Flaming Drongo : When I finish writing the chapter.
Sultan Asil Arslan : ...Yes.
Black Magic99 : He's got a shield...a magical one yes but it's hardly a massive upgrade and it's not like his power has doubled or anything. Admittedly he will grow stronger a the story goes on but all of the characters do (except Hulk who was weaker at the end), Iron Man goes from Mark 3 to nanotech and Thor goes from needing a hammer to lightning blasting with or without (even if he got fatter).
Chapter 33 -
"One more please." Harry said to the barkeeper.
"Sure thing." The barkeeper nodded before going off to get another drink. Harry was calmly leaning on the bar with his arms crossed, he was wearing black trainers, blue jeans, a grey shirt under a black leather jacket. He looked around the bar, he didn't really get much of a reaction from the people beyond a few odd looks. At first he wondered why but then when he saw a couple of people with white hair he understood, ever since his identity had been reveled there had actually been an increase in the number of people with white hair. Harry knew he could have just drank at home but it had been a long time since he had gone out on his own.
"Hey look," A voice behind him said, Harry looked over his shoulder to see a forty something year old man with a woman hanging off his arm. "another Grim wannabe." He laughed as he gestured to Harry, the girl on his arm laughed as if he had just told an unbelievably hilarious joke. Harry tried the 'ignore him' option and turned his head back around, though apparently the guy wasn't having that. "Oh look, now he's trying to be mysterious and cool." He chuckled.
"Listen asswipe," Harry said in a tired voice. "go enjoy your yourself, have fun with your girl and have a few drinks, just leave me alone."
"Did you just call me asswipe?" The man said, no humor left in his tone.
"At least your ears are working." Harry muttered.
"Don't think that you're a big man just because you can dye your hair and act like Grim!" The man growled.
"Hey, that's enough of that." The barkeeper said as he walked back in while holding Harry's glass.
"Agreed," Harry said as he raised his hand, he wandlessly levitated the cup out of the barkeeper's hands and into his own. He drank the whole cup down before placing it on the bar, he withdrew some money and tossed it to the amazed barkeeper before turning around to the man and woman, both were staring at him with wide and disbelieving eyes.
"Nice to know that you're such a fan." Harry smirked before he teleported out of the bar.
"Fucking hell!" The man cursed once Harry was gone, realizing that he had been messing with the actual Grim, everyone else in the bar had appeared to have realized it too. He didn't get too long to think about it as Harry teleported back in.
"By the way," Harry said as he leaned closer to the guy "ASSWIPE!" Harry shouted into his ear before teleporting away. Was it childish and immature? Maybe, did Harry care? No.
Harry sat around in his new apartment, it was an improvement when compared to his old apartment, it basically looked the same but was much bigger and nicer, it also somehow felt 'rich' for lack of a better word. Though the most amusing thing in Harry's opinion was the fact that it was opposite Natasha's place, Harry could literally step out of his apartment, take a couple of steps then be right outside Natasha's door.
Harry highly doubted that was a coincidence, he didn't know if Fury was doing it simply because he wanted two of his top people in the same place, because he knew of the romantic interest between them or if it was just his way of trying to be funny. Either way Padfoot seemed to have approved so that meant that Harry was stuck here.
"Woof." Padfoot barked at Harry.
"Hmm?" Harry frowned before checking the time on his phone. "Yeah, you're right, I have to get ready for my date." Harry said, today he was going to be going on a date with Natasha.
"Woof." Padfoot barked.
"I'll keep that in mind." Harry said before he got up and walked towards the bathroom. After a short while and a nice shower Harry came back out, wearing black shoes, a nice black suit with a white shirt and black tie, Harry hadn't focused too much on his hair as Natasha had told him that she liked it better messy. Plus after so many years Harry knew that trying to tame his hair was futile. "What do you think Padfoot?" Harry asked his faithful four-legged friend. Padfoot fazed at him for several moments before nodding and giving an approving bark. "Thanks." Harry nodded at him. "you look nice too."
"Woof?" Padfoot stood up.
"No," Harry shook his head. "you can't come on this date."
"Woof?" Padfoot whined.
"No," Harry shook his head once more. "you can't get me to change my mind. You are not coming. Hey...don't give me that look."
"Woof?"
"Fine," Harry said through gritted teeth. "I will ask Natasha if you can come on the next date."
