Author's note:
I find that I have to remind myself these aren't my characters- I suppose they are in this tiny bubble of a fanfiction, but outside of this they are Vanripper's. It' surprisingly hard to write about another person's creation.
Also, we have reached a 100 follower milestone, we currently have 85 favourites and over 18k total views. It is an incredible indescribable feeling; knowing that so many people are interested and looking forward to future chapters.
Are Lucifer and Satan the same person? I always get confused with the two names.
Chapter 28: True Intentions
"Cerberus, please don't make me run after you again" a tired voice called after the three demons as they ran along the dry morning sand. "Please!" the man shouted, before he slowed his pace to match his demon's. His head was throbbing, he should have drank some water before he left this morning. "Why did you drag me out here Zdrada?" the man looked over to his right, "You are more than capable of walking Cerberus on your own". Zdrada had restocked her pocket dimension supply of cigarettes, manifesting one as they walked, clicking her fingers to light it.
"You needed the fresh air dude" she took a drag, blowing the thick smoke into his face. "Yeah, fresh air my ass" he kicked a piece of driftwood out of his path while fanning smoke away from his face. "You should have let me lay there, I feel awful", he looked it too. "How long did you lot stay up playing that stupid boardgame anyway?" Zdrada felt sick at the thought of playing such a lengthy game. "God, you think I remember? As soon as the alcohol started flowing it all became a blur.." he paused, struggling to remember. "I definitely remember Lucifer calling me a braindead mule for not healing her, all she did was turn invisible and take all the loot-" Zdrada had to stop him before he continued. "Yeah, I don't actually care dude".
He continued anyway; "Then Malina and Azazel both were trying to finish this dungeon while me and Lucifer were-" "Okay! I said I didn't care!" Zdrada almost shoved the man over, she looked in anger at his stupid smile that he so easily made. "Fuck you" the Bitch Demon knew he could annoy her even when he was hungover and tired. She turned to look away from him, watching Cerberus inspect a cave in the cliff side. "Well what did you do last night?" he asked, trying to make idle conversation as they walked along the sand.
"Boring demon stuff" she smiled, remembering spending hours last night adding photos to the scrapbook. "Maybe you should ask the two prosecutors what they got up to last night instead?" Zdrada recollected being asked by Justice to order them a taxi, they have their own phones why didn't they order their own damn taxi? "Why what did they do?" the man asked rubbing the back of his head, "Ooooh, apparently it got messy. You gonna have to give them a word if you're laying down the law now". "You know we have to be more careful Zdrada, I'm not 'laying down the law' here, just putting precautions in place".
He pointed with his large index finger at the three demonic dogs exiting the cave, "Those three have been driving me up the wall, they haven't been on a walk in under a week", he felt Zdrada interlock her hand with his, her right hand with the black bracelet that reached down to her fingers brushed against his wrist. "Yeah, I heard that you imposed a curfew. Those three are trouble". "You are all trouble Zdrada" he gave her hand a playful squeeze. "Well, you can always go kill yourself, we won't be trouble to you then". "Ha, nice joke. If it only it was that simple" he chuckled, Zdrada not understanding the full meaning of this, simply shrugging it off. "Do you ever take these off?" he gently felt her black bracelets with his other hand. "No, why would I?".
She lifted her left arm and gave the man a better look at her small black bracelet on her wrist. It was a thick black accessory, made of what seemed to be a leathery material. It covered all of her wrist, he used to wear something similar to it when he was a teenager. "Well, what about the other one? Surely that one chafes" he gestured to the bigger black bracelet. This one was even thicker, it covered almost all of her forearm up to her fingers and the start of her knuckle. It had padding on the outer side of her arm, small lines, almost like straps acted as the padding. At the top, there was a small gap which showed the skin on the back of her hand.
