do that to me."

"I would," Weiss admitted. She deliberately leaned onto one side and watched how Ruby slid into that direction. It was funny how gravity worked. Ruby released those puppy dog eyes, but Weiss just smirked without remorse. "You're going to fall."

Ruby changed tactics because Plan A Puppy Eyes wasn't working. She fastened her grip into the mattress sheet for maximum stability instead of clinging onto Weiss.

"Don't make me lick your face," Ruby warned her. She smirked because a slobber covered in morning breath could possibly be Weiss' worst nightmare.

Weiss raised an eyebrow at her. "You wouldn't dare…"

Ruby stuck her tongue out and wiggled it in a not so suggestive manner. To make matters worse, a wad of saliva inched its way down to the tip of her tongue.

Weiss shrieked and pushed Ruby off. All the blankets on the bed had been dragged down by Ruby when she fell overboard. Weiss rolled up to the edge of the bed and smiled apologetically.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to push you to your death."

"Liar." Ruby stuck her tongue out. "You totally did." The blankets had softened her fall and she looked as if she was laying on top of a giant, cushiony cloud. "You can make it up to me."

"How?" Weiss asked sweetly.

Ruby opened up her arms.

Without any further explanations, Weiss crawled down from the bed already knowing the implication behind it. She slotted herself perfectly into Ruby who embraced her in return.

"Better?" Weiss snuggled on top of her. Cuddling in the bed and cuddling on the floor weren't that much different to her, as long as Ruby was there.

"Better." Ruby pulled Weiss as close as she could. "You?"

Weiss tried adjusting herself again, and Ruby let out a huff of air until Weiss stopped moving.

"Better," Weiss finally said as she melted into Ruby's body like butter. "But you know what would put the cherry on top?"

"What?"

"Kissing."

They spent the whole morning snuggling and kissing on the floor.
