Chapter 25
Yes, I have a half sister named Catilyn Martin, who is this and why are you asking me? The man on the other end of the phone, says I apologize for not introducing myself, my name is Dr. Tom Phillips, I am your sister's Doctor, and I am contacting you about your sister who is currently in the hospital, her liver is making her very sick, I was reaching out to see if you are willing to help her by donating a small piece of your liver. Excuses me Dr Phillips, but I have already told Hope and Catilyn Martin, that I could not help them. I already donated a liver to her, perhaps reach out the her father's family. I have a wife and children that need me and I have to put myself and them first. Now if you excuse my daughters are crying and I need to attend to them, Goodbye and don't call my number again. Hanging up, closing her eyes she took a deep breath to calm herself, when she opened her eyes, the first thing she was met with was the chocolate eyes of her wife, Jane. Jane was holding Susie on her hip, Ava Grace was standing next to her, placing her hand on Maura's shoulder, she asks her wife what was wrong? Taking Susie from Jane she tells Jane they would talk about it after these two sweethearts were asleep. Jane nodded leaned in kissing Maura, heading into their house, checking on the group of sleeping kids in the living room, they both headed upstairs. Maura was in the nursery feeding Susie, while Jane was in the bathroom preparing the bath for Ava Grace and Susie, with the help of Ava Grace. Maura brought Susie into the bathroom, as well as their pajamas, panties for Ava Grace, a diaper for Susie. As Maura sat on the bench watching their kids play in the tub while Jane bathed, played and talked to them, she was enjoying this moment, she had dreamed about. Maura was finishing reading to the two girls, Jane was preparing a surprise for her wife. She could always tell when something was upsetting Maura.
Maura enters the ensuite, she stops taking in the candles, the soft music, bubble bath, the glass of wine, and a tray with various cheeses, fruits, vegetables and crackers that was sitting on a small table by the tub. It amazes her how Jane always knew when she was off balanced and something was upsetting her. Smiling she walked over to where Jane was standing, she wrapped her arms around her and rested her head on Jane's chest. Feeling Jane tighten the hug and place a kiss on Maura's head, she relaxed in the loving, warm embrace of Jane's arms. After a moment, Jane unwraps her arms from around Maura, and stepped back. Maura, baby this is for you, you need a little me time, you have been so wonderful over the last few months, especially today with the Fucking Frankie Bullshit, and then you got a phone call and something is upsetting you, you need sometime for you, so enjoy, my love, l will be waiting for you. I am going take a shower in the other guest bathroom, I love you, Maur and I am here for you, always. Kissing Maura one more time, she was gone before Maura could say a word. Stripping out of her clothes, Maura quickly steps into the awaiting bubble bath, laying back in the tub, she closed her eyes and slowly she relaxed, nibbling on the tray of food Jane had set up, and sipping her wine, she went over the conversation from earlier, and debated the best way to tell her wife about it. One thing she knew is that Jane would be upset and furious to hear what the call was about. She must have been so caught up in her thoughts, that she had not noticed that the water was starting to turn cold, she quickly bathed, dryed off and threw her robe on, went through her nightly routine and when she opened the door Jane was not in their bedroom. Quietly and quickly checking the nursery, and then going downstairs checking on the kids sleeping in the living room, she decided to check Jane's gym/mancave. As she made her way the it, she began to hear the sound of Jane punching the punching bag, and the grunts that Jane made with each punch and kick. Watching from the doorway she could tell that Jane was still having some trouble with her coordination, and it upset her knowing that it was all her fault. As she was about to say Jane's name, Jane was knocked to the floor by the punching bag, rushing to Jane's side, she ask if Jane was alright, as she was helping her up. I am fine, Maur just was not as fast as I should be, and the bag taught me a lesson in pride. How was your bath, my love, did it help you relax? Yes Jane it did, thank you, you always know exactly what I need before I do, one of the many things I love about you, my love. Now let's go up, so I examine you and you can take the shower that you never took, okay. Taking Jane's hand she leads her upstairs to their bedroom, to the ensuite, quickly stripping Jane's shirt, bra, shorts and her boys boxer short, Maura examines every inch of her wife's body, checking for bruises, especially the areas of the left ribs. When Maura touch the left ribs, Jane hissed and winced in pain, Maura looked at her preparing to say something, but Jane put her finger to Maura's lips. Now Maura it is just a little sore and bruised, I didn't get out of th way quick enough and I will not go to the ER, I spend enough time in the ER, and hospital and the last time I was there I dam near died, so please understand and besides you do a more thorough examination than they do, you are a better doctor, and you have a better bedside manner. After agreeing to going to their primary care doctor on Monday, Jane got up turned on the shower, stepping into the shower letting the hot water run down her body, she was rested her head against the shower tile, the feeling of arms being wrapped arm her, she leaned back into the loving arms, before Maura turns her around, being confused she asked Maura what are you doing? I here to help you with your shower, Jane smiling as she says it. Quickly washing, conditioning Jane's hair, she bath her and then quickly dryed her off, taking Jane into their bedroom she has her lay down in their bed, placing a towel over Jane's left side. Now Dr Isles, you have me a very comprising position, and you have a few more clothes on then I do, saying as she smirks. Jane get your mind out of the gutter and behave yourself, you are hurting and in pain, now behave, she says as she is leaving their room, returning with a ice packs, a bottle of water, and two pain relievers pills. She hands the pills and bottle of water to Jane, she takes them and downs the bottle of water, Maura lays the ice packs on Jane's ribs. They both just lay in bed, Maura tucked into Jane's right side, she had set a timer on her cellphone for 30 minutes, so she could remove the ice packs.
