Robby pov

The next day, Finn, Raven, Clarke, and a few others go with Bellamy to salvage the wreckage. Clarke replaces my bandages before they leave and I walk around camp. I skipped training today because I doubt Lincoln is at the cave and I'm sure he'd understand if I took a day off. I spend a lot of the day hanging out with Monty whenever he's not with Jasper. I have my shift of watch in the early afternoon. Jasper sends hateful glances my way and I just smirk smugly at him. I'm this close to asking him if he's got something to say, but Clarke would kick my ass if I got into a fight that made my stitches rip.

"Anything?" I ask for the hundredth time.

Monty lowers the binoculars with a sigh.

"Nope nothing and there will be nothing the next ten times you ask," he says rolling his eyes.

"Jesus who knew it'd be so boring around here," i say and throw a pebble at a tree.

I see a white flower on the tree and remember that Lincoln would put those when he had a message to give Octavia or me.

"Hold on man I'll be right back," I say and turn around to fetch Octavia.

However, she walks up instead.

"Hey no sign of your brother or the others," Monty says.

"Hey. I don't care," Octavia says still pissed about yesterday.

"Not gonna lie, I kinda miss Bellamy yelling like a fool about doing whatever the hell we want," I say.

"I sure as hell don't," Monty says.

"Me neither," Octavia says.

"It was pretty entertaining to watch him make an ass of himself tho," I say chuckling.

"Octavia look," I whisper and point to the rose in the trees.

"Lincoln," she whispers.

"Guess he made it back unharmed yesterday," I say.

"Jasper tell us again. How'd you stay so calm? I would've been terrified," Harper McIyntire asks.

Monty, Octavia, and I turn our heads to listen to the conversation.

"Fear is only a problem if you let it stop you, right?" Jasper says in a cocky voice.

Did he just quote Finn?

"That's not even his line. Finn said that," Octavia says annoyed.

"Jesus can he at least come up with his own motto?" I say equally as annoyed.

"I saw the grounders in the trees. It's like nothing I ever felt. Pure animal instinct took over. One pull of the trigger, two grounders dead," he says acting like it was nothing.

"Pure animal instinct?" Octavia says mockingly.

"More like pants wetting panic," She says rolling her eyes.

I laugh really hard at that.

"I seem to remember him shooting like a madman just to hit one out of the two grounders. It certainly wasn't one pull of the trigger," I say mockingly making quotes with my fingers.

Even Monty cracks a smile.

"You don't really know what you made of until a moment like that ya know, when it's kill or be killed and there's nothing between you and the tip of the spear," Jasper says.

"Ok. This has to stop," Octavia whispers and starts to get up.

"Come on, let us have this," Monty whispers.

"Us?" Octavia and I say in unison.

"Look at him. The boy is a folk hero. They even gave us a bigger tent," Monty says.

"Nice, but he really needs to chill," I say.

Monty just shrugs.

"We don't need to do anything. If the time comes, he'll either put on his big boy pants and actually do something heroic or itl blow up in his face," I say and we come to a consensus.

We hear commotion from outside camp.

"Grounders," I say and unsheathe my sword.

"Cool sword," Monty nods at me.

"Thanks man. Not all grounders are terrible ya know," I say.

"Somebody at the trip wire!" Connor shouts.

"Which wire was it?" One girl shouts

"Was it a grounder?" Another one asks

"I don't see anything," a boy shouts.

I run over to Derek and Connor who have their guns aimed.

"I got nothin. Connor?" Derek says

"Nothing," Connor answers.

I see a silhouette move through the trees.

"There there there!" Someone shouts

Derek shoots at the figure.

"I think I got him," Derek says happily.

"Let's go," Connor says.

My blood runs cold as to who that might be. I hope to God they didn't just shoot Lincoln.

"Robby, it might be Lincoln," Octavia says worriedly.

"No I don't think it is," I say simply hoping it wasn't.

"Lincoln's not stupid enough to run through our tripwire," I follow up trying to reassure myself.

We run out into the woods and we see a bloody figure twitching on the ground. He looks very familiar. I point my sword at it and I get a glimpse of who it is when he springs to life and holds up his hands in surrender. He sees us and scoots away as fast as he can with breaths of terror.

I see none other than John Murphy covered from head to toe in his own blood. He looks like he's been through hell, but he's miraculously very much alive.

"Oh my God," Connor says.

"Murphy?" Octavia asks in shock.

Murphy trembles on the ground as he holds up a shaking arm in surrender toward us.

"Relax Murphy we're not gonna hurt you," I say gently and reach down to help him up.

