Chapter 58: Starlight Road

The two had arrived at wherever the other man led them. They parked in a spacious garage, with more than enough room to house both D-Wheels. The area was clean, and full of several different D-Wheel and vehicle parts. Yusei didn't have time to gawk as the other him removed his helmet and then took the deck from his D-Wheel. Yusei did the same, removing his own helmet. Then he grabbed the deck and putt it in the right box on his waist. Then they kept moving.

Even though Yusei had met a duplicate of himself, he was still shocked as his double had opened the door to a large looking complex with a building on the outskirts. It looked a lot like the home Rua and Ruka had back in his version of the Tops. The shocking thing was not the building, but rather the two people inside. The second the door opened, they looked at him with confused smiles.

In the Dimension called Synchro, it seemed there was no end to the surprises.

He knew them the second his eyes fell on them. His Mother and Father.

"Wecome home, Yusei." His Mother had said, beckoning his other into the room.

"And Yusei. You too, dear." She said, making him feel strange. His stomach hurt and he wanted to cry.

"Mother. You saw the footage then." The other him spoke, looking to him. "He's just like me."

"Except – where I come from – my parents are gone." Yusei said, feeling the hole their absence left for the first time in a long time.

"But we're here in this world. And as long as you're in this world, you are our son." The woman said, pulling him into a hug as his Father put a hand on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze. The feeling made him want to cry.

"I – am so sorry, Yusei. I wish that we – that you could have the same experience as our Yusei."

"Father. I got to see you a few times. But it was brief. You said you'd always be with me. And I feel that you are – even though you're not alive." Yusei felt foolish speaking.

How could he possibly explain everything to them? How could he impose on this other version of himself? On his own parents? He didn't have any answers as the other him turned to him.

"Hang up your jacket and take off your gloves and boots. It's almost time for dinner."

"But – you must have questions."

"And they can wait. Now – take off those gloves and boots. It's time to eat." His mother said.

Dinner had been strange. They all had soup, taking turns speaking as the three listened to him speak. In this dimension, his Mother was a card designer, while his father worked with Momentum Research, though this kind seemed safer. There were no Godwins in this world to any of the resident Fudos' knowledge.

They discussed the Duel between the two while they ate and the other Yusei's parents asked him a lot of questions. Yusei ate quickly so that he could answer them all but was astounded that the food was all of his favorites if he didn't have to worry about money. The milk was even better than the brand that he liked back home and that Martha used to scoff at when they went shopping.

"So you also discovered this method to Synchro Summon using only Synchro Monsters in your own dimension?" His Father asked.

"Accel Synchro. It's how I made my Shooting Star Dragon."

"And our Yusei here, that Duel was the first time I saw that Stardust Warrior. It makes sense that a Synchro Warrior modelled off of his Stardust would represent his evolution if your Shooting Star Dragon is an evolution of your own Stardust Dragon. I'm proud that Yusei Fudo can do something like that, regardless of the dimension he comes from."

His son smiled at this and Yusei felt a sense of pride that he wished he could have felt himself.

"Yusei dear, do you mind if I see your Deck? I saw some monsters that I'm inspired by." His mother said.

"Son, you didn't like his Junk monsters?" She asked, looking to her native son, who seemed taken aback at the question.

"Well – it just makes me think of the Commons. 'Junk' being something they are born into. I was surprised by a proud 'Junk' monster is all. The 'Warrior' Series don't seem like they would need a monster like that – but Junk Warrior was the card that beat my Stardust Warrior. That means I can't underestimate any card if I want to be a better Duelist."

"Well, remember that Jack also came from the Commons. Where you come from isn't what makes you you." His mother said, and her son nodded sheepishly.

"Then I'll let you look over my cards after dinner." Yusei said and Mrs. Fudo smiled.

"Good. I think they'll tell me a lot about you. Then you can work with your Father on some Momentum calculations and fine tuning your D-Wheel."

"Why?"

"To send our son back home, of course!" Mr. Fudo answered.

/

Yusei awoke in the room belonging to the other him. That Yusei in question was sleeping on the couch, giving him the experience of having the room to himself. It wasn't his but – it was nice. There was a lot of mechanical devices arranged neatly on a wooden desk. And binders full of cards. There was even a few sets of extra Riding Duel pads in the closet. He'd slept well once his Father spoke with him about Momentum and they came up with a plan to get him back home.

