Chapter 28: The Black Vipers
At the Xiaolin Temple...
It was the middle of the night.
Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, Clay and Alice were put to the test as Master Fung blindfolds and tells them the lesson for today.
"What do you reckon we're learning?"Clay asked.
"Surely a lesson in humility...for Raimundo!"Omi responded.
Raimundo was walking around and ended up hitting himself on a tree.
The Dragon of Wind was about to fell into the fountain, but Master Fung caught him in time.
"To be a team, each must learn to trust the others fully."Master Fung explained.
"And the blindfolds?"Kimiko asked.
"Sometimes what you think you see are merely a distraction."Master Fung replied and held out a lit torch. "Using all instincts, pass this lit torch and trust your teammates won't allow you to be burned."
"And they say playing with fire is dangerous."Alice murmered.
Master Fung handed the lit torch to Raimundo.
Raimundo walked on to a small rock causing him to do a jump while spinning and landing down.
Alice takes the torch from Raimundo's hand and began to a few acrobatic moves while carefully holding the lit torch so that she doesn't drop it.
The Dragon of Ice landed down and throws the torch towards Omi.
Omi took the torch and jumped on a tree before going off of it.
Kimiko jumped into the air and grabbed the lit torch as Omi passed her.
The Dragon of Fire started falling down causing the flame on the torch to become big a little as she headed towards Clay.
Clay calmly stood where he was before grabbing the lit torch and Kimiko at the last minute.
The Dragon of Earth smelt a delicious warm smell in the air causing him to grin.
"Teriyaki pork?"Clay said and dropped Kimiko to head to a table where a roasted pork plate was. "Delicious!"
Clay swooped past Raimundo, Omi and Alice in quick speed.
Raimundo notice his sleeve was on fire causing him to scream in terror.
The Dragon of Wind went to the fountain and placed his arm into it to wash out the flame.
"I'm sorry, Rai."Clay apologised and placed another piece of meat into his mouth. "But I smelt my favourite meal."
"Every meal is your favourite Clay!"Kimiko reminded.
"And there is never a time you don't think about your stomach."Alice added in disproval.
Raimundo freaked out seeing Clay holding the lit torch and Master Fung grabbed him from falling into the fountain again.
"I can't believe your first loyalty is to a pork chop!"Raimundo complained.
Dojo tapped Raimundo's leg causing the Dragon of Wind to scream for the third time and land on Alice's arms.
"Hey, kids!"Dojo greeted as he slithered forward. "We got a 3 alarm Shen Gong Wu-"
Dojo paused when he sniffed the air as Alice simply threw Raimundo into the fountain.
"Mmm...pork chops."Dojo mumbled with a smile.
"Dojo, where exactly is the new Wu?"Kimiko questioned.
The search for the new Shen Gong Wu lead the five monks to Clay's home state of Texas.
Kimiko wore a different cowgirl outfit while Alice wore the same clothing she wore when they first went to Texas in order to get the Star Hanabi from Daddy Bailey.
Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, Clay and Alice got off of Dojo's back.
"I can't believe we're back home in Texas."Clay remarked.
Alice notice two vultures fighting over a bone causing her to shiver uncomfortably.
"She is a big, flat, desert prairie."Kimiko commented with a frown.
Clay hugs a cactus.
"Yeah? But the cactus all look like kin to me."Clay stated.
Clay notices motorcycle's approaching where he and his friends were.
"Dojo!"Clay spoke up. "Better stash the Wu! We got company!"
"Motorcycles?"Alice asked.
"Not just motorcycles, the Black Vipers."Clay stated bitterly.
The three motorcyclists rode around the five monks.
"Greetings, my friends!"Omi greeted happily. "My name is-"
Omi got buried in sand by one of the motorcyclist's bike.
"Hey! Hey! Watch it!"Dojo panicked. "I have a bruise!"
"Glove of-"Raimundo started.
"Golden-"Omi started.
"Komori-"Alice started.
The Black Vipers capture Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko and Alice with their ropes.
"Clay! Look out!"Kimiko warned.
Clay's hands got caught by the ropes of two motorcyclists.
The Dragon of Earth pulled against both the ropes, sending the motorcyclists flying into each other.
"Nice move cowboy."the first motorcyclist admitted as she began to twirl her rope. "But too little, too late."
