Kagome skidded to a halt.

This wasn't good.

Sweat beaded her brow as she took in the newcomer's appearance. He was going to be a tough opponent to beat. He practically towered over her and his mouth was elongated much like a bird's beak. Razor sharp teeth were exposed even when his lips were shut. Brain matter protruded out of the top of his head.

Was this thing even human?

A giant palm shot towards her.

"Higurashi!" Aizawa called out to her.

She tucked beneath its hand.

"I won't be that easy to catch!" The young woman dove forward. She slapped her palm against its abdomen. "Seal!"

Shards burst forth. A large slab of glass-like crystals encased the beast's body. Its shoulders juttered from left to right violently—trying to shake itself free from her hold.

"He's down!" Kagome jumped back in a single leap. She wouldn't be able to use her shatter technique on this guy. She only had a license to fight, not to maim. Dabi was right about the fact that she needed to have better situational awareness during battles like these. She couldn't risk losing herself in the heat of the moment.

Her gaze swiveled towards the white-haired man still standing motionlessly at the center of the action.

He was their leader.

She could just feel it.

The way his scarlet gaze surveyed all the chaos around them and the intensity he had when he looked at her was a dead giveaway.

"Nomu," His voice carried over the sounds of battle. "Break free from it."

Kagome blinked.

Break free?

Oh no!

She doubled back. The beast gave a mighty cry as the large slab began to fissure and burst apart.

In that one second, all she could feel was horror.

Just how powerful was this beast? Not even Dabi's flames could melt them that easily. So what sort of brute strength did it possess in order to be able to shatter her shards so quickly?

Kagome sank into an offensive position.

It didn't matter. She'd have to fight him regardless.

A smirk pulled at the corner of her lips, "Looks like we'll get to have a little fun."

Maybe she could use her shatter technique after all.
