Alex's P.O.V
Everybody had finished their food when Elijah had his hands folded under his chin as he turned to my little brother. "Stefan," My little brother hummed in acknowledgment. "Where is the lovely Elena tonight?" Elijah asked as we all looked at him.
"I don't know. Ask Damon," Stefan answered. Add her name to the list of things not to bring up tonight. Klaus laughed, and Elijah looked at his brother confused, but Rebekah held the same of the expression in her face.
"I'm sorry, you've missed so much," Klaus said to them. "Ah, trouble in paradise." Yeah, that's one way to put it.
"One more word about Elena, and, uh, this dinner's over," Stefan told them. Klaus smiled smugly and put a finger to his lips as a promise to keep quiet about Elena.
"You know what, probably best just to keep Elena in the do-not-discuss pile," Damon said to the three Mikaelson in front of us.
"You're probably right," Klaus agreed.
"Yeah," Damon muttered.
"It's just the allure of the Petrova doppelgänger, is still so strong," Klaus announced as he leaned back in his chair and put his silverware onto his plate. "What do you say, brother? Should we tell them about Tatia?" Klaus asked him.
"Now why should we discuss matters long since resolved?" Elijah laughed as he placed his napkin on the table. Rebekah grabbed her wine glass and seemed annoyed by the subject.
"Yes, must we bring her up now, Niklaus?" Rebekah asked her older brother.
"Well, sister, given their shared affection for both Elena and Katerina, I think our guests might be curious to learn about the originator of the Petrova line," Klaus explained, and I gave Rebekah a knowing looking, understanding why she was so annoyed with the topic now. My little brother was staring at Klaus, annoyed that he wouldn't drop the subject, and I grabbed my wine glass as well.
"Well, we're not going anywhere, Elijah," Damon said as Stefan looked at our older brother. "Please, do tell," Damon encouraged while picking up his wine glass.
Elijah hesitated for a moment before speaking, "When our family first settled here, there was a girl named Tatia. She was an exquisite beauty," Elijah paused and bit his tongue for a moment before continuing. "Every boy of age desired to be her suitor," Elijah and Klaus looked at each other and Rebekah took another sip of her wine. "Even though she'd had a child by another man and none loved her more than Niklaus."
Klaus looked upward, as though he was remembering something, and said, "I'd say there was one who loved her at least as much." Elijah and Klaus looked at each other.
"Wait a minute," Stefan said, sounding as if he was now interested in the subject. "You two fell in love with the same girl?" Stefan asked as he pointed to both of them and chuckled.
"Our mother was a very powerful witch. She sought to end our feud over Tatia, and so she took her," Elijah said as he looked at Stefan. "Klaus and I would later learn that it was Tatia's blood that we consumed in the wine, on the night our mother performed the spell which turned us into vampires," Elijah explained, and I placed my glass back on the table softly as Elijah grabbed his. "Tatia wouldn't decide between the two of us, so for a time Niklaus and I...grew estranged. Harsh words were traded, we even came to blows, didn't we, brother?" Elijah asked Klaus.
"But in the end, we realized the sacred bond of family," Klaus said and sat up as he looked at my little brother.
"Family above…All," Elijah said as he raised his glass into the air.
Klaus repeated, "Family above all," before they clinked glasses and took a sip of their drinks. My siblings and I shared a look; then I noticed Rebekah sit up in her seat once her brothers finished talking.
"So, since we're on the subject of past lovers," Rebekah said while looking around the table before her eyes landed on me. "Did you ever fall in love with anyone before Niklaus, Alex?" Rebekah asked, and I looked at her annoyed but gave her a tight-lipped smile in response as I sat up in my seat.
"There were a few," I told her.
"Do tell," she said. I could tell she wouldn't drop the topic until I spilled, so I gave in.
