Me neither. I've said this before: Luigi will always be my favorite Super Mario Brother too.

8B - Vs. Bowser

Meanwhile, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Alex were ready to continue their journey through Bowser's Horrorific Castle.

"How much farther are we from Bowser?" Alex asked Mario.

"Not too far," Mario answered. He looked all around the cafeteria for a secret passage to Bowser's hideout. "We can't go the way we came, so there's got to be another door here somewhere."

"How about behind the curtains?" Luigi asked, pointing to the stage's curtains on the cafeteria's left side.

"Not a bad idea," Mario said. He led Luigi, Alex, and Yoshi onto the stage and pushed open the curtains; in front was a Big Star Door. He approached the door, which opened by itself.

"Come on." Everyone went through the door and found themselves in a small room with Bowser's profile picture from Super Mario Sunshine and a chute in front of it.

"Oh boy… I can't believe we're actually here…" Alex murmured out loud.

"Are you scared, buddy?" Luigi asked Alex.

"Yes and no. I'm ready to help save Princess Peach, but I'm worried about getting hurt badly like Mom said."

"Don't worry, Alex. Me and Mario will protect you all the way. Even Yoshi has your back too," Luigi said with a smile.

"Okay."

Mario stepped up to the chute and peered down it for a few seconds.

"Watch out, Bowser! Here we come!" Mario exclaimed before hopping down the chute; Luigi, Alex, Yoshi jumped in too. After descending for a short while, the group found themselves in a wide and dark room with only a few dim lights here and there.

Just then, evil laughter sounded in the distance; everyone knew Bowser was coming in. True to their word, Bowser flew in with his Koopa Clown Car.

"Well, here we are again, Mario and Luigi!" Bowser announced. "You may have defeated my allies alongside your dinosaur friend and…" Bowser stopped and looked Alex in the eye. "I've been watching you too."

"Um… Hello, Bowser… Hehehe," Alex greeted Bowser nervously; he got frightened a bit upon seeing Bowser for the first time.

"What's wrong, kid? Are you scared to battle me?" Bowser taunted Alex.

"Don't talk to our little brother like that!" Luigi stood in front of Alex. "It's the first time he's seen you and you're already-"

"Your little brother, eh?" Bowser interrupted. "How is someone wearing Mario's clothes your brother?"

"I mean it, Bowser," Mario said with tranquil fury. "If you say one more thing about Alex…"

"Wow. Alex is his name? That's pretty cool. Why don't you move out of the way so I can greet him personally?"

"Don't you dare," Yoshi told Bowser. "You can fight me and the Mario Bros and expect us to give up, but we'll NEVER let you take Alex on one-on-one!"

"All right, then," Bowser smugly replied. "I'll just start with the three of you!"

Without further ado, Bowser activated his Koopa Clown Car's Bullet Bill cannon and started shooting at Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi. They along with Alex ran to dodge the Bullet Bills.

"What do we do?!" Alex cried. "There's no powerups!"

"I'll think of something fast!" Mario shouted. "Keep dodging those Bullet Bills!"

"Okay!"

While Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi tried to think of how to battle Bowser, Alex barely saw a metal box hanging from an iron chain. He ran up to it to get a closer look.

"Is that her cage…?"

Alex cupped his hands around his mouth and called out Peach's name. He heard Peach's voice through the box, but couldn't make out what she was saying.

"I don't know what you're saying, but we're fighting Bowser!" Alex said. "We'll save you soon, okay?"

Alex started to run back to where the Mario Bros and Yoshi were battling Bowser.

"There's nowhere to run or hide, paisanos! Gwahahaha!" Bowser cackled. He continued to shoot Bullet Bills, but kept missing his targets. Mario decided to hop on the next few Bullet Bills to reach Bowser, but he got swiped to the ground before his next move.

"It's not working!" Mario exclaimed.

"What's not working? Your trusty little jumps?" Bowser teased Mario.

Mario had no time to call Bowser out for questioning his jumping abilities as he was focused on Alex's safety and fighting Bowser.

"Let me try!" Luigi said. He got onto Yoshi's back; Yoshi Flutter Jumped until he got as high as Bowser's Koopa Clown Car. Then, Luigi hopped off Yoshi's back, hovered briefly over Bowser, and Ground Pounded his head. Bowser spun out of control for a few seconds.

