Videl and Erasa in a busy café.
"He wants to move back to the East District when he's done with school. He doesn't say it, but I think he doesn't trust that his Dad will take good care of his Mom."
"How do you feel about it?"
"I don't mind. His place has a really nice view, and it's not like I can't visit you guys once in a while. My Dad doesn't need me taking care of him."
"He'll miss you, though."
"I'll bet."
"There's something else you're not telling me. What is your concern?"
"I'm afraid what it'll sound like if I say it out loud."
"Try me."
"I'm not sure I could live without maids taking care of everything for me."
"Really?"
"I was ten the last time I made my bed. I have no memory of doing any housework after that."
"Does Gohan know this about you?"
"He's been living in my place for almost a year now. I'm sure he's noticed."
"And he still wants to marry you?"
"Hey. I asked him to marry me, not to be his housekeeper. Besides, Gohan isn't like that. He's house-trained. After his Dad passed away, he helped his Mom with all kinds of chores. He even raised his younger brother. Now, he would've made an excellent housekeeper. He even cleans his room so well before he leaves for school every morning, the maid complains she has nothing left to do when she gets to his room."
"He cleans his room every morning? Wow. My boyfriend lives like a pig and can't be bothered to clean his place before I visit. Maybe he should hang out with Gohan more often."
"I'll consider loaning him. What's my fiancé going to get out of it?"
"Well, my boyfriend's pretty good in bed. He could teach your fiancé a few tricks."
"That's . . . unnecessary."
"But seriously, you guys have done it, right? He's not still waiting until marriage? Geez, you two have been going out for ages. I can't imagine waiting that long. A girl has her needs."
"I mean, yeah, we've done it. I know we're not as advanced as you or your boyfriend, but we're learning together, and the process has been fun. Anyway . . . maybe we should talk about something else."
"Look at you, so demure."
". . ."
"All right, changing the subject. So, I know you're not big on conforming to traditional gender roles, but it really wouldn't hurt to learn to do some housekeeping skills. Cooking can come in handy. You could even open your own restaurant one day, so you can tell yourself you're not just doing it to be a good wife."
"Gohan does like to eat."
"See? Two birds with one stone. Haven't you heard a way to a man's heart is through his stomach?"
"Sure, but I think with him it's more about quantity than quality. And if we're going to live in the East District to be closer to his family, my cooking skills will never be on par with his Mom's. She's had years of practice, and she knows exactly what he likes."
"True, but . . . why are you trying to compete with his Mom?"
". . . I'm not."
"Oh, I get it. This is what it's all about. You don't want to live with his Mom."
"We're just so different. We have an okay relationship now because we barely spend any time together. I'm afraid if we live in close quarters she'll be cramping my style and at some point I'll explode and ruin everything."
"You mean, you didn't think about that before you asked him to marry you? Haven't you heard? You don't just marry a person, you marry the whole family."
"I was already in too deep by then. I fell for him in high school—I didn't think about these things back then! Besides, he really wants to be able to take care of his Mom. He's just being a good son. I can't take that away from him."
"Well, if it helps, once you and Gohan are married, she'll be your Mom too."
"Rats."
"And your Dad will be his Dad too."
"Huh. That's a . . . really interesting point. You know, if Gohan had thought of that, he probably wouldn't say yes to me either. It takes a brave soul to willingly adopt Mr. Satan as your Dad."
"See? You and Gohan are meant for each other. Come on, don't sweat the small stuff. When there's a will, there's a way."
"Have you always spoken in idioms and sayings?"
"My lips are sealed."
