A/N: Heya guys, gals and everything in between. I hope you all are doing good today. I don't have much to say in this time around aside from, sorry about a little bit of a short chapter. Haven't been feeling the best, mentally, recently. So I apologise for any inconvenience! Anyway, I'm just gonna go through a new review, and then we'll get right to the story!

I feel like a lot of people would love to see them in this story more, especially if it's written by a great writer like you. I feel like it would add a lot to the story imo. Humphrey's POV

"Damn, this game is boring," I said, as I pressed Alt and F4 on my keyboard and slouching back in my desk chair.

"Yeah, that's because you've played it like twenty times over," Charlotte said, chuckling a little bit. She happened to be laying on a beanbag in my room on her phone.

"Yeah you're right," I said, sighing, "You heard much from anyone today?"

"No, not really. It's been pretty quiet today," She said, tapping at her phone. I assume she was just playing a game or something.

"What about Liam? He's usually blasting my phone with memes," I said, pulling up my phone to see no notifications.

"Yeah I haven't heard much from him," She said, turning off her phone and sitting it down next to her on the beanbag, "I think he only posted to the group-chat asking if we were still free for tomorrow."

"Didn't he also say he was heading to Banff? It's a long-ass drive," I said, setting my phone down and scrolling through my Steam Library.

"Yeah he did. Hopefully he makes it back safely," She said. She looked like she was about to get up from the beanbag, but gave up mid-way through her attempt, just sitting back down.

After a long scroll through Steam, I found nothing that piqued my interest. Everything I saw just seemed to bore me, so I just ended up clicking off of it and going onto Spotify. I didn't have my own playlist, so I always just used Salty's ones. I clicked on a random on and the song 'Better,' by Khalid started playing through the speakers on my desk. It's a pretty good song to be honest.

"Ooo I like this song," Charlotte said, starting to shuffle around in the beanbag. It looked like she was trying to dance, but instead it just looked really funny. I laugh a little bit at her attempts and she looked at me confused, "What's so funny?"

"You look so dumb doing that," I said, laughing more. She just crossed her arms and pretended to act upset, causing me to chuckle, "I might see what Kate is up to," I said going onto discord and opening our private messages.

"Yeah you talk to your girlfriend," She said, pulling her phone back up.

"She's not my girlfriend," I said, feeling my face go warm. I quickly typed a message out

"I'll have to call bullshit there. I've seen the way you to talk to each other and how you act around each other," She said, not looking up from her phone.

"We aren't together. Neither of us have asked or even hinted to it yet, especially after that failure of a date," I said, covering my face with my hands. I felt arms wrap around my stomach and a head rest on my shoulder.

"That date wasn't a failure," Charlotte said, right next to my ear as I took my hands off my face, seeing our reflections in my desktop screen, "Garth just does what he usually does and caused problems."

"I know, but part of me just tells me it could've been avoided," I said, staring at my reflection.

"Well even if it could, Garth was the one in the wrong. You were just defending yourself," She said in a comforting manner.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I said, putting my hands on the keyboard and typing out a message to Kate's discord.

"I'll leave you two be. Don't go sexting now," Charlotte said jokingly, letting go of me and leaving my room, taking my beanbag with her.

"Oi, give my beanbag back," I said, as she left, to which she poked her tongue at me and shut the door behind her, now in possession of my precious beanbag. 'Looks like I'm never getting that back,' I thought to myself, shaking my head and chuckling.

After saying that, I immediately got a call from Kate, to which I answered.

"Do you have the Epic Games Launcher?" She asked me as soon as I connected to the call.

"Yes I do. I take you want me to download it?" I asked, opening the launcher.

"No I want you to put your mouse up your ass," She said, causing us both to laugh.

"Well that just sounds like an average evening to me," I said (jokingly, obviously), creating more laughter between the two of us.

"I really don't doubt that," She said, our laughter eventually dying off into smiles.

"Now give me a few minutes while this game downloads, otherwise we won't be playing anything," I said, chuckling.

"Okie dokie," she replied. The next five to ten minutes resulted in Kate and I's usual fun, calming and overall great conversations. Just about every second spent with Kate was time well spent. I couldn't help but crack a smile around her. We just have that perfect chemistry, and I think she really is the one for me. No, she is the one for me. I've known her for so long, and we've been such close friends for so long. It's almost like we've both surpassed the friend-zone, but we haven't quite reached the end result yet. What am I going on about? She would never like me like that. Why would someone as gorgeous, smart and so well known like someone like me? 'You almost kissed her at the hospital though,' a thought piped up, 'I say you almost did, but she was the one leaning in...' Does she like me?!

Kate's POV

Talking to Humphrey is always so comfortable. I never feel out of place when he's around. He's just so caring. He would defend just about anyone if the opportunity presented itself. His looks just add onto it all. It's so easy to get lost in his eyes... his gorgeous, icy blue eyes... I will never be able to wrap my head around how lucky I am to have him in my life, and we aren't even together!

"So how good is this 'Dauntless' game you speak of?" He asked over the discord call.

"Oh it's really fun. RPG-like, kill monsters and stuff to get gear. A little bit of a grind and can be a little repetitive, but I enjoy games like that," I replied.

"Oh nice. I like role-play games so this will hopefully be fun," He said. Out of nowhere, I heard a slight yelp of excitement come from him, "Ooo yay it finished downloading. Time to see how good this game is."

Time Skip – Two hours

"FINALLY!" Humphrey shouted as he killed a Behemoth; a Lesser Quillshot. I giggled at his reaction.

"Y'know, I killed the same one in like three quarters of the time it took you when I fought it," I said, "And I even had only +1 gear. You've got +2 all over."

"Shuddup woman," He said, causing me to release more giggles into the wild. I heard a door creak open on Humphrey's side of the call, then hearing his desk chair squeak around, "Hey Charlotte, what's up... why are you crying?" I heard him ask. I immediately felt a wave of fear come over me. Charlotte never just cries.

"Uhm... uh..." I heard a quiet voice say, "We n-need to go t-to the h-hospital..."

"W-why what's wrong?" I heard Humphrey whimper out.

"It... it's..." I heard her say before hearing her start aggressively crying and hearing what sounded like a thump on the floor.

"Charlotte, what is it?" I heard Humphrey say as I heard footsteps, assuming Humphrey had jumped down to her side.

"It... it's L-Liam..." I heard her say weakly, with a loud sniffle, "H-he was in a c-car accident..."

"Wait what?! When did you get told?!" I heard Humphrey say, worry in his voice.

"I got sob a call sniffle from what I-I th-thought was L-Liam, b-but w-when I answered h-his b-brother w-was t-talking. H-he told m-me..." She managed to get out, "H-he's in-n a-a-a-a coma..." I heard her say before hearing start crying more. My hand was covering my mouth in shock and my eyes were as wide as the sun.

"I'm sorry, Kate," I heard Humphrey say, stammering on his words and hesitating, "I've gotta go. I'll see you later." I couldn't say anything before he ended the call. I couldn't move at all. I was stuck in a frozen state...
