A/N: I made a promise to my readers that I would warn ahead of time if the story took a dive into the darkness. This story is rated M for a reason. This is not intended for kids. You have been warned.
Elsa laid in the bed and scooted to feel the warmth of her Northuldran, sighing as the woodsy earthy smell invaded her nose. "You smell good." Elsa groggily said as Maren lightly chuckled. Maren protectively wrapped her arm around the winter spirit, kissing the top of her head. "Sleep well, my love." Elsa smiled, "I don't deserve you." She whispered as her world fell away. Maren pulled her closer letting the lull of sleep pull her away without noticing the shadowy figure quietly move from behind the changing screen.
Elsa's magic pulsed throughout her body causing Elsa to rollover. I feel like someone is watching me. Elsa felt pressure against her body and her eyes widened; she looked around in the dark trying to slow her rapid breaths when she breathed in the familiar smell of her girlfriend. I'm okay. He's locked up in the dungeon. She reminded herself as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She looked down to see Maren still sleeping soundly in the soft moonlight. She reached over and lightly traced the softened features of Maren's face with her fingers. The Northuldran extended her arm, pulling her back towards her. "Everything okay?" Maren sleepily whispered. "Yes, I just had a bad dream." She quietly replied. "What about?" Maren said as she opened her eyes to look at the crying blonde in the dull light. "My first night with Iver. The things he did to me. The things he made me do to him." She replied in shame. Maren's eyes softened as she pulled Elsa close watching as she tensed. She frowned and let her grip loosen. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to push you." Maren sadly said as Elsa rolled onto her side to look at her. "It's not that I don't want you to comfort me. It's that for the last several days all my body knows is pain and stress." Elsa stared into warm chocolate eyes. She gently wiped the tears from Marens' eyes. "I meant it when I said I love you." Elsa whispered as she leaned forward and pressed her lips firmly against Marens. Elsa slid her hands onto the side of her face as she deepened the kiss. Maren melted as she let Elsa take control. I don't want to do something that will ruin this moment. Maren thought as she heavily breathed when Elsa pulled back and snuggled into her. "I've missed this." She smiled as she felt Marens heart hammering in her chest. Maren smiled as she pushed her fingers into Elsa's silky white blonde hair earning a pleased sigh from her lover as Elsa's eyes fluttered close. "That feels amazing." She mumbled as her body relaxed. Maren leaned forward and lightly kissed Elsa's forehead. Her fingers slowed as fell back asleep. The figure in the corner of the room pulled the door open looking back towards the bed at the sleeping Queen and her lover with a glare and slipped out of the door unnoticed.
Elsa woke up a few hours later to the sun starting to come up. She quietly climbed out of bed and went out to the balcony to look over the fjord. How am I going to move on from this? She thought as she leaned on the railing smiling when Gale circled around her. Mistress, I'm glad to see you up and looking better. Have you talked with your Northuldran about it yet? The wind spirit rang in her head. "I'm working on coming to terms with everything first." She quietly replied. I didn't anticipate making it out of the announcement alive. Gale circled her again. Mistress, you've endured so much at the hand of the man, keeping it all in is not going to help you. Gale warned. "I'm fine Gale. Really." Elsa focused on her hands as they began to glow, her brow furrowed as she concentrated on her magic. "That's pretty." Maren sleepily stated as she pushed the balcony door closed. "It took a good deal of effort to make it though." Elsa frowned at the small snowflake. "You will get back to full strength in no time." Maren said as she leaned against the railing. "What do you want to do today?" She smiled as she looked at the winter spirit. Elsa took a deep breath, "I have to deal with the Iver situation." She replied as she looked out to see Nokk running the fjord. I miss our freedom. She thought as she played with the small piece of ice. "I overheard Mattias say that Anna intends on a trial." Maren said. Elsa looked at her with a blank stare, "There is much to discuss about the entire situation, and it is proper to reach out to his home country with notification of his crimes." She replied quietly. Maren placed her hand on Elsas', "It's truly up to what you want to do, sweet spirit." Elsa's brow furrowed, "It is, but I'm not ready to relive it." She whispered as a tear slid down her cheek. Maren pulled the winter spirit into an embrace, "I'll be here without judgement when you are ready." She whispered into Elsa's neck as her tears sped up. You won't be when you hear it all. She sadly thought as the sun pushed over the edge of the water.