The first motorcyclist took away Clay's hat with her rope.
"Ow!"Clay groaned. "My hat!"
A rope tied around Clay and he dropped on the ground.
"We're the Black Vipers and you've just been snaked."the first motorcyclist stated.
The Black Vipers capture the Xiaolin Warriors and lead them underground while blindfolded on a mine cart.
"I am so over the whole blindfold thing."Kimiko commented.
The mine cart suddenly stopped causing Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, Alice and Clay to hit the floor.
"Well, well, what do we have here?"Jesse questioned.
Jesse removed the blindfolds that covered the monks eyes.
Raimundo, Alice, Omi and Kimiko see the Black Vipers were a group of girls as the leader removed Clay's blindfold.
"Leaping lizards!"Jesse responded. "Clay?"
"Umm...do I know you?"Clay asked.
"Awww now I'm hurt, don't you recognise your own sister?"Jesse asked as she held up a lantern.
"Sister?!"Raimundo, Alice, Omi and Kimiko said in unison.
Clay gasped in shock. "Jesse?!"
"You never told us you had a sister!"Omi said.
"Would you want people knowing you were related to a no good varmint?"Clay asked.
"You think I'm a varmint?"Jesse questioned with a frown.
"Well I think you sooner tip a cow than milk it!"Clay snapped.
Jesse glared at her brother and let out a scoff.
"You never understood what it was like growing up in the shadow of such a perfect older sibling!"Jesse scowled.
"Not this old saw again."Clay muttered.
"You were the best at everything!"Jesse retorted. "Chopping wood, shoeing horses, chasing pigs! Ma and Pa thought you were the pick of the litter!"
Alice bit her lip a little as Kimiko looked at Clay.
"You chased pigs?"Kimiko asked.
"And whatever I wanted...you got!"Jesse retorted and pointed at Clay.
"Well you know I only got things first cause I was the oldest!"Clay reminded.
"And then when it came to going to Monk school, guess who they picked?"Jesse questioned.
"Who?"Omi asked.
"The big hero, it was like I didn't even exist!"Jesse responded and glared at Clay. "No matter how much I tried I could never beat him!"
"So instead of trying to be the best of the best, you joined the Vipers ta be the best of the worst!"Clay scowled.
"I'm the best, period!"Jesse responded. "Hey, I say we settle this right now like men! You and me!"
Jesse began doing fighting movements around Clay.
"Hey! I've done some things I'm not proud of!"Clay admitted. "But I'm not getting into a fist fight with my baby sister!"
"Your just yellow cause you know I'll whoop your butt!"Jesse insulted.
Jesse kicked Clay which send the Dragon of Earth to land where his friends were.
Omi used his hands to crawl where Jesse stood.
"Oh...brother and sister should not be fighting."Omi reminded. "Is there no warmth in your heart-"
Jesse grabbed Omi by the head.
"Butt out, round boy!"Jesse shouted.
Jesse throws Omi and the small boy ended up hitting the mining cart.
Then the Black Vipers placed the five monks behind bars while dangling in the mines.
"So what do you wanna do with them?"the red haired viper girl asked smugly.
"Let's make a deal."Jesse insisted.
Jesse grabbed Clay by the face before letting him go which caused Clay's head to hit Kimiko, Raimundo, Alice and Omi like newton balls.
"If you scrape with me and win, you and your monkey friends are free ta go look for yer Shen Gong Worts."Jesse suggested.
"Wu!"Omi corrected.
"And if he loses?"Alice questioned bitterly.
Jesse walked up to a cloaked cage.
"Well then...you'll gonna be buzzard bait!"Jesse replied.
Jesse removed the cloak, showing two squawking vultures inside the cage.
Clay, Kimiko, Raimundo, Alice and Omi gasped in shock as the Black Vipers laughed evilly.
"What do you say, big brother?"Jesse asked. "We gonna throw down or what?"
"You keep asking me, I'm gonna keep saying the same thing!"Clay stated. "I'm not fighting you, it just ain't right!"
Jesse and the red haired viper girl smirked at each other.
"Well, it looks like our uninvited guests have decided an extended stay in the hospitality sweep."Jesse chuckled.
Then Jesse and the red haired viper girl walked away from the prison cage.
