Lauren felt a tinge of guilt for leaving her party, but she had left a very important file at the office. So, she had to go and get it. Otherwise it would drive her crazy for the rest of the night, not having it at home so she could pour over it. She knew she was probably breaking speeding limits, but she didn't care. She would get the file and go back home. She jumped out of the car and nearly sprinted towards the front doors of her clinic. Up the stairs she went before she reached it.
"Ahhh Dr. Lewis is it? You were wise to come alone". A woman snickered in the shadows.
"And you were stupid to think she's alone". Bo jumped up half of the steps and readied for whatever direction the woman would come out of.
"This has nothing to do with you baby Fae! The woman screamed in hysterics.
"Lauren is mine. You come for her, you come for me". Bo laughed as she popped her knuckles.
"Bo…". Lauren waved her back.
"No Lauren. You will not be ambushed. This bitch showed up at your clinic, after hours, this is obviously personal". Bo stared at the Doctor before looking for the woman again.
"Grab her Marnie so we can get the hell out of here". A raspy voice spoke.
"Show yourselves! Bo screamed.
The women went dead silent. Bo walked up to Lauren and stood in front of her. The Doctor gently pushed her off and looked behind her. When she turned around again, she had been snatched around her waist.
The hands that grabbed her started to melt and the woman screamed in agony.
"I told you, she's mine". Bo laughed.
"All of you! Grab the Doctor. I'll handle the Succubus! The first woman screamed.
Bo and Lauren looked up and saw hundreds of people about to swarm in from the sky.
"Run Lauren! I will handle them! Bo screamed as she pushed the Doctor forwards. They would burn if they touched Lauren but Bo didn't want her touched at all.
"There will be no need for her to run! Keldon swooped down with Aife in his arms.
"No Grandfather, I don't want Lauren to have to fight these assholes, that's why I thralled her body." Bo spoke softly.
"Who said she was going to fight? Keldon laughed as he clapped his hands.
Soon thousands of Fae appeared. Growling, barking, purring, and heavy breathing could be heard.
"Welcome to our ambush! Keldon laughed as the Fae demolished the others and Lauren and Bo never had to lift a finger. Aife started fighting just to have something to do. Once she became bored at her own dominance, she joined the women on the steps.
"Who are they? Bo asked.
"Old friends of your grandfather. He had me call them in earlier. We just didn't know when to use them, until now". Aife laughed.
"Who were those women? Bo asked.
"A few wives of Dyson's old pack mates. They wanted Lauren to pay for getting involved. I guess the stupid bitches thought she was truly alone. Well they will learn now. She will never be alone". Aife laughed again. Keldon was deep into his fight. He disposed of man after man as the others disposed of their own. Soon bodies were sprawled on the ground in front of and around Lauren's clinic.
"Clean this mess up and get them the hell out of here! Keldon screamed.
"Yes, My King! The Fae bowed and before the gang knew it, it was only the four of them left.
"Go and get what you came for Lauren". Bo spoke softly as they stood looking out at the blood on the grounds.
"They got way too close". Bo seethed.
"They did. But they had to learn, the hard way". Aife laughed as she attended to Keldon's torn garments.
"I will be fine Aife". The old man gently removed her hand from his shoulder.
"Come on Lauren. Let's get you home". Bo smiled as the Doctor quickly emerged from the clinic. The Succubus took her hand as they walked to Bo's car.
"I'll drive Lauren's car to your place". Aife offered as the Doctor threw her keys to her.
"Thanks mom". Bo replied as she helped Lauren into her car.
The women were off, far ahead of Aife as Bo sighed deeply.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to come and get this file". Lauren whispered.
"I'm not mad at you Lauren. They just got too close to you. That can't ever happen again". Bo bristled.
"Bo, I can take care of myself". Lauren bit back.
"I know you can love. I just don't want filth like that ever touching you. They don't have the right to ever do that". Bo squeezed Lauren's hand. She didn't mean to sound angry, but those people had pissed her off.
