I was going to update tomorrow. But it's the lovely Mina Rivera's birthday today, and she asked for an update. Happy Birthday Mina!

Chapter 22

Forks Hospital

Forks, Washington

June 2034 – 1:00 p.m.

Carlisle finally received the fax he had been waiting for. Then one with the information on the sperm donor. His hand trembled slightly with uncharacteristic nerves. They hadn't really bothered to look—as desperate as they were to have a child at the time, they simply opened the book to the middle and selected the person on that page. As much as he was dying to look at it now, the McCartys and Cullens had agreed to wait and look at them together.

The growl was animalistic; Carlisle had never heard his son make a noise like that, and it chilled him to the bone. Esme was white as a sheet beside him, shaking slightly.

"You don't own me, old man." Jasper snarled, turning in Carlisle's direction. "I am forced to live here because of societal rules, but you have no ownership over me. I am a man, and I live by my own rules."

"You are our son. You are eighteen and we love you, but while you live under our roof, you have to understand that your actions have consequences. Skipping school to have sex with Alice has consequences, and that consequence is grounding."

Jasper stood from the table so abruptly that his chair crashed behind him. Startling the pair, he picked it up and threw it straight through the glass coffee table in the next room.

"Fine, then I won't live in your fucking house anymore. Happy now?" He turned and stomped to his room, grabbing a duffle bag and stuffing clothes into it.

Esme started weeping quietly; despite everything, she didn't want to lose her son. Carlisle sighed and walked up the stairs, petrified of what he would find.

Jasper wasn't in his room as Carlisle expected him to be. He was confused, until he noticed the open window and the sheets hanging out. Running downstairs, he realized he was too late, when he heard the roar of the engine and the squeal of the tires peeling out of the driveway.

"What do you mean I'm grounded?" Alice demanded of her parents. "You can't fucking ground me. I'm going to Rachel's. It's been planned for, like, ever!"

"While you live under this roof, you will live by our rules. You skipped school with Jasper yesterday. So you are grounded."

Alice laughed, and it sent a chill down their spines. "If you don't let me leave, you'll regret it," she said, voice dripping with malice. She looked at Emmett's hand. "That 'accident' will be a walk in the park compared to what I would do to you."

Emmett gulped and glanced at Rosalie for direction. He could already see her faltering and sighed. "Fine, you aren't grounded, but no more skipping school, and be home before midnight on Sunday."

Alice opened the door to find Jasper already on the other side. "Let's get out of here," she said, grabbing his hand.

Neither Rose nor Emmett paid attention to the fact that she hadn't left with Rachel.