Harry arrived outside Natasha's apartment after a 'very long' walk from his own apartment, he knocked on the door. He waited a moment and stopped himself from knocking again when he heard the sound of footsteps coming from the other side of the door. Harry took a deep breath and did a quick head shake to clear his thoughts.
"Just a regular date Potter," Harry whispered to himself. "just a regular date."
The door opened and Natasha appeared in front of Harry, she was wearing black high heels along with a very attractive black dress that ended at her knees, her hair was straightened out and fell down just past her shoulders, it was clear that she had put some effort into it. Slung over her right shoulder was a thin gold colored chain that connected to a small purple handbag which Harry was pretty sure had a gun or at least some kind of weapon inside. She wore red lipstick and had put a small amount of make up on, it looked to Harry that she had put on the minimal amount needed, going for a more 'natural beauty' look instead of the 'put as much makeup on as possible' that Harry had seen other girls adopt.
"So..." Harry began in an awkward voice. "...nice weather?"
"Really?" She asked, raising a perfect eyebrow, though the effect was ruined by the smile she had.
"No wait, I believe I'm supposed to compliment your looks first, that right?" Harry asked with a teasing smirk.
"That would be how most dates start," Natasha nodded as she put a hand on her hip. "so how do I look?" She asked.
"Beautiful as always Romanoff, beautiful as always." Harry said as her offered her an arm. She stepped out of her apartment and locked the door before putting the key in her handbag and taking his arm with her left hand.
"Thank you." She smiled as they began walking. "You clean up pretty nice too." She complimented. "How much of it is magic?"
"I don't disguise myself with magic if that's what you mean," Harry replied. "I took a shower and then used a towel to dry myself, I only used magic to create my suit plus a charm to make me smell nice and that's about it."
"Hmm," Natasha gave him a small sniff. "you do smell quite nice." She admitted. "You know most girls would have liked their dates to have put more effort into preparing for a date." She idly commented.
"Are you most girls?" Harry countered with a raised hand.
"I suppose not," She snorted. "and for the record it's not really something that bothers me. I'm merely pointing out that it might bother other women."
"I suppose but in that case I would reply with 'don't tell me that you wouldn't do the same if you could'." Harry shrugged.
"Fair enough."
A short while later Natasha and Harry were sat at a table in a local restaurant. Harry, who was the first to admit that he was no expert when it came to dating, thought that it was a nice and safe option for a first date. The restaurant itself was pretty expensive but highly recommended online, and thanks to a few charms by Harry the couple looked just like any other regular couple to everyone apart from each other. Plus Harry had also cast a few spells to make it sound like they were just having regular conversations, that particular act was done because he knew they were very unlikely to have regular conversations.
"So," Natasha said as they began eating. "I have a question I was hoping to ask."
"You have my attention." Harry replied.
"Do you go on many dates?" She asked.
"Not really," Harry admitted. "in this life I've never really gone beyond a one night stand."
"And in your previous life?
"Well I had been on a few but never any serious ones." Harry answered. "Just didn't have time for that, couldn't find the right woman either."
"High standards?"
"I suppose you could say that," Harry nodded. "you have to remember that there was a war going on. Voldemort was leading the enemy side, the blood purists and 'dark side' depending on who you ask. Dumbledore was leading the 'light side', which were basically the 'good guys', except they fought to maintain the status quo, and they were just as narrow minded as the blood purists in certain ways. As for me? Well I was the celebrity wonder child who was leading the third option, those who wanted change in the wizarding world but not because of blood status. We wanted a world where blood status didn't matter."
"Did it work?" Natasha hesitantly asked, hoping it wouldn't upset him to ask.
"Well...nobody cared for blood status and the world did change." Harry said with a smile that didn't quite meet his eyes. "Anyway that's enough about me, what about you? Have you been on many dates?"
"I've been on a few, not counting those that I've gone on for missions." Natasha answered. "None of them ever really reached past the second date." She admitted.
"Assholes?"
"Big ones," She nodded. "I can't really date a civilian and those I date from Shield are hoping to 'bag' the famous Black Widow."
"I here you," Harry said in a sympathetic voice. "I have had more than a fair share of people trying to get with me because I was famous. You ever get any really old people?" Harry asked.
"I beg your pardon?" She blinked.
"Did you ever get any old guys trying to have a feel or something?"
