It had taken everyone by surprise when Inuyasha took off. By the time they had gotten on Kirara and Ah-Un, Inuyasha was long gone. Luckily Kagome felt the presents of jewel shards, and seeing as they were the same direction Inuyasha went, she could only assume Sesshomaru and the shards were in the same place. They had flown for hours, even after the sun had set. Kirara and Ah-Un were tired, but still pressed on. That's when she saw them, far off into the distance, surges of yokai. It had to be the Windscar. Kagome ushered Kirara to go faster, as more and more yokai surged into the distance. Then she felt it, the jewel shards. A particularly strong Windscar tore through the air, the power of the jewels aided it, she could tell. Then the night sky was silent. They closed in on the battle field, and Kagome saw them, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, standing together. They were ok! Kagome was delighted! But her smile fell as the two came closer together, what were they doing. Kirara landed in the destroyed clearing and Kagome hopped off, looking at the two oblivious demons. It hit, like bricks crashing down on her. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, were kissing. Kagome heard someone say her name, but she ignored it, instead she walked closer to the two, unable to pull her watering eyes away.
"I-Inuyasha?"
The two demons pulled away in shock, and stared right back at her.
"Kagome..."
Tears welled up in Kagomes eyes.
"Inuyasha how could you!? What are you even doing? He's your brother!"
"Kagome, they're demons, its not uncommon for demon siblings to-" Kagome heard Mirokus voice behind her.
"No! They're brothers! That's disgusting!"
With that Kagome stormed off into the forest, leaving everyone behind. Inuyasha sighed and turned to his brother.
"Sesshomaru, I better go get her, I'll need to explain..."
"No Inuyasha, it's alright, I'll go do it." Miroku said as he approached the two demons. "She's quite mad at you two at the moment, she would be more likely to listen to me."
Inuyasha nodded at Miroku.
"Thanks Miroku, I appreciate it."
"You know, I expected as much, the way you two have been going off together. I just wish we would of been able to explain to Kagome, and not have her find out like this."
Inuyasha ears flattened against his head as Miroku turned and left. His shifted his eyes to the rest of his pack, Sango stared at him with a sad, but knowing gaze, and Shippo looked completely lost. Then he saw a small head peek from behind Sangos leg.
"Sesshomaru-Sama?"
At her voice Sesshomaru couldn't help but smile.
"Rin."
"Sessshomaru-Sama!"
Rin bolted from behind Sango and came rushing towards him, Jaken right on her heels. Sesshomaru knelt down as his little girl approached him and he held out his arms. She crashed into him with the biggest hug hes ever received, and he hugged her back.
"Oh Sesshomaru-Sama! I'm so glad your alright!" Sesshomaru heard Jaken sound beside him. "I thought for sure you were dead! I've never cried so hard for you Milord!"
Sesshomaru felt his eye twitch, and he raised his hand up to hit the little Imp. Jaken eeped and covered his head, and Sessomaru sighed, lowering his fist.
"I...missed you too Jaken."
Tears welled up in Jakens eyes, and he began to bawl thing like not deserving such kindness, how he'll always be his faithful servant, and what not. Inuyasha just rolled his eyes, at the Imp, as he watched Sesshomaru and Rin embrace. Sesshomaru must have missed Rin, just as much as she missed him. His eyes wondered off to the woods, in the direction that Kagome had stormed off too. He never meant to hurt her like this.
"Kagome, wait!"
Kagome ignored Miroku as she continued to storm off.
"Listen please, I know your angry at Inuyasha-"
Angry? No, she wasn't angry. She was hurt. How could Inuyasha do this to her. She thought he loved her, or at least cared about her in that way.
"Kagomeee!"
Miroku rushed in front of her, and grabbed her by the shoulders, stopping her in her tracks.
"I don't want to hear it!"
"Kagome please, you have to at least understand what's going on."
"Oh I understand all right, Inuyasha would rather be with anyone other than me, including his brother! I thought they hated each other!"
