ANYWAYS

Time for Murderclan everyone

Smokeblaze sighed, cleaning his wounds again. The battle hadn't been catastrophic, luckily, but Eaglestar died and Smokeblaze knew exactly how it had happened. He had seen Shadestar murder her, but what was he to do?

It's not like telling anyone would help. I'm sure that many other cats saw it too. I wonder if Shadestar knew that it was Eaglestar's last life.

Even if he did, he probably didn't care.

Smokeblaze let out a little snort of dry amusement and got to his paws, stretching as he padded outside. His former mentor Graymist was sitting desolately next to a few other cats, an uneaten mouse at his paws. Smokeblaze felt a stab of pity for the gray tom, Reedfeather had been murdered by a Mapleclan cat, an unknown one.

At least, that's what Shadestar said.

Smokeblaze had some reason to suspect Shadestar's story, though he didn't know how else it could've happened, after all, Shadestar wouldn't kill his own warrior, would he?

A small voice began to nag him. He would. He killed his own deputy, Nightfrost told you all about it.

He sighed. Nightfrost must be devastated about the death of her father.

She had told him about what had happened that day that Tigertalon had died, and it had forever skewed Smokeblaze's opinion of Shadestar, not that it was really great in the first place.

Ever since the assessment where Smokeblaze had used his power, the gray leader had shown significantly more interest in him, and it concerned Smokeblaze, those who the leader were interested in often ended up dead nowadays, and Smokeblaze wasn't ready to be the next target.

And what happened with Nightfrost. Great Starclan! Why in Starclan's name was he flirting with her? That's disgusting!

Smokepaw sighed again. Something else that is disgusting is my sister.

Willowface had been jealous of the leader's newfound attention towards Smokeblaze, and though he had tried to explain several times that he had no idea where it was coming from, she only strutted away dramatically like the drama queen that she was.

I mean, what does she want me to say?

Smokeblaze shook his pelt out, suddenly feeling like the camp was too stuffy. It's too crowded in here. I'm going to head out and practice.

He padded out of camp, flicking his thin tail. Even though he was still nervous about using his power, he decided that the only way that he would get better at using it is if he practiced with it more, so that's what he was going to do. He reached a small clearing a little ways from camp, and checked to make sure that no one was behind him before padding into it. It was secluded and small, the perfect place to practice, and there were small rocks and branches littered everywhere that he could practice with.

I'm glad that I found it. Smokeblaze had stumbled upon it while hunting a little bit ago and had sworn to come back to it, he was almost positive that no one else had discovered it either. He focused his attention on a branch, and it lifted into the air almost effortlessly, and Smokeblaze remembered, with a smirk, the first time he had used his power, it seemed so easy now compared to then.

The branch floated around, until Smokeblaze narrowed his eyes. The branch snapped in half and the two severed pieces fell to the ground. Nice.

Suddenly, there was a rustling in the bushes behind him, Smokeblaze whipped around, eyes narrowed, he could take on whoever had found him, but there was no one in the bush.

"Nightfrost?" He called out cautiously.

There was no answer. It must not be her, she always answers. It must just be prey or something.

When he turned around to keep practicing, he didn't see the glint of green eyes from the source of the noise, or hear the quiet noise of a cat backing away slowly.

Time ticked by, and Smokeblaze found that the more he practiced, the better that he got.

Next time I fight Crowtalon, which won't be long, I'll crush him.

The leaves of a nearby tree rustled gently as Smokeblaze's power blew through it gently, and a few leaves drifted to the ground, landing softly and trailing across the ground. Newleaf was on its way, and the prey had begun to come out again already, and Smokeblaze loved the feeling of newleaf, and seeing all the beautiful life that came with it.

Smokeblaze lifted another branch into the air. I mean, greenleaf is way too hot, especially with my dark fur, leaf-fall is right before leaf-bare and it rains a lot, and leaf-bare… well, I haven't met a single cat who likes leaf-bare. I mean, it rains a lot in newleaf too, but I guess that leaf-fall rain is just more annoying.

The branch sailed over the trees and disappeared, and Smokeblaze stretched, realizing that it was already getting closer to sunhigh.

He lifted a rock into the air gently, surprised at how heavy it was. I'll need to get better at lifting these too. This could be really useful during battle.

Suddenly, the rustling from the bushes behind him sounded again, much louder this time.

Smokeblaze spun, his yellow gaze full of alarm. I know that someone's there.

A familiar black pelt slipped out of it's hiding place, and Crowtalon glared at Smokeblaze, triumph shining in his green gaze.

"What do you want?" Smokeblaze spat at him. "You know very well that I have this power. Are you scared for when I beat you again like I did in your assessment?"

A flicker of fear flashed in the black tom's eyes, but it was quickly replaced with a smug certainty. "Not really."

He glanced towards the bush again, and Smokeblaze's heart seemed to stop when he realized that it wasn't just Crowtalon who had discovered him.

Shadestar stepped out, his yellow gaze fixing on Smokeblaze. Smokeblaze gulped, the rock falling to the ground with a dull thump.

Welp nice knowing you Smokeblaze... stay safe, everyone!

Have a good day (or night) and keep writing!
