Chapter 26

If there was one thing Skye loved most about being a princess it was that she got to attend the Royal Banquet. No it wasn't because she got to eat an ungodly amount of little desserts but because once a year she was the complete and utter center of attention.

Every year Corona hosted the event, because of this they always needed some form of entertainment and because Rapunzel was Skyes mom, Skye took up dancing and guitar lessons.

So every year Skye would sing, dance, and play guitar for the guests. All night people would shower her with complements even her family would always say how impressed they were.

"Ready for tonight." Liana said helping Skye put the finishing touches on her hair. It was a small braid that hung in the back while the rest of her hair was down with little flowers tucked in.

"More than ever tonight is Skyes night." Skye said her eyes filled with excitement. "Yes it is." Liana giggled. "There all done." Liana said placing her hands on Skyes shoulders.

"Perfect." Skye said twirling around to look at it. "You look beautiful, now come help me with my dress." Lianas said pointing at the zipper she couldn't reach.

"I always forget how fancy your dresses are." Skye said zipping up Liana. "Yeah well when you wear training clothes all day you really need to make a statement at big events like these." Liana said putting her hair into a braided crown bun.

Skye was wearing a beautiful blue and white ball gown Rapunzel had picked out because she said it looked like the sky which made Skye laugh. Liana was wearing a stunning red ball gown with thin lace sleeves.

"Girls are you ready." Rapunzel said said knocking on the door. She was wearing a purple and light gold ball gown. "Yeah!" Liana called from inside. Rapunzel opened the door and gasped. "What!" Skye said looking around.

"Your girls look amazing." Rapunzel said feeling a small tear appear in her eye but wiped it away quickly. "Mom we look the same we do any other ball." Liana said putting back on her frying pan necklace she had tooken off to shower.

"It feels like just yesterday you two were meeting for the first time." Rapunzel said putting her hands on her heart. "Aww mom." Skye said giving Rapunzel a hug.

"I hate to intrupt this wonderful moment but the banquet is about to start." Eugene said standing in the doorway. "We're coming." Rapunzel nodded to Eugene. "Oh wait Liana dress up." Rapunzel said turning around.

"What why." Liana said stopping. "Dress up." Rapunzel crossing her arms. Liana huffed and lifted her dress up to reveal her bare feet. "Just as I thought, shoes Liana." Rapunzel said leaving.

"You know I train guards without shoes I should be able to attend a banquet without them!" Liana called as she grabbed a pair of heels. "Just put on the shoes Li!" Rapunzel called back laughing at her daughter's comment.

"Excuse me, May I have everyone's attention." Arianna said tapping on her wine glass. "I'm so glad everyone could attend now if you would please turn your attention to my granddaughter, she will be performing through the night."

Everyone look up at Skye. The plantform on where the thrones usually were had been moved to make room for tha band and Skye to perform. As the room became quiet Skye began singing.

The room stood still and Skyes voice filled the room. Even though she was only ten her voice was almost angelic. Finally her song ended and the room erupted into applause. Skye bowed and the room filled back up with the sound of people talking and classical music.

"Oh Skye that was wonderful." Liana said hugging her sister. "Nice job Skye." Lucas said high-fiving her. "I think that will be the only good thing to come out of tonight." Flynn said eating a small pastry.

"Aw thanks guys." Skye said blushing. Liana smirked and pulled all of her siblings into a group hug. "I love you guys." Liana whispered.

"Same." Flynn said smiling. Skye and Lucas didn't say anything but hugged their siblings tighter. Soon the hug broke and they all split up. Rapunzel and Eugene who had seen the whole thing from a distant smiled.

It was rare for them to spend a moment all togther without a fight breaking out but when those moments did happen they were truly something special to see.

Liana had been talking to Derick who was restocking the small platters of food from the kitchen. "Come on just one dance." Liana begged giving Derick puppy dog eyes.

"Li, don't do that you know I can't." Derick said spinning Liana around. "I'll dance with you." Thomas said walking up behind Liana.

"Oh you don't have to." Liana said turning around. "No I insist." Thomas said reaching his hand out. "Ok." Liana said reluctantly taking Thomas's hand.

The two began to dance as the sound of Skye playing guitar filled the room. "You clean up nice." Thomas said smiling at her. "Thank you, you look nice as well." Liana said making eye contact for a quick second.

"Though I must say you need better help with picking out jewelry." Thomas said spinning her around. "My dad got me this for my seventh birthday." Liana said touching her necklace for a quick second.

"Why is it a frying pan and a sun wouldn't you have preferred a pear or something." Thomas said looking back down at it. "It's a frying pan because it represents something my dad and I bond over, and the sun has an inscription on the back." Liana said letting Thomas dip her.

"What's the inscription?" Thomas asked pulling her back up. "The real captain of the guard." Liana said ending her and Thomas's dance. "How could you be the guard when you were seven." Thomas said standing still.

"Because I've been training those guards since I was born. Liana said holding her necklace in her hand. Thomas looked down scared he had offended her. "Thank you for the dance." Liana said curtsying.

"Y-Yeah of course." Thomas stammered. Liana straightend her dress and walked off, Thomas watched as she walked off he saw her rush up to Derick and give him a kiss.

There it was the feeling he had when he first had saw her train but he wasn't jealous of her this time he was jealous of Derick, jealous that Derick some common castle servent has stolen the heart of a the beautifulest princess he had ever met.

He knew she couldn't stand him and in her defense he was a jerk to her, he did think he was better but he decided then as he watched Derick make her laugh and smile that he would make Liana his.
