Foxy woke up in the backroom, darkness surrounded him as he felt a bandage constricting him around his upper chest, pain surged through his body as he tried to move. He raised his arms a little bit feeling bandages wrapped around his upper arms as pain shot through them. The red vulpine grunted as he sat up feeling his entire body burning as if he had a sunburn as he got during a deployment once. He spun himself to the side of the table and slid off barely able to stand as he connected with the floor, soon collapsing as his knees gave out under him. He laid there for a little bit as he gained control over his knees again and tried to stand up, managing to get on one knee as he suffered from agonizing pain when trying to move. Foxy waited a few seconds, panting, as he tried to catch his breath. Soon he grabbed onto the table and just barely pulled himself up to his feet, allowing him to stumble across the room towards the door. The red vulpine opened the door seeing it was late at night, the others had already gone to bed. He remembered that Vixey was injured when he passed out and he fell to his hands and knees as he tried to walk out the room, groaning in pain as he hit the floor. He crawled across the stage feeling the pain running through him with each move he made, his body on fire as he pulled himself along the empty stage, soon collapsing to his chest as he got to the edge.
He panted hard as he tried to recuperate at the end of the stage, soon sitting up and sliding off the stage; instead of falling, he caught himself on the table and used it at a prop as he walked through the main room. Tears filled his eyes with each step from the agonizing soreness his body was suffering, it felt as if his body had been thrown into a fire and pulled back out repeatedly for hours on end. His limbs throbbing as he forced them to move. The red vulpine made it halfway across the room before he fell again. This time he laid there, silently. He had no energy to move anymore, he wanted to give out, the pain was unbearable as he walked. Crawling made him suffer the same agonizing torture as any movement at all made him suffer. Breathing alone made his chest burn like wildfire.
Unwillingly; he pulled his body along the floor as he grunted in pain. With each movement, he felt his body go numb as if he could no longer feel anything like he destroyed the sensors in his body. Foxy managed to pull himself up, still in pain but not suffering near as much. He stumbled across the main room towards the cove, seeing the hole in the wall and the door ripped off the hinges, bent on the floor. The red vulpine dizzily walked across the cove, nearing the bedroom door, he fell against the stage as he got close and had to lean on it for a few seconds to catch his breath, the pain starting up again as he stood there.
Foxy regretfully pulled himself together and opened the door seeing both Vixey and Kimber asleep in the room. Vixey had a large bandage wrapped around her stomach as she laid on the bed unconscious, her chest rising and lowering as she breathed. He stumbled towards the side of the bed slowly, feeling the pain multiply with each step, each breath his chest burning. He fell to one knee, panting hard as he kneeled, grunting silently in pain as he was so close to the bed. He grew light-headed, his vision becoming blurry as he stayed on his knee, soon falling to his side beside the bed. He was exhausted; he had come so close but fell short. He heard Vixey roll over and looked up seeing her looking down at him.
"Foxy," She said softly as she pulled herself off the bed to the floor beside him as he laid down in pain.
He watched her wince in pain as she dropped to the floor and crawl beside him. He wrapped his arm around her waist as she snuggled against his chest on the cold floor.
"Poor Foxy," She cooed as he breathed deeply, feeling the pain melt away as he stayed still on the floor, a tear strolling down his face from relief.
He felt her rub his arm and chest, running her hands over the bandages slowly as he laid there with his eyes closed.
"You finally broke yourself," She said softly, nearly unable to finish the sentence as she hugged him tightly, causing him to feel the burning start up again, but he didn't care.
"I'm sorry," He told her with a sigh as he held her, feeling over the bandage that wrapped around her.
"So this is how it felt for you," She said with a slight laugh which was cut short as she winced in pain.
"Yeah, welcome to the club," He replied as he leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.
"I meant about when you got shot," She told him causing him to sigh as he leaned his head against hers.
"Every second I was in that hospital with that bandage wrapped around me; I wished I could have talked with you. I regret, and still regret, ever becoming special forces," He admitted to her as he laid there. "I feel as if I hadn't had ever done that we wouldn't be here."
"I thought that was your greatest achievement," She said in shock as she looked up at him.
"My greatest achievement was our daughter, then marrying you," He told her with a smile as pain swelled up in his chest with each breath. "That title meant nothing to me. All it did was keep me away from both you and her… Now, we're both battered and beaten, laying on a cold floor, barely unable to move at all. I fought hard to keep both of you safe, instead, I got us all killed," He continued, beginning to tear up at the end as she stared at him.
She pulled herself up to his face and kissed him before pulling back and resting her head against his as he began crying, leaning against her shoulder. He finally broke, after everything he's done or experienced; he finally broke. Foxy soaked her fur with tears as she pet the back of his head, letting him open up for the first time since forever. He felt relieved as he let go finally, he felt as if he finally came to terms with his actions. Vixey scratched his back lightly as he cried trying to comfort him as he realized how much harm he's done to himself and his family. Even though he never harmed them directly, or he never was the person who caused it, he felt guilty for it. Mistakes he didn't even make haunted him. He felt Vixey raise the eye patch, he looked at her face not seeing the red light. He looked in her eye seeing the reflection of a black eye with a white iris. The fiery eye of the hell-fox was gone, his anger once restless, was finally gone. Calmness filled him as he managed to stop crying, looking at Vixey's eyes. She caressed his cheek as she stared at him, he leaned forward kissing her back as they laid on the floor. He pulled back with a smile as she continued looking at him silently.
"Thank you," He told her as she hugged him, resting her head against his.
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight against him as they laid there throughout the silent night, both unable to move due to their injuries. He thought about the blonde man, there was no point in trying to kill him. If he did kill him he'd leave that girl fatherless, something he'd never wish upon anyone seeing as his father wasn't much of one, grant it her father probably isn't much either. He felt Vixey try and get comfortable so he used anything he had left to stand up, carrying her with him, and put her on the bed to her shock. He crawled up onto the bed and collapsed on his side, beside her, full of pain once again as he panted trying to relax again.
"Thank you," She replied with a smile making him chuckle as he wrapped his arm around her waist once again, pulling himself closer to her so he didn't hurt her.
"You're welcome," He told her as he kissed her again, soon pulling back and resting his head against hers.
"I love you," She told him as he sighed in relief from the pain going away again.
"I love you too," He replied as he closed his eyes and began falling asleep.
