Charizard- Fire Fighter

A grand mountain range lay sprawled out across the land, with stunning majesty of nature creating a gorgeous vista. Forests grew lush and green on either side of mountains, interrupted by only a few human roads, which were clearly sparsely used.

Above this stunning topography flew a Charizard, his wings pulled in as he dived down towards the mountains. He then pulled up and flapped his wings slow and hard to hold himself in a hover above the mountain range. He looked down, his head making slight movements as he studied the mountains below him pensively. Then he smiled when he spotted a cave on the side of one of the mountains.

Charizard dived down swiftly and came to a solid landing at the mouth of the cavern. He stretched his wing muscles out a bit as he entered the cave, his tail swinging loosely in a sign of contentment. After taking a few steps into the cave, the smile Charizard was wearing suddenly faded when he spotted something at the back of the cavern. It appeared to be a large stack of barrels and boxes.

Curious, Charizard stepped closer to wooden containers to get a closer look at them. Naturally, the cavern was dark, so to get a better look, Charizard breathed out a tiny flame from his mouth for light. This allowed him to make out the word "DYNAMITE" written in bold red letters on the side of one of boxes.

Charizard's eyes went wide, and he grunted out in fear as he stumbled backward, frantically swiping at the flame he was breathing out with his claws. He eventually flew flat on his back, and ended up slapping both claws over his mouth, extinguishing the flame. Charizard breathed out in relief, but then panic returned to him when he saw that his tail, and the flame at the end, was resting close to the pile of dynamite.

Charizard quickly grabbed his tail and pulled it in close to him, and then let out another relieved sigh, a few small sparks slipping out through his scaly lips. Suddenly, he noticed something else by the light of his tail flame. There was a long fuse trailing out from one the barrels of explosive, and it extended onward past Charizard and out of the cavern.

Charizard appeared concerned by this, and he carefully got up onto his feet and exited the cavern, following the fuse.

Eventually, Charizard found himself in a mid sized area of the forest that had been cleared by humans some time ago. The road leading out of it was old and unused, and all that was there were a few old tire tracks, and the end of the very long fuse.

Charizard stepped over to the end of the fuse, bending his neck to look down at it, visibly unsure of what to do. Suddenly, a slight breeze picked up, and a pink flower petal was suddenly blown over and into Charizard's left nostril. His eyes widened, his face and nose twitched violently, and he let out a sneeze.

Along with the ashes of the flower petal, flames shot out of Charizard's nose and mouth, and onto the fuse, lighting it instantly. Charizard stood gaping at the flame as it shot up the fuse at the swift pace and into the forest. Charizard was frozen solid for a moment, but then his body lurched up straight as he let up a horrified roar. Then he took off running after the flame.

Charizard tore through bushes and tall grass as he raced to catch up with the flame. Eventually, he managed to catch up with the flame, and then outpace it. Once he was far enough ahead, he skidded to a halt and turned around, planting his feet firmly on either side of the fuse. He then bent over and positioned his head so that it was perfectly in line with the approaching flame.

When the flame got close enough, Charizard took a deep breath, and blowed out through his lips. More flames joined the burning fuse, resulting in a higher flame that raced down the fuse even faster. After the flame passed, Charizard was left with his face blackened with soot, along with a black soot mark straight down the center of his chest.

Charizard blinked once, then he face palmed hard with his right claw. He also used this oppurtuniry to wipe the soot from his face with said claw, while simultaneously dusting off his chest with his left claw. Then he swiftly turned around and ran after the fuse.

As Charizard had trouble keeping up with the new, stronger flame, he failed to pay attention to the ground and ended up tripping over a large rock embedded in the ground. Charizard fell forward onto a rather steep incline, causing him to bounce slightly after landing on his head. Charizard saw stars as his tongue hung out of his mouth, and he flipped over in mid air before landing on his stomach. He bounced off of it, his arms, legs, and tails flailing about as he continued to roll and bounce down the steep hill, finally landing flat on his back.

He lay there in daze for a moment, but then the gravity of the current situation caught up to him, and he swiftly pushed himself up and took off with a pump of his wings. He shot up into the air and scanned the ground before him. He could spot the fuse burning along one of the old human trails, and he quickly shot down to it and flew alongside it.

Charizard's eyes darted around nervously as he searched for something he could use, until he seemed to notice his wings for the first time. He let himself smile a bit, and he pumped his wings so that he was flying ahead of the fuse. Then he turned and started hovering backwards as he flapped his wings hard, directing them towards the flame in an attempt to blow it out.

Panic began to set in again as Charizard saw that the air he was moving was merely fanning the flames, making them higher and faster.

