"Thanks, I really appreciate you doing this for me." Lily said as she excited the room Konan shared with Pein. Konan had been healing Lily's ribs over the past week in sessions. This was to make sure she didn't have any adverse affects from an energy source from a completely different universe.
"It's the least I could do." She told her with a smile. "Have you noticed any unusual pain or symptoms?"
"Nope," Lily shook her head. "I'll let you know if I do."
"You should still see a doctor." Konan suggested. Lily laughed nervously and just scoot down the hall and down the steps leaving Konan standing awkwardly in the hall. Lily had escaped and bounced into the living area, happy to be in less pain than the day before. Every day was better. She slid on her flip flops and grabbed her keys and wallet.
"Where are you going?" Kakuzu asked from the couch.
"What's it to ya?" Lily asked, keeping her tone light.
"Jo paid me to keep an eye out." He said as he looked over his shoulder to her. "People coming and going included."
"Jeeze," Lily sighed and put her hand on her hip, "how much she pay you?"
"None fo your business unless you want to pay double." He told her. There was no hostility between the two of them. It was just business. Lily narrowed her eyes and thought for a minute, did she really want to pay him? It's not like it was a secret.
"Ok, fine." Lily said. "I'm running over to campus and then I'm meeting a few people for possible jobs."
"Oh, is that going to be too much for you?" Hana asked, coming in from the kitchen. "You have a full semester. Will you have time to work?"
"I'm actually dropping out." Lily announced proudly. "I have to go to campus to get my refund." Hanna stared at her, wide eyed and shocked.
"Why? I thought you liked school. You were doing so well!" Hanna said sadly.
"I've kinda lost interest. I dont think it's what I want to do, so I'm taking a break." Lily explained. "Besides, we've kinda got our hands full and we would use the extra cash. I figure I can go back to dancing, but do it right this time. Treat it like the job it is." Hanna listened as Lily explained her stance. Money was tight and she made some good points.
"If you think it's what is best, I'll support you." Hanna said with a smile. Lily smiled back. "But you're telling Jo." Lily lost her smile and slumped her shoulders with a pout.
"Fine," She said as she left, closing the door behind her.
"Shouldn't someone go with her?" Deidara asked, coming up behind Hana.
"Oh yeah." She agreed. "Can you get one of the guys on duty to go?" And with that, Deidara nodded and disappeared.
Lily sat in her car, closed the door, and turned the key. She turned on the radio and backed out of the driveway. She made it halfway down the street before a voice from the back seat spoke up.
"Where are we going?" Zetsu asked and Lily shrieked and swerved the car, almost taking out her neighbor's mailbox.
"What the hell?!" She shouted as she looked into her back seat. She pulled over and looked at him. "What are you doing here?"
"I was told to go with you." His white side said. "It's a stupid new rule they made." His darker side added.
"Since when?" She asked.
"You were passed out." His lighter side said. Lily slapped her palm on her forehead and groaned. "Give us McDonald's." His darker side demanded.
"Fine." She grumbled and kept driving.
Jo felt someone nudging her and she grunted, swatting them away. Someone nudged her again and she just did the same thing. It wasn't until the person yanked the blanket off of her she looked to see who it was.
"What?" She grumbled. "It's Sunday, buzz off."
"Get up." Hidan told her as he stood over her in nothing but dark jeans. She rolled over and pulled the blanket back over her. Hidan rolled his eyes and yanked it off again. "I'm not dealing with your ass. Get up, it's almost dinner."
"Kakuzu sent you." She grumbled and cursed.
"Fat fucking chance." Hidan laughed loudly. "I just need someone to keep that dipshit Tobi out of my hair." She peered up at him with a smirk.
"Did you just say you need me?" She teased. Hidan stepped back, flushed and waving his hands.
"Fuck that! I just need someone to keep him busy." He argued and then looked irritated. "Just because I screw your brains out doesn't mean I like you! Get that shit outta your head." Jo just smirked and propped herself on all fours before reaching out to his jeans.
"Oh really?" She said darkly as she slowly pulled him closer to her. There was something feral in her eyes and Hidan couldn't do anything but go along with it, not that he really tried to fight it. Unfortunately for the two of them, a small explosion sounded and the sound of shattered ceramic followed. Jo sighed and got up. She was sleeping in a white tee shirt and underwear. She pulled on faded jeans. "So much for resting." She swatted Hidan's ass. "I'll catch you later, big boy." She purred teasingly and reached for the door. He grabbed her by the hips and roughly pulled her back, lowering down to her ear. "If I don't catch you first." He threatened. Jo marched out before he could see her blush.
