Chapter twenty two:

Light is watching out the front window with the food on the top of the stove. He is watching for any sign of Sayu. He is itching to go out to look for her however he knows that he should stay put just in case she does come home. "Please." He pleads crossing his arms on the window sill and laying his head on his arms. "Please come home my dear little sister Sayu." He pleads softly to the world hoping that whatever higher being is listening that they'll get Sayu home safe and sound. And hopefully unharmed.

In the meantime L pulls up the location of where Sayu's cellphone last pinged as he and Watari are hurrying towards that spot. He is sitting in the back of the car to keep working on some things as they go. He really hopes that they will be able to get there and find that she is okay. He doesn't call off the people searching around since he knows that there is a chance that she dropped her cell. He is well aware that something could have happened to make her flee without her cellphone with her. He wants to keep the search going just in case that is what has happened. He bites his thumbs nail hard. He so badly wants to find her safe and unharmed. He glances up only to look out the window as they drive along. He can only hope that something bad has not occurred to the sweet innocent girl.

"We're arriving." Watari informs L as he pulls into a spot to park.

L gets out along with Watari and the two look around to see if they can see Sayu.

L feels a pang of worry at not seeing any sign of her right away. He starts to move around a little looking around as well as watching the ground. He doesn't want to possibly miss her cell phone on the ground. He turns slightly upon hearing a cellphone ring with a happy tune. He follows the noise until he finds himself standing in front of a cellphone that is on the sidewalk. He glances around though only notices some tire tracks on the road. He cannot confirm it had anything to do with this though. He keeps that part in mind, just in case he will need to investigate into them to just be certain that they aren't important, though as he turns back to the cellphone. He crouches and picks it up with two fingers to examine it. He knows that the only way he can confirm that is Sayus phone is by checking the insides. He checks the messages and missed calls displayed on the screen as notifications. His teeth clench harder as he sees the name on the missed calls and texts.

Light.

There is no doubt about it. This right here is Sayu's cellphone. Now the one question still remains of where is Sayu?

L has a bad feeling though if they are only finding her cellphone with no sign of her around. He puts it in his pocket, he'll message Light that he has it after checking out the area. He is looking out for any possible spots that could show the signs of trouble that may give an explanation for why her cellphone has been left behind. He frowns at not seeing much. He doesn't see any signs of any recent fires, explosions, or even any shootouts. He doesn't even see any blood around this area which brings his mind back to the tire tracks. He turns back around and heads over to them only to crouch to look at them a little more closely. He tries to go through his mind trying to put together what cars might have those kind of tire tracks. He looks up hearing someone approaching only to see a concerned Watari. "Did you find anything?"

"Nothing." Watari informs the raven haired male with a hefty and deep sigh. "I even asked around and no one remembered any attacks or anything in the area today. It seems like today was pretty peaceful in this area of the city." He looks to the tire tracks that L had been looking at. "Did you find anything out?"

"I found her cellphone on the ground." L admits as he also looks back to the tire tracks. "Not far from these tire tracks. And I really wish I didn't have to say these words… However it looks like we might have to close this area off for the possibility of a kidnapping."

Watari's breath skips a beat for a moment upon hearing those words come out of L's mouth. He nods and pulls out his own cell phone. "I'll make sure that it gets done. Should we call off the searching for her?"

"No. I want to keep that going. There needs to be some hope that she will be found outside of here. There is a small chance that we will find where she was taken to or held. Even a chance that someone saw her in a car with some people or something. If we can get that information from the searching then we can move into action sooner rather than later. I will let Light know about our findings." L stands up pulling out his own cellphone as well. He dials Light's number while Watari moves away to make the call to seal the area off for investigation.

Light nearly jumps ten feet into the air when his cellphone suddenly goes off. He hurriedly grabs it where it sits on the side table. He sees that the one that is calling him happens to be L. His hopes soar at seeing that on his cellphone's screen. He is quick to answer the call. "L! Did you find her? Is she alright? Where was she? Why didn't she answer her phone?"

"Light slow down." L tells Light interrupting his rambling questions. He almost wants to sigh as the brunette quiets down. He really wishes that he didn't have to tell his boyfriend this bad news. He especially feels bad as Light was so excited at the very thought that his raven haired boyfriend found his little sister. "Light, we found her cellphone. But we didn't find her. We still have the search going and we are going to investigate the area we found her phone in."

For a moment there is a long pause then Light's stammering voice with horrified shock speaks up.

"W-W-What?"
