"I heard you are planning on killing Klaus," Katherine said in a solemn tone, "I want in."
"That's it," Klaus couldn't help but scoff. "Are you expecting him to welcome you with open arms for that. This is my father we are talking about."
"Well, we can't just ask Rayna Cruz to kill him and be done with it now, can we?" Katherine said, throwing her hands in the air.
"Who the fuck is Rayna Cruz?" someone whispered and was met with the oblivious looks and few shrugs.
"There is no way Mikael is gonna believe you. Actually, he will kill you as soon as he sees you, and he will then drain you dry for a little extra boost," Klaus snapped, not minding the discussion of other people in the room.
"There is no way Mikael is just gonna waltz in here for you to kill him either," Katherine snapped back, "We have to lure him here. And what's the better way to do that, than, making him believe I want revenge on you for making me run for 500 years."
Before Klaus could retort something sarcastic, Elijah interviewed with a tired sigh. "Children. Please..."
The doppelganger and hybrid have been at it for half an hour now, and it was not going anywhere.
The Original in the suit turned towards the doppelganger, and said in a placating tone, "Katerina, Niklaus is right. Even if my father believes you want to help him in killing Niklaus, he wouldn't lower himself to accept your help. He has a particular aversion to our kind. And you are both a doppelganger and a vampire."
"I personally think Mikael is gonna jump at the very chance to kill him," Katherine said, eyeing the immortal hybrid with a scowl, "And I could always say I compelled Jenna to be my spy. I will also say that I have an invitation to the house. I could get a few hybrids for him to compel as a way to prove my undying loyalty. And when Mikael finally sees I am being helpful, he might even just handover the White Oak stake to me."
Well, that is what happened in the show. Mikael gave the stake to Damon to kill Klaus from behind.
"Now you are just sounding delusional," Klaus proclaimed, with a stoic face.
"It's called being optimistic," Katherine sassed.
"Alright. Knock it out, you two," Damon said, waving his hands, as Hayley dragged Katherine back a little before the retorts could turn into a full-blown catfight. "No offense, Kitty Kat, but that was way over-optimism," and the said vampire, huffed, "Even if what you said is true, I am not letting you risk it for these guys, who did nothing to us than being dicks," he said, pointing at the two originals in a slight hatred.
"Can we first focus on resurrecting Elena?" Bonnie said, from over the dining table she was sitting on, "In a few hours the body is gonna start decomposing."
"I am sorry, love," Klaus said, sharply, "I hardly care about Elena's resurrection over my father's demise."
"What?" Stefan looked surprised at the confession. "But she is the last human doppelganger."
"And..."
"Don't you want her to be alive?" Jeremy said, "She is the only source for creating more of your hybrids."
"The only reason I wanted my hybrids was because of my father. I created my own army to fight against him. So, at this point, I could care less about doppelganger's blood. I might need Elena at some other point in my life, but the only thing I need right now is a bonfire over my father's burning body," Klaus said calmly.
Hayley and Caroline blanched at the description.
"Why can't we just handover Klaus and ask Mikael to be out of our lives," Bonnie said, throwing her hands in the air.
"No ones killing Klaus until I know his sire-line won't end alongside him," Katherine growled.
"What?" Damon looked confused at that.
"It's just a theory of mine," Katherine replied in a gentle tone.
"You want this monster to be alive just because of a theory?" Bonnie scoffed.
"Well, my theory stopped Klaus from killing Elena months ago," Katherine snapped at the Bennett witch.
Klaus chuckled a little, getting everyone's attention back to him. "I honestly don't understand your loyalty towards Elena. I thought she was the reason your mother left you when you were just a kid. I mean, wouldn't she be here with you now, if it wasn't for your friend?"
And everyone in the room stilled at the disclosure.
"It's really hard to resurrect Elena with the Original witch being against it," Maddox broke the silence.
"And you also said the whole Bennett line is helping her except for your grandmother," Greta began, "So, what you are asking is nearly impossible, Bonnie. And even if we do resurrect Elena by any chance, it's only minutes before the ancestors start punishing your grandmother's spirit for going against them."
"No, no, no," Bonnie's expression turned aghast, "Grams didn't tell me anything like that."