Lauren rested her head on the headrest and looked out the window. She loves Bo and knows there will always be people coming for them. But she wasn't as helpless as all that. But Bo is right to be angry too. She never would have seen those threats coming. But they did come, and Lauren was immediately swarmed with protection.
"How did you know? Lauren turned to Bo.
"Word got back to me to that there was some strange women hanging around your clinic. Then they suddenly disappeared. My gut told me to check on you, that's when Keldon summoned some Fae and took off with mom to meet them and show them where your clinic was. Grandfather literally knows thousands of Fae. They owe him too. So, I had backup to whatever bullshit was coming". Bo made her last turn and Lauren straightened up in her seat.
The women quietly walked into their house and Bo quickly drew a bath. They both sat on opposite ends to massage each other's feet and talked with their eyes. Lauren sighed at Bo's facial expressions. She wouldn't look that way if it wasn't for her leaving for the office. That file could have waited until morning.
"Bo I'm sorry." Lauren squeezed her foot.
"No Lauren. Don't be sorry. I'm not frustrated with you at all. I just want you to live a peaceful life. Especially when it comes to your clinic. I can see I need to beef up security there". Bo squeezed Lauren's foot in response. Her phone beeped a few times, and she checked it so that it would finally stop. "I see Grandfather is ahead of me. There will be half a hundred guards on your clinic. Day and night.".
"They won't interfere or hassle my patients will they? Lauren asked.
"Of course not. It will still be your clinic. Just a lot more guarded". Bo changed feet on Lauren and started massaging the other one. When Lauren started to drift off, Bo stood and picked her up out of the tub.
She gently dried her off and put her in the bed. She climbed in next to her and laid on her back. Rolling over, she watched the Doctor sleep. It angered her that someone thought she was so easy to get to. So easy to try and take. Even without Keldon's crew, she would have fought for Lauren. But thanks to his crew, she was better prepared for the Fae that flew down to fight. They could have snatched the Doctor and alone, Bo wouldn't have been able to stop them.
She pulled the covers up over the Doctor's body when she gently moved. She thought of their future and the bullshit in their path. Lauren is a good woman that never deserved the evil that came her way. Not the Ash. Not the Morrigan. Not Dyson. The last one was mostly because of Bo, and her lack of stating who she wanted most. The woman now gently snoring next to her is all that she wants. All that she needs. She wished they could stay that way forever, but Lauren's needs come first. She needs to be a Doctor. She needs to help people. Bo found it sweet that she's done that for most of her life. It is no wonder she would be drawn to a Doctor. A beautiful one at that. She gently kissed Lauren's forehead and closed her eyes.
Aife and Keldon.
"Stupid shits". Aife seethed
"They won't get away with it. I don't kill women, but the men have all died". Keldon replied.
"Then I will kill them. Man or woman, they will die." Aife stopped pacing.
"Get some rest sweetie. Going out again tonight would draw Bo away from Lauren, and she deserves to rest". Keldon spoke softly.
"Grandfather surely you are not giving up on this. They came after her. I know Bo is trying to lead a peaceful life, but that doesn't mean we have to". Aife laughed.
"Those that are still alive will be brought before me in the morning. You can rest on that". Keldon spoke softly as he walked away from the Succubus. He showered and retired to his bedroom.
"Fine. I will raise hell in the morning. But it won't touch Isabeau's life this time". The Succubus laughed.
The woman sat and turned serious. She never wanted this life for Bo. That's why she wanted to end the divide. As one they would never have tried to attack Lauren. It would have been peaceful. The Dark was far more coordinated. It was the Light that was dysfunctional. But Isabeau surfaced and was going to change all of that whether she knew it or not. She has her Grandmother's goodness and her father's evil. She is literally the best of both worlds. Her mother Succubus is not about to allow her to lose it or Lauren.
Hale and Kenzi.