The Helltaker always felt that she was hiding something underneath it, but he didn't want to pry. "What are they even made of?" he never thought to ask, "I have no clue, wanna guess who gave them to me?". He hesitated, but his gut guided him to the right answer. "Was it... Lucifer?". "Well, well, well, turns out you are handsome and smart" she paused on purpose. "Actually, maybe not handsome...and maybe not even smart now I think about it".
"Trash talking ain't gonna get you far in this life little one", he whistled and Cerberus came running back to them, they had run off too far. "Stay close", he noticed one Cerberus had a stick in her mouth, "Cerberus drop!" he commanded, the demon in question obeying. "Please don't put anything like this in you mouth again" he picked up the dry sandy stick and threw it as far as he could into the sea. "You don't know where it has been. I don't want you getting sick...again". There were moans of disappointment and sadness from the three demons, their ears now drooped to the side. "Look if you really want me to buy you something I can throw like a stick, just say!" he protested upon hearing their moans.
"YES! Buy us toys!" they beamed, two voices speaking as one, while the middle Cerberus was busy removing sand from her mouth and tongue. "Balls" one Cerberus said, "What about bones?" the other said, the middle Cerberus simply coughed still wiping her tongue, unable to speak. He couldn't believe that they wanted dog toys...to play fetch. He turned to look at the demon on his right, she was covering her mouth and sniggering, she held her cigarette inbetween her index and middle finger but she wasn't smoking it.
"Well behave and we'll see", he turned back but the three were already running off satisfied by his answer, going to explore, the last one struggling to keep up. He let loose a relieved sigh, turning to his demon, he noticed that they still had their hands interlocked. "Since when were you a sucker for holding hands" he held up their two hands. "Shut up pussy, gotta get my share of affection when I can".
"Alright, nobody touch the boardgame! We haven't even scratched the surface, we don't need someone messing it up" he addressed the room. "Drinks on the smaller tables please" he sat down on the sofa, Lucifer, Cerberus, Modeus the two demon sisters, Azazel and Judgement were sat around the lounge. "Whatever big guy, I don't care about your stupid game anyway" Judgement said coming over to the sofa, she was nursing her hangover, drinking a cold glass of milk. "Finally someone else agrees" Zdrada gave the middle finger to the Helltaker. "Fuck you nerds".
"Me and Malina have almost completed the first dungeon...but we are running out of cards" Azazel was sat cross legged behind the coffee table reading the rules of the boardgame, she beamed with her eyes closed at Judgement, "Yeah, I don't care Az". The grey demon didn't even bother looking up, she was laying across the sofa. The high prosecutor was taking up the majority of the space, Modeus was sat on the other side of him, but she was too enthralled by her book to cuddle.
"Where is Justice?" he looked down at the grey demon who was resting her head on his leg, using him as a pillow...again. "Ah, voice down please" Judgement winced when his loud voice made her head throb. "She is upstairs, most likely hungover trying to sleep", Judgement was wearing her thin black fluffy robe and black cotton shorts, she was trying to get as comfortable as possible. "I heard you two had quite the night anyway" he stared at the TV, then down at the demon on his lap. "Oh, don't start. What did else did you hear?" the demon was growing nervous, she didn't move her head but those groggy white eyes met with his.
"Good and bad things, never thought you two would want to go on a bar crawl" he smiled, "We were going to tell you!". "Judgement, it's okay. You didn't get into any trouble, did you?". The grey demon sighed deeply, "Apparently she knocked someone the fuck out" Zdrada laughed, causing Judgement to become flushed with embarrassment. "It's not like that, I was drunk-" she protested, "Don't worry J, you could have done much worse...I know I have". He paused, "Just tell me next time you decide to paint the town red" the man joking, only increasing the anxiety of the high prosecutor.
"We didn't-" a loud groan came from her grey muscular stomach, the demon moving her hands down to it, trying to muffle it. "Ha, when did you eat last?" he smiled down to the high prosecutor, wincing slightly when she turned her head to become more comfortable, her sharp horns digging into him. "Dinner last night".