"Maybe she didn't want you to know," Maddox said, "But this is reality, Miss Bennett. Resurrection always has a price. The resurrected spirits don't always come back the same," Maddox continued. "Jeremy's just seeing ghosts, what if Elena comes back wrong. I wouldn't put past the other witches to hex her with something incurable."
Bonnie and Jenna were in tears by now, and Caroline kept her palms against her mouth, her eye watered, processing everything. They were losing their hope. Katherine saw Jeremy leaving the room just then, and lifted her eyebrows in question, but the Gilbert boy just shook his head, tight-lipped, and went up the stairs mouthing, 'Elena wants to talk.'
"Miss. Bennett, Jenna," Elijah said, getting the teary-eyed girls' attention, "There is still hope. I give you my word I will do everything in my power to bring back Miss. Gilbert. But, first, we have to deal with my father."
Damon might have loved Elena if things happened a little differently. But, when Katherine came back, saying, she loved him, gave him the reason for her abrupt departure, the feelings he threw away came back with a full force.
So, whatever feelings he had for Elena, they haven't really developed into something more. They reflected. Even if Katherine hasn't agreed to be with him in the end, he had hope. She was his first love, she could even be the last. No one could tell. So until then, he continued whatever it was with Rose. Rose and he clicked instantly. There was progress for them.
But it wasn't like that for Stefan. The younger Salvatore might've stayed in Mystic Falls for Katherine look alike, but he loved Elena. And so, when she died, his heart broke.
It doesn't matter if it was because of the traveler's curse, or, some other thing. To them, it was real, and it was epic.
And, so, when Damon turned towards his brother a bit, and when he saw Stefan was holding up, he cleared his throat, saying "Right...So, does anyone have any more plans they would like to hit us with."
"You, wolf girl," Damon said, looking at Hayley. "Do you have a plan?"
"My plan is to follow her's," Hayley replied in an instant, looking at Katherine.
"Good plan," Damon commented, nodding his head, "Even though they sound insane and dangerous, they always work." He then looked around, "Anyone?"
"Why don't we just go to where he is staying and just...you know to kill him," Caroline said confused, "We have all these hybrids, two Originals, and us."
"Because I don't want my heart ripped out by a vengeful original," Katherine commented, "But, I vote for the Originals and hybrids to go and fight Mikael, while we sit here. Because I am not ready for a full-on battle mode."
"Oh! And you can always wrap yourself in metal chains or armor so he can't just stake you in the heart," Jenna muttered shyly, but everyone heard and gave her weirded-out look.
"That's actually a good plan," Hayley muttered, giving Jenna a look of appreciation, and the guardian smiled.
"Niklaus," A voice shouted from outside the boarding house.
"Is that?"
"Yes. He is here."
"How dumb is he to come here like that?"
"He is not dumb," Elijah sighed once again, "He is just too prideful, impatient. And he has the white oak with him."
Klaus was already at the front door by then, looking at his father with a scowl. "Hello, Mikael. Why don't you come in?" he said, "Oh, that's right. I forgot you can't."
"Or, you can come outside if you want," Mikael said, looking at his bastard son.
"Or, I could watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb," Klaus taunted, and on cue, few hybrids stepped out of the door, and a few stayed behind him.
"They can't kill me," Mikael said aloud with a sneer.
"True. But it'll make a hell of a party game. All I have to do is rub these two fingers together and they'll pounce," Klaus said, cocking his head to aside.
"The big bad wolf," Mikael commented with a sneer, "You haven't changed. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward. You only forget. They may be sired by you, but they're still a part vampire. And they can be compelled by me. I will tear their hearts out just like I did with your doppelganger."
Klaus chuckled at that, and sped up to grab Katherine, and showed her to Mikael. "You mean her. I resurrected her just a few minutes ago," Klaus bluffed. "So, whatever you think you did, it was all for nothing."
Katherine looked at Klaus, wide-eyed, at the sudden change in tactics but, nonetheless, played along as if she was a scared human who just came back from the dead.
When Klaus signaled for the hybrids outside the door to go against his father, Mikael stood his ground and killed the nearest Hybrid by ripping his heart out. And the others halted. "Come out and face me, you little coward. And you won't have to watch me kill all for these abominations you created."
