Hello readers and happy Memorial Day Eve! (to those of you in the United States or those who celebrate it tomorrow) I hope you are all taking care of your self whether your community, state, or country is relaxing your COVID-19 rules and regulations or not. I figured that since it's been almost two months to the date of the last time I posted, I put out some chapters... you're not seeing things, I will be putting more that one chapter up today! Now let's see who has left some reviews since my absence...
Rescue Wolf: That is exactly how I looked at it. I recently saw the episode of how Everest joined the paw patrol again before I created the previous chapter and it got me thinking about how her living out in the artic most of her life had taught her lessons that Skye was never taught. I did want to show in that previous chapter all of the anger that chase kept building throughout this story just explode so he was pretty reckless there, that's what I was going for. Thank you for continuing to read my stories, I appreciate the support.
Amelia154: I'm glad that you enjoyed the last chapter, I hope the wait wasn't too unbearable. Thank you for continuing to read my stories, I really appreciate the support.
drmatt542: Wow! Thank you for those encouraging words, I give it my all each chapter. I never considered myself an artist, but writing is considered an art. Thank you for reading my stories, I really appreciate the support.
seilornyan: Friendships are complicated, that I can agree with. Thank you for reading my stories, I really appreciate the support.
rainbow the pikachu 23: You are fine, comment whenever and where ever you want to. I still get review on stories I've finished already. As for your question, I can't say for sure. They are nice people but we will have to wait and see what happens in the end with those doctors. Thank you for reading my stories, I really appreciate the support.
Alright, enough chat, let's get back to the story.
Marshall's POV:
I watched as the teams left the base to start searching places, medic, Lucky, Officer John, and I were left at the base as the others went searching. I decided to check on a few things while the others were away. Medic and I went over what supplies that we had, just in case something happened. Then I walked the halls and not even realizing it I had ended up in front of the wing entrance with the pound in it. I decided to go check on the gang dogs we captured. The first cell I came up to belonged to Ethan and Lilly, siblings in crime. Ethan gave me no trouble and was completely deference. However, his sister was irreverent and caused a fracas.
"Lilly, I'm just making sure that you are doing ok. Can you please let me do a check up on you" I asked kindly for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"No Way! You're going to poison me or something you dumb mutt" Lilly screamed in a defensive stance
"Lilly, if he did not hurt me, I doubt it highly that he will hurt you at all." Ethan said "besides, I wouldn't have let him touch me if I didn't trust him" Ethan added glancing at me, a clear warning in his eyes if I did hurt his sister, it would not be good.
Lilly looked cautious for a mere moment the stalked over to her bed griping the whole way, "fine, let's get this over with" Lilly said and allowed me to do a checkup. Then I went to Tom and Vince's cage a few cells down. They were relatively nonchalant, granted Vince growled at me through most of the checkups. After I finished up with them, I had one last cage to check… Sylvia's. I walked up to it and found Sylvia was laying in the center of the cell, her back to me very mundane.
"Hello Sylvia" I said as I came up
"Ah, Marshall; How are you, my clumsy doctor?" she inquired
I bit back a sharp retort and sighed "I'm doing good. I'm just doing some…"
"Checkups, I know. That little pup made me aware of you in the room." Sylvia said interrupting me
"I'm not surprised, she put on quite a capricious show for just a simple checkup." I said smiling as I walked into her cell.
"So, what are you planning to do for this checkup?" Sylvia asked
"Just a regular one today." I said rummaging through my bag of tools
"it seems so doctor. Well, carry on then" she said with a smirk.
I looked up at her, as I continued to retrieve things out of my bag. "is there something wrong?" she asked mellifluously
"No, nothing's wrong" I said as I put my stethoscope around my neck. I pulled out my otoscope, ophthalmoscope, and a pressure sleeve. what is she up to i thought as I approached her
"Ok, I need you to sit up please Sylvia" I asked, Sylvia complied and sat up and sat back on her haunches. I put on my stethoscope and placed the sensor on her chest. Sylvia visually shivered, I warmed it up and reapplied it to her chest. After a few moments, I got a heart rate of 118. Then I took a look at her eyes, she showed signs of strain, probably means lack of sleep. Finally, I put the sleeve on her arm and started pumping the gage. I got a rating of 150/95. I took off my stethoscope and put all my tools back in my pack.
"Well Sylvia, all checks out." I said
"Good, good." She said smiling
"Is there something wrong?" I asked
"Nope, I'm just ready to leave." she said with a sly smile
I chuckled "well, you are not leaving. Not for a while" I said walking through the gate to her cell.