"Once or twice." Natasha nodded, they both knew that meant a lot. "what about you?" She asked as she brought her glass to her lips and began sipping on her drink.
"One old lady offered to take her false teeth out and show me just how good a toothless woman is." Harry commented, causing Natasha to nearly choke on her drink. After some small coughing she recovered.
"You've got to work on your timing," She said before letting out a laugh. "admittedly I've never had an old man offer to remove his teeth."
"You're missing out." Harry said in a jokey voice.
"I'm sure," She said in a dry voice. "how are you liking your new apartment?" She asked.
"Well it's better than my old one," Harry replied. "though I can't help but wonder what was exactly going through Fury's head when he decided to place me opposite you, my guess is that it's his attempt to be funny."
"Director Fury with a sense of humor?" Natasha said with mock fright.
"We're doomed." Harry said dryly. "By the way Padfoot has asked me to ask you if he can come on our next date?"
"He wants to come on our next date?" Natasha said slowly, as if she couldn't understand the words.
"Hey, I just promised to ask, neither of us have to agree to it."
"Fine but we're blaming you for it."
"Wait...why are we blaming me?"
"Because I don't want Padfoot to get upset with me." Natasha said as if it was obvious.
"By the way, I'm sorry to bring a bit of business into the date but Fury and me are working on something that you might find interesting."
"Oh?" She asked, waiting for him to continue.
"Me and Fury were secretly working on a project called 'RS-3'." Harry continued.
"I've never heard of that one."
"You wouldn't have," Harry replied. "RS-3 stands for Runespoor 3."
"Runespoor?" Natasha asked.
"I chose the name, it's sort of a bad joke, where I come from there is a three headed species of snake called Runespoor. Now...can you name me another creature with multiple heads? Hint...I'm thinking of a specific one." Natasha racked her brain for several seconds before she was able to come up with an answer.
"Are you talking about 'Hydra'?" She asked, hoping he wasn't. Hydra was an organization that was originally founded by Johann Schmidt AKA 'Red Skull' as an advanced weapons division of the Nazi Schutzstaffel, HYDRA became an independent terror group bent on global domination during World War II.
"Yes that's preciously what I mean," Harry sighed. "we named the project RS-3 as we didn't even want to mention Hydra and risk tipping someone off."
"Why?"
"Because they are in every level of Shield." Harry answered calmly, shocking Natasha.
"What...what do you mean?"
"They're in Shield, I'm a mind reader remember." Harry said as he tapped the side of his head. "When I first joined Shield I didn't really trust anyone there so I used it much more than I usually would. I came across a few members of Hydra, I told Fury about it once I was sure that he didn't know. Me and him then made plans to go after them."
"You didn't go after them immediately," Natasha noted. "you were playing the long game."
"Yes," Harry nodded, glad that she understood. "the one thing that Hydra was good at was hiding. They've divided themselves to the point where none of them, even the head of Hydra, know every single Hydra member."
"Who is the head?" Natasha asked in a very interested voice, it shocked her to know that Hydra was hiding in Shield. She couldn't imagine how Steve was feeling about this.
"Alexander Pierce."
"As in Secretary Pierce?! Secretary of the World Security Council Pierce?!"
"The very same."
"Holy shit!" Natasha cursed.
"Indeed," Harry nodded. "me and Fury have been working on finding as many Hydra members as we can, obviously mind reading is not real evidence so then we've been working on gathering evidence. We plan to act soon, we're going to take out a large amount of Hydra from Shield."
"How much?"
"We estimate around sixty to seventy percent of Hydra's Shield operative," Harry replied. "like I said before Hydra was very smart about making it so that nobody knew ever single member. We believe it's also possible for Hydra to have agents posted elsewhere, maybe something as normal as coffee shop or possibly..."
"Somewhere more serious like a nuclear factory." Natasha finished for him.
"Exactly, me and Fury have been checking out the places where they're more capable of causing damage, it appears that most of Hydra was focused on Shield. Me and Fury were planning to start making our move before but Loki came along and we kind of needed all hands on deck."
"Understandable," Natasha frowned. "what do I have to do with this?" She asked.
"Fury's setting up a team to help get as many Hydra members as possible." Harry began explaining. "I know I'm in the team, he's planning on asking Cap to help out. He's also asking Barton and he'd like you to help out as well, this is not an Avengers mission and it's optional. Though Fury wants an answer within a week because we plan to make our move in two."