Klaus, however, looked stubborn. "My whole life you've underestimated me. Kill them, for all I care. I only need to get rid of you."
"To what end, Niklaus?" Mikael sneered, "So you can live forever, with no one at your side? Nobody cares about you anymore, boy! What do you have other than those whose loyalty you forced? No one. No one."
At this point, Klaus had tears in his eyes.
"Enough," Elijah said, making his entrance just then.
Mikael simply smiled at him and said, "Hello, Son. I see you still choose to stand with this abomination."
"You are my blood, one that I'd be proud to call son. So, I will give you one more chance...help me put down that whelp for good," Mikael said, pointing his hand to Klaus with white oak in it.
"And I will tell you again, I will not betray my own brother for you," Elijah said in a solemn tone, "You will be a fool to think otherwise."
"Even after all these years, you still choose to fall with this bastard," Mikael decried.
"I will always choose him," Elijah said in a determined tone.
"Fine, then," Mikael said, flexing his hands, "Come and get me."
And so, both Mikaelson brothers looked at each other and stepped out of the door along with two dozen hybrids with a war cry.
Mikael, even as a human, was far more superior to his children in a fight. As a Viking, he knew the battle strategies by the back of his hand. He saw wars from a young age and has always managed to come out as a victor. Now, as the first Original Vampire, with nothing to kill Mikael other than the white oak in his pockets, he is difficult to kill.
Mikael started ripping the hybrid's heart out, and twelve minutes into the fight, Klaus nearly missed getting staked to death. Elijah managed to get the white oak off his father's hands. However, Mikael staked him with normal wood and rendered Elijah useless for the time being.
Meanwhile, Maddox and Greta, however, were using Alaric as a form of human sacrifice as soon as they saw Mikael on the doorstep. They asked Damon, Rose, Katherine, and Stefan to get near to Mikael's heart to desiccate him using the spell Shiela Bennett gave them, seeing they were the oldest that's left behind. The witch and warlock gave the vampires their blood and asked them to drink it to bridge them all together.
"If I am gonna die in the hands of Mikael. I will come back and haunt your arses for eternity," Katherine said as she joined the fight when they saw Klaus on the ground with Mikael standing over him with the stake in his hands.
And so they fought, dodging Mikael's attack. In no time, Damon caught Mikael's left hand and Stefan his right. Rose attacked from behind, and Katherine had her hand inside Mikael's chest cavity. A few hybrids that are still standing came to help them in holding down the Original.
"Katherine," he growled, and Katherine's eye widened, not expecting him to know her name. But figured it might be due to her status as a doppelganger.
"Mikael, nice t meet you, officially," she greeted back calmly, "You should have stayed in the tomb."
Just when they thought they hand him, Mikael gained control. He kicked Katherine in the knees, hard enough to break them, and as he was just about to pull his hand free, Klaus came to aid and knocked the white Oak from Mikael's hands. And then he rammed it into his step father's chest.
Mikael screamed loudly, falling to his knees and burned into flames along with the stake, as everyone watched.
And there were a few revealed sighs.
"Good work, guys," Katherine muttered with a hiss as she sat on the ground, watching her broken knee that started to heal.
Hayley and Caroline passed the threshold and came near to Katherine, "Are you okay?"
"Perfect."
Klaus then went over to his desiccated brother and picked out the wooden stake from his heart, and Elijah got up with a start. The older brother looked over to Mikael's burning body and then to his hybrid brother in question.
"We did it. He died," Klaus whispered. And after a thousand years, the brothers felt like they could breathe again. No more running, no more hiding. And there is no need to watch their backs or dagger their siblings in fear of getting Mikael's attention.
"We have a problem," Jeremy said, running outside the door, out of breath, "It's Elena."
So...How was it? My mind was absolutely blank because there were a lot of characters and I didn't know how to include everyone. But anyway, I am finally done. It might be a little OOC, but I don't really know at this point. So comment on what I should've changed, if I had to do, you know...for the next chapters.
And that's it. Toodles.
P.S: I realized fight sequences are not my thing.
P.P.S : For those who had Life as a Salvatore on your favorite and following lists, you will have to do it one more time as I deleted the story and reediting it.