"We will see." she said as I closed the door
I just laughed "I'd like to see you try" I said turning to leave. Suddenly I heard this high pitch sound, almost like a whistle. I turned to Sylvia and she smiled vindictively, suddenly there was a tremendous explosion. I was thrown into a wall and a cage door landed on me along with debris from the pound. All I could hear was my heart pounding, my vision was in a nebulous state. I shook my head and my foggy vision cleared and my hearing returned.
I could hear the blaring alarms, the ferocious fire that roared, and the echoing of the caterwauling voices. I could hear people talking in the distance as I saw a figure approach me in the smoke. I started coughing from the smoke as I saw it was Sylvia. She was completely untouched except for the dust from the building. She came up to me with a vile smile on her face. Then she put her front paws on the cage and extruded it. There was intense pain in my lower chest and hip area. I screamed in pain as she leaned close to me.
"You know what's funny pup; this was all according to plan." She said soberly
"What?!" I cried and then screamed as Sylvia pushed again and the fence pushed tauter against my lower chest
"Yes, I intended to get captured. It's all part of Swift's master plan. The only way that you or any of your… your crew can get to your precious girls, is if he wants you to. Your friends that had just left to find bases, will find some but they are walking into traps. All have been set to capture or kill your friends" Sylvia said laughing maliciously pushing again on the cage and causing me to yelp.
Sylvia leaned a little closer and pushing harder. I hissed in agony "I can tell you this though Marshall; Swift and the boss of the gangs want to meet soon. So, whoever survives their trips, we plan on meeting all of you on the battlefield soon." She said then jumped off the cage and walked away laughing venomously
"Damn You Sylvia! I can Promise You That Next Time We Meet, You Will Die!" I screamed as soon as I caught my breath. I watched her walk back into the nebulous that was once the pound.
"Help, Somebody, Help Me!" I cried out
"Marshall! Hang On!" I heard what sounded like Rubble's voice
Moments later, Rubble appeared and started to clear away debris. It took him some time, but he got me out. "Come on Marshall, let's get you out of here" Rubble said helping me up and helping me to getaway.
When I got out of the area that had been part of the explosion, I looked around and saw that all the other dogs that were in the pound managed to get out and were getting looked at by the EMT's of the base.
"Marshall!"
I glanced up to see Medic sprinting towards me and then slammed into me. I inhaled sharply in pain as she hugged me.
"Oh Crap, I'm so sorry Marshall. Let me make sure you are ok" my little sister said apologetically
"Medic, for goodness sakes I'm fine. You need to che-AH!" I screamed as she touched the spot where the cage pressed against me.
"Yeah, just as I though. You are not fine Marshall, now I need to treat you" she stated tactfully
"No, I'm fine it's just bruising, go check on the others." I said clutching my side tautly
"I already did check the others, they walked out, you were the only one who needed to be carried out. Now just shut up and let me have a look" Medic said authoritatively and sternly glaring at me.
I sighed in defeat and let her examine me. She started to poke and prod me. When she got to my lower chest I gasped in pain. Then she poked there again
"Hey, that hurts" I grunted
"I'm sorry but I need to make sure of where it is" she said and poked lower, causing me to gasp in pain each time, until she came to my legs and the pain stopped.
"Hmm" she said, "well, it looks like it got to your hip region, but it seems that the lower body is the worst…" Medic stated
"Alright, well patch me up. I need to tend to the other injured" I said, just then I heard a vehicle approaching the base. I stood up to see who it was but, I fell back down. I was able to see that it was Ryder and Chase's cruiser.
"What the hell happened here!" Ryder said as he got out of the truck and rushed over followed by Chase
"Sylvia, that's what happened here." I grunted spitefully
"What do you mean, she was in the holding cell in the pound?" Chase said confused
"Well, some gang dogs got onto the property somehow and blew up the back wall causing part of it to fall. Then she got away, but not without leaving me a message." I said somberly
"What did she say to you?" Ryder asked
"She said that the only way to get to Swift or Skye and Everest is if Swift wants us too. All of this was planned, Sylvia getting caught, the team splitting up to find the girls, he has planned everything that is happening!" I said coughing hard
Everyone around me stood there flabbergasted, the air was tense in shock.
"Dammit, I should have known that it was too easy to catch Sylvia the way I did. Now, thanks to me they just blew up our base and know where we are based" Chase growled scuffing the floor.
"And everyone still out there on a mission, is in serious danger. They are walking into a trap" I added soberly and everyone became silent and the air became eerily still.
What?! How?! Sylvia meant to get caught?! What exactly does Swift have planned for the Paw Patrol, it's not looking good for the Paw Patrol. Will the other teams make it out alive from their searches? All these questions and more to be answered as this story continues.
I hope that you all enjoyed this chapter, another will be coming up shortly. I also wanted to say thank you to all of you who continue to read my stories. I really do appreciate all the support.
