The sun beamed in from the kitchen window, casting the room in a bright surreal light.
Piper stood by the sink, washing vegetables. She happily hummed to herself as she did so. There was movement from behind her, but she did not look. She was wrapped up in her own task at hand.
"Pipes," came a voice from behind her.
Piper finally stopped what she was doing. She turned off the sink and slowly turned to look at the person behind her. A smile spread across her features as she locked eyes with them.
"Alex," she replied with a note of surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"You didn't hear me come in?" asked Alex, taking a step towards where Piper stood.
"No. I guess I didn't,"admitted Piper.
"How was your day?" asked Alex as she continued to enclose the space between them before stopping just shy of a foot. She looked at Piper, a small smirk dancing across her features.
"My day was good," replied Piper, returning Alex's smile. The two women just stood there gazing at one another, lost in their own blissfulness. They were happy and weren't afraid to show it.
"How's the baby?" asked Alex, breaking the silence. She looked down at Piper's stomach, where a small, slightly noticeable bump was.
Piper's hand immediately went to her stomach and began to rub it. She too stared at it before meeting Alex's eye again. "They're good too," she whispered.
"Good!" Alex smiled at Piper before leaning forward for a kiss…
Piper's eyes fluttered open as she was rudely awoken by the sound of a car alarm going off nearby.
Sweat drenched her body as her heart pounded loudly against her chest. Her hands clenched slightly at the sheets of the bed. Her eyes looked around the bedroom as she forced herself up into a seated position.
It had all been a dream.
There was no kitchen or Alex around.
Piper was at home. In her bedroom. The one she shared with her husband, Larry.
A mixture of confusion and disappointed twisted over Piper as she tried to make sense of everything. When had she gotten home? She thought. The last thing she remembered from last night was arriving at the bar and ordering a margarita…
Oh, she remembered the margarita, there had been a number of those. Her stomach turned slightly at just the thought of the drink. As a slight feeling of uneasiness washed over her, Piper put her hand to her stomach.
As she looked down at her hand resting on the flatness of her stomach, she was immediately reminded of her dream. She'd been pregnant. With Alex's baby? She wasn't quite sure about that last part. She felt her heart rate pick up yet again as she slowly began to panic.
Was this her body's way of telling her she was pregnant? Dreams always had some hidden meaning behind them. What was this strange dream telling her? Was she pregnant or was she just wishing she was pregnant, but with Alex's baby...not Larry?
As her thoughts went into overdrive, Piper flung herself out of bed, ignoring the sudden pain in her head and the sickness in her stomach. She opened the top draw of the end table by the bed and immediately began to rummage through it. It took her a few moments to find what she'd been searching for.
Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, Piper opened the small compact and began to count the pills within it. Piper, despite what she had told Larry, hadn't gone off the pill. She knew it was a pretty big lie for her to keep from her husband. But she hadn't the heart to tell him, she just couldn't. She couldn't tell him she wasn't ready for a baby. So she allowed him to try for a baby, knowing full well that nothing would come from it.
Piper sighed out of relief as she finished counting the pills. She hadn't forgotten to take one. She counted the pills a second time, just to be sure before hiding them once again in the drawer.
She then stood up on shaky legs and walked towards the bathroom. She desperately needed to pee and brush her teeth. The insides of her mouth felt like sandpaper against her tongue. She shouldn't have drank that much last night she thought. But as the fogginess of her mind began to lift, she was slowly starting to remember why she'd consumed the large amount of tequila she had.
She remembered the fight with Larry, seeing Alex with her girlfriend, and the need to shut everything off. Hence consuming her sorrows in an endless river of margaritas last night.
Piper didn't bother to look at her appearance in the mirror, she avoided it exactly at all costs as she moved around the bathroom. She knew she looked like shit, she felt like complete shit. She didn't need to see proof of it to know. Maybe she deserved to feel this shitty, she thought. Maybe she didn't deserve waking up feeling good? Was this her own subconscious somehow punishing herself for the choices she'd made in her life recently? She wasn't exactly getting a gold star for being the perfect wife. Not even three months into being married, Piper had already created a lifetime of damage; from starting an affair and now lying about being on the pill. Was she self destructing and she wasn't even aware of it?
Piper shook her head as if trying to erase these sudden dark thoughts in her mind. All this thinking was making her head hurt even worse than it already did. Opening her eyes, she leaned on the vanity's white countertop, pressing her hands hard on the edge as she gripped it. Her eyes scanned over everything until finding her toothbrush. It wasn't hard. Her toothbrush was neatly sitting beside Larry's in the toothbrush holder between the Jack and Jill sinks.