"Alright, fine. I'll go make you-" he looked at the other demons quickly, "I'll make you all breakfast. I can hear your stomach rumbling from here Lucy" a collective pleasant sigh was heard. "I already ate" the devil didn't look up as he walked past, "Yeah, I'm sure that once you smell the chocolate you'll come running" he smirked, receiving a scoff from the devil as he went to retrieve his apron. He began opening cupboards searching for the required ingredients.
He heard footsteps approaching from behind him, a pair of hands then placed themselves around his waist, hugging him from behind. He sighed pleasantly, looking straight ahead. "I want to think that it's Malina, but she never initiates a hug and I can hear her gaming. My gut tells me it's Justice" he paused briefly, "But, I'm going to take a chance and say it is B". He took hold of the hands without looking down, holding them in position and rotating himself to face the demon.
"Correct answer smart guy" the demon smiled at him, embracing the big man. "Are you alright?", "Of course I am, I-" he pulled away and didn't let her finish. "Where have you been for like two days?" he had turned around now, resuming his search for the ingredients. "The last time we talked was-" he stopped, realising where she had been. He quickly turned back around to face her, "Mantus's soul-" a red gloved finger was placed on his lips. "Shhh" Beelzebub was afraid that the other demons might hear.
"What do you mean shhh, they need to know what you have done" he looked at her, a huge smile growing across his face. "That you have done the right thing" he was beaming now, "I'm really proud of you", Beelzebub blushing in response. As he was layering on the praise, he looked behind The Queen of Crimson, seeing an even greater Queen approaching. "I'm glad you listened to me", he turned to begin making breakfast once more. "Yeah, I'm glad you listened to him" the devil's voice joined the conversation. "Rather than yourself". Beelzebub's pleasure at his praise turned to disgust and shock.
"You knew about Mantus's soul?", "Beelzebub, I'm the Queen of Hell. I hear everything" she smirked, walking over to lean on the counter-top next to the pancake chef. "Actually-" he began, "No, shhh!" the devil quietened the man, placing a hand on his big arm. "Let her think I'm omniscience for a little longer". "YOU told her?!" Beelzebub became even more shocked, crossing her arms and staring at the man now. "How could I not Beel? I had to tell her, just in case- Don't look at me like that!" he caught Beelzebub's gaze in the corner of his eye. "He did the right thing, so did-" Lucifer hesitated, "So did you...for once. It's been centuries since you have done the right thing".
"Centuries?" the mortal asked the two immortals, "Surely not?". "No, she's right. If I remember correctly... I simply walked away". "I don't believe it" he chuckled, spilling flour on his apron as he wasn't paying attention. "No, she is right" Lucifer nodded, "Well I'm glad you two are starting to agree with one another again". The two Queens locked eyes, they still had a long way to go before trust was even possible. "Don't get used to it, I'll kill her whenever she turns her back" Lucifer giggled, the Helltaker was now slightly concerned. "I'll kill HER while she sleeps" Beelzebub laughed back, covering her mouth.

And you're caught in the middle.
You fool of a man.
"Now now Lucy, I just came by to check up on things" the grandiose voice echoed throughout the throne room, an army of Hell Knights had surrounded her in a large circle, their halberds all pointed at her. She could not move or else she would be impaled. Within the room, Lucifer and Pandemonica were behind her giant desk, the two hadn't spoken upon her arrival. The Tired Demon was unsure as of what to do, or say, thankfully it was Lucifer who broke the silence. "Where is Justice?" she whispered, "Currently out with the other prosecutors, they have been tracking the remaining Titans for some time". "Of course, how could I forget", the devil sighed deeply.
"Monica, what do you think I should do here? You have been my trusted advisor and friend for centuries" Pandemonica could tell she was holding back from what she truly wanted to do, Lucifer would usually execute an enemy on the spot, personally. However, Lucifer must have been so tired of her nemesis surviving execution, after assassination, after hit, after bounty hunters, after-It doesn't matter...