"That's not it at all, Kagome. Please you are being rather selfish don't you think?"
"Oh IM being selfish!? Ok then Miroku, PLEASE explain how I'm the selfish one, and how kissing your own brother is ok!"
Miroku sighed and thought of how best to explain.
"Kagome, you must understand, coupling among your siblings is not a rare occurrence among demons, especially among Inuyokai."
Kagome just frowned, and Miroku continued.
"Inuyokai are very pack oriented, they need to be with other Inuyokai to feel whole. I suspect that after Sesshomaru lost his demonic powers, and Inuyasha merged our packs together, that the two felt a connection that they have been missing. They feel whole together. It has nothing to do with you, Kagome. It has everything to do with how they feel together."
Kagome listened to Miroku, but she just didn't understand most of what he was saying. She maybe understood enough to know that Inuyasha needed another dog demon to feel like he was, whole? Kagome sighed. She just didn't understand.
"Why didn't he just tell me then?"
"Kagome, I don't think he knows himself. But regardless of that fact, shouldn't his happiness be important?"
Yes, of course she wants Inuyasha to be happy, but.
"But what about my happiness?"
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru sat in the clearing together, as they waited for the two to return. Shippo was sitting on Inuyashas shoulder, asking questions he was to young to be asking. Rin was in Sesshomarus lap, chatting up a storm as she always does. Jaken sat with Ah-Un next to them, and Sango sat a few feet away with Kirara. Inuyashas ears perked up as Kagome and Miroku came into view emerging from the forest.
"Kagomee! Your back!"
Shippo hopped off of Inuyashas shoulder and bounded over to climb on Kagomes shoulder.
"I still have no idea why you were so upset, but Inuyasha said he feel bad, so everything is ok now right?"
Shippos innocent eyes stared up at Kagome, who simply scowled at the Inu. She noticed how close the two were sitting, and shot them an icy glare, before dramatically turning her head away.
"Yes Shippo, everything is absolutely fine now." Kagome huffed.
Inuyasha ears flattened as Kagome walked towards them, and he stood.
"Kagome we need to talk-"
"No we don't, Miroku explained enough to me to know who you've picked."
"I at least want to explain myself to you Kagome, I owe you that much."
"Nope! It all good over here now."
"Would you stop being so stubborn! You act like such a child sometimes!"
"SIT!"
As Inuyasha came crashing to the ground, a low growl echoed into the night, and before she knew it, Sesshomaru was standing in front of her, fangs barred. Kagome gasped and took a step back as he flexed his claws.
"Do that again Miko, and I will tear your vocal cords from your throat." Sesshomaru snarled.
"Whoa whoa, calm down, calm down"
Miroku and Sango moved in between the two, Sango more shielding Kagome as Miroku moved to try to calm the raging Daiyokai.
"Its Kagome, Sesshomaru, she does that all the time, Inuyasha is used to it by now. Right Inuyasha?"
Inuyahsa let out a short grunt from his place on the ground. It did little to calm Sesshomaru. He shot a icy glare at Kagome before turning his back to her.
"See to it, that it does not happen again. My threat has been made Miko."
Sesshomaru knelt down to his brothers side, as Inuyasha pulled himself off the ground, spitting out dirt.
"I hate when she does that." He spat out more dirt.
"Hnn, well she will not do that again." Sesshomaru growled as he pulled Inuyasha to his feet.
"I wish you hadn't threatened her like that, you scared her."
Sesshomaru gave a quick glace behind him, inwardly smirking when the Miko averted her gaze.
"Good."
Sesshomaru brought his attention back to his brother, eyeing the beads around his neck. Carefully, he slipped one of his fingers through them, but stopped when he felt Inuyasha tense up.
"When I have my strength back, I will remove these."
"Thanks, but I've already tried, only Kagome can take them off."
"Hnn, you are not me, Inuyasha."
Sesshomaru let the beads drop out of his hands, and Inuyasha pondered for a moment. Looking back between his brother, and Kagome.
"You...really think you can remove them?"
"I know I can."