He kicks my arm out of the way and drags his body further away.

"Help me take him back to camp," I order Connor and Derek.

"Are you crazy. Bellamy said—" Connor says.

"I don't give a shit what Bellamy said! Help me or I'll do it my damn self!" I yell back.

"Alright chill out man," Connor says.

Connor and I carry him into the dropship and sit him down.

"What the hell happened to you?" I ask looking over his bloody body.

"I was tortured by g-grounders," he whimpers.

"He's lying!" Connor says pointing his gun at Murphy.

"Are you shitting me? Look at him. Connor I know he pissed on you, but quit being such a pussy about it," I say.

"Screw you Kane!" He yells.

"Screw you!" I yell back.

"Stop!" Octavia yells.

"He stays here until the others get back and Clarke helps him get better. Got it?!" I yell.

Everyone nods.

"T-thank you," Murphy says his voice shaking.

I don't respond. Just then Bellamy storms in.

"Where is he?" Bellamy says looking around.

"He says he was with the grounders," Derek informs Bellamy.

"We caught him trying to sneak back into camp," Connor says.

"I wasn't sneaking. I was running from the grounders," Murphy says with a shaky voice.

"Anyone see grounders?" Bellamy asks accusingly.

We all shake our heads.

"Well in that case—" Bellamy says aiming his gun at Murphy.

My eyes widen and I move to stop him, but Finn beats me to it.

"Hey what the hell's wrong with you?!" Finn yells as he lowers Bellamy's.

"We were clear what would happen if he came back!" Bellamy yells aiming his gun at Murphy again.

"No. If he was with the grounders then he knows things that can help us!" Finn says jumping between the gun and Murphy.

"Help us?! We hanged him. We banished him. And now we're gonna kill him," Bellamy yells at Finn.

"Correction, you hanged him! I was the one who ripped the axe from your belt to cut him down! And this piece of shit tried to strangle me for it!" I yell to Bellamy while pointing at Connor.

Connor just glares at me.

"Get the hell out of my way. Now!" Bellamy says and raises the gun to my face.

"Jam that in my face again," I challenge looking Bellamy in the eye.

He scoffs and points the gun right between my eyes. I use what Lincoln taught me. I twist his arm, spin around, elbow him in the back, and throw him over my shoulder by the elbow. He lands with a thud and a grunt. He starts scrambling to get up, but freezes when I point the gun right between his eyes. He looks at me with burning hatred. I toss the gun away and move to help him up and he snacks my hand away.

"Bellamy they're right," Clarke says.

"Like hell they are. Think about Charlotte!" Bellamy retorts.

"And how she killed Wells," I reply.

"Robby I swear—" Bellamy says shaking his head slowly.

"No Bellamy, what happened to Charlotte is as much our fault as his," Clarke says and begins cleaning Murphy's wounds.

She looks at his bloody hands and I wince as I see the missing fingernails.

"He's not lying. His fingernails were torn off. They tortured him," Clarke says examining Murphy's hands.

"You and the grounders should compare notes," Finn says smugly to Bellamy.

"Finn your not helping," I say giving him an annoyed look.

"The grounders know we're at war. What did you tell them about us?!" Bellamy asks Murphy.

"Everything," Murphy weakly confirms.

Clarke gets up and walks over to Bellamy.

"Once he's better, we find out what he knows and then he's outta here. Ok?" Clarke says to Bellamy.

"What if he refuses to leave? What do we do with him then?" Bellamy asks her.

"Then we kill him," Clarke says with hesitation.

I give Murphy one last glance then follow Bellamy and Clarke out of the tent. Bellamy turns and looks at me angrily.

"I'm sorry," I say with little to no meaning.

"If you pull that again—" he begins to threaten.

"Bellamy enough threats. I know you care about more than your damn bravado," I say condescendingly.

"What that move something they taught you at grounder school?" He asks me mockingly.

"Yes actually, grounder school taught me quite a bit," I say smugly.

"Funny considering they were gonna kill us at the bridge. You brought Octavia to train with that grounder. You put her in danger Robby. Did you ever stop to think about that?" Bellamy asks with betrayal written on his face.

"Bellamy, Lincoln isn't the enemy. What happened out there is proof that he wants to help us," I argue.

"Why did you defend Murphy? You know what he's done," Bellamy asks.

"We all have things to answer for Bellamy. You, me, him," I say pointing at the dropship.

"If he doesn't leave, I'm killing him and if you have a problem with that, then you can leave with him," Bellamy threatens.