She held her gaze on the two toothbrushes sitting together. There was nothing special about seeing the brushes together. They'd been living together for a few years now. This simple symbol of two people living together was nothing to hover over. However, it struck something with Piper. Maybe she was still drunk. Maybe she was just over analyzing things this morning.
It took her a moment before reaching out and taking her toothbrush and finally completing the task she had first come in the bathroom to do. Piper brushed her teeth vigorously and quickly; scrubbing off the taste of last night from her mouth.
As she spat a wad of toothpaste into the skin, she once again tried to piece together what had happened the night previous. She knew she had drank heavily, that had already been established...She remembered the bartender, Boo addressing her by her full name...She remembered at one point a bowl of chips had been given to her...She remembered the bar filling up with people suddenly...She remembered a text from Alex...Alex.
It then dawned on her that she had spoken to Alex.
Alex had been at the bar with her.
"Fuck!" cursed Piper as she stormed out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom. She began to throw pillows and sheets off the bed in search of her phone. Where had she left her phone? Had she called Alex to come to the bar? OR had she just appeared by herself? She couldn't remember how the fuck Alex had gotten there.
She prayed she hadn't drunk called her. She'd already made a fool of herself in front of Alex by going to her house unannounced yesterday, upset. She didn't know how she would live with herself if she had drunk called her to come join her at the bar.
Piper swore again as she came up empty handed. The phone wasn't in the bed or on the nightstand where she usually kept it at night.
Think, Piper. Think.
She needed to remember what had happened last night. She needed to know if any damage had been done, other than one to her marriage.
Collapsing onto the edge of the bed, Piper buried her face into her hands and forced herself to remember the events of last night.
Last night...
A deafening silence fell over the two women as they sat staring at one another.
"It was a late miscarriage," continued on Piper. She couldn't take the silence from Alex. She needed to fill the sudden void of quietness that had fallen over them. "The baby had just started to kick...it felt like the flutter of butterfly wings. I was so happy..and then one day it was all gone...taken away like someone switching off a light…" She stopped talking and looked away from Alex.
It was suddenly all too painful to look into those green eyes. She dropped her head to her chest and bit down on her lip. She could feel another wave of emotions coming over her, but she tried to fight it off. She hated how her mind kept on betraying her with images of her daughter. It kept on playing it like a film reel in her head over and over. She couldn't fucking escape it like some dark plague, no matter how hard she fought not to think about it. That day kept on creeping back.
"I should go," she murmured after a moment and lifted her head. She pulled her hand away from Alex's and rubbed her face. She didn't dare to look at Alex, who had yet to say anything. She didn't want to see the pity on her face which she knew would be there. It was always there when she told someone about the miscarriage. She needed to get home, she thought suddenly to herself. She'd overstayed her visit at the bar. She had no idea what time it was, but she figured it was late. She was surprised that Larry hadn't called her yet wondering where she was. It'd been hours since she'd stormed out of Polly's baby shower.
She knew she'd put up a big fuss, saying she hadn't wanted to go home. But she was suddenly overcome with exhaustion. Crying had taken an emotional turmoil on her.
"I'll drive you," stated Alex standing up.
"I can walk," offered Piper as she slowly rose to her feet. She stumbled slightly but quickly gained her balance. She didn't want to be a burden to the brunette than she already had been. Plus, she figured that the night air would do her some good and clear her head a bit.
"I'm driving you home," stated Alex again. She placed a hand on the crook of Piper's elbow, steadying her. Alex was pretty sure that Piper would be able to get home by herself if needed. The town was pretty safe at night. However, she wasn't going to take that risk.
Piper didn't know if it was due to the large amount of tequila coursing through her bloodstream at the moment or something else, but Alex's touch seemed to burn against her skin. The blonde looked down at where Alex's hand was wrapped around her elbow and up at her face. She could feel her cheeks flushing as she nervously tried to read what Alex was thinking. She hadn't spoken a word about what she'd just confessed to her. She guessed she was graceful? That Alex hadn't responded like everyone else did; with immediate sympathy and apologizes. She didn't need any more of those, she thought.
Alex knew that Piper was waiting for some sort of response from her, but she didn't honestly know what to say. Miscarriages sucked, but she couldn't possibly say that. It sounded too immature. She could have said she was sorry, but that didn't sit well with her either. It sounded too cold, and impersonal. She wasn't good with dealing serious things like this. She had no experience with miscarriages. Known of her friends back in the city were having families yet.
