"Both..?" She began. Her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red. "Oh." She hid her smile in his chest. His fingers gently pushed her hair behind her ear.
"Now I need another shower." He muttered to himself.
She laughed. "I think I'll join you this time."
After a quick wash, Tohru began breakfast while Kyo changed the sheets. Once finished, he made his way to a wooden barstool.
"So, do you know what you want to do today?" He asked. She thought for a moment.
"Anything you would suggest?"
"Well, we are in Sapporo, so maybe wrestling some bears?"
Tohru giggled, making him smile.
"I don't think Hatori would approve of your bear wrestling plans. Any other ideas?"
He stared down at the countertop, trying his best to recall the attractions list from the folder so he didn't have to get up.
"Well, there's ice skating. But I would be worried about- well, you know. Oh, there's also the chocolate factory."
Tohru's face lit up, as she served Kyo his breakfast.
"A chocolate factory? That sounds like so much fun!" She exclaimed.
Of course she would want to see the chocolate factory. Why hadn't he mentioned it sooner? He smiled sweetly at her excitement before taking a mouthful of food. Swallowing, he continued.
"We can take a tour. They have a restaurant too, so we can eat lunch there. I think they have a cake buffet, but that's not the healthiest option.. for... you..." He noticed the sudden drop in temperature as her icy glare pierced him. He held his chopsticks up to his mouth to silence himself.
"Okay, cake buffet it is!" She happily proclaimed, clapping her hands together before joining him at the bar.
He breathed a sigh of relief. Pregnant Tohru was scary. Maybe wrestling bears wouldn't be so bad. It might help her get out some of her pent up frustration. Kyo laughed to himself at the image of Tohru taking on a grizzly.
After ensuring that Tohru was thoroughly bundled and warm, they began their descent into town. By the time they reached the bottom of the hill, Kyo's heart was beating out of his chest. This girl was beyond clumsy, and the amount of times he had to keep her from tripping on a rock or slipping on a patch of ice was insane. On the way back, they would just take a cab, because there was no way in hell he was doing that again.
The bright colors and goofy characters outside of the factory made it obvious that this attraction was marketed towards children.
Hiding his embarrassment, Kyo justified it by reminding himself that Tohru had a baby inside of her. Who was he kidding? Baby or not, these things just made her happy.
He squeezed onto her mitted hand as they entered the building. After an admittedly somewhat interesting tour of how Shiroi Koibito was made, they sat down at the restaurant.
It was surprisingly sophisticated, considering how the rest of the park was designed. Tohru ordered a bowl of hot miso soup, all while eyeing the cake buffet in the corner. She didn't want to eat too much and miss out on any of the yummy cake. She was normally a very healthy eater, but her cravings seemed to revolve around things laced with sugar or oil.
"I bet Momiji would love it here." She mused, before quickly covering her mouth and giving Kyo an apologetic glance. He only smiled weakly in return.
"It's okay for you to mention them sometimes, you know. They are still family. Well, they will be your family, anyway."
Tohru glanced at her engagement ring. Family? That's right. Soon Yuki, Momiji, and even Shigure would be her family. Her eyes began to well with tears.
"Woah, I didn't mean to make you cry! What did I say?" Kyo flustered. She shook her head.
"No, Kyo, I'm okay. I'm just so happy. I'm going to be apart of such a big family."
He relaxed his shoulders.
"Yea, well it's not as great as it sounds. They're annoying as hell." He mumbled, taking a bite of stew.
"Maybe. But I can tell that you all love each other. And you are all so close to one another. I'm really excited to be a Sohma." She reached out her hand, grabbing his as his eyes widened.
"Tohru Sohma.." He whispered under his breath.
"Kyo and Tohru Sohma." She responded, her smile growing. His warm eyes met hers, causing the joy inside of him to paint a smile on his own face.
"When do you want to be Kyo and Tohru Sohma?" He asked, his thumb tracing her ring.
She blushed. She had forgotten all about planning for a wedding, having been distracted by the trip and the news of her pregnancy.
She didn't want a large wedding, since she didn't have alot of friends. She would invite her grandfather, and all of the Sohmas of course, but overall, a big event didn't really suit the couple. But when? She dropped her eyes to her bowl.
"Would... would a month be enough time to plan a wedding..?"
Kyo looked confused.
"A month? That soon?" Why so soon? Was it the pregnancy? Was she rushing because she wanted them to be married before people found out? Seemingly reading his mind, Tohru spoke.
"Its not because of the baby. If you want to wait until after we have the baby, that's okay too. I just really want to marry you.. it's kind of silly, really. I just like the idea of making it all official.. of being your wife..."
Kyo's heart began to pound against his chest.
My wife.
Straightening his back, he took her other hand, so he was holding both of her tiny hands in his.
"A month it is then." His lips curled into a breathtaking smile, causing her heart to flutter. Then, panic ensued.
"One month! Theres so much to do! I need a dress, and a place to host it! I need to make invitations and-"
"Shh. Don't get so worked up. I'll help you when I can. Besides, my family is nosy as hell. I'm sure they'll be begging to help."
This next month would be hell. He would need to balance work, his family, and his pregnant, wedding planning fiance, all at once.
"How do you want to tell them?" She asked, breaking him from his bout of self-pity.
"My family? Well, we could just let Shigure loose and every Sohma in the city would know by nightfall."
Tohru laughed at the accuracy of his claim. It wasn't a terrible idea, actually. Besides, that way she wouldn't have to tell Momiji herself. Momiji.. She felt a pang of guilt at the thought.
"I want cake." She declared, standing abruptly and striding to the buffet.
Kyo blinked slowly. Did he say something wrong?
...
Two hours later, there was a soft knock on the cabin door.
"Come in!" Kyo shouted from the couch. Shigure entered gracefully, immediately wandering to the fireplace to warm his freezing hands.
"You could have at least gotten the door for me, Kyo." He whined.
"You don't get the door for me."
"You don't knock."
Kyo laughed, resting his hands behind his head. "Good point."
After a minute, Shigure removed his coat, joining Kyo on the couch.
"Where's the princess?"
"Taking a nap. I think she's in a cake coma." Kyo shrugged.
"Cake coma? Sounds exciting. I was rather surprised when you called me today. I was under the impression that you didn't want to speak to me on your little vacation."
"Yea, well, that's because I know you followed us here."
"Nonsense. I'm here visiting Kelly!"
"Kelly?"
"Yes. She's a penpal of mine. A rather beautiful American girl. She just finished college and is 'discovering herself'. With my help, of course."
"You're disgusting." Kyo groaned, reaching for his water glass. Shigure chuckled.
"Consentual sex between two consenting adults is perfectly acceptable." Shigure stated, rather matter of factly.
"Yea, not usually when you are dating someone else, sicko."
"Not that it's any of your business, but Akito and I have always had an open relationship. A scoundrel with permission is hardly a scoundrel." He hummed, fighting a smirk. "Besides, Kyo, you should be thanking me-"
"Oh, Shigure! You're here."