His Father and the other him worked with him tweaking the Yusei Go in ways that should work in theory. Yusei told them that it was likely not his physical self that was present given the circumstances. The actual D-Wheel, Deck, and body of Yusei Fudo was currently hijacked by Marik Ishtar – who for some reason was not in the database of the current dimension. In fact none of the past records showed any recorded knowledge of Yugi Muto, or even Seto Kaiba. Duel Academia was also not present in the database. In this dimension it seemed that Dueling's roots began with Synchro Summoning.

Breakfast was eaten quickly as the family got ready. His Mother gave the other him a few new cards and told him to treat them with respect. The other him looked a bit surprised to hear that and for a moment Yusei felt like he really was a part of their family.

/

"Like we discussed. The two of you will Duel using the system from our world. Meaning you'll use regular Spell Cards with your D-Wheel. Our version of Speed World works with your system after all." Mr. Fudo said.

"And I made you a few cards that haven't been officially released yet. We'll just say this was another test in Dueling Theory." Mrs. Fudo said to her son before addressing the other Yusei. "Security was fine with our son's explanation of things yesterday so if we send you on your way, that should keep Roget from being involved."

"Roget?" Yusei asked.

"Jean-Micheal Roget. The man who thinks he runs the city. A real piece of work if you ask me." His father answered. "In any case – best of luck to both of you."

"It's going to be different this time." The other him said and Yusei nodded with a smile. "I've been looking forward to this rematch."

It was early morning, the sun starting to rise. The streets weren't fully crowded yet and there was a long Duel Lane that the two could use. The whole Fudo household had been up late getting everything ready, but Mr. Fudo's theories in Dimensional research given the recent arrival of 'Lancers' debuting in the Duel of Friendship Cup lined up with Yusei's own notes, and expanded on them.

It was just a theory but Yusei remember that he was an anomaly here. As it had been when his soul was inside of Airo's card, Yusei knew that remaining here would only cause problems.

The twin bursts of crimson sped down the Duel Lane as both Yuseis accelerated, the Duel beginning.

"Riding Duel, Acceleration!" The two of them yelled.

"Good luck." Mrs. Fudo said, her and Mr. Fudo watching both of them over a dual Comm.

"I'll go first!" Yusei declared, the man from Satellite beginning his turn.

They had agreed to use the rules of this native dimension. Meaning Speed Spells were not to be used. Yusei had his Ground Deck retooled with cards from his Riding Duel Deck, wondering how they would flow together.

The rules of this dimension prevented drawing on the first turn and Yusei would have to work around it. He wasn't used to skipping the first draw but supposed he wouldn't have to get used to it for long.

TURN 1: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"I'll begin with the spell card One For One! I discard my Speed Warrior as a cost to Special Summon Tuningware from my deck!"

In a flash of light, Tuningware appeared beside his D-Wheel in the morning light (1/100/100).

"And then – I Summon Junk Synchron!" Yusei continued as the orange Tuner appeared beside him with a grunt (3/1300/500).

"Junk Synchron, huh?" The other him said aloud.

"I'll use its effect to revive Speed Warrior." Yusei said as Junk Synchron pulled on its ripcord, Speed Warrior rising in Defense Mode next to Junk Synchron (2/900/400).

"Next – I tune Junk Synchron to Tuningware – and use Tuningware's effect to treat it as a level two monster." Yusei explained as his monsters began tuning.

"Clustering stars call upon a new force. Become the path its' light shines upon! Synchro Summon!

Appear, Junk Warrior!"

From the Synchro Summon, Junk Warrior took off above him, white scarf billowing behind him as it took a battle stance (5/2300/1300).

"And now you'll see Junk Warrior's monster effect: when it's Synchro Summoned, it gains the attack points of all the level two or lower monsters in play. Power of Fellows!"

Speed Warrior glowed in a blue aura that Junk Warrior gained (5/2300 → 3200/1300).

"Gaining power from its' allies. That's fitting for a monster that represents you as a Duelist. Even alone, I can see you carry those bonds with you wherever you go." The other him said and Yusei nodded.

"That's why you shouldn't underestimate the Junk Series." Mrs. Fudo chided. The two Duelists were silent for a moment before Yusei continued his turn.

"Tuningware's ability will let me draw a card as I used it as Synchro Material."

He drew a new card, bringing his current hand size to three.

"Then I'll set a card – and end my turn."

Turn 2: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Two cards in your hand. And you have a monster with over three-thousand attack points on the first turn. Then I'll have to go all out it seems." The other him said, drawing a sixth card.

"I'll begin with this card. If I control no monsters I can Special Summon Synchron Frame from my hand."

The man from the Tops played the card and it materialized above his D-Wheel. It was a mobile platform of sorts, with a Synchron of some kind's upper body jutting out of a slot on top (4/0/2000).