"I gotta say, Luigi, that was a good move," Bowser stated. "But that's all I can take from you!" He started to use his fire breath to accompany his Bullet Bills, making it difficult for Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi to battle Bowser.

"After I take you all down, I'm going to take over the Mushroom Kingdom and run things Bowser-style!"

Again, Mario tried to jump on the Bullet Bills toward Bowser once the fire breath stopped for a moment. Suddenly, midway through his jump, Mario felt something on his head push him to the ground. He looked up to see Alex, who made a Footstool Jump.

"Here I go!" Alex declared. He Ground Pounded Bowser on his head, making him lose control briefly.

"Brilliant, Alex!" Mario complimented Alex after he landed in front; he high-fived Alex at the same time Bowser recovered.

"Rahghh! No more hitting my head!" Bowser roared. "You're done now!"

Bowser spun rapidly, creating a fiery shield around him.

"Oh no! He's invincible!" Mario cried.

"What happened?!" Luigi called out; he and Yoshi rejoined Mario and Alex.

"Look at Bowser!"

"Gwahaha! Look's like it's time for a barbecue!" Bowser boasted. He started to charge up his breath, gradually leaning his head back.

"What are we gonna do?!" Yoshi asked desperately. "It's hopeless!"

"You're right, Yo-" Suddenly, Mario remembered something that Cybele the Sorceress told him before the adventure began.

*TWO DAYS AGO*

"Thank you, Cybele," Mario thanked Cybele before standing back up.

"Before you go, however, I have one more thing to give you." Cybele pulled out a white envelope with a red circular seal and handed it to Mario. "Your task will not be easy. You may open this if, and only if, there is no hope left."

"What do you mean, 'no hope left'?" Mario asked.

"I cannot answer that question," Cybele replied. "It's up to you and your friends to figure it out."

*PRESENT DAY*

"That's it! Cybele gave us the envelope!" Mario quickly took out the envelope with the red seal and opened it to reveal a small paper. The paper had a short message on it.

"It reads, 'Once the spell is good and done, throw the Magic Mushrooms one by one. What they do I cannot say, but be sure they'll save the day!'" Mario read the message.

"Sounds like a good idea!" Luigi said. He determined that the black Magic Mushroom be used first and tossed it at Bowser right as he was milliseconds from unleashing his charged attack.

The Magic Mushroom created a cloud of black smoke, causing Bowser to go into a coughing fit. His fiery shield slowly faded away.

"Who turned the lights out?!" Bowser demanded as the smoke cleared.

"Run! Go!" Mario ordered Luigi, Yoshi, and Alex. They started running to the right with Mario following them. "Here's the green one!"

Mario tossed the green Magic Mushroom to Yoshi, who threw it toward Bowser. Right as the Magic Mushroom was thrown, it turned into a green bouncy ball one would use in a dodgeball game. The ball hit Bowser in the face, making him fly all over the place again.

The ball came flying back to Yoshi after it hit Bowser's face; Yoshi caught the ball and tossed it to his left. Luigi then grabbed the orange Magic Mushroom, but decided to act like it was a powerup and crushed it in his hand.

He turned into Hammer Luigi, which comprised of a black shell with a white border on his back and a helmet with the same appearance on his head. Luigi immediately began throwing hammers at Bowser, but Bowser barely dodged the hammers in time.

"That's no fair!" Bowser complained. "Give me that bag!" Mario gave the pouch to Alex, who took out the blue Magic Mushroom. Bowser used his fire breath again just as Alex threw the Magic Mushroom; it turned into a giant water ball that extinguished the fire breath. Bowser also got wet from the water.

"Okay, you mini Mario!" Bowser said with anger. "Time to deal with you next!"

"No! Don't do it!" Mario yelled. He grabbed the yellow Magic Mushroom, stood in front of Alex, and threw the Magic Mushroom at Bowser. This time, it created a ball of electricity that shocked Bowser for a few seconds.

"Please… That's enough…" Bowser panted after recovering from the electric attack.

"Oh, so now you're wanting to give up, huh?" Mario asked.

"No… Just give me a second…"

"Here, Alex!" Mario gave Alex the red Magic Mushroom; Alex stared at it for a moment.

