Quinn walked into the bridal boutique with April and Gabby. She was looking through the racks while they were waiting for their appointment.
"I thought you gave some big speech about having a small wedding, not wanting to make a big deal?" April asked as someone handed them glasses of champagne.
"I am not complaining" Gabby said taking a sip of hers.
"I mean I could get married at city hall tomorrow" She said with a smile "But it can still be in a beautiful dress, right?"
"City hall?" April asked raising an eyebrow "I don't see it"
"I did say to Jay I wanted a little more than that" She admitted "But I honestly would"
"The dress is a must no matter what" Gabby nodded "And I don't think you have to stick to small"
"That's true" April agreed "I know you don't want to be planning for months but you can put together a lot fast"
She tried on a number of styles of dresses, shorter in length, princess ballroom style dresses but when she put on a white sheath dress with a lace back and cap sleeves she fell in love. It had the perfect amount of beading and embroidery to still be interesting, but it was still elegant and not overdone. She felt beautiful as she looked in the mirror. She turned around to face her friends.
"You look stunning" April told her.
"Jay is a lucky lucky man" Gabby agreed "They all looked beautiful, but this is the one"
Quinn was in two minds about buying the dress after all that she had said about not making a big deal about the wedding. But it was her first and hopefully only wedding. So, she went for it.
Jay was already home when she got back from shopping. She tried to sneak in and go up stairs with her bags as she quietly shut the door behind her.
"What's all that?" He asked with a smirk looking over as the first stepped creaked under her foot "Were you trying to sneak in?"
"No" She scoffed "Why would I hide shopping bags, I just wanted to put them a way and not leave clutter down here"
"What's in the bag?" He asked looking at the garment bag over her arm.
"A new coat" She lied.
"It says Annabelle's Bridal" He pointed out.
"So why did you ask?" She said rolling her eyes "I still need a wedding dress, and no you can't see it"
"So, you wouldn't be mad if I got us an appointment with Father Michael about a church wedding?" He asked.
"You did?" She asked putting down her bags and hanging the garment bag over the chair.
"I think you forget that I know you sometimes" He laughed putting an arm around her as she sat down beside her "I want a real wedding, I want everyone we care about there and I want to celebrate"
"Who knew you were such a romantic" She teased "I promise I won't tell anyone"
"I kind of just want a bachelor party, I figure we need a real planned out wedding for that" He shrugged earning himself an elbow dig to the ribs.
Quinn had made the mistake of telling her mother about the wedding which had led to Judy trying to plan the entire thing. Her Mother had been devastated when she told her they were probably just going to get married quickly at city hall and then have people over afterwards. She would be a lot happier with the latest news.
"You know my Dad asked if I knocked you up when I told him" He laughed shaking his head.
"I have been so nice to that man" She said with a smile "I'm going to have to have words with him next time I see him"
"He said if you're not we should think about it soon, he wants grandkids before he dies apparently" He said.
"What did you say?" She asked looking up at him.
Quinn knew she did want children, but she didn't know when. She was building her career and was finally happy.
"I said it will happen when it happens" He told her "You're still a resident, intelligence is intelligence, I kind of think it will happen at the right time"
Will was working overnight so it was a rare night alone. Jay managed to not be called into work. They got to just enjoy each other's company like a normal couple. They decided against eating out and ordered in. Sitting in their own home together always made her wonder why they had wasted so much time before. They had been through a lot and they deserved to be happy.