"And now – I Summon Jet Synchron!"

The next Tuner was another Synchron that Yusei never saw before – a jet turbine with two angry cartoon eyes (1/500/0).

"Now – I tune my two monsters together!"

"The turning star channels speed into pure might! Accelerate and break apart the sound barrior!"

"Synchro Summon! Blast off, Jet Warrior!"

From the Synchro Summon, a sleek black jet fighter soared by, rapidly transforming into humanoid robot. It sped by on Jet Wings, yellow eyes looking down at its' controller's opponent (5/2100/1200).

"Now – since I used Jet Synchron for a Synchro Summon, I can add a 'Junk' monster from my deck to my hand – such as my Junk Rocket to my hand!" The other him explained.

"I see. So you decided to use the 'Junk' series I showed you then?" His mother said and he smiled.

"Yes." He answered, looking to the other him. "Yusei - if your card philosophy that nothing is useless gives you such strength – then I want to see that strength for myself." The other him said, adding the card to his hand and giving him five cards.

"Futhermore, Jet Warrior's effect – I can target your Junk Warrior – and return it to the Extra Deck! Jet Turbine!"

Yusei's eyes widened as Jet Warrior's shoulder turbines spun, two vortexes of wind ensnaring Junk Warrior and sending it flying away.

Junk Warrior groaned as it vanished from the field, Yusei returning it to the Extra Deck and the other Yusei pointed at Speed Warrior.

"Now – Jet Warrior! Take down that Speed Warrior! Diving Break!"

Jet Warrior boosted in a loop before swooping down. It built up momentum before it punched Speed Warrior, shattering the lower level monster.

"With that – I end my turn!" The other him said and Yusei wanted to grimace at the reversal. The other him had five cards in his hand. Still – Yusei wasn't about to stop going.

TURN 3: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!" Yusei declared, pulling his next card and forming a plan.

He had three cards in hand. That would have to be enough.

"I'll begin with this – the Trap Graceful Revival – to bring back Tuningware!" Yusei stated as the Trap sprang up and did as described, Tuningware floating back to the field (1/100/100).

"Then – I Summon Synchron Explorer!" Yusei stated, his red and spherical robot appearing beside him (2/0/0).

"And with its' ability – I revive Junk Synchron!"

The orange Tuner appeared once again, doing a flip and landing in front of the other two monsters (3/1300/500).

"And now – I use Tuningware's effect once again – to make it level two! (1 → 2).

"Finally – I'll tune all three monsters together!" Yusei declared.

"Clustering roars turns into an echoing arrow which tears through the skies! Become the path it's light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Show yourself, Junk Archer!"

From the burst of light, the sleek orange robot appeared, looking down at Jet Warrior with it's blue mono-eye (7/2300/2000).

"Junk – Archer?" The other him said with a nod. "So – that explains it."

Yusei didn't question the last statement as he kept going with his turn – drawing another card off of Tuningware's effect.

"I'll use Junk Archer's effect to banish your Jet Warrior until the End Phase.Dimension Shoot!"

The warrior let its' bowstring fly as Jet Warrior was struck with its' arrow and vanished from the field.

"And now – Battle! Junk Archer, attack directly! Scrap Arrow!"

The archer fired again and the other him responded in kind.

"Not quite! If you attack me directly, I can Special Summon Sonic Runner from my hand!"

With a squeak, a variant of his Road Runner appeared with a squeak. While Yusei's was pink, the other's was a light green (1/400/300).

"And this card cannot be destroyed by battle with monsters that have two-thousand or more attack points." The other him explained as the attack hit, but did not damage the small bird monster. Sonic Runner let out a squeak but kept running at a fast pace.

"Sonic Runner, huh?" Yusei said with a smile as he set two more cards. "How many new cards did you get?"

The other him snorted in humor. "Mother wanted me to test out ten. That's not even counting the Synchro monsters."

"Did I give you too many things to try out at once?" She asked and her son chuckled. "No. In fact, that Sonic Runner card just saved me from losing a lot of life-points."

Mrs. Fudo beamed at this from the screen and kept talking.

"And? How do you feel – changing the balance of your deck?"

"Well – I have to admit it's nice using some cards that don't directly correlate to my deck's archetype. It makes me feel almost like I'm an Entertainment Duelist. I have to think about the essentials of the game again. Sonic Runner isn't really a part of my Synchron Deck's theme but – a strategy isn't just about what Archetype is being used."

Yusei smiled hearing this. That philosophy would make the other him one step closer to facing this version of Jack if they were to Duel again.