"Well, there was Erin the man I was arranged to marry, we didn't truly love each, but he gave me my sons, and we were able to grow content with each other before I turned," I then thought for a moment. "Then before him there was John, but he died in the first two years of the Civil War. From there it has simply been a smattering of lovers over the decades, nothing serious," I answered her, then sat back in my seat.
"I never knew you were a mother," Klaus told me, with a hint of amazement.
"Yes, well there's a lot you don't know about me," I said to him.
I saw Damon look down at his phone under the table, and I knew it had to do with this coffin everyone is fighting over. Damon looked up at everyone when Elijah spoke up. "So why don't we move this evening along and discuss the terms of this proposal?" Elijah offered.
"That's very simple," Damon said. "Klaus gets his coffin back, in exchange, he and the Original extended family leave Mystic Falls forever." We looked around the table. "Me, Stefan, Alex, and Elena live happily ever after. No grudges." Elijah looked at his two siblings.
"The deal sounds fair," Elijah said, and both he and Rebekah turned to Klaus.
"I don't think you understand." Of course, he doesn't agree, what a shocker. "Elena's doppelgänger blood ensures that I will always have more hybrids to fight those that oppose me," Klaus sat up in his seat. "Let's say I do leave her here," He stands up from his seat, with his wine glass in his hand, and starts to pace. "Under your protection, what then? How long before one of you turns her into a vampire? Or worse, how long before she dies caught between your feuding?" Are you seriously making the case that you're trying to protect Elena from my brothers?
"You see, each one of you truly believes that you're the one that can protect her, and that is simply a delusion." Klaus leans on the back of his chair. "Gentlemen...the worst thing for Elena Gilbert is...the two of you," Klaus explained.
Klaus then looked at me and smiled, "And then there's your sister." I could feel my older brother tense up and ready to pounce at Klaus when the moment presented itself. "You see, I've been waiting for the moment when the two of us were reunited. And if you think Elena's the only reason I'm staying in town, I suggest you both take a look at the women between you," Klaus smirked at them. I could feel Stefan's gaze, whereas Damon just looked down at the table. "Because you two will always put her in danger when it comes to protecting your precious doppelganger," Klaus pondered to himself for a minute. "If I recall correctly, Mikael came to town because you wanted to kill me to protect Elena," Klaus stated, and I stood up.
"And if I recall correctly, you told Mikael to kill me which he almost did," I snapped at him. Klaus looked amused that I had spoken up against him. "So I'm sorry, but my part in your little explanation about why you won't stop tormenting us is invalid."
"But that's the truth, love," Klaus said to me, and I squinted my eyes at him in rage. "Mikael only came to this town because your brothers wanted to protect her from me. If they didn't, Mikael wouldn't have shown up and still be desiccated in Charlotte."
"That still doesn't change the fact that you told him to kill me, does it?" I asked him. "Mikael has been chasing you for centuries. One way or another he would have come for you here. So again your argument is invalid."
"If you two are going to argue, I'm going to get some air," Damon said and walked out of the room. I turned and watched as Damon as he walked out.
Elijah then got up as well, "Let me deal with this," He said to us and followed after Damon. Klaus, Stefan, Rebekah and I were now alone in the room. I looked back at Klaus and scoffed.
"I can't stand to be in the same room as you," I said to him and walked out.
I saw Damon and Elijah in a different room. They were talking to each other, but they didn't seem to notice me. I saw some stairs and decided to go upstairs and explore this house since I couldn't leave 'till this plan was over with. Why did I even agree to this? I knew it wouldn't turn out well, and I knew Klaus would never agree to whatever deal we gave him. But the fact that he was blaming Mikael only on Damon and Stefan made me furious. I didn't care if Mikael came to town because of my brother's precedent need to protect Elena! What I cared about was that neither Damon nor Klaus tried to stop him from nearly stabbing me in the heart!
I groaned as I walked into the first room I saw upstairs. I turn on the light as I closed the door and saw that the room was full of drawings and paintings. But what caught my eye was a canvas sitting on an easel in the middle of the room.
