Hey guys! Here's the new chapter right on time! As promised, this chapter is longer and plot-heavy (I hope)

To respond to a review from Wolf heart 22:

Yes, Elsa is definitely having a rough time mentally now. :( That healing water certainly wasn't designed for people with powers it seems.

Enjoy!

Grand Pabbie frowns at me.

"No."

I frown right back with my hands on my hip. All morning, I've watched the troll direct groups of trolls left and right to search the nearby mountains for different ingredients. Even Olaf got to go with some of them! However, when I ask to go help search…he tells me no.

"And why not?" I huff.

He sighs.

"I need you here. Your memories are the closest to your sister's."

He looks down and I notice again how tired he must be.

"Your sister is harboring troubling emotions about you. We will need to copy some of your memories in a way so that way she has a starting point with healing properly."

Before I can question this, thundering hooves grow louder and we turn to the entrance of the valley. All eyes move to the entrance and Kristoff is the first to react. He turns to the biggest group of troll kids.

"Go! Tuck and hide!"

The young trolls nod and curl up as they roll away, many of the adult trolls roll up and follow them. The few who stayed behind looked ready to help Kristoff and me get away. After a moment, a lone Arendelleian guard comes riding up. He pulls back on the reign of his horse and jumps down quickly before we can say anything. Then to our surprise, He kneels in front of me.

"Your highness! I was worried I wouldn't find you before the others!"

I look at him alarmed and I recognize him as he looks up.

"Eric? The trigger happy guard?!"

He blushes looking down in shame and I finally process what he said.

"Wait what, others?"

Eric nods standing up stiffly.

"Prince Hans has ordered all loyal to the queen to find Princess Anna and return her to the castle. However, I fear he has ill intent."

Kristoff places and arm between us and the young guard. He looks at him with slanted eyes.

"Shouldn't all of the guards be loyal to the queen?" Kristoff asks.

The guard nods frowning.

"Yes, but I think he hired men to become guards. Many of our high ranking officers suddenly retired or were sent overseas quickly. Many of the new leaders are not anyone I recall ever seeing."

He's replacing our guards? That explains the ones I didn't recognize when I tried to free Elsa. Kristoff frowns stepping up.

"Hang on, how did you find us and why should we trust you if that's the case?" My boyfriend challenges.

The young guard nods to me clearly more comfortable talking to the iceman versus royalty.

"Because Princess Anna was missing. Many things didn't add up. From what I could gather with the queen's reaction when she first returned, I suspected that her decision to give up the crown wasn't without influence. She was not herself from what I've heard about her."

He pauses and I nod.

"You're right, she's confused right now."

The guard looks relieved and almost sinks down.

"Oh good, I was worrying that I was going against the queen's orders."

I grin.

"Oh trust me, the queen is going to really happy you're doing this."

He looks hopeful.

"Prince Hans most likely has no idea that three of us were sworn to secrecy, three days prior to his arrival. That, along with the list the princess had me make of the contents of the queen's travel bag. I was told during that investigation about the locations the queen would frequent outside the town."

He glances at Grand Pabbie nervously.

"This was one of those places I determined she wasn't at during her disappearance."

He looks back at Kristoff and me.

"I thought it might be a place you would go to. So I came to warn you."

I tilt my head slightly.

"Warn us about what?"

The guard looks at me looking nervous.

"The people are getting angry, Princess Anna. They talk of the queen being unreasonable and others have started talking of protesting.

I frown.

"So what I saw about the guards doing things under Elsa's name is still happening," I mutter sharing a look with Kristoff. Eric nods.

"No one outside the castle knows that Prince Hans is even in Arendelle."

Anger flares up in my chest. How dare that monster hide behind my sweet sister's title!

"This troubling news, indeed" Grand Pabbie speaks up rubbing his chin; "Your people's hearts will certainly be swayed to his side if they think Queen Elsa is no longer fit to be queen."

I feel a pit in my stomach as Kristoff gently rubs my shoulder. Eric nods before looking up as if he just remembered something.

"Oh, Prince Hans has now surrounded himself with a private group of guards."

I raise an eyebrow.

"So?" I ask.

He looks hesitant to answer.

"They are all armed with swords of ice. I figured the Queen is the only one capable of crafting such a thing."

I recall the swords of ice in Elsa's room and I wince. As much as I fear the answer to my next question, I need to know the answer.

"And is Elsa okay?" I ask.

The young guard grimaces before looking down, his shoulders sink and I find myself holding my breath.

"No one has seen her for a few days now."

My eyes widen.

"What?!" My voice breaks.

Oh gosh, he killed her! I did this! I caused her-

My thoughts are halted when I feel the ice harvester gripping me enough to calm me enough to hear Eric continue.

"Normally we would see her going to dinner with Prince Hans, but for a few days…she hasn't come out for dinner. He does post guards outside her door now though."

I start breathing again.

She's alive!

I sink down in relief despite Kristoff trying to catch me.

"She's alive" I finally voice.

Kristoff looks at Eric.

"Do you know when the coronation is?"

The guard nods.

"Yes, it's in two days' time."

I jump back up.

"Two days!"

Kristoff frowns.

"We should go there tomorrow morning and –"

I cut the ice harvester off.

"No."

The three look at me baffled.

"No?"

I sigh. I rushed into the castle last time and I only got Elsa in more trouble. All I can see is Hans standing over my sister because of my rash actions. No, we need to take this carefully. I won't allow my sister to get hurt again because I couldn't think things through first. I look at the group who wait for my response.

