This Chapter and the next are a little shorter then normal. I do apologize, but I hope you enjoy.

The Following Day.

Jane was awake before Maura. If she were being honest she hadn't actually been to bed. She laid there with the blonde in her arms but couldn't bring herself to sleep. After a few hours of laying awake, making sure Maura was sound asleep she silently slipped out of bed and headed down stairs.

She tried watching the sports channel, reading and even some of Maura's tea. But it didn't taste very good, she thought maybe she had done something wrong and made a mental note to ask her about it later.

Jane sat outside on the deck with a light jacket and warm cup of coffee and watched as the sun came up. The morning sky was beautiful. The orange glow slow mixing with light blue. Jane closed her eyes and listened to sounds around her She could hear the birds chirping, dogs barking and people lightly laughing as they too enjoyed the early morning.

She remembered Maura telling her of a calming exercise and decided to try it. She took a deep breath, and released it, then another and another until she was able to center herself again. She knew today was going to be one of the hardest days of her life, of all their lives really.

But she knew in this moment listening to the sounds around her that her bestfriend would always be with her, he would always be in her heart and her mind. She decided that today wasn't going to be a goodbye but rather a see you later. Today she bring her bestfriends body to its final resting place but his soul, his smile, his laugh and the things that made him who he was would live on in all who were fortunate enough to be apart of his life.

Lost in her own thoughts she hadn't heard the back door open and then close. Maura made her way behind the tall brunette and wrapped her arms around her tightly.

"Hello beautiful." Maura spoke softly. "Are you alright love? I missed you when I woke up and you weren't there."

Jane smiled, this woman with her arms wrapped around her was a saving grace, her rock. The only person in the world whose simple touch grounded her. And she owed it all to Frost because without him telling her to pull her head from her ass she would of just stood back and let this wonderful woman walk out of her life.

Maura turned Jane around, placed a soft touch and looked into brown, beautiful eyes lost in thought. "Jane." She whispered softly.

Maura's touch and the way she said her name was enough to snap her back to the present.

"I'm sorry Maur. I was just thinking." Jane finally replied.

Jane could see the concern in the hazel eyes looking back at her.

"I'm okay baby, I'm sorry I wasn't there when you woke up." She said softly kissing Maura's cheek.

"What were you thinking about?"

Jane sighed. "Today." She could see the sadness in her girlfriends eyes and decided to explain.

"I've come to realize that today is not goodbye, its see you later. And that yes we will be laying his body to rest today but he will continue to live on in all of us. Frost may not be here physically anymore but he will always be with us."

Maura smiled up at her girlfriend and for the first time in days she seen peace in her big brown eyes. A little sadness but mostly peace and an endless amount of love. She pulled the brunette into a hug and kissed her softly.

"That is a beautiful way to see this Jane. And you are right he will always be with us." Jane smiled, her first real, full smile in days.

"I love you Maur."

"I love you too Jane."

They stood holding each other, just enjoying the embrace and the beautiful sounds of the world around them.

"I'm going to make some tea. Would like some?" Maura asked pulling away slightly.

Jane grinned remembering her attempt at making her own tea.

"Uh, if you make it I'll drink it but don't ask me to do it I tried and it was awful." Jane remarked with a chuckle.

"Hmm, maybe it's the brand that you don't like. Which one did you try?" The blonde asked as they made their way back into the kitchen.

"The one with the cute little panda on the label."

Maura couldn't help but laugh.

"What? What's so funny? Is that not a good one? I thought maybe it would be a good choice I see you making it all the time." Jane said with a hint of innocence to her voice.

"Well." Maura says debating if she should tell Jane how it's made.

"Well what Maur? Is it not?"

"Its and acquired taste is all."

Jane squinted her eyes at her girlfriend.

"I don't know if I buy what you are selling babe, it sounds like a load of shit." Jane said seriously.

Maura couldn't keep her laughter in any longer.

"What?! Jane asked and then looked back at the tea.

"Oh no! Don't tell me that this." She says picking up the tea container and pointing at it. "Is made from poop. And not just any poop but panda poop?"