"Bonds don't have to occur due to similarities. In the Sattelite – I considered all my friends there my family. I suppose it might seem naive but – that's also how I made my deck."

"So – that's been the same deck you've used your whole life?"

"Pretty much. The core is always the same. Though I treasure all the cards I've used. Now – show me what you can do, Yusei!" He yelled to his other. Right now his own field was two set cards and Junk Archer. That would have to be enough to counter the other's next play.

"I end my turn."

Jet Warrior reappeared from the banished zone, hovering beside Sonic Runner (5/2100/1200).

TURN 4: YUSEI (SATTELITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw." The other him declared, now having five cards yet again.

"And then I'll summon Mighty Synchron!" The other him declared.

A new Synchron fell out of them, hovering beside it. The monster was brown and squat, a rusty engine that looked like it was built to last with two angry cartoon eyes that glared at him (2/300/200).

"Mighty Synchron? Then – what are you going to Summon?" Yusei asked his other.

"You'll see! – I tune my level five Jet Warrior and my level one Sonic Runner with my level two Mighty Syncron!"

The Synchron split into two rings that enveloped both monsters, reducing them to six stars. Eight levels alligned and Yusei tensed as his other chanted.

"The vast sea of shining stars parts as the hidden dragon appears from within! Fly high above the road of light! Synchro Summon! Burn brightly, Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force!"

The dragon rose with a rasp and Yusei tensed. "Stardust - !"

"And my Dragon's presence will turn the tide in this Duel. For Nnext is Mighty Synchron's effect – doubling the attack points of the Synchro Summoned monster until the end of the turn!"

"What?!" Yusei blinked as the rival Stardust Dragon doubled in power, glowing with might (8/2500 → 5000/2100).

"Now Stardust – wipe out Junk Archer! Striking Sonic!"

Stardust complied, firing the beam of power straight at the other monster.

"If that's the case – I'll use the trap – Synchro Out! I return Junk Archer to the Extra Deck – and bring back the material monsters used to Summon it!" Yusei explained as Junk Synchron (3/1300/500), Tuningware (1/100/100), and Speed Warrior (2/900/400) re-appeared.

"Then – I redirect Stardust's fury to Tuningware – and use the Quick-Play Spell Scrap Break! This gives my attacking Synchro Monster Piercing Damage! If you can't stop this attack – I'll win."

"Then – Trap Card, Open! Urgent Tuning! - letting me Synchro Summon during the Battle Phase!"

"Impressive – now what will you do?"

"I'll call a monster I once used to help save my timeline! A monster representing bonds that transcend time and space!" Yusei beckoned as his three monsters tuned once again.

"When wishes of steel gather round the messenger of the gale, that wish will become an invincible shield! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Come out, Junk Gardna!"

A dark green robot rose and took a defensive stance. It had large shields on each arm and pair of metallic cannons on its' back (6/1400/2600).

"Now – I use Tuningware's effect a third time and draw!" Yusei stated, bringing his hand to just one card.

"Another Junk Synchro Monster then? Stardust will attack it!" The other him said.

"Junk Gardna's effect will switch your Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force into Defense Mode!" Yusei challenged, the Dragon Synchro flying back as it changed modes (2100).

"What!? Changing Stardust's position to stop such an attack - !"

"Since you don't have that Warrior's Stronghold trap in play, I can target your monsters with effects. That's the only way I can counter you right now." Yusei admitted.

"Then I'll end my turn – and leave you with my Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force!" The other him challenged.

TURN 5: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!" Yusei yelled, holding out the second card and forming a plan.

"Now – I Summon Max Warrior!" Yusei stated as his bulky Warrior monster rose with a grunt (4/1800/800).

"Max Warrior – attack Stardust Dragon!" Yusei stated as Max Warrior's eyes flashed red and it gained some attack points (1800 → 2200).

"If Max Warrior battles with a monster, it gains four-hundered attack points during the damage step."

"Then – I tribute Stardust to cancel that battle! And now your Warrior can't damage me since Stardust Dragon can reduce the total damage I take this turn by its attack points."

Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force vanished from the field and Max Warrior struck thin air.

Yusei closed his eyes and set another card, emptying his hand yet again.

"There's no point in attacking since you'd nullify the damage. Then I'll set this and end my turn."

With a flash of light Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force reappeared with a hiss (8/2500/2100).

TURN 6: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 4000 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw." The other him said, now having four cards in hand.

"I'll continue with a Continuous Spell card – Junk Field."

The other him played the card and a series of stone turrets appeared winding down the Duel Lane. Each one had a machine of sorts protruding from the turrets' interior.