It was a giant portrait of me.
I was mesmerized by it and walked closer to it. I was about to touch it when a voice behind me made me jump. "He's constantly painting you," I turned around to see Rebekah.
"I'm sorry," I said. "I shouldn't be in here; it's just I couldn't stand to be in the same room as Klaus any longer," I explained to her.
"It's completely understandable," Rebekah said to me as she walked over to a nearby desk. "My brother can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but he does seem to care about you." She picked up a drawing, and I walked over to her. There was a desk drawing and they were all drawings of me again. "More like obsessed with you in my opinion," Rebekah muttered to me. "But Klaus claims it's all because he's in love with you - or something along those lines," She sighed as she leaned against the table.
"Are you telling me Klaus did all these?" I asked as I looked between the drawings and the painting.
"Yup," She said, and I looked at her shocked. "When I first saw all this," Rebekah gestured to the room. "I was just as shocked as you were. But when I mention it to Elijah, earlier, he says he's been drawing you since the day you two parted."
"How would Elijah know that?" I asked her. "He wasn't even there in the 1920s."
"Well, Elijah ran into him in the 1930s and saw Klaus sketching you. When he asked Klaus who you were, he simply answered with "She's the only woman ever to steal my heart completely. Trouble is she hasn't given it back to me yet," I couldn't help but laugh at the statement, and Rebekah laughed as well. "Now come on," She said and placed a drawing she was holding down on the table, "The boys are probably waiting for us downstairs."
Rebekah and I then walked back downstairs to find Damon and Stefan on one side of the table, and Klaus and Elijah on the other. Rebekah and I stood next to our siblings and faced each other. I didn't look at Klaus. I was confused by what the drawing meant and still pissed off from earlier. I also noticed one of the waitresses dead on the floor. I guess Klaus got bored.
"Now that our sisters are back, what do you say, Klaus?" Damon asked him. "It's time for you to put something on the table. We've made our offer, now you counter," Damon said, and I looked up at Klaus.
"Okay," Klaus said. "I offer Alex and Elena's future happiness. You see, what they both need right now is to be rid of you lot." Ok, I was pissed at him, but now I'm furious. "I'll take Alex and show her what the world has to offer for a few years."
"Hoping, what?" Stefan asked. "That a worldwide trip will make her fall in love with you again?"
"Well, that would be a nice bonus wouldn't it," Klaus said with a smirk, and I saw Damon's jaw lock into place. "As for Elena, she can fall in love with a human, maybe that nice football player, you know the blond one?" Klaus asked Elijah.
"Matt Donovan?" I asked him while looking at Rebekah, knowing that she liked him. "You do realize your sister likes him, right?"
"Yeah, why not? Rebekah will get over him, darling," Klaus said, but Rebekah didn't seem too happy. "Elena and Matt will get marry, live a long and fruitful life, and pop out the perfect family."
"And continue the Petrova bloodline. Every few hundred years, you'll have a new doppelgänger to drain and never run out of hybrids, right Klaus?" Stefan asked.
"Consider it a small return on my investment in her well-being. See, after you hand me back the coffin, I'll ensure both of their safety for the rest of their natural and supernatural lives." Damon kept eye contact with Klaus. "You know it's what's best for them," Klaus said.
"For Elena, maybe," I said to Klaus. "But as for me, I don't think so." Klaus seemed to be irritated by this. "When will you get it through your head, Klaus, I'm not the girl you fell in love with during the '20s anymore or the fact this is the 21 century. Where females aren't subjected to their male relatives." I paused for a moment then spoke again, "And as for siblings who need to be rid of their brothers, well I'd like to say it should be the ones locked in coffins for centuries that need to be reprieved."
"No," Klaus responded. "You're right, Alexandria." I squinted my eyes at him. "You're better than the girl I knew." That comment surprised me a bit. I didn't expect him to say that. Klaus then turned his head to Stefan. "So, what do you say, Stefan, hmm?" Klaus moved to stand in front of the fireplace. "Do we have a deal?" Klaus asked him, and Stefan started to walk over to him.