"Look Alex," began Piper. "You don't have too. I know I just dropped a bomb of crap on your lap..Hey that rhymed." She couldn't help but smile at her own cleverness. She didn't know if she was trying to joke to make this tension between them go away or she was just plain drunk.
"Pipes," spoke Alex. "I'm sorry."
"What?" asked Piper, her smiling fading away to confusion.
Alex sighed and looked away briefly from Piper before speaking. "I'm sorry about the miscarriage," she said, her eyes once again returning to the blonde's. She meant it. She was sorry that Piper had lost a child. "I'm sure it sucked."
"It did suck," replied Piper softly.
The two women didn't say anything for a moment as they continued to look at one another. Piper was grateful for Alex's simple reaction to her news. She hadn't wanted to make a big deal about it.
"Come on," whispered Alex. "Let's get you home."
"Ok."
Alex then took Piper by the hand and let her out of the bar to her car.
Alex reached out for her phone as she lay in bed. She glanced briefly over at Wren who was passed out beside her.
She groaned as she noticed the time displayed on her phone. It was just past 11. She hated how late she'd slept in. Not that she'd gotten much sleep after returning home with Piper. Her mind had been too preoccupied with Piper and what she had told her. She hated the pain she had been in. She'd just wanted to kiss it all away.
Alex carefully got out of bed, making sure not to awaken Wren. She didn't want to have to deal with her girlfriend at the moment. She knew that once she woke up she'd be a handful. She didn't feel like babysitting. She needed at least a few hours by herself as she processed everything.
Placing her glasses onto her face, Alex made her way out of the bedroom and headed to the kitchen.
She looked at her phone again. There was no text or phone calls from Piper. She frowned as she continued to look down at her phone in disappointment. She'd been expecting or at least hoping for a text from Piper. Just something telling her that they were okay. That she was okay.
As Alex began to make a pot of coffee, she thought back to last night and how she'd ended things with Piper.
Last night…
"Can you take the long way?" asked Piper as she got into the passenger side of Alex's car.
"The long way? There's no fucking long way," replied Alex, glancing sideways at Piper.
"Can we just drive around for a bit then?"
Alex turned in her seat to look at the blonde clearly. She fidgeted with her glasses as she tried to figure out Piper. She was really starting to scare her with this whole not wanting to go home shit.
"Why can't you go home?"
"Because…" Piper's voice trailed off as she lost herself in her thoughts. She didn't know how to tell Alex that "I got into a fight with Larry. And I just don't want to face him...yet."
Alex studied Piper for a second. She was having an inner debate with herself about just dropping Piper off at home or going for a little drive with the blonde. She knew the right thing to do would be to take Piper straight home and let her husband deal with her. But another part of her didn't want to go home herself. She wanted to spend a little time with Piper. She didn't want to go back to her own house, where she knew a high Wren awaited her.
"Is this your way of telling me that you want to run away together?" joked Alex towards Piper.
Piper didn't know what to say to this. Her eyes were wide in surprise of what Alex was suggesting. She knew she was only joking, but a part of her couldn't help but think she wasn't. That she was actually be serious. What if they both just said fuck it and did indeed drive off into the sunset together, away from this town? Images of the movie Thelma & Louise immediately filled her head.
"Let's go for a drive, kid." Alex smirked briefly towards the blonde before starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot.
"Put whatever you want on," spoke Alex gesturing to the car radio.
"Ok," whispered Piper. She leaned forward and fumbled with the knobs of the radio. Filling the small space with sudden noise. She played around with the stations until settling down on an alternative rock station. She didn't know what music Alex usually listened too and she was too nervous to continue looking. So she settled on the generic station which was currently playing The Cranberries.
"Do you want to talk more about it?" asked Alex out of the blue as she turned down a side road and glanced over at Piper.
"Talk more about what?"
"The miscarriage…"
"Fuck no!" cried out Piper.
Alex slightly taken back from Piper's sudden temper. She raised her eyebrows in surprise. She'd meant to upset the blonde anymore than she already was. She just thought that Piper might want to talk about it some more.
"I'm fucking tired of talking about it," continued Piper.
"Ok," spoke Alex quietly realizing she'd hit a nerve with the blonde.