Maybe...Just maybe, it was time to take the moral high ground.
"Permission to speak freely, Your Highness?" Pandemonica demanifested her notepad and brushed her hands clean. "Always", Lucifer's eyes did not break from the icy gaze she was maintaining with Beelzebub. "I think this time, instead of a show of strength. We simply turn her away, we both know that all she intends to do is get under your skin" she paused. "Bestowing your 'mercy' on her". "The moral high ground" the devil smirked, thinking exactly the same as her assistant, the same smirk appearing on her assistant's face. "Have a portal ready, just in case she tries anything". "Of course, Your Highness".
"Can we please dispense of these formalities?" the younger Beelzebub smiled, stepping slowly towards a Hell Knight's halberd and moved it's pointed blade to one side with her fingers. The undead servant growled, his dry dead voice a deep and raspy sound. "After all it's been ages since we talked my dear". Pandemonica was right, the devil knew she was purely here to antagonize her. The Queen clicked her fingers, the sound echoing throughout the throne room. All Hell Knights who were currently surrounding The Great Fly now stood to attention, a neutral stance, halberds at their side. The two Hell Knights in front of Beelzebub moved aside, allowing her to walk up the stairs towards the devil's desk.
"Forgive me Beel, but last time we talked you made an attempt on my life" the devil's voice dripping with venom, "The fact that you are still alive...standing in MY throne room, is simply because I allow it". The devil rose from her throne, making sure she didn't let Beelzebub out of her sight. "Hey Monica, still a lap dog?" the intruder turned to look at the assistant, Pandemonica did not reply, "Jeez, tough crowd". "I'm still alive my dear because you can't kill me, you have failed time and time again" she looked down and adjusted the silver fly brooch on her lapel.
"Say, what you have come to say...Now!", ignoring her previous remark. Lucifer's red eyes were reflecting the bright hellfire emanating from the torches around the room. "I didn't come to say anything! I just wanted to chat Lucy, like the good old days" that evil smirk was growing.
"How are the two daughters, hey?" the demon put her hands in the blazer's pockets, returning to look across the desk at Lucifer. The devil was stunned, panic was beginning to set in. "How di-d yo-" the devil stuttered, "Oh Lucy, you think you could hide those little 'Angels' from me?" chuckling to herself at how worried Lucifer had become.
There it was, another threat, this one was not an empty one.
Beelzebub knew about the sisters...
The devil saw red..."Your Majesty, think logically" she heard Pandemonica's voice, but she didn't care. Beelzebub would threaten her no more.
"You dare touch them...you will know an eternity of pain...by my hand"
...
..
.
The devil's voice was not her own, it was menacing, scary, deep, it was pure evil. Beelzebub knew she had pushed the right buttons. She knew the devil's weaknesses, inside and out.
"You are never to set foot into Hell again. My prosecutor's will hunt you to the ends of existence. This realm banishes you"
Beelzebub smiled, she was fucking smiling. "Ah, Lucy, can't ever contain that temper can you?". She took a step back from the desk, "I'll take that as my cue to leave, be seeing you, I'll take that portal to go Monica". She turned her back on the two demons, walking away and into the portal Pandemonica had manifested for her.
"That couldn't have come at a better time...thank you" the devil finally relaxed, once Beelzebub had left, slumping into her chair. "Where did you send her?", "The molten fields, just like you said". "Brilliant, let's hope she does us all a favour and stays there", "Here's hoping, Your Highness". "Monica, I know you like to keep things formal, but I'd prefer it if you'd call me Lucy from now on.. yes that's an order, don't give me that look". The devil rubbed her forehead, closing her eyes and sighing deeply, "You were right, she came her purely to get under my skin...She succeeded" Lucifer admitted. "Notify me as soon as the prosecutors return, I want you to assign two of them to accompany the sisters at ALL times"
"Of course Your Hi- Lucy, anything else?" the demon manifested her notepad and began writing.