The next four weeks went by with a blur. Elsa sent notification with Gale by letter to the Southern Isles much to her sisters' dislike, and received a reply within days. The trial was set for two weeks from the day as the king and queen of the Southern Isles requested to be present for the proceedings. Elsa sat in the dining hall, staring at her plate. These taste funny. She thought as she slid the pile of eggs from one side to the other on her plate. Anna and Maren were in a deep conversation about chocolates when Elsa stood to excuse herself. "You've barely eaten anything all week." Anna exclaimed as she looked at her sister's uneaten food. Elsa shrugged. "I think the eggs were off." She said as she walked towards the door. "That's what you said last night at dinner with the roast, Elsa, I know you're working through everything, but you still need to eat." She puffed as her sister simply walked out of the door. "What has gotten into her?" Anna looked at Maren as she shrugged. Mattias passed Elsa on the way into the dining hall and shivered. She looks mad. He cleared his throat, "The council has requested we finish outlining the witnesses needed for the trial." He stated as Anna stood and looked at Maren. "Will you try to get my stubborn sister to eat food, please?" Maren nodded as she walked towards the kitchen.
"Elsa?" Maren quietly called out as she closed the bedroom door with a bowl of porridge. She smiled when Elsa turned to look at her. "I'm really not…" She stopped mid sentence as the smell of fresh blueberries wafted through the room. She licked her lips as Maren handed her the bowl. "I thought this might taste better." She smiled, sitting on the bed next to her girlfriend who didn't hesitate to start devouring the bowl. "Does it taste good?" Maren asked with a giggle as Elsa nodded her head, "Almost as good as the kind we have at home." She said between bites. Elsa set the bowl down on the side table. She picked up a glass and poured water from a pitcher. "Thank you for breakfast." She smiled as her hand glowed, chilling the glass then gulped the water down. Elsa scooted back on the bed and leaned back. "I'm exhausted today." She said with a yawn. Maren crawled next to her on the bed, "Well why don't you take a nap then." She looked over and laughed as Elsa already had her eyes closed. Maren leaned over and lightly kissed Elsa who already started to lightly snore. She has been all over the place. She thought as she leaned over to grab the book she had from the library.
A few hours later, Elsa gasped awake causing Maren to drop the book from her hands. "Bad dream?" Maren asked as she looked at the winter spirit who appeared to be flushed. "No, it was a good dream." Elsa looked at Maren and swallowed thickly, "A really good dream." She grabbed Maren's shirt to pull her into a searing kiss. Maren was taken by surprise as Elsa lightly moaned when she continued to pull her onto her never breaking the kiss. Well this is unexpected. Maren thought as she shifted over her lover resting her hand on her side. Elsa's body arched into Maren as she began to lose herself in the moment. She pulled her hand over Maren's guiding it down between her thighs. Maren broke the kiss to catch her breath, pulling back to look into Elsa's hooded eyes. "Are you really okay with this?" Maren asked unsure of how to proceed. Elsa eagerly nodded her head, flicking her wrist down to melt her clothes away then grabbed her lovers hand closer to the apex of her thighs. "Please." Elsa was near begging as Maren's fingers ghosted over her folds causing Elsa's hips to buck forward in anticipation. Maren smiled and leaned forward to kiss Elsa slowly as she dipped her fingers into her lover's dripping wet center causing Elsa to moan as she began to rub circles around her bundle of nerves. Maren didn't stop kissing Elsa as she sped her fingers, smiling into the kiss as Elsa's small moans were turning into loud cries of passion. Elsa's began to tremble as she neared her climax grasping at Maren's shirt as she tried to ground herself. Maren felt the pull in her lower stomach as Elsa's head went back as her body arched off the bed screaming her release.
A/N: I'm so sorry this is a few hours late to post, but it took a bit to edit. I loved your reviews, and yes there are several unresolved issues, and I agree when she finally is triggered it's going to be catastrophic which is why I predicted this would be a fairly long fanfic. My nephews party is today, and I am up super late to crank this out for you guys, time for "a smoke" (not really but man this chapter made me want one) and some shut eye lol. I will see you all soon. :)