"I'm sorry Alex," apologized Piper running a hand through her hair. "I didn't mean to snap at you like that. I'm just so fucking tired…" She threw up her hands in frustration. She tore her eyes away from Alex and out the window. She could feel a fresh set of tears coming on. This time they were more out of anger than sadness.
"I get it," replied Alex slowly. "You don't have to fucking apologize."
"You do?"
"Yeah...kinda," Alex knew it was her time to share something personal with Piper. "My mom a couple of years ago was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's."
"Oh Alex," murmured Piper, turning to face Alex again.
"At first she would just forget things here or there. But about a year ago or so it got really bad. She just kinda deteriorated into fucking nothing overnight. She doesn't recognize anyone anymore or say anything. She just fucking stares.." her voice crack suddenly with emotion. She rapidly blinked back her tears as she tried to focus on driving. She hadn't meant to get emotional, but she couldn't help it when she thought about her mother's condition.
A blanket of silence fell over them for a moment as they both stirred in their own emotional turmoil.
"Alex, I'm sorry to hear about your mom," said Piper breaking the silence. She truly was sorry. She figured that was why Alex was clearly out of her mother's house. She obviously didn't need it anymore.
"It is what it is," replied Alex with a small shrug of her shoulder. "I know it's not like losing a baby...but I get the not wanting to talk about it."
"Life sucks doesn't it?"
Alex couldn't help but chuckle at this. "It fucking does, kid."
As they continued to drive aimlessly around the town, they didn't talk much. Both seemed to be deep in their own thoughts now. Piper was thinking about her life and what she wanted from it. Alex was thinking about her mom.
They drove around for what seemed like forever to Piper as the sun set and the sky quickly turned from pink to an endless stretch of darkness. In reality, they only drove for an hour or so before Alex was turning down their street.
Piper's heart began to race again as a feeling of doom watched over her. She was nervous to face Larry. She still hadn't heard from him. She'd texted him after getting in the car with Alex that she was safe and coming home. But she'd gotten nothing in return. They didn't usually give each other the silent treatment.
"Well...here we are, kid," said Alex as she pulled the car in front of her house.
"Thank you," whispered Piper, turning in her seat and facing Alex. She desperately wanted to kiss her goodnight.
"It's no problem." Alex turned off the car and looked over at Piper with a smile.
"I want to kiss you." Piper undid her seat belt and inched herself closer to Alex.
"I want to too, but I think we have an audience," spoke Alex slowly as she shifted her attention away from Piper and out the front of the car.
"We do?" asked Piper in a panicked voice. She then followed Alex's gaze where Larry had just come out of their house with Healy following close behind him.
"Looks like the hubby brought in the firing squad," noted Alex.
"Shit," swore Piper as she continued to look out the front window of the car to where Larry and Healy stood on the porch.
"Do you need me to go with you?" asked Alex looking back over at Piper. She knew the blonde was still fairly drunk and her high emotions could just be a side effect of the tequila. However, Alex also knew how Healy could be. She'd never like the guy. She had a bad feeling about him being with Larry. In her time cleaning out the house, she hadn't paid attention to the Blooms relationship with their neighbour. But now seeing the two men together, it didn't sit well with her.
"No. No. You go be with your girlfriend. You've helped me enough tonight...I'll be fine," explained Piper with a wave of her hand. It would all be okay, she thought.
Alex stiffened slightly at the mention of her girlfriend. Piper hadn't said anything all night about Wren and to be honest, Alex had forgotten about her too for a bit.
"Ok," murmured the brunette as she adjusted her glasses and watched as Piper slowly opened the car door.
"Bye," mouthed Piper as she leaned down and looked at Alex one last time before shutting the door.
"Bye," whispered Alex in the quietness of the car. She watched Piper intently as she slowly walked towards her house. It was like watching a baby deer learning how to walk. Piper stumbled a few times as she walked up the driveway and to the front of the house where Larry and Healy waited for her. Alex continued to watch as Larry reached out and took Piper by the elbow, helping her get up the stairs.
She continued to watch from the car as Piper said something to Larry before pointing at Alex's car. The brunette wanted to sink down low in her seat as she felt all three sets of eyes on her, but she resisted the urge. She had to remind herself that she didn't have anything to be embarrassed about. She had just been helping out a friend.
Alex cradled the car keys in her hand as she decided to get out of the car. She didn't want to sit around any longer.
She gave her neighbours a silent wave as she swung her long legs out of the car and stood up. She glanced over at them briefly for a second longer before walking towards her own house.
"Hey. You're up!"
Piper lifted her head from her hands and looked over at Larry who had suddenly appeared in the room.