"We need to crash the coronation. We can't allow him time to fix things before the ceremony. And I'm not risking leaving Elsa behind for the third time! So we leave tomorrow night and not a moment sooner." I finally say.

Kristoff almost looks surprised but then his face takes a look of concern.

"Are you sure, Anna?"

I nod before looking back at Eric.

"I need you to go back and keep an eye on things. Try to confirm my sister is safe and figure out a way to sneak us in in two days."

The young guard nods and salutes.

"As you command, Princess!"

He falters slightly.

"Are you sure it's safe for you to go yourself?"

I nod.

"I'm not leaving my sister."

Eric nods but looks at me concerned and Grand Pabbie steps up.

"I think we will need to plan to act then."

That evening….

I snap awake.

"Elsa!" I gasp out.

Looking around, I see tons of boulders and Kristoff snoring nearby. I stand up confused. I don't think I was having a nightmare, so what woke me? I place a hand over my heart, something is wrong.

I can feel it. But what?

I carefully climb off the moss and step quietly around the sleeping tolls. I reach the entry of the valley before looking back at my boyfriend. My heart thuds strong enough to surprise me and I look back towards the dark path ahead leading to the forest. My eyes widen when I see a familiar blue glow.

"Elsa?" I whisper.

It grows brighter but then moves deeper into the forest.

"Elsa!"

I half call out as I rush after it without hesitation. Did she escape Hans? Is that why I woke up? Why is she running away? I turn the corner, no longer able to see the valley and with the forest before me. I skid to a stop and look around. Where did she go?

Suddenly, a small ball of light comes shooting down the path from the forest, and Ice swirls around me and I cover my face before looking to see snow falling off of the orb of light. An icy breeze is making me shiver. my jaw drops when they take shape.

Before me is a tall figure of ice- no...snow? The figure shimmers and I realizes that its Elsa. Even though it lacks the finer details of my sister I see the distinct side braid and her smile that are clear indicators, not to mention her ice dress that seems to meld with her ice body.

"Elsa?"

She doesn't respond. I step closer hesitantly and squint at her thinking. Is Elsa doing this? I didn't even know she could do something like this. I mean she made Olaf, but something about this just seems…different?

Another chill brushes past my back and I turn to look behind me. I turn to see the snow isn't done yet, and I notice figures forming and dancing around me with familiar steps.

I've seen this somewhere...

The snow figures are paired up moving in sync with imaginary music. Icy ballgowns swish with each step and I move out of the way as a couple spins past.

A ball?

Movement on my left prompts me to turn to look back at Elsa. She's looking around almost wildly clutching her one ungloved hand.

Wait, where did the glove come from?

I notice she's looking past me as I approach her. Fear covers her features all of a sudden and I stop to look behind me. I see the figures multiply, surrounding Elsa who looks to be pleading with…

I stiffen.

Is...is that me?!

An ice figure with twin braids is pointing accusingly at my sister glaring. Elsa shakes her head backing up, only for the figures around her to grow in size till they tower over her.

My heart drops.

Ice figures with crossbows take aim at the ice vision of my sister.

"No! Elsa, watch out!" I call out.

As quickly as it came, the scene dissolves in a matter of seconds and I'm left looking around befuddled as my heart is beating wildly. As the light fades I start to calm down thinking of what all that just meant.

Well, okay then…

What was that? That never happened. My heart hurts at how terrified Elsa looked. In fact, it reminded me of how she looked at her coronation but her outfit was all wrong. I frown. Another thing, it almost looked like I was ordering the attack on her. My throat tightens.

Is that what she thinks happened?

I clench my fist. Another thing to punch Hans for, if it is.

It grows colder and I spot the orb of light grow bright again before flying around with a trail of snow once more. The snow swirls again and forms trees. I turn to see the last of it swirl to make a copy of my sister again. This time Elsa is walking through the trees with a familiar satchel on her side, smiling to herself.

Suddenly, figures emerge from the forest, and Elsa starts running. Once in a while, She turns shooting ice back at her pursuers looking almost desperate.

Who is she running from?

Then Elsa trips and I almost reach out to catch her, my heart thumping.

She falls and tumbles downward, so it must be some sort of hill she's on. Once she stops rolling at the bottom, a figure steps up to her as she tries to stand. He looks down on her as she looks up at him looking livid. The ice Elsa's mouth moves silently as if she's yelling at the figure. The figure swings the hilt of his sword downward just as Elsa starts to raise her hand. Her hand drops and the figure crouches down to pick her up. He kicks her discarded satchel away as he turns back towards me and I gasp.

The figure is Hans.

He almost seems to be staring right at me before he smirks and starts walking...still carrying my now unmoving sister. Snapping out of my stupor, lunge for him.

"Let her go, now!" I growl.

To no surprise, I go right through the ice and ice Hans keeps walking to where an ice horse has appeared.

I watch as the villain positions himself on the horse with Elsa limply sitting in front of him before he starts galloping off, away from where My sister was going. I start when I hear music, very familiar music. Despite the familiar notes, the notes are slow and weak. Almost as if it knows it's alone in the forest and that something tragic just happened.

Mother's lullaby…

I turn to see the bag open and the box lies on its side. I crouch down and my eyes water, it was actually a music box Elsa was bringing me. Laying near the bottom of the ice box is a tiny contraption that looks to have fallen off the bottom of it. The sounds seem to be trying their hardest to continue, almost as if itself is dying. Despite this, the sounds continue but I can tell it's fading.

"Oh, Elsa," I mutter with my voice cracking.

You can probably tell I took some inspiration from Frozen 2.

I hope you enjoy it!

Be sure to leave a review with your thoughts on what those snowy figures mean!
