Dear diary week 27 June 1st through June 10th

June 1st dear diary mom took us on a secret mission this morning. We got in the car and drove for several hours. When we got to our destination she led us into a big room filled with cocker spaniel puppies. Yes diary we got a puppy her name is spice and shes a cinnamon and cream cocker spaniel who is only 8 weeks old. We had lunch at a near by bakery before heading to the pet store for puppy food training pads a leash and collar toys treats and other items. When we got home we sat up an area near the mud room with her food and water we sat a few training pads in spots around the house and set her basket up in the sewing room and her kennel in moms office. When that was done we took her out back to play. We had salads and sandwiches for a late dinner before starting to leash train spice. I am going to take spice out one more time before bed talk to you tomorrow.
June 2nd dear diary we went to the beach for family fun day where Elsie tried out for a beach volley ball team she should know in a few days if she made it. The little 2 decided to join a sand sculpture group they should have fun. We are staying at our groups beach house for the whole month of June. The rest of the gang is also here. We got here early this after noon after gym tryouts where I was moved to my age groups senior group. When we arrived we stopped at the harbor store for groceries we can walk there from the beach house. We went to a seafood restaurant for supper it was yummy and then we stopped in a taffy shop for a couple pounds of fresh peppermint taffy. From there we went to a couple stores for minor items we forgot. I am signing off I need to rest since we will be busy tomorrow.
June 3rd dear diary we spent the whole day playing on the beach and just enjoying the water Elsie's glad they switched her to a brace for her wrist yesterday so she can play in the water. We have a small area of beach directly in front of the house. We played there most of this morning this afternoon we went into town and played at a trampoline park and mini golf place. We had lunch at burger island burgers yummy. When we got home Elsie went to day 2 of tryouts along with Theresa and Charles and Amanda who had also tried out yesterday. The younger kids went to sand sculpture group while us older kids went to the harbor store for ice cream sandwiches. When everyone was back home we grilled fresh seafood and veggies that the adults had picked up yesterday. When dinner was over mom brought out cookies and candy for a make your own smores bar yummy yummy. We then watched the sunset over the water beautiful. When we went in the little kids headed to there half of the big room for bed while us older kids played games I am signing off so I can go wash my face before bed.
June 4th dear diary we spent another day on the beach mostly getting sun so we can tan about half way through the day the middle kids found out they made there sand volleyball league and Elsie made captain way to go sis. they start real practices tomorrow We dropped the younger ones at sand sculpture group while we swam nearby. We went to a few food trucks on the boardwalk for supper most of it was good but deep fried bacon is disgusting. As were the fried Oreo cookies but fried milky way is ok. When we got home we got ready for a special activity a local ranger was releasing baby sea turtles how very very cool. When we got home us older kids carried or in Nara's case rolled the little kids in and put them to bed. When that was done we got the middle kids in bed and got ready ourselves I am signing off so I can hit the fresh sea air makes me sleepy.
June 5th dear diary we slept in this morning since we were out very very late last night we ate pancakes with strawberry syrup and fresh butter we had brought home from my aunts. The middle kids had a full day of volleyball camp so they left right after breakfast. We took the little kids to the beach for there sand sculpture group day long class with an expert sand sculptor. Us older kids went and played in the ocean and went shopping in town we then ran to the harbor store for ice and milk for the house. When we had picked the other kids from there activities we went to a local pizza place for seafood pizza and drinks. When we got done we went and grabbed fudge for dessert. We then went and settled in for beach movie night with a movie under the stars. When we got home we decided to camp on the balcony and now its time for bed talk to you tomorrow.
June 6th dear diary Elsie's team had there first volley ball game they won 2 sets to 1. It was fun to watch we then went to the sand sculpture practice session as the kids compete next week. We then went to a town a few miles away to a circus museum that was neat to see. When we got home we decided to go to a local Italian place for seafood pasta and a special dessert a sea creature themed cheesecake yummy food. We then went to a local boat launch for a night time boat cruise it was so much fun. When we got home we again carried and wheeled the little kids home and put them in there beds. Going to bed myself talk to you tomorrow good night.