"How are you feeling champ?" asked Larry as he took a step further into the room.
"Champ?" asked Piper in confusion. Larry had never called her that before.
"Yeah. It's what my dad used to call me every time in high school I woke up hungover," explained Larry with a smile as he thought back to his youth.
Piper didn't say anything in response to this. She just continued to sit on the edge of the bed, staring at Larry. She was in no mood for his little banters about his teenage years.
"I thought you could use one of these." Larry then held out two extra strength aspirins to Piper with a glass of water.
"Thanks," murmured Piper as she took the pain killers from Larry's outstretched hand.
"You were pretty gone last night," spoke Larry slowly. He didn't want to start another fight with Piper. But he knew they couldn't avoid talking about it either. He'd been both hurt and surprised to find Piper not here when he arrived home from the baby shower, yesterday.
"I just had one or two many margaritas," stated Piper before she swallowed the pills and chased them down with water.
"I was worried, Pipes," said Larry softly. He took a step closer to the bed and sat down beside Piper. His brown eyes poured into hers with concern. "I am worried."
Piper held Larry's gaze for a second before looking away and down at the chipped nail polish on her toes.
"You didn't call or text me. I almost had Healy arranged a search party for you," continued to explain Larry. He wasn't mad at Piper, not like he had been last night. However, he was disappointed that she had gone off like she had without a word.
"Oh don't be fucking dramatic Larry," fumed Piper. "Arrange a search party?! I wasn't some fucking missing person!... Plus technically I think you need to be missing 24 hours to be classified as one. I was only gone for a few hours!"
"You could've left a fucking note," Larry argued back, weakly. Maybe having Healy come over and almost start a search party had been a little overboard, but he'd been worried.
"I wasn't thinking. I was pissed and upset," said Piper softly. "I'm sorry." She added almost as an afterthought. Her head hurt too much to be having this conversation. "You could have called too.."
"I'm sorry," whispered Larry as he reached out and took Piper's hand.
Piper looked down at where their fingers lay interlocked on the bed before glancing back up at Larry. Her heart was torn as she continued to look into the dark eyes of her husband. She was torn between loving him and hating him.
The couple stayed like this for a moment or two longer before Larry let go of Piper's hand and suddenly stood up.
Piper watched him with anxious eyes as he pulled her phone out of his back pocket. He gave her a small smile as he handed it over to her.
"Thanks," she whispered as she took the phone from him. She looked down at it briefly, checking to see if she got any messages before putting it down beside her.
"Sam told me I should be worried."
"Worried?" Piper fussed her eyebrows together in confusion. What was Larry getting at now, she thought?
"About you hanging out with our neighbour, Alison?" said Larry. He couldn't remember the tall dark haired woman name. He'd only met her briefly over a month ago at that fundraiser thing and maybe once since then.
"Alex," corrected Piper.
"Yeah, her."
"Alex's just a friend," spoke Piper quickly. She didn't like the direction this conversation was going in.
"He said she's bad news."
"Really Larry? Bad news? What are we in some 1950s sitcom here? Next you're going to tell me that you want to go down to Arthur's and share a milkshake?"
"He just said that she was sick in the head and that I shouldn't let you be around her," went on to explain Larry casually, ignoring Piper's sarcasm.
"Sick? The only person who is a sicko is that fucking ignorant, pretentious old man who has a stick up his ass! He thinks that just because Alex's gay that she's the one with the issue!" Piper was on her feet now and pacing around the room. She'd never had a good feeling about Healy. And now it just proved she'd been right. Fuck him! She thought. Fuck him for warning Larry like he'd about Alex. Fuck him for thinking that she needed some sort of protection against Alex.
"Woe! Calm down Pipes," spoke Larry. "I didn't say I agreed with him. I don't even know this Alex person...and that's what I told Sam. I'm not going to judge someone on their sexuality. You know me...I'm not that type of person."
"I know you aren't," replied Piper softly as she tried to calm herself. "I just hate people like Healy who think that just because I'm your wife that I need you to protect me and I can't judge a person's character on my own."
"Would you stop pacing?" asked Larry, reaching out and taking Piper's hand.
The blonde stopped moving immediately and looked down at where their fingers contacted. She swallowed hard over the sudden lump at the back of her throat.