"Once per turn, I can send a "Synchron" monster from my Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon a 'Junk Token." The other him said.

"So by sending my Gravity Synchron to the Graveyard, I'll get a Junk Token!"

Then a compact and cube machine appeared, looking like it had been compressed by whatever was below the turrets (1/0/0).

"Then I'll Special Summon Junk Rocket from my hand since I control a Synchro Monster."

A rocket ship made of scrap parts and loose screws shot down the field, keeping pace with Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force (3/1300/1200).

"And then – I Summon Nitro Synchron!"

The other Yusei's chosen Tuner appeared, the pink, cyllandrical guage squeaking as it descended next to the other monsters (2/300/100).

"And now – I tune my Junk Token, my Junk Rocket, and Nitro Synchron together!"

"The gathering stars converge to unleash a violent explosion! Synchro Summon – Appear now, Nitro Intercepter!"

From the exposion, a black armored warrior appeared with a suit of armor covered in rocket boosters, especially in the shoulders, back, elbows and feet. He had a dark battlemask and tubes going from the sides and back of his head to the back and shoulders of his suit (6/2600/2200).

"You did it!" His mother cheered as Mr. Fudo looked over her shoulder, interested in the new card.

"Nitro Intercepter - Another 'Nitro' monster?" Yusei asked.

"I suppose Mother saw the potential of other 'Warrior' monsters if she saw your different 'Junk' Synchro monsters. Now since I Synchro Summoned, I get two effects! First – I draw a card since I Synchro Summoned a 'Nitro' monster with Nitro Synchron! And second – I draw an additional card since I used a Junk Token to Synchro Summon this turn." he said, drawing twice, so he now had three cards in his hand.

"And now – I can go on the attack! I'll blast away both your monsters!"

"Nitro Intercepter – Dynamite Crash! Pulverize Max Warrior!" The other him declared as the Synchro blasted off.

"When I declare an attack using Nitro Interceptor it gains five-hundred attack points!" The other him explained as the monster increased both attack strength and velocity (2600 → 3100).

"Additionally - once Nitro Intercepter battles, I can destroy another card you control! Naturally I'll destroy your Junk Gardna once your Max Warrior is defeated."

"Not quite! Don't forget about Junk Gardna's effect!" Yusei warned, Junk Gardna leaping in front of the Interceptor and parrying him away, the black armored monster going to Defense Mode (2200).

"Then – Stardust – annihilate his Max Warrior! Striking Sonic!"

The beam of light ripped through Max Warrior and Yusei grunted in pain, taking the first damage in the Duel (YUSEI (SATTELITE) 4000 → 3300).

"With that – I end my turn." The other him said."

"Then – on your End Phase I use Miracle's Wake to bring back the Max Warrior you just destroyed!" Yusei countered as Max Warrior re-appeared with a grunt (4/1800/800).

"Hmph. Not a bad counter. Turn end."

Yusei blinked as his other's field. Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force was formidable. Then there was the threat of that continuos spell card. And on top of that was Nitro Intercepter.

The Yusei from the Tops also had four cards left in his hand. Meaning he'd have a counter to Yusei's next move. Still – all the two of them could do at this point was to move forwards.

TURN 7: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 3300 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!" Yusei declared, pulling the next card from his deck and smiling when he saw it's appearance.

"I Summon Justice Bringer!"

Ahead of him a golden armored warrior appeared, with a blue tunic under the armor, holding a fine golden staff in its' grip (4/1700/1000).

Junk Gardna's effect forces your Stardust into Defense Mode once again!" Yusei commanded as the dragon let out a rasp.

"Not if I tribute it to dodge that effect and protect my life-points - ! The other him said, activating Stardust's effect. "Salvation Sanctuary!"

"Not so fast! Justice Bringer's effect will chain to that! Once per turn, it can negate the effect of a Special Summoned monster!" Yusei declared as Justice Bringer raised its' staff, sending out ripples of light.

"Negate the effect of Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force!" Yusei commanded.

The dragon stopped glowing with white light as the effect stopped, and then Junk Gardna's effect resolved. Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force slumped in Defense Mode once again (2100).

"Battle! Max Warrior – attack Stardust Dragon – Eternal Force! Swift Rush!" Yusei ordered.

Max Warrior readied its' staff as it gained attack power once again (1800 → 2200).

The Warrior slammed into the Synchro monster and the dragon shattered, the other Yusei narrowing his eyes in frustration at his dragon's demise.

Max Warrior then floated back to Yusei's field, losing attack power as it did so (4/1800/800 → 2/900/400).