"After what just happened. You are going to sit your ass down and shut up". Hale gently pushed Kenzi down on the bed. They were at a safe house the other cops had long forgot about.
"Who were all of those people? Is Bo in trouble? Kenzi asked stood up again.
"Now you should know better than that. Bo will live forever." Hale rolled his eyes.
"Where's Lauren? She would know where Bo is". Kenzi paced violently.
"It went down at Lauren's lab, where do you think the both of them are? Hale asked as he finally took a seat. If he sat, Kenzi would eventually sit.
The woman couldn't stand still. She couldn't sit still. She had finally convinced Hale to take her out for a burger and then out of nowhere they saw Fae flying in the sky like the monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. It was scary this time. There was no witch. No Emerald City. Nothing but all kinds of beasts flying in the air.
"We have to find them Hale. Bo could be injured or needing me". Kenzi stopped.
"Bo wasn't touched. Lauren wasn't touched. Neither of them needs your help Kenz". Hale looked up at her over his coffee cup.
"I have to get back in Bo's life. Can you at least help me with that? Kenzi asked.
"No. If Bo wants that, she will come to you. Since she hasn't you must be the farthest thing from her mind". Hale shrugged.
"That was cruel". Kenzi groaned.
"That was real. You like being lied to so you can live in your wolf/succubus bubble. She doesn't want him Kenzi. Not even if he knew who she was". Hale replied.
"She could. If Lauren wasn't always hovering". Kenzi threw her arms into the air.
"She loves her. There's a difference. She takes care of her. They take care of each other". Hale stood and took his coffee cup into the kitchen. He wasn't near tired but Kenzi was starting to bore him with the same old conversation again. She had yet to accept that Bo had made her choice.
Kenzi frowned when he left her there. Alone in a strange room, in a strange house. She was never going to sleep. If he would have only followed the Fae like she asked, she would be on a couch somewhere talking to Bo. Catching up on their girl talk. Like they used to have.
She turned on her heel and walked over to the nearest window. She peeked out the curtain and looked to the sky. There was nothing but stars to be seen. She huffed and closed it. She would shower and held to bed once Hale had finished. She only hoped the towels were clean. She knew they had shampoo and soap.
The Next Morning
The young Succubus was already awake watching Lauren sleep. She still had the covers on her. She smiled at the sight and wondered what a Doctor dreamed of. Lauren had mumbled in her sleep, and it woke Bo up.
She noted the time and wondered if she should let her sleep in a little longer or if Lauren had planned to take the day off after last night. She didn't sit on her debate long and gently shook the Doctor. "Lauren".
"Hmmm? Lauren mumbled.
"It is time to get up sweetie, if you are going to work that is. From the smells of it, Cedric is expecting us downstairs soon". Bo cooed.
The Doctor cleared her throat and rolled over. She wiped her eyes and looked at the clock. She still had a good half hour to shower and go downstairs, just in time for breakfast. "I'm going". She jumped up after a quick kiss with Bo.
The Succubus laid down and waited for her turn to shower. She closed her eyes and thought of their night. She should have sent someone for Lauren's file. They have plenty of staff for errands. Some janitor could have dropped it off. Lauren has plenty of laptops and USB drives to back everything up.
She shook her head. She was being selfish. Lauren wanted the real thing in her possession. It is not her fault assholes exist in the world. All over Dyson's pack. That same pack that should have minded their business. They have come to the wrong town. The wrong colony. This is Bo's life and while she didn't want to keep tabs on Lauren day and night, she would be keeping tabs on whomever roamed the streets, back alleys and sidewalks. Which meant she was about to go and see her grandfather. As soon as she ate breakfast with Lauren and sees her off to work.
She smiled at that. Lauren going to work like nothing happened at all. So committed to her work. Like Bo is committed to her, and everything about the Doctor. She didn't have that clinic built for nothing. If Lauren wants to work, that is where she will do it, forever. She started to wonder if the Doctor would like a second clinic. So those same walls wouldn't eventually bore her. Bo was pulled out of her thoughts by soft lips against hers.