"I don't have a problem with it. I'm not defending Murphy. I don't like him, but not treating him in the state that he's in is just cruel and insane. It's something the grounders would do and we're not grounders," I say and walk away.

I decide to head to Monty and Jasper's tent and I hear Jasper and Harper talking.

"You think maybe I could come by and you could tell me about the bridge again?" Harper says clearly hinting at something.

Good for Jasper. Harper is great. Really nice, hot, and a good kisser. I feel guilty for ease-dropping on their conversation, but I can't help it.

"Uh actually I'm busy later," Jasper says.

I furrow my brow in confusion. What the hell was he thinking. If Octavia didn't exist, I'd love to be with Harper.

"Oh okay. Some other time then. See ya," Harper says clearly a little hurt.

I see her walk out of the tent.

"Hey Harper," I say in a friendly tone.

"Hey," she says quietly and walks away not even looking at me.

I can tell she doesn't like me after what went down on the ark a while ago. I hate how much of a dick I used to be.

I hear Jasper and Monty talking.

"Are you kidding me? That was there for the taking," Monty says.

"Harper?" Jasper says with contempt.

"She's low hanging fruit," he says cockily.

At this point I'm about to storm in there and kick Jasper's ass.

"Don't tell me your still holding out for Octavia," Monty says annoyed.

"I got to go," Jasper says quickly.

"Jasper, Octavia is not gonna happen. She and Robby are serious. Did you not notice them disappear for two days or hear them during Unity Day?" Monty says.

I instantly flush with embarrassment. (Shit they fucking heard us didn't they. Well that's awkward). My hands go straight to my head in shock and I stand there for a second with my mouth agape.

"Go float yourself Monty. Robby is nothing more than a piece of shit and a bully. Octavia deserves so much better than that asshole," Jasper says with hatred in his voice.

My body instantly burns red hot with rage. How fucking dare he. My fingernails dig into my palms as I fight the temptation to go in there and beat the shit out of Jasper. ("She deserves better?" Who exactly, you?) Octavia can make her own decisions. Jasper was my friend at one point and he's clearly just jealous so I fight the demon clawing it's way out.

"He's my friend actually and he cares a lot about us," Monty says smugly.

"He's lucky I didn't kick his ass when he blamed me for the bridge," Jasper seethes with rage.

I laugh internally at that. His scrawny ass wouldn't last a second with me even before I trained with Lincoln. I'm still hurt though because I used to think of him as a close friend.

"Dude no offense, but you wouldn't last two seconds against Robby. You saw how he handled Bellamy that time with Murphy," Monty says.

"Yeah and Bellamy curbed stomped him into the mud," he retorts.

"He got a few hits in. More than nearly anyone here could do against Bellamy," Monty says.

I swell in pride regarding Monty thinking so highly of me. He's a true friend and I'm glad he's sticking up for me.

"I'm just telling you the truth," Monty says calmly.

"No. Your telling me your truth. I'm not like you anymore," Jasper says condescendingly.

"What the hell does that mean?" Monty asks clearly confused.

(No Jasper your not like him. He's a better man then you ever could be) I think with spite.

"It means your jealous. People think I'm cool and that upsets you," Jasper says even more condescendingly.

"No, I think your cool. Only no one had to die for me to see it," Monty says smugly.

Sick burn.

"You know what? This is my tent, ok? Bellamy gave it to me and if you have a problem with that, maybe you should find somewhere else to sleep," Jasper says now angry.

"Maybe I should," Monty says daring.

"Do it," Jasper challenges.

"I will," Monty says with animosity.

I can't take it anymore. I walk into their tent and act innocent.

"Oh, hey. Jasper your on watch," I say.

"I don't take orders from you," Jasper spits and shoves me out of the way and walks out of the tent.

"Wanna try that again?" I challenge, anger taking over.

I'm so sick of his bullshit I can't help but egg him on.

"Try it again?" He challenges.

I can see him reeling back a punch from a mile away. He charges at me and I side step him and stick my foot out. He trips and falls.

"The hell's your problem?" I ask.

"Your my problem," he says and reels back for another punch.

I let him land it just to boost his confidence. The punch doesn't make me stumble at all. I rub my cheek where he punched me. I know it won't bruise, but the confidence boost will cause him to let down his guard incase he tries to start a real fight.

"Woah slow down. You don't wanna do this," I warn actually hoping to avoid a fight.

"You've had it coming asshole!" He yells and shoves me.

I have a look of surprise and shock and the crowd around us is murmuring. I sigh, swing my arm effortlessly, and viciously punch him in the jaw. He goes down in a heap and touches his now bloody lip in pure shock.