"In that case – since you summoned a monster – I can Special Summon Rail Gunner from my hand!" The other him interjected as a new monster appeared. It was a mobile weapons platform, attached to a hovering guardrail. (2/500/500).

"That – ends my turn." Yusei said, feeling like all he could do at this point was defend with Junk Gardna.

TURN 8: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 3300 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!" The other him yelled, face contorted in frustration at the loss of his own Stardust Dragon. He had four cards in his hand now.

"I'll keep going!" He declared, playing another card. "I tribute Rail Gunner to Summon out my Quickdraw Synchron!"

The cowboy themed Tuner appeared, readying its' gun (5/700/1400).

"And then – I use Junk Field! I send Catapult Synchron to the Graveyard to gain another Junk Token!" As the words were spoken, another token appeared (1/0/0).

"And now - ! I tune my token with my Quickdraw Synchron!"

"The Clustering Stars are channeled into a force that will smash all into atoms! Synchro Summon! Break Down, Junk Compacter!"

From the light, a new Junk Monster appeared. This was a bulky machine, covered in orange armor plating and with a blue mono eye – like Junk Archer. The similarities ended there, as this machine was hovering in the air, legs made of transformed tank treads, and with two metal claw arms. Two pile drivers were attached to each arm (6/2400/2000).

"Another Junk Monster, huh?" Yusei asked, wondering just what the other him would do with it.

"Since I used the Junk Token to Synchro Summon, I draw another card. Next I'll use Junk Compactor's effect to send my Junk Rocket back to my deck – and have it gain Junk Rocket's attack points!" The other him declared. Upon declaration, Junk Compacter's eye flashed a bright blue.

Yusei glanced over the rest of the monster's abilities. Additionally he'd be able to then send a 'Junk' monster to the Graveyard to destroy a card Yusei controlled.

"I won't let that happen – I'll negate that effect with Justice Bringer!"

Justice Bringer raised his staff and the shining light in Junk Compacter's eye dimmed.

"Then – I'll proceed to my Battle Phase! Junk Compacter – Strike down his Justice Bringer with Junk Piledriver!"

The Junk Monster slammed its' drivers into Justice Bringer, the large chest of the Syncro mosnter opening as it tossed the monster in. The chest slammed down, shattering the Warrior and sending it to the Graveyard (YUSEI (SATTELITE) 3300 → 2600).

"And then I'll attack with Nitro Intercepter!" The other him declared.

"And I'll cancel that attack with Junk Gardna!" Yusei countered as Gardna slammed its arm shields together, making Nitro Intercepter stop as it switched battle positions a second time.

"Then – I end my turn!"

TURN 9: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 2600 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

Yusei made his move quickly upon drawing his latest card. It seemed his deck had given him a very direct answer.

"Next – I'll play Tuning to add Hyper Synchron to my hand!" Yusei stated as Tuning's secondary effect sent the top four cards from his deck to his Graveyard.

"Then - I Summon Hyper Synchron!"

The stocky Tuner appeared with a grunt (4/1600/1000).

"And I'll tune my level four Max Warrior with my level four Hyper Synchron!"

"Clutering wishes become a a new shining star. Become the path it's light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Take flight – Stardust Dragon!"

From the most recent Synchro Summon, Stardust Dragon appeared with a fierce roar (8/2500 → 3300/2000). It descended to hover above the Yusei-Go.

"And due to Hyper Synchron's effect, Stardust Dragon gains eight-hundered attack points and it can't be destroyed by battle. However during my second Standby Phase after using this effect, it will be removed from play."

"Taking that high of a risk against me – you must be desperate to turn the duel around. In that case - I'll use the quick effect of Junk Compacter to return Stardust Dragon – Enternal Force back to my Extra Deck. Then Junk Compacter will gain its' attack points! You won't be able to touch my life-points this turn!"

Junk Compacter glowed in an orange aura and its attack power skyrocketed (2400 → 4900).

"Then – I'll use Junk Gardna's own effect to change Junk Compacter to Defense Mode!" Yusei countered as Junk Compacter went into a defensive stance (2000).

"Proceeding with my turn! Stardust Dragon! Attack Junk Compacter! Shooting Sonic!"

Stardust Dragon opened its' mouth, charging the white orb of static before letting the blast fly. The stream of Shooting Sonic overwhelmed the Junk Synchro and it shattered apart.

"Hmph. You got lucky. But – that luck won't last. You only have one full turn that your Stardust Dragon remains in play."

"Then – I end my turn." Yusei said, feeling trapped in his current situation.

TURN 10: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 2600 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!"