"I'm done". Lauren whispered as she gently held Bo's head in her hand.
"I will be ready in a few minutes". The Succubus rushed into the shower and quickly washed and dressed. She found Lauren sitting on the bed waiting for her.
"You could have gone down and started without me". Bo smiled as the Doctor took her hand.
"This is our routine. Ours." Lauren replied.
"Okay". Bo smiled as they walked down the stairs.
Cedric had loaded up on everything and Bo was grateful. The Doctor would be getting a healthy meal to start her day.
"I may work half a day today. Just so that I don't lose my nerve about going back to work". Lauren spoke after finishing her first bite.
"Why? Bo asked.
"Because I think we should go on a picnic this afternoon. It looks like it's going to be a great day". Lauren smiled.
Bo frowned. She didn't want to risk another possible ambush, but she trusted Keldon's people to be all over the place once she told him about Lauren's plan. With Trick dying, she no longer had a driver and she didn't trust anyone else not to slack off and keep Lauren from her or wherever else she chose to go on the spur of the moment.
"That would be great! While you are at work, I will go and see mom and grandfather." Bo smiled softly.
"Bo, I will be fine. You'll see". Lauren smiled.
"I know. I just worry. About everything, even when I don't need to". Bo stabbed a pancake.
"Come on. Let's dance a little before I leave for work. It will calm your nerves". Lauren pushed her plate aside and stood up.
Bo smiled as she took the Doctor's hand. There is something so delicious and soothing about Lauren when she's in her lab coat. Comforting. Mouthwatering.
They didn't put music on, but slowly danced anyway. Bo inhaled Lauren's scent, hard. She closed her eyes and loved every minute of Lauren pressed against her. She talked to Bo about her childhood. She laughed when she thought of funny events, and it made Bo calm just hearing it.
"I am better now, and it is time for you to head to work. Thank you so much for this Lauren. I know it broke our routine, but it was a nice thought". Bo smiled as she pulled back from the Doctor.
"You never have to thank me Bo, and I do need to run". Lauren kissed Bo quickly again and took her medical bag from Cedric as he held the door and bowed to her.
Bo laughed as Lauren rushed into her car and she watched as her escort followed. She sighed into her sleeve as she let go of her worry. She shouldn't be that way around Lauren, but she can't help it. Lauren is her entire world. The reason for her existence.
"Cedric? Were you aware of this picnic? Bo asked.
"No ma'am. Not until you mentioned it just now". Cedric replied.
"Then I want you to put everything you can think of as a dessert in it when you prepare it. I have a sweet tooth". Bo smiled as she looked at a picture of Lauren.
"Yes ma'am". Cedric bowed. The old chef didn't mind extra work. He usually left in the afternoon after preparing the Doctor's lunch and dropped it off at the clinic. This way he would be done a lot earlier.
Bo, Aife and Keldon.
Bo entered the house without knocking and immediately told them about the picnic. Keldon immediately assembled a group to watch over them.
"I know those are your people grandfather but after last night, I need them to be on point. Nothing gets done in Toronto without my knowledge. It's time I take control again and with a steady hand. They came too close to getting Lauren last night and it would drive me absolutely insane had they touched her". Bo rambled off.
"Isabeau sweetie, breathe. We got this. Grandfather and I were just making plans. He doesn't want any unrest, especially when it comes to Lauren. So, I will be in charge of getting everyone on the same page. Nobody will get her sweetie. You can do whatever you want, but I will handle all of the rest". Aife stepped forward.
"Tell me their names and what their skill sets are". Bo said.
"There are thousands of them". Keldon replied.
"I have a couple of hours before I need to shower and meet Lauren. Tell me their names". Bo sat and waited on her Grandfather.
Aife joined them with a large tablet made of paper. The trio talked and laughed as they settled in.