"What are you doing?" Damon muttered to him, as Stefan walked behind him. Klaus held out his hand to Stefan and wore a big smile.
Stefan grabbed Klaus's hand and said, "Nice try, Klaus. But no deal."
After that Klaus breaks Stefan's arm, and kicked his leg, breaking it as well. He pushes Stefan's hand into the fireplace, and it started to burn. Damon and I attempted to rush over to him, but Elijah intercepts Damon and pushes him against a wall as Rebekah does the same to me.
"What are you doing?" Damon asked Elijah. Klaus continued to hold Stefan's arm in the fire as Stefan screamed. "Stop!" Damon said when Elijah let go of him, but Rebekah didn't let go of me.
"Now, bring me my coffin before I burn him alive," Klaus said to him, and Damon looked at me.
I nodded to my older brother, before Damon said, "I'll get it." Damon walked out of the room, and Klaus then looked at Elijah.
"Go with him, brother. You keep him honest. And when you return, I will make good on my promise to you, and I will hand over our family." Klaus said, and Elijah nods. And this is why you don't take other people's family, Stefan.
Once they left the room, I grabbed Rebekah's wrist and broke her arm. I then sped Klaus to the wall and held him by his throat. "How about I rip out your throat instead?" I snarled at him with my eyes glowing gold. Klaus then grabbed my wrists and twisted it around my back as he pinned me to the wall and at the same time Rebekah restrained Stefan. Klaus bent down to my ear as he turns my arm a bit more, so I wouldn't move.
"You know there's not a lot of people who a brave enough to do what you just did, Alexandria," He said, quietly to me. "I guess you truly are an alpha." He lowered his voice even more. "A queen."
I shoved him off of me, and we stared at each other, both of our eyes completely gold. We were nose to nose, and I could see Stefan watching us closely. Klaus seemed just as angry as I was and I could care less about his emotions. But Klaus's ears perked up as he turned around, his back now facing me, and his eyes went back to normal. I looked around him to see Damon and Elijah coming back into the room. One of the waitresses walked back in as well, holding a plate with a cloth over it while standing next to Elijah.
"Elijah...why haven't you left?" Klaus asked his older brother. Rebekah slowly made her way towards Elijah. Well, I guess she did know about the plan.
"Where are your manners, brother? We forgot dessert." Elijah said with an evil smile. He then took off the cloth, to reveal two silver daggers laying upon the tray.
"What have you done?" Klaus asked them.
"What have you done?" Elijah asked him, as a response. "You see, I've learned not to trust your vulgar promises, Klaus. We're doing this on my terms now," Elijah said, and I watched as another man came out of the room.
"Kol," Klaus says, slightly scared as Kol came up to him.
"Long time, brother," Kol said, and I noticed how Elijah had grabbed one of the daggers from the plater and handed it to Rebekah.
Klaus started to back away as another man appeared behind Elijah. He grabbed a dagger and walked up to him, grabbing his wrist. "Finn, don't!" Klaus says then Finn stabbed him through the hand. Klaus tried to rush out of the room, but Rebekah was standing behind him, and she looked furious. "Rebekah!" She stabbed him in the gut with dagger Elijah gave her.
"This is for our mother," Rebekah told him. She pulled the dagger out, and Klaus falls back into Kol's arms as he restrains him. Elijah looked at my brothers and me.
"You're free to go." He said as he watched his siblings. Stefan made his way over to Damon at the same time I did. Klaus watched us as we walked over to Damon because we both realized our part in the plan was done. "This is family business," Elijah said.
We made our way to the front door and walked out. Well, that was one hell of a family reunion. Damon and Stefan started to walk towards the woods, and I stopped in my tracks when I began to follow them. "I'm going to go home ok? It's been a long day," I said, and they nodded at me before I sped home.