The other Yusei assessed the situation He had four cards, looking across the field to see Stardust Dragon and Junk Gardna both opposing him.

"An impressive field. But – it's not going to last you for much longer!"

The other him played a spell card showing Junk Archer leaping back while Nitro Warrior advanced.

"The Spell card – Synchro Gazer! I pick a 'Warrior' Synchro monster in my Graveyard such as Jet Warrior and then I can Special Summon a Warrior Type Synchro monster from my Extra Deck with the same level, but negate its' effects. Additionally it cannot attack or be used as material for a summon, except for a Synchro Summon. And since I'm picking Jet Warrior as my target – I'll special summon out Unknown Warrior!"

In a flash, Unknown Warrior appeared, pointing its' claw arm at the other two Synchro Monsters (5/2100/1100).

"But – since this doesn't count as a proper Synchro Summon – I won't get its' revival effect. Additionally – I'll send my Lighting Synchron to the Graveyard to generate another Junk Token."

From the line of turrets that winded down the street, another Junk Token appeared (1/0/0).

"And now – I discard Changer Warrior to reduce Unknown Warrior to a level three monster." The other him discarded the card and the level changed accordingly (5 → 3).

"Then – I summon Steam Synchron!"

The train themed tuner appeared and tuned with the adjusted Unknown Warrior.

"The hidden star emerges from the expanding nebula! Ride the light! Synchro Summon! Strike now! Steam Warrior!"

He declared as his next monster appeared in a hiss of smoke, the train knight emerging from the mist to ready its' rifle (6/2400/2000).

"Steam Warrior now? But – against Stardust Dragon and Junk Gardna - "

"I know it's a gamble but – it's one I'll take!" The other him declared.

Steam Warrior's body sent out a gust of mist as it readied its' rifle.

"And since its' atttack power is higher than Junk Gardna's – I'll banish that monster for good!" The other him declared.

Steam Warrior fired and Junk Gardna vanished from the field.

"And now Steam Warrior's effect will destroy my Junk Token."

The token shattered and Stardust Dragon immediately lost some power (3300 → 1900).

"Since I destroyed my token, your Stardust is now too weak to get by my Steam Warrior! And I'll also use Lighting Synchron's effect to double the battle damage you'll take!" The other him boasted. "Now Steam Warrior – attack his Stardust Dragon! Steam Rifle!"

The Synchro Warrior fired at Stardust Dragon, who resisted the attack even as Yusei was hit with some more damage (YUSEI (SATELLITE) 2600 → 1600).

"Looks like that's all for me this turn." The other him said, still holding two cards in hand.

Turn 11: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 1600 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

Yusei drew his next card and found it was agreeable in the current situation.

"Now I'll activate one of the cards that was sent to the Graveyard by Tuning last turn. I'll banish Skill Succesor from my Graveyard to give Stardust Dragon eight-hundered more attack points!" Yusei stated as his dragon powered up (8/1900 → 2700/2000).

"Now – counterattack Steam Warrior! Shooting Sonic!" With his command, the funnel of sonic power tore into Steam Warrior, causing the Synchro Warrior to shatter apart (YUSEI (TOPS) 4000 → 3700).

"Hmm. You managed to damage me – and get by even my Steam Warrior. But – your own Stardust Dragon will be banished on your next turn due to Hyper Synchron's last effect."

"That's right, but I can work around that! I summon Mono Synchron!" Yusei stated as the level one Synchron appeared next to Stardust Dragon (1/100/100).

"Mono Synchron's effect will turn Stardust into a level one monster!" Yusei said as Mono Synchron did just that (Stardust Dragon: 8 → 1).

"I see. Keeping your Stardust Dragon from being banished by using it as Synchro material?"

"That's rght. I'll tune Stardust Dragon with Mono Synchron!"

Stardust Dragon flew through the single ring as Yusei chanted.

"Gathering wishes will call out a new speed's horizon! Become the path its' light shines upon! Synchro Summon! The power of hope, Synchro Tuner – Formula Synchron!" Yusei cried out as Formula Synchron was on the scene (2/200/1500).

"And Formula Synchron's effect will allow me to draw a card!" Yusei declared, immediately setting it on the field.

"Turn end!"

Turn 12: YUSEI (SATELLITE) 1600 / YUSEI (TOPS) 4000

"Draw!" The Yusei from the Tops drew his next card so that he had three.

"Now – I'll reach that stage on this turn!" he declared.

"Remember – you want to Accel Synchro like we discussed." his Father said in the public comm so both of them could hear it.

