Katelyn opened the door to the apartment the next morning and smiled a little seeing Roman standing there. "What are you doing here so early? Not that I mind but..."
"I was hoping you and Milly were free to spend the day with me."
"We are." She smiled and let him in. "So what did you have in mind?"
"The petting zoo and lunch? Maybe dinner afterward, so we could talk?"
"That sounds like a great idea." She smiled and got Milly ready to go. They headed out. They arrived at the petting zoo.
"Oh, I didn't realize she might be too young for this." He said as she got Milly out of the car.
She smiled. "It's fine. I think she will like it even if she is only two months old."
He smiled at her. "Maybe next time we go to the park or on a picnic?"
"I think that is a great idea." She replied. "I'm really happy that you want to spend time with us."
"Well, she is my daughter too and truth is, you've been on my mind since the night we made her. This will give us a chance to get to know each other better. Right off the bat, I want you to know that if you need anything, either one of you, I'll make sure you get it."
She couldn't help but smile. "I appreciate that." She replied. "I want us to get to know each other better too." He smiled. She looked at him "Well, let's enjoy the zoo." He nodded and they headed through the gates and around the area looking at the animals.
"I think she had fun."
"I think so too," Katelyn replied as she put a sleeping Milly down in the pack n play.
"It was a great day." He looked at her. "So, what are your plans?"
"Well, Milly and I will stay here with my parents until I find an apartment. John gets our place in the divorce. So, Milly and I need our own place. Not that we can't stay here. My parents wouldn't mind. But I think Milly and I need our own place."
"Move in with me."
She looked at him. "Did you move out of the frat house? Because last I knew you lived there."
He smiled. "I moved out a few months back. It was just time. I have a two-bedroom apartment off-campus. So, you and Milly can move in with me."
She thought for a minute. "Well, it would make sense so you can get to know me and spend time with us. Okay, we will move in."
He smiled. "Good. I'm going to kiss you now." She couldn't help but smile as he leaned in and kiss her. She deepened the kiss. She pulled away just as Milly started crying.
"We better stop." She said softly. "I need to see to her."
"Let me do it." She nodded as he got up and walked over to the pack n play and picked up Milly. He rocked her gently and she calmed down.
"You're good with her."
"I come from a big family."
She smiled. "That's nice." She replied. "It's always only been me and my brother. My parents never really took us to see their family."
"You can come to the family reunion this weekend and meet them. And they can meet this sweet little princess."
She looked at him. "You want us to meet your family." He nodded. "Do they know how all of this came to be?"
"Yeah, they know. And my mom doesn't care. She's just excited to meet her grandbaby."
"Alright. We will come and meet your family."
He smiled. "Great. Then we will leave Saturday morning. It's only a two-hour drive."
"Alright. I will make sure we are ready to go."
"And I have some friends who will help you move."
"Okay." She replied. "We don't really have too much. Most of it is Milly's."
He smiled. "And Daddy will spoil you so you'll have so much more."
"I'm sure she will love all of that but most of all she will love the time you spend with her." He smiled. She smiled back. "So, when do you want us to move in?"
"How about I get my friends to move you tomorrow? They don't have any classes."
"Alright." She replied. "Tomorrow it is."
He smiled. "Good." She nodded in agreement. "Well, I better go and get things ready." He said getting up and kissing Milly on the head. He kissed Katelyn on the cheek and headed out.
"You two are getting close." She heard after Roman had left. She looked up to see her brother there.
"He is Milly's father."
"Is that all it is?" He asked sitting down by her and Milly.
"What else could it be?"
"C'mon Katelyn. You know you're starting to feel something for him other than him being the father of my sweet niece. He's a nice guy who stepped up when that douche didn't. Hell, if I was into guys..."
"Don't finish that statement." She said laughing.
"I said if." He laughed. "Katelyn, you know I'm right. You are starting to feel something for him aren't you?"
She sighed. "I think I am." She replied.
"Then explore it. See where it goes."
"Well, I'll have plenty of time to do that when Milly and I move in with him."
"I'm sorry, you're moving in with him?"
"Yes, we are." She replied. She looked at her brother. "Roman wants to get to know me and Milly. And I need a place to live."
"I'm not judging. No judgment. You didn't judge when Alexa and I started dating."
"No, I didn't." She replied. "I don't know what's going to happen with me and Roman. But I want to find out. And living together just makes the most sense."
"You know you have my support."
"Thanks." She laughed. "Remember that if mom and dad are against this. I will need someone on my side."
"Mom knows about him. She found out somehow. Probably John. And she doesn't care. Dad hasn't found out yet, He's out of town. But you have me and Mom and your friends. And now it would appear you have Roman too."
"Yeah, I do." She replied. "I hope dad understands that John cheated on me and that's why we are getting a divorce."
"He does understand that. Part of the reason he's away. So he doesn't kill John."
She nodded. "I still can't believe all of this. I thought John and I were perfect. But I was so wrong. But I plan to see where this goes with Roman. I just don't want to be hurt again."
"You have to put yourself out there."
"I am. Roman and I are getting closer and who knows where it could go."
"Then see where it goes."
"I plan to. Now, I need to see what I need to pack. And then make sure John is not home when I get the stuff Milly and I have there."
"Your stuff is already being packed. Mike, Cody, Adam, Ted, and Randy are getting it for you."
She looked at her brother. "Did you set that up? And if you did, thank you."
"Ryleigh did actually. But she did ask me about it."
"Well, I appreciate the help. The less I have to deal with my soon to be ex the better."
"Now just relax for a while."
She nodded. "I think Milly and I are going to go upstairs." She picked up her daughter and headed up to her room. She was nervous about moving in with Roman but she knew it was the right thing for her and Milly. She was ready to put John and their marriage and relationship behind her. And move on with her life.