Jane I need to tell you about the phone I received early, if you are feeling up to listening. Maura I am fine, just took a hit to my left ribs, I am always here to listen to you, and be there for you, so you can tell me anything. Okay the call I received earlier was from a Dr Phillips, he is Catilyn's doctor, he was calling to ask if I would consider donating a piece of my liver to her, she is very sick. Before you get furious and upset I told him, No, that I had already donated a kidney to her and that I had a family that needed me, and I suggested that they reach out to Father's family, and to not contact me again. You know that I really struggled after I donated my kidney and how neither of them reached out to me, the feelings that I had, you were there the whole time. Even after Paddy Doyle's trial, finding out that she had once again lied to the grand jury, everyone, you and especially me after I gave her a second chance, Catilyn and her left the country and I didn't hear from them till the day they showed up here a few months ago. Then to find out that she was one of the people responsible for your poisoning and almost your death. I can't be naive Maura anymore. The Maura that everyone took advantage of, made fun, used, and in other ways abused by people, does that make me a bad person, Jane? No Maura it doesn't, everything you experienced at the hands of other people has made you the person you are today. You have my support in all that you do. As long as you are okay, feel sure about your decision, know that I am here for you in any all ways you need me to be, you are my everything, my life, and my world. I love you and our family.
Jane was back at work for a month. She was going to be on desk duty for another month, so Maura was happy and relieved about that. Maura had returned to work last week, she had been working from home, since Jane's poisoning and recovery was the most important thing, the Governor, Mayor, BPD, and Cavanaugh had been very accommodating to her. She requested that she would stay in the morgue, doing autospies, and handle all the administration duties of the morgue, until Jane was able to be back in the field. They would work the same hours 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday thru Friday, off holidays and weekends. Constance and Arthur had been in Paris since a month after Jane's poisoning and her returning home. Korsak and KiKi was helping with the kids, so Maura could take care of Jane. Jane was trying to work things out with Frankie who would break any plans that they would make. He was still being a ass, continuing to make comments about Jane, making jokes, and had tripped Jane a couple of times. Nina, Jane and Maura had become close again. She had let Maura know about the things Frankie was continuing to do to Jane, it upset Nina. Jane had not told Maura about the way Frankie was treating her.
They had been working a bad homicide case for about 2 weeks, leads were running out, the evidence had been compromised by the rain, there had been several yelling matches in the bric between Jane and Frankie, Nina had to separate them a couple times. Everyone was working hard, chasing every leads, and reinterveiwing witnesses. The tension was high, a few of the detectives, including Cavanaugh, were working off steam in the BPD gym, Jane was one of them, this was where she would often be found when she was frustrated, unless Maura was available to assist her. She had been going through her work out routine, weights, jumping rope, punching the dummy bag, and was boxing in the rink with Cooper. Frankie was there not working out, but to constantly pick, make jokes, and just aggravated Jane. Cavanaugh was observing the situation the whole time. Jane finally had enough, turning she told Frankie to get shut the fuck up and get in the ring, it was time to settle this once and for all. Frankie said something cockly to Jane, and made a joke about her, he was laughing looking around to see that everyone in the gym had stop their workout, and that no one was laughing, he swallowed a big lump in his throat, someone started pulling gloves on him, and was pushing him into the ring. Meanwhile, Maura's and Nina's cellphone alerted them to get to the gym ASAP the texts was sent by Cavanaugh and Korsak.
As both of them entered the gym, they were both stopped by Cavanaugh and Korsak. Jane and Frankie were both trading punches, Frankie looked wrost then Jane. Everyone was cheering for Jane. Frankie connected to Jane right side with a shot to the kidney, and then left to her chin, knocking her down to the mat. The whole time Frankie was saying shit, finally he said something that made everyone quiet, causing people mouth to drop. Jane, you can't even fight a real man, like me, maybe it is time for you to realize you are a weak, worthless piece of an excuse for an human being, maybe you need to let me fuck Maura so she would know what a real man fuck like, but after all you just with her because of her money, you don't even know what real love is, and as far as her kids, they are not even yours, Janie. Frankie turn raising his arms in the air, saying something about being a real man. Jane is up on her feet, hitting him with a combination of punches, knocking him down, she is on top of him repeatedly punching him in his face.