"Why, thank you!"Omi remarked. "That sounds most inviting! Where do we go?"
Alice groaned in annoyance.
"Omi, we are already in the hospitality sweep."Raimundo reminded.
"Oh, I see."Omi responded. "Perhaps I am misunderstanding the meaning of hospitality."
"Or the meaning of sarcasm."Kimiko admitted.
"More like a lot."Alice agreed.
"Darn this sarcasm!"Omi stated. "It always seems to grab my goat!"
"Come on, Clay!"Raimundo encouraged. "Just accept the challenge and beat the tar out of your sister so that we can get out of here!"
"Nope."Clay replied. "I'm sorry, but I can't hit a girl."
"But she doesn't even look like a girl."Raimundo commented. "She looks like you with lipstick."
"Besides I know a way out of here."Clay admitted. "We got a secret skeleton key."
Dojo revealed himself from inside Clay's hat.
"More like dragon key."Dojo said with a smile.
"Dojo!"Kimiko whispered.
"Where have you been?"Omi asked.
"Laying low until things started getting ugly."Dojo answered.
Dojo cuts Clay, Kimiko, Raimundo, Alice and Omi free.
"She and her gang sure know their way around the knot."Raimundo complemented.
"Yeah, it's good to be free."Clay agreed while rubbing his wrists.
"We need to leave before Jesse and the Black Vipers come back."Alice stated.
Kimiko walked up to the locket keyhole.
"One small problem; we can't."Kimiko admitted.
"Not to worry."Omi assured and took out the Changing Chopsticks. "I still have one Shen Gong Wu left with me. Changing Chopsticks!"
Omi used the Changing Chopsticks to become tiny as a grain of rice.
"A little help, please?"Omi asked.
Clay placed his hand down and bought Omi to the keyhole.
"You sure you know what your doing?"Raimundo questioned.
"I don't have the slightest idea, but that never stopped me before."Omi stated. "Tornado Strike, WATER!"
The Dragon of Water entered the keyhole and damaged it so that he and his friends can escape.
"Changing Chopsticks!"Omi chanted.
Omi changed back to his normal size and opened the door.
"Way da go, Omi."Raimundo chuckled. "Your first prison break."
Kimiko, Raimundo, Alice, Clay and Dojo high fived Omi as they went out of the cage.
"Xiaolin warriors prepare for anything."Omi replied proudly.
The five monks and Dojo carefully brought their heads out and saw the underground mine tunnel was empty.
"I see we have a clear coast."Omi commented.
"And too quiet if you ask me."Alice responded.
"Dojo, where is the rest of the Shen Gong Wu?"Raimundo asked.
"Don't worry."Dojo assured. "They're safe. They're-"
Dojo's head started shaking wildly.
"Shen Gong Wu!"Dojo rang out and rushed forward.
"That was what I was saying."Raimundo reminded. "Where you stash them?"
"Oh! Not those Wu, the Wu we came here to find."Dojo admitted and took out the Ancient Scroll. "The Sphere of Yun. It creates an invisible impenetrable prison around one's enemy. It is also good to travel in bad neighbourhoods."
"Speaking of bad neighbourhoods, maybe we should keep moving."Raimundo suggested.
Clay held a lantern as Dojo lead him and his friends into one of the tunnels.
"The Wu scent is strong."Dojo said as he sniffed the air. "All I know is right over here."
Suddenly the tunnel became pitch black and the group couldn't see anything.
Clay shun the lantern in the tunnel to bring some light, revealing Dojo has ended up hitting his face on the wall.
Then the wall began to crack and revealed the Sphere of Yun inside a room.
"The Shen Gong Wu is ours!"Omi remarked.
"Think again, short stack!"A voice rang out.
Suddenly the Black Vipers caught the five monks with their ropes while Dojo was placed inside a sack.
Jesse chuckled evilly as she came into the area.
"Well I'll be an day old biscuit!"Clay scoffed with a glare. "You let us lead you right to it!"
"Man, you ain't as slow as dripping tar after all!"Jesse argued. "But your still thicker than ah cut of Texas prime rib!"
"Well, at least I ain't as slippery as goat droll on an oil slick!"Clay snapped.