June 7th dear diary we spent today just hanging on the beach fun fun fun we swam and sun tanned. We went on a nature walk Susie stepped on a shell and cut the bottom of her foot slightly. It only needed a band-aid so she was ok we then watched a dolphin jumping out of the water that was an amazing sight. When we came in from the beach we ran to the harbor store for fresh shrimp and clams from local fishermen. When we got home mom and I made shrimp and clam stuffed ravioli with spinach Alfredo sauce. While Marie and her mom made caramel sauce for home aid vanilla ice cream that we made in a toss and catch ice cream ball earlier. When dinner was done we made sundaes and decided to take a night walk to see the night time sea creatures. When we got home it was a little cool so we decided to sleep in the living room instead of the porch signing off so I can get to sleep.
June 8th mom woke us all up early its storming really bad and she said we are under hurricane warning so we need to spend a couple days in a home that friends we know own up land on higher ground since we are in a place that's low lying and could be damaged. She asked us to each pack a small bag while the adults covered the windows with plywood or with a duct tape x to protect the glass. Mom had me help put the patio furniture in the garage while the others put things that could easily blow away the storm was about 6 hours from us so we needed to hurry and get to the safe house. It was a crazy time we ran and got food from the harbor store so we would have things to make if the storm knocked the power out. We also needed batteries for the flash lights fire wood bottled drinks and a block of ice for the cooler. When we got to the safe house we unloaded our things and made sure these windows were also boarded and x with tape just to be safe. It started raining really hard and the wind was blowing mom said it was the edge of the hurricane. We settled in for a long day of games movies and fun before the storm got really bad.
Around noon the wind started to pick up and howl this was pretty dang scary. I was holding Emily who hates thunder Ali was hugging Oliver and reading to him to distract him he also hates thunder. I don't blame them I hate thunder to but I was trying to be brave for them. Around supper time we lost electricity. With a big boom the adults grabbed flashlights and lit candles while us older kids comforted the others as they were all scared mom had Zack and I grab blankets so we can sleep in front of the fire I am signing off since I can't really see using the flash light.
June 9th dear diary the storm went through 11 this morning before the eye came. It started back around 3 with the second side of the storm. Which was just as scary as the first we still don't have power this morning mom made oatmeal and toast in the fire place while the other adults handed out fruit. When we finished eating we played games by flashlight and made shadow puppets. We were all still feeling quiet spooked by the storm as it was super super loud. We watched a trash can fly across the road along with a mailbox and a beach umbrella. It was crazy to watch since it was like watching wizard of oz. We watched for several hours and I found a dog and her puppies under the porch when I went out with mom to secure an awning that had come loose. We took and put them in a playpen that came with the house where mom grabbed a bit of spices food for the mamma. I then went and changed into dry clothes since mine were soaked. From there we ate sandwiches veggie bites and cookies for a late lunch and played more games.
We all took turns washing dust off our faces and hands using a small pump soap and water from a bottle. We then read in front of the fire place as we still had no power. Mom heated a few cans of soup in the fire for supper along with cheese sandwiches. After supper the storm started to die down quite a bit so we decided to sleep in the den one more night. Going to sign off and get ready for bed.
June 10th dear diary we were able to go back to the beach house this afternoon as the storm ended late last night. When we looked outside there was water everywhere mom went and checked the basement she said there was an inch of water her friend was coming to drain it apparently this has happened before. We went back to the beach house it looked pretty good minus a huge branch pulled off a tree in the back yard that was scary to see. I was carrying the large carrier mom's friends lent us for mamma and her puppies Elsie was behind me with spices carrier we took them inside and I put mamma in the sun porch with food water a puppy pad and treats and closed the door. Mom called the animal officer who said we should keep mamma where she was so she didn't stop being a mommy to her babies. They would put found poster up in case someone had lost her during the storm. He also called the mobile vet to come check on them as well as spice who is limping for some reason. The vet came and checked all the dogs out she said spice's foot is sprained she must of done it jumping off the sofa she is in a splint.
The mamma and her puppies are pretty healthy minus eye infections and mamma has an infected paw from a piece of glass. We have meds for all the dogs so they will get them 3 times daily for 2 weeks. Spice is in a cone so she wont undo her splint as is mamma so she won't lick her foot. We have special food for mamma so she can stay strong for her babies. We can't handle babies except to give there medicine for a week then they can be handled gently for a few minuets at a time every day. We have to keep them in the sun porch so spice and patch won't bother them. We cleaned up smaller branches and things from the yards before settling down for grilled seafood tacos and mexi rice.
