The crowd screamed as the watched this once extinct creature circle the arena, focused on Vordugan. The separated Team Natsu all had the same thought, "That can't be him...right?" They had all see Natsu's dragon form, and this was looked almost identical. But the eyes. The eyes were cold and not the usual dark and warm eyes that they were. These eyes were dull, only dark from a lack of color, not his shining Onyx eyes.
This could have been any red dragon. However, Vordugan cared not who this dragon was, only that he bested it. He swung around a massive great ax and snarled at the dragon before charging it. The dragon stood Its ground and roared in the face of Its opponent. The ax was sunk into the claw of the dragon, causing it to reel back and fling Vordugan across the arena and slam into the wall.
Vordugan coughed and fell to the ground, "Damn lizard..." using the ax to stand he gripped the handle with his hands. The dragon, now with a gash in Its hand roared and took an offensive stand. His massive legs taking up almost a 1/4 of the arena.
The fight raged on, and Gray watched very carefully. He hadn't seen much of Natsu in full dragon form, but those were the color of his scales. Plus how many dragons were there in this world right now? Erza watched this amazing feat take place, even though one could be her guildmate this was still an incredible battle. She was taking a few notes even.
Lucy however...knew. That had to be Natsu. She saw him up close. He protected her. She looked for an opportunity to get closer. Moving down to closer free seats when no one was looking, and mainly no one was. The fight was encapturing. Even the staff couldn't take their eyes off. A man sitting at the top of the arena watched, a younger man next to him fidgeted and squirmed in his seat. "Father! I want to fight that!" the brown-haired man cried. The very large man next to him only grunted, "You'll be in there soon enough."
The Dragon seemed to be winning, Vordugan couldn't get very many hits in despite being the Arena champion. And the dragon hadn't even used a breath attack. Vordugan swung again and met the business end of a tail swipe. But, this would be the tail swipe that knocked him clean off his feet and straight on his head.
A collective "oooh..." from the crowd rang out as a couple of wizards quickly ran in to collect Vordugan and the others kept the dragon at bay. "Get back beast!" They used whips and fire magic to keep it at bay. The dragon roared and charged forward, absorbing the flames through its skin and ramming into the medical wizards.
Lucy was now nearly to the front row of the arena. That has to be him... Suddenly a few lightning wizards came out of nowhere and started shocking the dragon. Throwing out spells at the dragon to stun it and scare it.
Rage enveloped the dragon and it started to attack wildly and throwing the wizards in the arena into the crowd. People in the arena started to freak and rush out of their seats to run away. Once people started to run, there was mass panic and the entire stadium began to evacuate. People throwing trash, personal objects, even children to get through the crowds and away from the big scary dragon,
Gray and Erza started to move against the crowd, as Lucy has, their purpose was to protect, and if that meant taking down a dragon then they would do it.
The dragon was consumed with rage, it's eyes bloodshot, and its massive maw open and dripping. The dragon focused this poor individual with only healing magic, stalking forward, and going in for an attack.
Erza appeared in front of the medic and stood with her sword aimed at the beast, "That's enough." She swung at the dragon, causing it to step back and snarl. However, after a few steps, its legs were now trapped in ice. Gray stood flanking the dragon and keeping Its legs immobile, or at least trying to. The dragon would break the ice every so often and Gray would make more.
Lucy took a deep breath before jumping down into the pit and racing forward and summoning Scorpio. "Lucy? What are you doing here?! Wheres Happy and Natsu!?" Gray yelled as he dodged the tail of the dragon.
"There was a cave in! Someone took them while I was out cold," Lucy lunged forward and held her ground while Scorpio attacked with sand, to possibly blind the dragon. "Took them? Where?" Erza yelled as she tried to remove her sword from the mouth of the beast. "I think this Arena! At least that's what those guys said," Lucy ducked to avoid the wildly swinging tail. Scorpio struggled to stay up, and no matter how much sand he attacked with the dragon remained unblinded.
"RELEASE THE BAIT," a booming voice over the arena shakes the venue itself as a gate in the wall opens and out flies a small being that is crying. "God there's more?!" Gray groans as he makes a massive ice sheet that covers the floor like an ice rink. The dragon spots the flying object and snaps at it to try and catch it.
The object flies directly into Lucy's midsection and knocking her off her feet and 15 feet away. "Lucy!" Gray's attention switches to her for a split second and is met with the tail of the dragon swinging into him and throwing him against a wall. The dragon chomps down on Erza's sword and shakes his head like a dog with a toy and flings her up into the seats, where she lands and takes out 4 of the chairs.