"Stay down man, I don't wanna fight you!" I yell so everyone can hear and hold up my hands.

At this point I want to fight him, but I want the crowd to think I don't.

He charges at me and wraps his arms around me and drives me until we hit a tree. I throw him to the ground easily and try to walk away. Next thing I know he jumps on my back with a scream of anger. I throw him over my shoulder and he kicks me in the chest. I scream as he gets me right where the arrow hit. The pain makes me see red as I attack this time. He gets up, but I pile drive him into the ground and hold him down with my left arm and continuously whale on his face with my right. Punch, after punch, after punch, hits Jasper who's face is now covered in blood. I keep punching until someone aggressively pulls me off.

"Stop! get the hell off him," someone hisses through gritted teeth.

I feel arms pulling me aggressively off of Jasper.

"Alright. ALRIGHT!" I say wrenching free of the person's grip and holding my hands up

I turn around abruptly to see Bellamy pulling me away. Octavia, Harper, and Miller. Are checking on a bloody Jasper.

"What the hell did you do?" Bellamy asks getting in my face.

"He started it!" I yell.

"Robby, what the hell?!" Octavia screams at me.

"Robby, your such an asshole!" Harper screams at me.

I stutter, but can't say anything.

"And what the hell did I say about fighting each other?!" He responds.

"I tried to walk away!" I argue.

"Certainly didn't look like that when I saw you pummeling him to the ground!" Bellamy says.

"I was finishing the fight I wasn't gonna stand there and let him—" I begin to yell.

"No! That's it, your banished from camp!" Bellamy says grabbing my shoulders.

"What?!" I yell in awe of how irrational Bellamy is acting.

"All you have done is cause problems since we've landed! Your done!" He yells and points to the gate.

"Wait Bellamy! He's telling the truth," Miller says.

Bellamy looks at Miller with disbelief.

"He tried to walk away twice and Jasper didn't listen," Miller follows up.

"Miller, don't lie for him," Bellamy says.

Bellamy shoves me towards the gate.

Is he serious right now?

"Bellamy it's true. As Jasper's friend you can take it from me that Robby's telling the truth," Monty says with 100% sincerity.

"Jasper what happened?" Bellamy says.

Jasper looks at Bellamy clearly disoriented.

"Who started the fight?" Bellamy follows up.

"I did," he whispers weakly.

Bellamy looks down sadly and asks "Why?"

"He tried to give me orders and I got mad," Jasper says.

"I wasn't giving you orders!" I snap.

"Robby, shut up!" Bellamy snaps.

"What did he say to you exactly?" Bellamy asks Jasper.

"He told me to get out of my tent and to go to my shift," Jasper says.

"Not like that!" I say.

"Robby, for the last time, your not in charge here!" Bellamy shouts at me.

"Dammit Bellamy! I wasn't giving him orders. All I said was Jasper your on watch. That's it!" I yell flustered.

"Yeah? And then what?!" Bellamy asks accusingly.

"Then he got all pissy and accused me of giving him orders. Then he tried to fight me and I defended myself LIKE I SHOULD!" I yell at Bellamy.

"Is this true?!" He asks the crowd.

"Yeah that's what I saw," someone murmurs.

"Yeah Robby tried to walk away," someone else says.

"He pummeled Jasper after he jumped on him," some guy says.

Bellamy sighs clearly extremely annoyed.

"Get him to the dropship," Bellamy orders in annoyance to the crowd.

Harper and another guy help Jasper get to the dropship.

"I'm sorry," Bellamy says placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Look... I know you're in charge here and I wasn't disrespecting that. I also know that we agree on practically nothing and that you hate me, but at least try to be fair in your justice system. okay?" I say sounding hurt because I am.

"I don't hate you Robby," Bellamy says looking at me annoyed.

"Really?" I ask sarcastically.

"Yeah I don't hate you. We have our differences, but I respect you. More than you know," he says with a kind expression.

"The reason I left camp to train with that grounder was because I wanted to help defend the camp. I wasn't trying it take over or anything. I just wanted us to have a fighting chance to survive. I got my ass kicked up and down these woods daily to protect all of us," I say my eyes watering.

I don't know why I'm feeling sad. Maybe it's the look of horror and disgust Octavia gave me when she saw Jasper or the fact that everyone assumes I'm the bad guy. I guess I shouldn't blame them because of how I treated a lot of them in the past. Maybe it's because a person who used to be a close friend hated me enough and wanted to prove himself to others by fighting me. Nothing makes sense anymore.

I must be kind of obvious because Bellamy wraps his arm around my shoulder and says "come on. Let's go for a walk,"