"Get me a strong drink...please"
"Cerberus I told you not to eat too much, you don't know your own greed" he sighed seeing the three demons moaning and holding their stomach's. It was true, just like three greedy Labradors, they had snuck into the large fridge and ate anything sweet they could find. This was before he had made them breakfast. "Reminds me of the barbecue we had last summer" he chuckled, "We should have another one before these warm months end". He was practically speaking to himself at this point, Cerberus was too incapacitated to speak, Modeus and Lucifer were both reading, Malina was playing her video games. The rest of the family were no where to be seen. He realised this and sighed, it was a thankless job sometimes.
"Guessing you don't want your pancakes then?", he received only groans as a reply. "Alright then, I'll reprimand you later. I'm going to finish making-" he returned to the kitchen. Who's pancakes hadn't he made? Who was he missing? He had made everyone's pancakes, right? All of a sudden, orange light was spilling from the hallway, he leant his head out of the doorway and peered out of the kitchen. Where was this light coming from?
"Ah, there is my favorite coffee addict" the man smiled, he watched as the demon exited the portal that had appeared on the wall supporting the stairs, she almost collapsed into the kitchen chair, resting her head on her arms. "Coffee, now..." she begged, moaning into the table. "Already on it" he had automatically started the machine once he saw Pandemonica enter. "Tough day at work?"
All he received in reply was a groan, "Don't, just don't". "Well, you are just in time for some breakfast", he had already fed the rest of the demons in the household, Justice was still asleep when he placed a plate of pancakes in her room. "Breakfast?!" Pandemonica's tired eyes struggled to meet his. "Yeah, I-" he chuckled, looking down at his frying pan, "I've made one shaped like your face". He moved the frying pan to show her, Pandemonica looked into it unamused. "Don't you think?". His positivity was too much for her right now. "Coffee!" she snapped, "Okay, Okay!".
"How long was I down there for?" the Tired Demon asked, not looking up. "You left yesterday", he went to retrieve her white mug. "It feels like weeks", she put a black gloved hand on her forehead. "Probably because that is how long it has been Monica", remembering the time difference between the two realms. "Here, drink up".
He placed the mug in front of her, watching the Tired Demon beginning to transform. "So how was work?" he placed the three pancakes onto a warm plate, putting the plate in front of her. He received no reply as he watched the demon devour her coffee and the pancakes soon after, her empty gaze meeting his as she ate. "Well, if you don't tell me. I'll surely find out when we go out later", "We?". He smiled upon hearing that, he was now cleaning the utensils in the sink, turning his head, giving Zdrada a nod as she entered the room.
As usual, she blew smoke into his face, it was tradition at this point. "You could at least smoke by the window...not in my face", he was slightly fed up of the taste it kept leaving in his mouth. She laughed, "That's a good one" she began searching her cupboard, retrieving some more flavourings for her vape. "I bought those for you, but I haven't seen you use them yet", "You haven't been looking hard enough dumbass". Zdrada turned to look behind her, failing to notice the sadistic demon who was sat at the kitchen table. Pandemonica smirked at The Bitch Demon, it was a cruel, sadistic one. One that can command anyone who has experienced her wrath. The Helltaker wasn't aware of the look the two demons exchanged. Zdrada took this as her cue to move to the window, smoking out of it and spitting phlegm onto the gravel below.
"Uhm, have you done something to her? She never smokes out of the window" he glanced over at the back of Zdrada and then at the Sadistic Demon. "No, but if she stays a good girl...I might". Oh boy. Zdrada heard this, laughing nervously and saying; "Very funny!", why was she so nervous? Was this her kink? "Alright, I'm going to leave now and shower. Monica, when you're ready, let me know and we can go on that coffee date".
The Sadistic Demon adjusted her glasses and smiled, not a smirk, a warm smile.
"Are you buying?".
"Of course Monica"
"About time"...
I would like to apologise:
This chapter for some reason, was extremely difficult to write. Much better and more well written ones are on the way.