How had they gotten here? She thought. It seemed like all they did nowadays was bicker. They hadn't really fought before. They usually saw eye to eye on most things. Her life had been so easily laid out in front of her a couple of months ago; a nice normal life. A good life some would say. It was a life she'd wanted at one point. It was a life a part of her still wanted to have. She really did love Larry. But why was she destroying it? Why was she cheating on him? Why was she destroying such a good thing? She knew the reason, but she didn't want to address it.
"Are you hungry?" asked Larry towards her.
Piper shifted her blue eyes up towards Larry's face. She nodded her head shyly like a child.
"Okay, let's go make you some lunch then." Larry smiled back at Piper as he rose to his feet. He dropped her hand briefly before pulling her into a hug.
"I love you Pipes," he whispered before pressing a tender kiss to her temple.
"I love you too," murmured back Piper as she hugged him back.
The couple knew they still had a lot of issues to iron out, but they both just wanted to settle for a little bit of peace at the moment.
Alex tried not to look out at the house across the street.
However, she couldn't help herself. She hadn't heard from Piper and it was driving her crazy. She knew she could text her, but she didn't want to disturb her at the same time.
She wanted Piper to come to her.
She couldn't control their current situation and it was driving her crazy.
Alex was glad that Piper had been honest with her. That they both had been honest with each other; Piper with her miscarriage and her about her mom. They both now knew what their darkest secrets were, now. Or at least some of them.
Alex hoped that they could move their relationship further after this. By that she didn't mean like to date Piper. As much as her heart desired too. She wanted to get to know Piper on a friendship basis. She wanted to be able to talk openly with Piper and her the same. She wanted to be friends as well as lovers. She just had to hope that Piper felt the same way. She knew that they had a connection with one another or at least she thought so. She just had to hope that Piper felt the same way.
She heard Wren come into the living room, but she paid no attention as she continued to look out the window.
She wanted Piper to appear in the front second floor window like she had all those weeks ago, naked.
She just wanted to catch a glimpse of her, just one fucking glimpse.
"Alex, what are you looking at?" asked Wren as she came to stand beside Alex. The younger woman glanced briefly out the window and back at her girlfriend. She didn't see what was so fascinating about the house across the street.
Luckily Wren had been passed out stone called by the time Alex had returned home. So Alex didn't have to explain why she had dropped off her neighbour last night.
"Nothing," said Alex quickly, shutting the conversation down. As much as it pained her to do so, she tore her eyes away from Piper's house and solely focused on Wren. They only had a couple more hours together before Alex would be dropping her off again at the bus stop. Leaning forward, Alex kissed Wren tenderly on the lips.
They stared at each other for a moment before Alex took her by the hand. "Let's get the fuck out of here," she whispered. She couldn't help but smirk as Wren's face broke out into a broad grin.
Alex could do this, she thought. She could pretend to be the happy good girlfriend that Wren thought she was for a couple more hours. She didn't know where they would go, but she needed to get out of the house, suddenly Staying here was making her skin begin to crawl. It not only reminded her of her mother, but of Piper too.
She once again needed a distraction from Piper and her feelings.
"Okay," replied Wren, her eyes dancing with amusement. "Just let me change first."
Piper stepped out of her house the exact moment that Alex and Wren were leaving their's.
Piper stopped dead in her tracks, watching the couple through the corner of her eye. She pretended to be tying the laces on her running shoes as she studied the couple from afar.
They hadn't noticed her yet or if they had, they didn't address her. Alex had her back towards her as she locked the front of the house. Wren was standing on the front steps, waiting for Alex. Piper took this opportunity to study Wren. She hadn't gotten a good look at her yesterday. Wren was young, she noted, younger than she thought Alex's girlfriend would be. She had that honey brown hair tied up in a topknot. She was wearing a baby blue bardot cropped top and high-cut jean shorts. The kind of shorts that young girls seemed to wear nowadays which made their ass-cheeks displayed to the world.
She'd to admit that she was hot. She could see why Alex was with her. They made a hot couple.
Piper continued to watch as the younger women said something to Alex which made her laugh. The blonde watched as Alex pocketed the keys in the back of her own jean shorts and took the girl's hand. A feeling of envy washed through Piper suddenly as the couple shared a kiss before heading down the driveway.
Piper continued to crouch low, hoping that Alex wouldn't catch her spying as they came closer.
She waited until they were in the car and began to drive away before raising to her feet. She stretched out her legs which ached slightly from being in the same position for so long, before beginning her run.
Okay, I know there wasn't as much Vauseman in it as you would like. But I promise that in the next chapter there will be. Just stick with me.
Thanks for reading and please review!
