"Hey, Sonic! Will you join my club?"

Shadow lifted his head from where he had been resting it on top of his desk for the past five minutes. It was almost the end of the period and they had all just finished a test. Now they were all just wasting time. "They" being him, Honest, Sonic, Amy, and Blaze. Everyone except for Shadow was standing at the side of the classroom by a window.

"Sure!" Sonic said, sounding pretty enthused. "Do you have a cool club room?"

Honest was smiling ear-to-ear. Well, not literally or else that would've looked scary seeing as though Sonic characters' ears were on the top of their heads. "Yep!" she exclaimed. "It's in the old school building. Top floor!"

Suddenly Sonic's eyes widened. "Wait. The 'old school building'?"

Honest tilted her head, now confused. "Yeah. You know- the ancient-looking building near the long building with all the career-centered classes?"

"Don't you know that building's haunted?"

Shadow suddenly stood up and was beside Honest in no time at all. He crossed his arms and looked at the severely shaken blue pineapple. "Haunted? Like… by ghosts?"

Blaze nodded, looking troubled as well. "Everybody talks about it," she told him, crossing her arms. "You mean to say you both have never heard about it?"

Shadow and Honest shook their heads in complete unison. "Never," they both said.

"Actually," Amy said, chiming in now. "I've heard rumors about ghosts appearing there pretty recently."

"Exactly, though. They're just rumors. Ghosts aren't real anyway," Shadow spoke.

"But it's true!" Sonic exclaimed, sounding like Silver. "You've been to the club room," Sonic said, pointing at Honest. "Haven't you heard strange noises there that you can't explain?"

Honest shook her head slowly.

"People have even heard a voice there telling them to leave!" Amy shouted.

"Shh!" Ms. Vanilla was standing at the podium with a finger over her lips.

"Sorry…" they all whispered.

Shadow put a similar finger to his chin. "I mean, a voice is pretty solid evidence."

"Maybe the ghosts only come out at night, and that's why I've never encountered anything," Honest said, thinking as well. Eventually she clapped her hands together.

"Okay, then! We can all go there and see if we can find out what's going on. Maybe it's Boos again. What do you think?" Honest put her fists on her hips as if she were preparing to blast off as Honest the Super Cat.

Shadow stared at her blankly. "Wait, huh?".

"That's a great idea, Honest!" "I love scary things!"

"Will you come, Shadow?" she turned to him excitedly.

"Well…" Shadow thought. It was then that he realized the look Sonic was giving him.

"You're not scared of ghosts. Are you, Shadster?"

He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Of course not. I'm going."

"Do you believe in ghosts?" Honest asked.

"Spirits? No. Boos? Yes. Unless… Knuckles was hallucinating… but then again they were in X."

Honest nodded. Yeah. Knuckles could have definitely been tripping on something in SA2 when he saw King Boom Boo and the Boos, but they showed up again in X, so there was no doubt that they existed.

"I don't think they're Boos," Amy said. "Boos don't… talk, right?"

"Right," Honest said. "Maybe it's Blaze visiting us from beyond the grave."

"Okay, now that really doesn't make sense," Blaze said, a vein appearing on her forehead. "I'm right here."

"But you died," Amy said. "In '06. Well, technically you didn't die. You were sealed away in another dimension with Iblis."

"No," Honest corrected her. "At the end of the Final Story, when the princess and Sonic blew out the flames of disaster, it made it to where none of what happened in Silver's Story really happened." When everyone looked at her, Honest crossed her arms. "I was just being silly."

After some silence, Shadow spoke up. "When are we going to investigate?"

"After seven would be okay. What about you guys?" Blaze asked.

"This is literally my life, so I'm free," Honest said, laughing.

Sonic was laughing, too. He pointed to Shadow who was standing there crossing his arms. "Any excuse to see Shadow here crying over squeaking floors and bats."

"There aren't any bats in the old building," Honest told him. Sonic pretended not to hear her.

"Well, I was going on a date with Sonic this afternoon, but I think we can reschedule," Amy said, clasping her hands together dreamily.

"You're not having a date with Sonic," Blaze told her.

Amy sighed and hung her arms. "I know. You don't have to rub it in..."

"Then, it's settled!" Honest said, drawing attention to herself by jumping. "We're going to be ghost hunters!"

Upon entering the building, everybody pooled at the door. It was Sonic who stepped in first. "So, this is the old building?" He observed the tattered posters picturing decades-old dance teams hanging from the walls in the entranceway. "It feels empty."

As they started making their way down the quiet hallways, Honest led in the front, her hands cupped around her mouth. "Hey!" Blaze seemed nervous as she clutched Amy's arm, the latter appearing contrastingly calm while glancing questioningly at every locker they passed. "Mr. Ghost! Are you home?"

"Ho-Honest? You kn-know you don't have to c-c-call out to them…" Blaze stammered, not really wanting to find a ghost.

I don't blame you, Princess, Shadow was thinking. I really don't want to come in contact with a ghost either if I don't have to.

Suddenly something stirred next to Blaze's foot, and she freaked out, diving onto Amy. "AAAAAH!" Shadow charged a Chaos spear, ready to fling it at whatever it was.

"Calm down, Blaze!" Amy exclaimed, stopping and turning around. Everyone else did, too.