"What do I do with it?" Alex asked.

"Power yourself up! Do it before Bowser burns us!" Alex wasted no time and crushed the Magic Mushroom in his hand. He was encased in transparent red fire.

"I got the perfect attack!" Alex said before turning to the Mario Bros and Yoshi. "Brace yourselves!"

Alex crouched down and grabbed his legs with the intention of charging up a final move. Simultaneously, Bowser was ready to continue the battle.

"Why do always hide from me?!" Bowser asked with frustration. "You don't even have the brains to step up and fight me! Now stand up!"

But Alex didn't respond and started to turn orange-red.

"You asked for it!" Bowser pressed a button inside his Koopa Clown Car to charge up his Bullet Bill cannon. He then leaned his head back to unleash a powerful version of his fire breath. Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi braced themselves for Alex's attack.

In an instant, Alex stood up and threw his arms outward, creating a massive fireball bigger than Bowser; the fireball slammed into Bowser, throwing him out of his Koopa Clown Car into the darkness ahead. His Koopa Clown Car went limp and fell on the ground.

A shattering noise sounded from far away, indicating Bowser pummeled through a glass window.

"What on Earth…?" Mario asked silently. He saw Alex staring at the Koopa Clown Car and back at where Bower flew off.

Alex turned to the Mario Bros and Yoshi with a smile on his face. "I did it, guys."

"YAY!" "WAHOO!" "GREAT JOB, ALEX!" Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi suddenly cheered. They ran up to Alex and threw him in the air three times. Luigi's Hammer form wore off while cheering for Alex.

"Super Alex for the win!" Mario said after Alex was set on the floor again. He, along with Luigi and Yoshi, high-fived Alex.

"Did I just say, 'I did it.'?" Alex asked with confusion. "I wasn't thinking."

"It sounded like you meant what you said," Luigi answered.

"How did you let out that fireball, though?" Yoshi questioned.

"Red means fire," Alex replied. "And I fired Bowser away!"

The Mario Bros and Yoshi cheered for Alex yet again. After the celebration was done, Mario asked, "Where's Princess Peach?"

"Follow me." Alex ran toward where he thought Peach's box was hanging from.

"Princess Peach can't see or hear us," Alex said. "And there has to be a door to get her out."

"All right-y. Let me free her, guys. I'll be right back."

Mario ran up to the box and noticed a handle on the front. He jumped as high as he could and grabbed the handle with his left hand. He grabbed the top edge with his right hand and climbed up.

"How do I open the door?" Mario asked himself. Suddenly, he saw a black button next to the chain and pushed it. He heard explosive charges go off, blasting the door away.

"Mario!" Peach called out from inside the box. Mario quickly clambered inside the box and approached Peach.

"You okay?" Mario asked.

"Never better." Peach gave Mario a quick kiss on the lips and jumped into his arms.

"Guess who's waiting for you too," Mario said.

"Uh, Luigi and Yoshi?" Peach guessed.

"You'll see." Mario jumped out of the box and landed on the ground before setting Peach on her feet. She saw Alex, Luigi, and Yoshi standing in front.

"Princess Peach!" Alex exclaimed as he ran up to Peach.

"Hi, darling!" Peach squealed. She gave Alex a big hug and kissed him on the cheek. Alex chuckled as Peach kissed him.

"Oh, mamma mia. That's so lovely," Mario said while holding his hands together.

After Peach let go of Alex, she walked up to Luigi and Yoshi.

"You guys did awesome too!" Peach said, high-fiving Luigi and Yoshi.

"Thanks, Princess Peach." "Any time," Luigi and Yoshi said respectively. For a few seconds, nobody knew what to do after Peach thanked everyone.

"So, what do we do now?" Peach asked. Before Mario could answer, he saw a lime green Warp Pipe out the corner of his eye.

"This should take us back home," Mario said. He led Luigi, Alex, Peach, and Yoshi to the Warp Pipe. Just before going inside the Warp Pipe, he spotted a book that had the words "Book of Spells" on the cover.

"Oh! I forgot we have to give this back to Cybele the Sorceress!"

Mario picked up the Book of Spells and went inside the Warp Pipe, hoping to reappear next to Cybele's log cabin. Luigi, Yoshi, Alex, and Peach followed suit.