"Yeah and I'm not the one yeller than a slice of Auntie Clarabelle's lemon silk custard pie!"Jesse retorted.
"Will you two please stop abusing the English Language?!"Kimiko begged.
"But the pie does sound most delicious."Omi admitted with a smile.
Steam came out from Clay's ears as the Black Vipers held him.
"I've got a better idea."Jesse commented as she walked up to the Sphere of Yun. "See I know enough about these Shen Gong Warts."
"Wu!"Omi corrected again.
"That if we both grab this here deal...you've have to fight me, brother."Jesse stated.
Clay walked up to the Sphere of Yun, ready to grab it the same time as his younger sister.
"So Clay, your ready to be a man and lose to a girl?"Jesse challenged.
Suddenly the place started to shake a little and Jack appeared in his driller.
"Jack Spicer!"Omi said angrily.
"That's right!"Jack agreed with a evil smile. "Jack Spicer! Evil Boy Genius is in the house!"
Then the Jack-Bots flew into the area.
The Black Vipers began using their ropes to skilfully defeat the Jack-Bots.
"Silk Spitter!"Jack chanted.
Jack used the Silk Spitter to grab the Black Vipers ropes and the Golden Tiger Claws from Jesse's hand.
"Jack-Bots, attack!"Jack ordered.
Kimiko, Raimundo, Omi, Alice and Clay along with the Black Vipers got grabbed the Jack-Bots.
Jack grabbed the Sphere of Yun.
"Whoa!"Jack said happily. "That's it! I did it!"
"I can't believe it!"Wuya remarked. "For once you are actually the victor!"
"It's about time!"Jack stated. "I almost forgot what this feels like which by the way feels...sweet!"
Jack notice the Black Vipers.
"Say...who are all these people?"Jack asked.
"We're the Black Vipers."Jesse replied and walked next to her captured team. "The most elite all-girl gang that ever roamed these wild plains."
"And since you have defeated us, our law demands that you inherit leadership of, the Black Vipers."the red haired viper girl admitted.
Jesse and the Black Vipers knelt down causing Wuya and Jack to become pleased.
"Yes! I guess that makes me queen!"Jack cheered in triumph.
"Huh?!"Omi, Clay, Alice, Raimundo and Kimiko said in unison.
"I mean king."Jack corrected and smirked. "Anyway sweet!"
The Evil Boy Genius began to walk around a bit.
"So let's see if I got this straight."Jack said proudly and went next to Wuya. "Xiaolin Dragons, defeated. Shen Gong Wu, mine. Outlaw cowchicks, bonus. Between my Jack-Bots and the Black Vipers there's no way I can lose!"
"Yes, it would seem that way."Wuya commented and smirked. "But then again, if there is a way..."
"Yee-haw!"Jack cheered. "This calls for a hoe-down victory dance!"
Jack started doing a cowboy like victory dance with Jesse.
"Well, aren't you a pretty little thing."Jack flirted. "You got a name?"
"Is a cow-pin full I sod?"Jesse questioned.
"I like that."Jack responded with a smirk. "Though disrespectful, it smacks of a deep seeded inner-evil."
"Keep it up, slick and I'll be introducing your butt to my boot!"Jesse complemented.
"Yet another girl falls prey to the irresistible charms of Jack Spicer."Kimiko commented sarcastically.
"But he-"Omi started.
"Sarcasm."Raimundo responded.
"Oh..."Omi said.
"Ugh, this Spicer fella here is-"Jesse started.
"Pillowcase full of polecats?"Kimiko finished.
Kimiko, Alice and Jesse laughed lightly.
"Yeah and what's with his girly eye-liner?"Jesse asked.
"I know!"Alice chuckled. "It's so lame!"
The three girls continued laughing until Jack interrupted them.
"Hey!"Jack called out. "I'm still in the room over here!"
"Oh, why don't you take yer fancy hairdo and-"Jesse started.
"Jump into Old Man Hickory's lake!"Clay and Jesse said in unison.
Clay and Jesse smiled at each other.
"I can't believe it!"Clay remarked. "We actually do have something in common! We both can't stomach Spicer!"
"What am I invisible?"Jack asked.
Wuya went next to Jesse.
"Come join us, Jesse!"Wuya insisted. "And find out what real evil power is like!"