"Wow...that's heavy." Natasha said eventually.
"Sorry," Harry said apologetically. "I know that's not great date talk but there's kind of a deadline."
"It's fine." Natasha waved him off, one of the things that working with Shield had taught her was being flexible and the fact that assignments could come from anywhere at any time. "I'll think about it."
"Good, so should we get back to regular date conversation?" Harry offered.
"Please." Natasha quickly agreed.
"So," Harry said once the two got back and were now standing in-between their apartments. "I enjoyed myself." Harry said.
"Me too," Natasha nodded in agreement. "it was rocky at times, such as the sudden offer to help take down one of the most dangerous organizations in the world, but I did enjoy it. Perhaps we can go on another one sometime soon."
"I wouldn't object to it." Harry said with a small smile as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her in for a kiss which Natasha gladly returned.
"Hmm," Natasha broke off the kiss a few moment later, but Harry simply shifted to kissing her jaw and neck. "do you think this is a little fast for the first date?" She asked as she rubbed her body against his.
"We've already gone past this before." Harry reminded her in-between kisses.
"Fair enough." She said before placing both hands on his head and bringing him upwards so she could smash her lips against his. The kiss deepened as she wrapped her arms around his neck, with one hand on his shoulder and the other running her fingers through his hair. Harry had wrapped both arms around her waist and gently pushed her against her door.
"We can stop now if you want." Harry offered as he pulled apart from her slightly.
"Don't you dare." She said before pulling him back in for a kiss, her right leg rose up and wrapped around Harry's left leg, Harry's left hand quickly moved over to her leg and began rubbing it up and down. She moaned into the kiss and raised her other leg, Harry held her up by grabbing both legs and she wrapped them both around his waist.
The two didn't stop kissing, even as Harry shifted his hands so he was grabbing two handfuls of her rear. He temporarily removed one hand so he could wandlessly unlock the door. He carried Natasha inside and the door closed after another wandless spell.
The next morning Harry walked back into his apartment to find Padfoot sitting on the sofa and watching TV, upon noticing Harry he turned to him and gave him a grin and a happy bark.
"Shut up." Harry said as he walked past Padfoot and to his bedroom.
"Woof!" Padfoot barked again, looking very happy.
"Shut it or I'll throw away your chew toys." Harry threatened.
A.N: Hi guys, hope you liked the chapter. I know I said that this was supposed to be the chapter where Thor the Dark World started but when I wrote that I had forgotten that I had planned to do this before that, not after. So my apologies and the start of Thor the dark world SHOULD be on the next chapter.
Thanks for reading, feel free to leave a review and enjoy the omakes.
Omake 1:
"So Tony is in charge of this Peter Parker kid?" Harry asked Natasha.
"That's right." She nodded.
"And we are trusting Tony with the kid?" Harry asked with disbelief.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"I'll call Pepper."
"You do that." Harry nodded.
Omake 2:
"Yeah...no, we're not having the kid on this team." Harry said to Tony.
"Why not?"
"You're an immature billionaire who will likely spoil the kid in some way or form, Cap will likely turn him into a boy scout, Thor will probably think he's an actual spider, Hulk might sit on him, Barton might shoot him and Natasha walks around in tight clothes and body suits. We'd end up with a spoilt, flat, horny spider boy scout. And nobody wants that Tony.
Omake 3:
Harry is suddenly hugged by Peter.
"The fuck?" Harry asks.
"Language." Steve's voice is heard despite him not even being in the building.
"He read a fanfic where you kill yourself." Tony explained to Harry.
"Oh..." Harry paused, unsure of what to do, he slowly wraps an arm around Peter and hugs him.
Omake 4:
"Favorite TV show?" Clint asked.
"Avatar the Last Air Bender." Harry answered.
"Favorite character?" Tony asked.
"I can go for either Aang or Zuko, don't make me chose."
"Have you seen the film version of it?" Tony asked. "I haven't yet."
"No, haven't seen it, though I've heard a lot of people say it's shit." Harry replied.
"Well let's give it a shot, it might not be that bad." Clint said.
"Fine." Harry says before putting the movie on. after an hour and 43 minutes Clint and Tony run out of the room as Harry screams with pure rage.