Still hovering backwards, Charizard shook his head in distress as he beheld the flames. Suddenly, the back of his head struck a low tree branch, and he went down hard, landing flat on his stomach. He lay there for a while, knocked senseless for a bit. Eventually, he slowly raised his head, blinking his bleary eyes. Then he gasped as he regained his senses, his mind racing and his eyes darting around. Then he picked up the tinkling sound of running water.

Charizard's eyes lit up, and he scrambled on all fours towards the sound. He tore through a bush and spotted a stream of clean water. Not wasting any time, Charizrd took a deep breath and opened his mouth wide. Then he stuck his head into the water and held as much of it as he could in his mouth. With jaws clamped shut and cheek bulging, Charizard took the air and searched for the burning fuse.

Charizard frantically looked about, unable to catch the sight of any flames or even smoke for an agonising few minutes. Eventually, Charizard made his way back to the cave, and he finally spotted the approaching flame that was still burning at a timely pace up the fuse.

Charizard landed solidly at the entrance to the cave, right beside the fuse. Planting his feet firmly, Charizard waited for the flame to approach. The, he leaned forward and spat out the water in his mouth at the flame. There was a loud hiss as a plume of steam came from his maw, which the flame passed through effortlessly.

Charizard slowly turned to see the flames move into the cave along the fuse, and his face became all the more panic stricken as he began flapping his wings and hopping from foot to foot due to the intense nervous energy coursing through him. Then, he paused mid hop as realization struck him. He looked down at his raised right foot for a moment, then he charged into the cavern as fast as he could.

There was only a few feet left of the fuse, and Charizard stood between the flame and the pile of dynamite. Getting into position, Charizard gathered up his nerve and slowly raised his right foot as high as he could. Then, right when the flame was close enough, Charizard brought his foot down hard onto the flame, making sure to push down with all his might and grind it into the cave floor as hard as he could.
After giving his foot a few twists for good measure, Charizard slowly stepped off and took a look at the end of the fuse. The flames were gone, and after lowering his head close to it to get a closer look, Charizard could confirm that the fuse was indeed put out.

Filled with euphoric relief, Charizard let out a sigh, which sent a few sparks out of his mouth and onto the fuse, promptly relighting it. Charizard cried out in fear again, and he began wildly stomping on the fuse with both feet, then hopped back away from it as he panted heavily. He stared at the now extinguished fuse for at least a solid minute, then nodded carefully with a tired look on his face, as he was now both physically and emotionally exhausted. Charizard then turned to exit the cave.

However, as he turned, Charizard's tail whipped around, and the flame at the end of it slid against the fuse, relighting it once again. Charizard hadn't taken three steps before he was made to pause by a strange hissing sound that echoed throughout the cavern. Charizard was unable to pin point the location of the sound, and thus had a confused look about him. He looked to his left and right, and then finally turned around to see the fuse just seconds away from reaching the explosives.

Charizard's eyes were fixed upon the fuse as he audibly gulped.

BOOOOOOM!

The massive explosion blasted Charizard out of the cavern, along with a mass of debris. Charizard was roaring out in fear as he was thrown upward in a staggering high arc before tumbling down to earth in a path of descent that got steeper and steeper. With his eyes shut and his ears ringing, Charizard flailed about in midair as he was sent a far distance from where he started. Then, by sheer luck, Charizard hit a slightly inclined area of ground, which reduced his impact ever so slightly so that rather that smack into the ground with enough force to make a small crater, Charizard rebounded and tumbled forward at an angle, eventually hitting the ground again and sliding forward, leaving a long skid mark in his wake due to his tough lizard skin.

Charizard lay panting on the ground, eyes still closed with his snout dug into the dirt. When he finally opened his eyes, Charizard saw what had to be the last thing he would have ever expected to see. He had landed not two yards away from a large hot spring, and in that hot spring was a female Charizard. The female was staring at him with the utmost shock and surprise, scarcely believing his bizarre entrance.

Meanwhile, Charizard was still rather stunned by his entire ordeal, but nevertheless was taken by how pretty the female Charizard was. Then, something struck him on the head and bounced to the ground in front of him. Much to his further surprise, it turned out to be a sparkling clear diamond the size of a golf ball. Then, and much to the amazement of both Charizards, more much smaller yet still beautiful diamonds began raining from the sky. These jewels, buried within the mountains and freed by the massive explosion, were following Charizard's path and landing in the area he'd ended up in.

As the tiny gems sparkled and splashed down into the hot spring she was sitting in, the female Charizard held out a claw in amazement. Another golf ball sized diamond landed in her open palm, and she gasped in amazement, smiling gleefully as she beheld the marvelous sight unfolding around her.

Charizard thought quickly, and he pulled his snout out of the ground, stood up, and briefly dusted himself off. Then he stood before the female and folded his arms proudly, smiling confidently amidst the diamond rain.

The female let out a sweet laugh, beckoning him over with her free claw.