"Put it out!" Hanna shouted as she waved the smoke away from her face. She dove for the cabinets under the sink, looking for the fire extinguisher. "What happened? What did you put in it?"
"I don't know!" Deidara shouted as he ran a pot under the sink, getting water. "I just put what you gave me in there!" he explained as he turned away from the sink and started splashing water on the fire that had spread to the cabinets.
"Did you take off the lid?" She shouted and slammed her hand on the floor. "Where the hell is the extinguisher? Kisame!" She shouted.
"Deidara, move!" Konan shouted. Deidara stepped out of the way and the foam of the extinguisher sprayed over some of the fire. The fire alarm began to shriek.
"Why is it just now going off?" Hana shouted, frustrated. Deidara was filling up the pot of water again.
"What the hell is happening?" Jo shouted as she rushed in. She was met by a few other housemates.
"Microwave fire." Hanna said as she popped her head out the back door. "Kisame! We need your help!" She shouted up to the roof where he and Itachi sat on watch. He jumped and landed next to her, following her into the kitchen.
"What's wrong-woah!" He exclaimed. "What the hell happened here?" He asked.
"That's what I'm asking!" Jo shouted as she grabbed the extendable nozzle from the sink and turned it on, hosing down more of the fire.
"What do you need me to do?" He asked Hanna, hurriedly, eager to help.
"Can't you like jutsu it away?" She asked, pleadingly.
"I mean it might flood your kitchen." He said sheepishly.
"It's better than letting it burn to the ground!" Hanna begged.
"I think we've mostly got it by now." Jo told her. "But we need to get rid of the smoke." She said. The smoke was making the room foggy. Kisame opened up the back door and Hanna opened the window over the sink. The group tried fanning out the room and slowly but surely, the smoke dissipated. "What happened?" Jo asked, taking a look at the extent of the damage.
"I put something in the microwave." Deidara explained sheepishly. "Sorry."
"I didn't warn you about the lid." Hanna reassured him. "That's on me." They all looked at the kitchen. The ceiling was blackened and the cabinets and microwave were destroyed.
"This is gonna be expensive to fix." Jo said matter of factly with her hands on her hips. "First, we need dinner. I guess we can just order take out."
"What are we gonna do about the kitchen, yeah?" Deidara asked, nudging some of the debris with his foot.
"You'll have to help clean up the mess you made, brat." Sasori said from the doorway.
"I can borrow some stuff from work." Hanna said, looking around the room. "Some of the guys here can help me get it back in order." She said and turned to Jo with a confident smile. "Don't worry about a thing. I'll have it fixed in a week." Kisame looked at her, impressed with her confidence as she gave a thumbs up.
"All right." Jo said with a shrug. "I leave it to you then. I'll order food." She said and made to leave. "Have you seen Lily?"
"She's downstairs." Konan answered.
"Doing what?" Jo asked and left to go investigate.
"Thanks for your help, by the way." Hanna said to Deidara, Konan, and Kisame.
"Don't sweat it." Kisame said as the other two nodded. "I gotta get back up there."
"Alright." Hanna said quietly as he left. She twirled around to see Konan had left and Deidara was looking at the debris, a crushed look on his face. Hanna furrowed her eyebrows and walked over, elbowing him gently. "What's on your mind?" She asked quietly.
"Nothing, don't worry about it, yeah." He told her but she wasn't convinced. "Let me know what you need, yeah. I'll help clean this up." He said.
"Well, for now, do you want to help me pick up some of the trash? I'll empty out the cupboards and toss the stuff that's ruined." She offered. He winced but nodded. "Don't sweat it Deidara. These things happen more often than you think."
"What happened?" Itatchi asked as Kisame returned to his post.
"Kitchen fire, everyone's ok." Kisame gave him the run down.
"Are you going to help her?" Itachi asked after taking in all the information.
"Of course!" He insisted. Itachi only nodded.
"Congratulations, by the way." Itachi told him and Kisame just looked at him confused. "I'm surprised it took you two so long." He said with a small smile as Kisame turned and embarassing shade of purple. He sputtered and tripped over his words and Itachi just sat there, smiling softly to himself.