"Yes. If he has what I think he does on the field – then we should be fine. Now I'll proceed. First – I'll use Junk Field again. I send Steam Synchron from my Deck to the Graveyard to gain another Junk Token." The other him said as a new token appeared (1/0/0).

"Next I'll use Junk Trader to get rid of Junk Field and draw twice." he explained, the line of mechanical turrets vanishing as he drew, now holding four cards in hand.

"I then discard my Starlight's Wake trap card to Special Summon Jet Synchron back from my Graveyard – but it will be banished when it leaves the field" The other him said, now with three cards as Jet Synchron appeared (1/500/0).

"And then – I summon Drift Warrior."

A lanky warrior in a brown and tan powersuit appeared, staying on course with a pair of ice skates (2/500/0).

"And I'll use Drift Warrior's effect to double its' current level!" the other Yusei said as it did so (2 → 4).

"And then I tune my level one Jet Synchron to my level four Drift Warrior!" He stated.

"The future is realized as it is met with the star of destiny! Synchro Summon! Synchro Tuner – Accel Synchron!"

This Synchro Tuner appeared to be a motorcycle that was half transformed into a robot, riding alongside its' summoner (5/500/2100).

Yusei saw what was coming and responded in kind.

"You were right about my field. And I'll respond with the trap card – Stardust Flash – letting me revive Stardust Dragon!" Yusei spoke up as his dragon appeared again (8/2500/2000).

"Not bad! Then we can keep going! Now - I'll tune my monsters and light the way to our new future! Yusei – remember! You'll call your Accel monster right after mine!" His other said as the two sped up as fast as they could. The two red D-Wheels drove off of a ramp and were suspended over the sea.

Accel Synchron and Jet Warrior merged in the light, the warp in space enveloping both Yuseis even as Formula Synchron began glowing with a white light.

Now they were in a white and pink void, no longer in the previous space on that Earth. In the dimensional space to call forth monsters that transcended regular Synchro monsters.

The other him chanted and Yusei kept pace, readying himself for what would happen next.

"Gathering power that dwells inside my fist, transform into a will that can shatter even steel! Become the path its light shines upon!

Accel Synchro!

Appear, Stardust Warrior!"

The large and powerful Accel Synchro monster's form descended into the rift, it's blue and white frame and highlighted gold details hard to make out in the light (10/3000/2500).

"Yusei! This Duel will have to be open ended! Getting you back home is more important than ending this. Now – go do what you need to save your friends. And I'll do what I can to go beyond my own limits!"

"Yusei! I'll save the future of my world. Please take care of Mother and Father. Give them all my love. And - never stop Dueling if it's your dream." He said to his duplicate.

In the warp already created from Stardust Warrior's summon, Yusei could see the exit back appear. Then – they were almost out of time.

He was taken aback as Stardust Warrior grabbed his own D-Wheel and raised it ahead.

"Stardust Warrior will light the way! Ride on the light created from your Accel Synchro – and return to your world! I'll take care of Mother and Father."

Yusei nodded. It was now or never.

"Clustering crystal dreams open the doorway to a new dimension! Become the path it's light shines upon!"

"ACCEL SYNCHRO!"

Yusei cried out as his own blank card ignited in a spark of orange.

Shooting Star Dragon's summon opened a new space within the warp, a dimensional anomaly that Yusei could confirm lined up with his Father's research.

Then Stardust Warrior hurled him towards the new space – a dark purple light that expanded as Shooting Star Dragon formed right above his speeding D-Wheel (10/3300/2500).

Then Yusei Fudo felt himself vanish from the current dimension.

/

The D-Wheel vanished. As did the space around him. All he knew was the light and the velocity. And the sense that he was going home.

Then there was a roar and Yusei could feel Shooting Star Dragon's power as though it was his own.

The path of light shone and Yusei yelled as he felt a surge of power shine through his entire body. The armor seemed to be lighter and he looked down, now through a dragon's eyes to see he was wearing white and blue armor. He looked to his duel disk, now on his arm as his bike had seemingly vanished. Yusei felt the dragon's presence around him as a seemingly limitless strength flowed through him.

"What – is this?" Yusei asked himself.

"You did it. You found your Clear Mind. Now – reclaim yourself, Yusei."

Then he turned and could see Airo flying beside him, giving him a wink before she vanished. Then – he could see Earth.

The wings on his back steered him as Shooting Star accelerated, approaching Japan at a rapid speed. It was as though he was guided by an invisible thread, sending him back to where he'd left. The speed which he used to return was unnatural. Yusei could only see himself briefly, facing Aki on a rooftop of a skyscraper before he made contact with his own body.