Jesse glanced at Clay and the monks.
"This would be a new low, even for you."Clay replied.
Jesse became angry and glanced at Wuya.
"Ma'am! You got yourself a deal!"Jesse commented. "Put it there!"
Jesse shook Wuya's ghostly hand as Jack laughed in victory.
"Excellent!"Wuya snickered.
"This is most discouraging."Omi said sadly.
Jack placed on the Golden Tiger Claws.
"I say we send these losers where they can't cause any trouble."Jack stated.
"Heh, heh."Wuya chuckled. "Like a few thousand feet bellow the Earth's crust?"
"No!"Jesse yelled out.
This caused Jack to become surprised.
"Loyalty issues?"Jack asked.
"No."Jesse answered and placed on the Golden Tiger Claws. "I just want the fun of burying the golden boy myself!"
Jesse slashed open a portal with the Golden Tiger Claws causing the Jack-Bots to send the Xiaolin Warriors deep under the earths crust.
"Bye bye, big bro!"Jesse said evilly.
A Thousand Feet Beneath the Earth's Crust...
Kimiko, Raimundo, Omi, Alice and Clay quietly sat down together.
Dojo came out from Clay's hat.
"Heh, cozy."Dojo said.
"This is my fault."Clay responded with a hint of guilt. "If I had just fought Jesse when I had the chance none of this would've happened."
"Hey, then we would miss our chance to suffocate in a hole together."Raimundo reminded.
"I will never again be so foolish as to believe her."Omi admitted firmly.
Alice looked at Clay.
"Clay, I get it. You love your sister even though she hates you."Alice responded. "To be honest when I was still in Rome, I never could stand being around my older brother because he was always the family favourite and did things better than me such as making the best tiramisu. But despite our sibling issues, we still care about each other."
Suddenly a portal opened up and Jesse appeared from it.
"Come on!"Jesse encouraged. "This here's a jail break!"
Omi became happy and stood up.
"I knew I could believe you!"Omi remarked. "You've come to the side of goodness!"
Omi hugged Jesse.
"Well, let's just say that I had to pretend to be with them so they'd trust me."Jesse explained with a smile.
"Sorry, but a raccoon don't change it's stripes just by crossing the dirt road."Clay retorted.
"Yeah, why are you helping us?"Kimiko questioned. "I thought you hated your brother."
"I do, but his still kind."Jesse complemented. "Besides that Jack Spicer creep gives me the prairie scaries."
"I hear that, girl."Kimiko agreed.
Alice smirked. "I knew you would come around."
"I don't know."Clay stated. "I have a bad feeling about this."
"Clay, she is telling the truth."Omi replied and smiled. "I am never wrong about these things."
"Fine."Clay sighed. "Let's just get the rest of our Wu and get out of here."
"If Wuya hasn't already found the stash-"Raimundo started.
"No chance!"Dojo assured proudly. "I hid them so good, I may not be able to find them!"
This caused Dojo to realise what he just said.
"That came out wrong."Dojo chuckled akwardly.
Jesse lead her brother and the monks back to the surface.
"Ow!"Dojo winced as he touched a cactus. "Ow!"
"Very clever using the Changing Chopsticks to shrink down our Wu and hide them in a cactus."Omi commented.
"Yeah..."Dojo said and winced when he touched a spike of the cactus. "But getting them back is painful! Ow! Painful!"
Omi held out the Changing Chopsticks and Dojo simply took them causing Alice to giggle lightly.
"Changing Chopsticks!"Dojo chanted.
Dojo used the Changing Chopsticks to get their Wu he had hidden under the cactus.
Suddenly Kimiko, Raimundo, Omi, Alice and Clay got caught by the ropes of the Black Vipers as Jack flew down.
"Ah, the simplest traps always bring the greatest pleasure."Jack complemented.
"Jesse, I trusted you!"Clay growled. "Why?!"
"I made a little deal with Jack here to regain leadership over my Vipers."Jesse admitted.
Jesse high fived with her red haired friend.
"Nice to have you back, boss."the red haired viper girl responded smugly.
"All I had to do was get you to lead them to your warts."Jesse stated.
Raimundo, Kimiko, Clay and Alice glared at Jesse as Omi let out a sigh.