With a large crack, the dragon frees Its limbs before falling on the slick ice, it continues to attempt to get up but continues falling on itself. Lucy looks down at the flying thing, it was a brown satchel with holes cut out of it, with large feathery wings sticking out. Lucy, sliced open the bag with the help of Scorpio and found a familiar friend.
"LUCYYYYYYYY," a little blue cat cried as he escaped the bag and wrapped his arms around Lucy's neck. "I thought I was never gonna see you again!" he continues to cry, big ugly tears streaming down his face onto Lucy. "Happy, where is Natsu..."Lucy said as she slowly stood, struggling a little on the ice, but managing to find her footing.
Happy let's go and floats next to her, before looking to the dragon, "He's in there...somewhere...something happened to him, usually, I can still talk to him while he's in there..."
Flashback
"Get the damn dragon! The cat can go too," Dino yelled from outside the new opening they made to the cave. "The arena bosses will pay good jewels for that thing, even if it's dead!"
The young men wrapped Natsu in ropes and made sure to wrap several layers around his mouth. Using some strength magic, they pulled him out of the cave slowly before covering him up. "If anyone knows about this thing, they'll come to take it...secrecy is key men," Dino said after ties the fabric down to a sled that they managed to get underneath the dragon.
Natsu felt weak, and not just from fighting, from him fading. He knew this would happen eventually, but it was terrifying. But he knew this was how it works...everything must come to an end. And for him, this was the end...
"I'm so sorry...Happy...Erza...Gray...Lucy...Gramps...I'm so sorry," he thought very weakly. He finally closed his eyes, and let it happen.
Tha dragon was locked in a massive cage beneath the arena, after being shipped around, and a large man with white hair accompanied by a younger man with brown hair stepped forward.
"Is this what we were after Father? Even when we had that Kingdom destroyed?" the brunette said while examining the dragon. "The whole point of the stupid marriage was to find the dragon...we will harness whatever it has," the white-haired man slammed his hand against the cage. This awoken the dragon and a low rumble erupted from within him.
"How will that happen, Father." The older man chuckled, "Why by killing it, Dan." He laughed more and walked away with his son.
Flash Back over
"They kept us caged and apart... I tried to call his name but he didn't say anything..Lucy...he can't be gone can he," Happy looked to Lucy with massive tears in his eyes.
Lucy looked to the dragon, now laying flat on the ice and very tired, "I'm sure we can do something..." Lucy was at a loss. She didn't even know how that cursed worked let alone how to undo it.
"Is that Lu-tan?" a voice echoed from the tunnel in the arena wall. Lucy swung her head around and saw someone she never thought she'd see again. "Dan?"
The reddish-brown haired man walked forward, dressed in full knight regalia, "Why I thought my betrothed had perished!" He sauntered up to Lucy and grabbed her by the waist, "What do you say? After I handle this dragon, how about we picked up where we left off?' he leaned forward puckering his lips.
Lucy grimaced and squirmed, "There was nothing left off!" The dragon's eyes shifted to Dan and Lucy and it grumbled lowly before attempting to get up again. Dan was far too focused on seeing Lucy hadn't noticed that the dragon was now standing. While Gray and Erza slowly managed to get up as well, despite being thrown several feet.
Happy was sort of stuck in the middle of all of this, his best friend was a dragon and Lucy was currently being slobbered on. He looked to Natsu, hoping to spark something...anything..
"Natsu...it's me, Happy? Remember me?" he timidly stepped toward his 'friend'. That dragon rumbles and shifts his gaze to the blue cat, for a second, recognizing it. His pupils widening and leaning in towards Happy. The small cat started to cry and leaped up toward his friend.
Natsu's eyes turned to slits and he snapped at the exceed with his massive jaw.
"Happy NO!" Erza quickly leaped from the stands and grabbed Happy in her arms and did a flip, landing on her feet on the ice and sliding away. She glared at the dragon and screamed, "Wake the Hell Up Nastu!" She requiped into her Flame Empress Armor. "Where is that Fire Dragon?! All I see is a weak and pathetic shell!" she placed Happy behind her and glared daggers at Natsu. "Bring it on."
The dragon was now in a fury, he roared and slashed at Erza with a flaming talon.
"Ah the dragon actually uses fire, I was wondering when he would use it," a new voice echoed. The white-haired man stepped from the shadows, "It's wonderful to see you again Igneel."