"Look, Blaze. It was just a mouse." Sonic pointed. A tiny, white rodent was skittering in the opposite direction, diving under a stack of boxes about six meters away.

"You all right, Blaze?" Honest asked. "Cats shouldn't be scared of mice."

"Y-Y-Yeah," Blaze stuttered, gulping. "But- But I thought it was the ghost."

"Hey, you know it's not that big of a deal," Sonic said in an effort to reassure her.

"All this talk about ghosts is just a rumor," Amy told her. "If you want to leave, you can go ahead-"

Clack.

Amy froze. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah…" Sonic turned to look. "It sounded like it came from there…" They looked towards the door of a classroom near them. The creaking of footsteps on the weathered flooring resounded from within that room.

"Wait… someone is approaching the door!" Honest exclaimed while pointing a shaky finger towards it.

"No way… This couldn't be an actual ghost." Shadow was suddenly terrified. Is this a real ghost?

The glass in the door was shattered, so it was impossible to see what was within the classroom. What if it were a bloodthirsty murderer getting ready to ambush them? They had to do something.

With a groan from the ancient hinges, the door was opened.

Shadow came charging forward, pulling a green emerald from his spines and holding it above his head with one hand, holding the other out in front of him probably to block the incoming threat. "Everybody! Run away or take cover!"

However, nobody was moving. Soon Shadow lowered his hand. "Huh?"

"Shadow, stop!" Honest exclaimed. Sonic looked confused.

"Rosy?" Shadow put the emerald back in his spines quickly. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know it was-"

"Shadow…" Rosy mumbled. She looked troubled as she stood there stiffly after stepping out into the hallway. "I want…"

Shadow looked confused. Then, he was hit by something large and slung to the floor. "To smash Sonics!" Total rage filled Rosy's eyes but as soon as Honest approached, something snapped and she looked up.

"Rosy!" Honest was yelling. She ran over to her. Shadow was lying still on the floor, probably in dire pain. Rosy's hammer disappeared in a puff of smoke. "What are you doing here?"

The pink hedgehog regarded her with a calm expression. "Honest, I came here because there are a lot of old books here, and I wanted to read them." That was when they noticed that the room she had emerged from had a sign hanging outside. It read "Library".

"Oh," Honest said, feeling dumb now after being so scared of nothing.

"And what are you doing here, Honest? And with so many..." Rosy turned to inspect the crowd of Sonic characters standing behind her with a worried expression. "...people?"

"Hey, Honest," Amy said, getting her attention. She spun around. Blaze pointed.

"That girl… she looks like Amy. Is she a recolor?"

"No!" Honest told her, laughing. "This is Rosy- er, Anti-Amy. She's our friend."

"Yeah," Sonic agreed. Amy laughed a little too loudly and pet Rosy's head.

"Yeah! She's like my little sister!" Rosy narrowed her eyes, visibly annoyed by her behavior.

Sonic glanced nervously at Shadow. He looked unconscious. "Is Shadow going to be okay?"

Amy ignored him. "Isn't she cute?" Blaze looked at her sideways.

"Aren't our Moebius counterparts evil?" she asked, confused.

Suddenly something caught Rosy's attention and she slipped out of Amy's grasp.

"What's wrong, Rosy?" Honest asked, noticing that she was now behind them.

"Something's here…" "Huh?"

"'Something'? What 'something'?" Amy asked.

The front door was open. A figure stepped out.

"You!" Blaze jumped.

The hallway was bathed in a warm, red glow. "What are you all doing here so late at night?"

It was Infinite. He was stood there at the entrance to the building with one arm crossed across his chest and the other placed at the front of his mask. "School regulations state that there is no trespassing on school grounds after 6!"

"Aw, it's just Infy," Honest remarked in a solemn manner.

"What's that supposed to mean? Also… Don't call me that!" Infinite exclaimed.

"You too, Blaze! What are you doing!?" Infinite said next, turning to the mauve cat shivering as she hid behind Amy. "You're an officer of the student council, too!"

"I-I'm sorry…"

Sonic laughed nervously. "Ahahaha.. I was a little scared there."

"It wasn't really a ghost after all," Amy said, laughing as well. Rosy wasn't so convinced yet, though. She was still staring down the hallway as if searching for some sort of sketchy detail they had missed.

"Leave..."

Amy stopped. "Huh?"

Suddenly they all could hear a disembodied voice echoing around them saying "leave" just like what people had rumored to have heard while there in the building.

"Sha-Shadow! Quit calling out with a spooky voice! I'm not so dumb that I would actually fall for such a horrible prank!" Infinite exclaimed, accusing Shadow of something he wasn't doing.

"But I'm not doing a spooky voice!" Shadow yelled, upset that he would accuse him of pulling a prank like that at a time like this. "Sonic! This isn't funny!" Shadow pointed. Sonic just sweated and shook his hands.

"No, no! I didn't-"

"Leave..."

Blaze's teeth were chattering.

"And what if we don't want to?" Honest yelled out to the ghost. Laughing echoed down the hallway. Where was it coming from?

"If you don't, then…"

The flooring suddenly shattered, collapsing beneath them.

Spooky! Consider this a gift for those of you who stuck with this story all the way through. It's going to be multiple parts. I hope you appreciate the characters I chose for this. :3
