Misfit Chapter 32: "A Piece Of Cake"

Whoo! We're at the ending! Woah! I'm so excited to write this! Let's hope I don't screw it up. XD

To Super Saiyan 3 Odd, this is where the second half of your suggestion comes into play. ;)

Louie sat in his room, arms crossed and pouting. He was sitting at the green, bottom bunk-bed, which of course, was his bunk. The 11 year-old frowned when he heard a knock on the door.

What was it now?

'You shouldn't have taken Della so seriously!'

'You should have just pretended that everything was pitch-perfect and just went along with her!'

'What a horrible, terrible son you are for trying to work with Flintheart Glomgold! OH SHAME.'

Louie went over the possible, stereotypical phrases in his head.

"Hey Louie? It's me, Della." Della peeked her head from behind the door.

"What do you want?" Louie asked coldly, "To lecture me?"

"What? No! I told you- just give me a chance!"

Louie snapped, "Get out of my room! I don't want you here!" He pulled his hood over his head, "Let me wallow in peace."

Della sighed and closed the door. She was standing in the hallway of McDuck manor. The duck rubbed her arm.

Donald narrowed his eyes at her, coming out of a room on the right side of the hall, "You're coming with me." He led her to a room with a light red décor theme, much like the rest of McDuck manor. A cream-colored chair with an ottoman rested on a dark red rug on the floor. A fancy chandelier hung from the ceiling.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO LOUIE?!" Donald burst out.

"Woah, look." Della took a step back, but it didn't do any good because Donald took the opportunity of her being so close to the wall and pinned her down, "Look at what?! That you made him feel worthless and terrible and a loser!" He hit her, growling. Della pushed her brother off of her.

"I'm sorry, I just thought I was disciplining him! I didn't know! Beakley-"

"I don't care about Beakley, this is about YOU!"

Della rubbed her temple, "And I know it's about me! But I want to know about Louie…tell me about him…I want to know more about my son."

Donald explained, "He's the one always coming up with plans, and schemes, and even though I know you hate it, and it gets him into a lot of trouble, they aren't all that bad. It's what he's good at. And you didn't acknowledge it."

"I'm sorry, I really am!"

"You should tell that to Louie, not me."

Della ground her teeth, "I try to, but he won't listen."

They were both silent for a second.

And then…

Donald told her, "Then you've got to make him listen, Della. Figure out a way. You got back from the moon." He smiled sadly at her, "This should be a piece of cake."

"Right…" Della laughed nervously, walking out into the corridor again.

"Okay, Della. Not a piece of cake. But you can do this!" Another awkward laugh, "Yeah."

"Della? Were you talking to yourself?"

Della yelped, "Ah!"

"Relax, it's just me." June said.

"Oh. Hey June, everything alright?"

June raised an eyebrow, "I could ask the same thing about you."

Della looked down, "Ugh, Louie hates me."

June rocked on her feet, "Well, I can't exactly blame him."

Della deadpanned, "Not helping."

"Buuuuuut if ya want, I could try and talk to him and ease up the tension." The duckling in the yellow hoodie smirked.

"Really?! You'd do that?"

June smiled, "Sure!"

- Louie's Room-

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Looooouuuuuuiiiiiieeeee! Guess who's where?"

Louie's dull mood brightened up almost instantly, smiling. He rolled his eyes, "Gee, it's SO hard. Let me think…an annoying little duck called: JUNE."

June bounced into the room, "Yerp!"

He leaned back, scooting over to make room for her on his bed.

"So about Della…" June began, her excitement going away. She shifted her weight on the bed.

"What about her?" Louie's smiled turned into a scowl.

"I don't think she really knew how much she hurt you when she said all those things about you."

Louie snorted, pulling up his sleeve, "No kidding." He traced a finger over the longest scar. June hugged him, but provided little comfort because Louie shook her off, "She thinks she can just waltz into my life after a decade of being gone, and everything is fine."

"Louie…"

Louie snapped, pulling away from his friend, "Don't 'Louie' me! Do you know how hurtful it is when you work your butt of trying to save your family from a tiny demonic nomad civilization or killer robot, and then somehow, despite all the odds, it all blows up in your face?!"

June bit her beak to beak to keep from grinning and fiddled with her thumbs, "You mean the nomad civilization or the robot? 'Cause blowing up a robot sounds pretty c-"

"I meant that in a metaphorical sense, June! What I mean is, it's just never enough for Della! I try so hard to impress her, but she just won't see!"

"Maybe you can talk things out with her." June suggested.

"I know what's going to happen. She's going to apologize and say she's sorry, but then she'll get mad again when I make a mistake and it's Timephoon all over again!"

"Louie, she just came back from the moon! She has no idea what she's doing! She just wants the best for you. Give her another chance! I KNOW she'll be better this time!" June pleaded.

Louie whimpered, "But what if-"

"Worrying is for Donald. Are you an Uncle Donald?" June smirked.

Louie sniffed, pretending to be offended. June laughed and lightly punched his arm.

Della opened the door a crack, realizing that she should have thought this over and it was probably very awkward, "H-hi…"

"Mom? How long were you standing there?!" Louie asked.

"Long enough to know that I'm an idiot that has no idea what she's doing when it comes to parenting…"

June winced, "Sorry."

"No, it's okay. Really. I deserve it." She crouched down on the floor and caressed Louie's face, "Louie, I need for you to hear me out: June's right. I really had no idea what I was doing. I was selfish and careless, and I wasn't thinking. You do fit into this family, Louie: By standing out. What kind of world would we be living in if everyone was the same?"

Louie smiled slightly, "A pretty boring one." He laughed.

Della smile widened, and she felt happier than she had in a long time.

THE END.

Yeesh. Hopefully that ending wasn't too sappy…anyways, thanks to anyone and everyone who reviewed, followed, favorited, or just took the time to read my story! It means a lot to me! :D

Until next time,