"This is the most disappointing event turning since the last."Omi said.
"Is it possibly you're going for, turn of events?"Raimundo asked.
"Oh it gets better!"Jessie admitted as she put all of the Shen Gong Wu into the sack, and walked towards Jack. "Not only am I taking my gang back, but I'm taking your warts two!"
This caused Jack and Wuya to become shocked.
"Those are my warts!"Jack complained.
"I tried to warn you all."Clay said bitterly. "Once a varmint, always a varmint."
"Jack-Bots, attack!"Jack ordered.
The Jack-Bots flew forward, only for them to shake a little and crash on the ground.
"Your kidding me!"Jack complained.
"We work on our bikes all day, son."the red haired viper girl admitted with a smirk and held out a wrench. "You think we can't sabotage some tin-cans when your not looking?"
"Man, I'm never coming back to Texas!"Jack scowled with a glare.
Jack and Wuya took off as Jesse waved them good-bye.
"That's right, slick!"Jesse laughed. "Don't mess with Texas!"
Clay ripped off the rope around him and reached out to grab the bag of Shen Gong Wu.
However Clay and Jesse both touch the bag of Shen Gong Wu at the same time, starting a Xiaolin Showdown.
"It looks like if you want your warts, you and me are gonna have a Xiaolin Showdown."Jesse challenged.
"I accept."Clay replied. "Your Silk Spitter against my Changing Chopsticks."
"The game is Demolition Viper Bike Derby."Jesse stated. "First to make it out in one piece wins."
"Let's just get this over with."Clay retorted. "Let's go, Xiaolin Showdown!"
When the showdown started, rocks arise from the ground in the shape of a derby track while Jesse and Clay were in bikes that resembled vipers.
"Gong Yi Tan Pai!"Jesse and Clay yelled out in unison.
Raimundo, Kimiko, Omi and Alice cheered at Clay while the Black Vipers cheered at Jesse.
"The only thing better than riding is flying!"Jesse commented and took out the Silk Spitter. "Silk Spitter!"
Jessie used the Silk Spitter to block the path behind her with a big web so that her brother won't get through.
"Changing Chopsticks!"Clay chanted.
Clay used the Changing Chopsticks to fly through a hole in the web.
The Dragon of Earth landed in Jesse's hat and flew off her, only to have Jesse fall off the track.
"CLAY!"Jesse yelled out.
"Jesse!"Clay shouted and rode down the track. "I got you!"
Clay lassoes Jessie with a rope to save her.
"Hop on!"Clay ordered.
Jesse kicked Clay off his bike and rode on it.
"Don't mind if I do!"Jesse answered with a evil smile. "In your face, Clay! Yee-Haw!"
Jesse rides the bike through the finish line, winning the showdown.
Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko and Alice rushed over to Clay.
"That was not a very honourable way to win."Omi said.
The five monks moved out of the way as the Black Vipers rode past them.
"Sorry about that, Clay."Alice apologised sadly.
"Are you hurt?"Kimiko asked.
"Just my pride and maybe where I sit."Clay answered.
The monks watched the Black Vipers take off in the wild plains as the sun was setting down.
"The worst part was I really thought she changed."Clay commented.
"I know."Omi assured and patted Clay's arm. "But sometimes you are just too trusty."
Later that Night...
The five monks and Dojo returned to the Xiaolin Temple.
Clay sat on his room staring at an image of himself riding on a pig when he was a baby.
The Dragon of Earth remembers happily playing with his sister when they were both infants causing his mood to become more down.
Master Fung cleared his throat causing Clay to notice him and the package he was holding.
"A package for me?"Clay asked.
Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko and Alice watched as Clay opened the package.
"Who is it from?"Omi asked.
Clay took out a letter from the package which revealed to be from Jesse.
Dear big brother,
It took me a while but I finally beat you!
Only it didn't feel as satisfying as I had imagined.
Anyway, just so there's no hard feelings, I'm returning all of your warts!
Oh, except for one ah was hoping to borrow.
See you around!
Your baby sister, Jesse
Clay happily grinned after finishing reading the letter as Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko and Alice took out the Shen Gong Wu from the package.
"See? I knew she changed her ways."Omi bragged.
"Sure, you did."Alice said sarcastically. "Your always right about everything, Omi."