Jane looked up at Maura who had tears running down her cheeks from laughing.

"Maurrra. Tell me this isn't made from panda shit and that I did not drink it." Jane says trying to be serious but barely being able to contain her laughter.

"It's not panda poop Jane." Maura finally said, taking a deep breath but still laughing.

"Okay, it's not poop but it is made in panda shit?"

Maura started laughing harder at the look on Jane's face.

"Eww, no wonder it tasted so bad! And here I was thinking I did something wrong. But nope, it's just the panda poop tea." Jane said now laughing at herself.

"See if I drink anything out of your cabinets again." Jane knew at this point that she was only making Maura laugh harder but she loved the sound of that womans laugh.

"Oh my god Jane." Maura said taking heaving breaths.

"I told you it's an acquired taste." Maura remarked still trying to catch her breath. Jane walked over and stood infront of the blonde.

"Yes your right Maur it is an acquired taste. But I do not have an acquired taste for panda shit." Maura looked at Jane trying to hold her laughter back but when she seen the look on Jane's face she couldn't, they both broke into laughter after a minute or two they both were gasping for air.

"Jane, love just to be clear the tea does not have panda poop in it. It is fertilized with Panda poop."

"Maur that doesn't make it any better. But because I love you I will drink your werid tea." The brunette says smiling.

After having a light breakfast they both head upstairs to get dressed. They needed to hurry to meet everyone at the funeral home. To save time the took a shower together. Maura made it clear before hand that there would be nothing else happening in the shower.

Jane vacated the bathroom first to let Maura finish getting ready. She quickly put on her pants and then her socks and shoes. She grabbed a white tank top and put on her long sleeve white button down. After buttoning it up she pulled out the box with her cufflinks.

"Maur, can you hell me with these?" Jane called for her girlfriend.

Maura came out in a simple black skirt and white blouse and black heels. Jane's jaw dropped.

"Jane close your mouth, you're drooling." She said with a smile.

"I'm sorry love. Its just you always look runway ready. No matter what you wear. You are always so beautiful."

Maura smiled and blushed lightly.

"Here sweetie." Maura says taking the box from Jane. She took her time in placing each cufflink then took a minute to straighten out the brunettes shirt.

"Thank you Maur, not just for this but everything." Jane said looking down at her feet.

Maura lifted Jane's face kissing her softly. "You are welcome my love."

After getting dressed they made their way out the door. The drive to the funeral home was quiet. Once they arrived they exited the car and headed inside to find everyone. They stopped in the cafeteria for some coffee. Angela and everyone was already there.

Camille hugged Jane tightly.

"Hi sweetie." Camille said softly.

The older woman had a blue rose in her hand. She smiled a sad smile and pinned it to Jane's white shirt.

"Barry loved that color." She softly, adjusting the rose. "Have you been in to see him yet?" She holding Jane's hands.

Jane sighed. "I haven't yet."

"Well I will give you a few minutes to yourself before letting the pastor know that we are ready."

"Thank you Camille." Jane says softly.

"Maur?" Jane says walking up next to her girlfriend.

"Yes love?"

"Will you come with me?" Jane asked with sad eyes. Maura didn't need an explanation.

"Of course Jane." Maura slips her hand into Jane's while the other holds Jane's upper arm.

At the door Jane takes a deep breath before continuing to the front. Once she was standing infront of her bestfriend her resolve crumbled. She held tight to Maura's hand as she placed her free hand over his. The tears she had fought all morning came pouring out. She bent down slightly and spoke.

"I love you brother. I hate that you left us so soon...you will forever be with us, watching over all of us. I miss you..." Jane swallowed hard and stood back up. Maura wrapped her in her arms and held tight. After a few long minutes Jane looked at her bestfriend one last time before walking away. Maura hadn't moved.

"Did you want to say something baby?" Jane asked wiping away her tears. Maura nodded.

The blonde leaned over Frost and whispered softly.

"Thank you Barry for keeping Jane safe early in life so I could find her later in mine. You will be greatly missed." With that she placed her hand over his and whispered her final goodbye.
