Chapter Twenty-Seven

Everyone is gathered in the Cullen's living room. Listening to Alice explain her latest vision.

"I can now see the room Charlie is in. I see details of the room. But the problem is there is not enough details to make out where the room is." Alice says with frustration. She leans into Jasper for comfort. She loves Charlie and she hates to see the things she has seen being done to him.

Edward nods in agreement. "She is right. We have to figure out where Charlie is a different way." He is standing behind Bella with his hands on her shoulders. She had listened to him and calmed down after the incident with Tanya. Bella said she understood, but Edward wasn't sure she completely believed him. He could see she was being the way she always was, and letting doubt come into her mind. So whenever they were near Tanya he tried to be as close to Bella as he could. This seemed to be helping Bella, and he is so glad she let him touch her like this, even if it is only when they were near Tanya.

Edward is trying to ignore the looks Tanya keeps giving him and Bella. He is very grateful to his siblings for getting her off his back, but he is worried about how long it will last with them not acting completely like mates. He hopes Bella will see he really does love her and will never leave her side again.

"I had Jasper call the police station to talk to Charlie. He had promised to keep in touch when he left Charlie to first start looking for Bella. Of course, he hasn't kept that promise, but it was a way in to get information about Charlie. Mark talked with Jasper for a while and we found out Charlie has been missing since April 17th. They have no leads as to where he is or what happened. The house was not a mess, his police car was in the driveway, his keys and wallet on the table. All they know is he was at work the day before, called in around 5 AM on the 17th to say he was sick, but would come in later in the day to make sure all was okay. They tried to convince him he could stay home and rest, but he insisted he was going to come in for a little while. When he never showed up they went to check on him to make sure he was okay since he was sick. That is when they found out he was missing." Alice turns to Jacob.

Jacob takes a deep breath. He hates talking in front of so many people, especially when one of them was causing his friend more stress she didn't need. The Cullen siblings had explained what was going on and he was always not too far away from Bella when they were all together like this. "Alice then begged me to call my dad. I said I would try, but warned it may not help at all. When I called I explained we were worried about Charlie and were afraid a vampire might have taken him. My dad grumbled saying he shouldn't be talking to me since I chose bloodsuckers over family. I tried explaining that we had imprinted on the kids, but he didn't care and said just talk to Sam. The only reason they talked to me is they were desperate for information too. Sam explained there was a bloodsucker in town and Charlie disappeared a day later. They were not sure why they couldn't find it, but it seemed to always be able to evade them. He explained the smell and I am pretty sure it was Victoria's scent he was describing. The day Charlie disappeared they were able to follow her scent to the waters edge. Then, of course, they lost the scent. They went up and down the shore, but never found where she came out. Of course, they didn't go far from La Push and Forks. I lied and told them we didn't have any further information, but if we figured something out we would let them know."

Alice smiles at Jacob and takes over again. "The reason they can't find him is because they will not travel far from La Push. Edward and I can tell Charlie is still alive as of right now. I think she is letting me see him when she is torturing him so that we will come and save him. I am pretty sure she is doing this so she can get to Bella. Then she did make that mistake and we now know she is in Seattle."

Edward squeezes Bella's shoulders. He can't help but smile when she put one of her hands on top of one of his and squeezes back. Then she presses her cheek on his other hand.

He looks at Jasper. Jasper smiles at Edward, knowing what he wants to know. Yes Edward, I do think she is starting to come around. Believe it or not I am thinking Tanya may of actually helped you with Bella. Ever since then, Bella seems to gravitate towards Edward more. I have been watching and she seems to be doing it without even thinking about it.

Edward smiles more as he listens to Jasper. He has noticed that as well; how Bella is around him a little more now. He doesn't like how it happened, but he is glad Bella might finally be coming around.

Tanya clears her throat. "I am not trying to be mean, but I am just wondering why we care that this Victoria has this Charlie person anyway?" She continues with a wave of her hand "Yes, I know he is Bella's dad, but humans die every day. We are safe here, why should we go to her and probably into a trap?"

Bella stands up while growling. Edward quickly wraps his arms around Bella's waist and pulls her back to him, trying to keep her away from Tanya. Edward whispers into Bella's ear. "Don't listen to her. We will save your father."

Bella calms down and turns to look up at Edward. She smiles her thanks and leans into him. She knows she shouldn't be doing this, but she felt better in his arms. So for now she is going to stay right here. Maybe what Edward said the other day is true, maybe they are mates, and maybe she needs to trust him when he says he isn't ever going to leave again.

Jasper smiles at the love he feels from both of them, along with a little desire. Edward, feel this. He sends the love Bella was feeling towards him. Edward looks at him and smiles in thanks, then hugs Bella a little tighter. She really is finally coming around. The guest room will hopefully not be his room for too much longer.

I am so happy she is starting to trust him again. I think with how hard Edward is working to prove himself, she is finally realizing what we keep telling her is true. Though I feel she always knew it, she was just afraid to admit it to herself.

Edward smiles at the rest of Jasper thoughts and kisses the top of Bella's head. Then focuses back on what Jasper is saying.

"Tanya, if you had a chance to save someone you loved wouldn't you?" Jasper tries to ask as nicely as he can.

Edward continues "I know you still wish you could have saved your mother Sasha."

Tanya looks down while Irina and Kate look at each other. Kate looks at Alice "What can we do to help?"

Alice is about to respond, but is pulled into a vision.
