Edward POV

My teeth bared back, a growl sprung unintentionally from my chest. Carlisle put his hand on my chest, cautioning my haste.

"Demetri," Carlisle somehow managed a pleasant tone as the short, olive-skinned, dark haired vampire approached us.

"Edward, Carlisle," his tone was brisk, but formal. "Funny running into you here." I rolled my eyes, knowing as a tracker, he knew damn well that we would be here.

"I think we could say the same," my tone was snarky.

"I was sent by Aro to locate Aurora's sister. I was on my way to her and her mate when I noticed they were leaving, off into the water. But my tracking sense picked up two very familiar Cullen's," his head tilted, a sinister smile curling on his face.

"And what did Aro want with her?" Carlisle never lost his peaceful composure.

"Official Volturi business. You understand," he answered cryptically. I tried to see if his thoughts would betray him, but he was smart, only replaying the Greek alphabet. "But that still begs the question, why are you here? I know your family relocated but isn't this a bit far from your new home?" He was moving slightly closer to us every time he spoke. His thoughts slipped, are they looking for her too?

"Yes, we had an encounter with Aurelia and her mate a little while ago and we were just looking to patch up some loose ends," I answered his thoughts, my eyes never leaving his gaze. His brow creased, so he knows about her power. Aro won't be happy about this.

"Well how did you know where to find her? You must know you are slightly off the path, she's a few towns up, twenty miles or so." His crooked grin didn't falter with his superior attitude.

"Alice of course," Carlisle answered swiftly, leaving out the part about her daughter.

"Well she isn't infallible after all it seems," he snickered. "Shame she is not with you, I know Aro desires greatly to have her join the guard."

"Even if she was here, that would never happen," my tone was final. "So what do you want with us?" I asked, sensing he wasn't going to leave peacefully.

"Well Aro would be quite pleased if I brought you back with me," he was focused on my face alone. "After the girl left, I thought-why go for the easier chase?" His smile grew, eyes shifting between Carlisle and myself. "Although I can't say he wouldn't object if I took care of you either." Aro might kill me for destroying Edward and his gift, but he'll be just as disappointed that I've come back empty handed. Might as well have some fun. I tensed at his thoughts, crouching, ready for attack. Carlisle made a quick glance towards me, Are we really doing this Edward? The Volturi will find out. Think about it before you kill him. I nodded once, noting the disappointed look on his face. Giving me no chance to think, Demetri lunged for us, going after Carlisle first. He wanted to make me angry I could see that; he knew I would protect my father. In a blur, he was on the ground with Carlisle, they were wrestling back and forth. Demetri had his arm pinned, then Carlisle kneed him in the torso, sending him jolting to the right. I made my jump then, pushing him off Carlisle. I growled, trying to pin my hand down onto his neck but he was quick. He slithered out of my grasp and jumped, crouching in front of me again. I watched his thoughts, waiting for the exact moment he was about to pounce, but just as he was about to make his move, he stopped. His body went limp and collapsed onto the ground. He was writhing in pain, screaming, clutching his head. Carlisle gave me a knowing glance, brushing himself off and standing up. I silently reminded myself to apologize for every being mean or doubting Alice-her daughter had quite possibly saved my life. Carlisle tossed me a lighter from his jacket pocket and I strode up to Demetri. His face was twisted in pain, his neck askew.

"How?" he hissed, barely able to speak.

"You won't be alive to find out," I answered darkly, my hand snapping onto his neck. I yanked; the screeching as it tore rippled through my ears. I dismantled his arms and legs for good measure, then moved the body parts onto a dry patch of grass. I tossed the lighter onto the limbs and watched as they caught fire quickly, singeing the grass as they licked through his body.

"There's enough snow around here that the fire will stop spreading as soon as it reaches a wet patch of grass," I noted, observing the icy-dotted landscape.

"Then we should go," Carlisle urged me.

"How long until they find out?" I asked, looking away.

"I'm not sure. Aro will send scouts at some point I imagine. Then, it's a matter of this being traced back to us," he couldn't help but keep his eyes focused on the rising flames.

"That could be a while," I mused, hoping it would give us a few weeks to prepare.

Alice POV

"Do you think they know?" Jasper asked me. We were running swiftly through the forest by our home, approaching it quickly.

"I'm sure Amber saw something. I'm just glad Edward and Carlisle got out of there unscathed," I was eager to get home and see my daughter. I was glad Kate and Garrett how found Aurelia and Nicola. With Edward killing Demetri it was only a matter of when, not if the Volturi would come for us. Jasper squeezed my hand, sensing my distress. We approached the house, slowing our speed to a jog and ascended the steps to the front porch. Jasper opened the door for me, ushering me into the landing. Rosalie and Emmett were on the couch, sitting casually. Esme was on the floor with Amber and Tanya was sitting in a lounge chair in the corner.

"Mommy!" Amber yelled excitedly, pulling me forward. She lept gracefully into my arms when I was only inches away.

"I see who's the favorite here," Jasper teased, closing the door behind him and striding over to us. She stuck her tongue out at him and reached out her arms for him to join in a group hug. Jasper pulled her and I close, embracing us for a long moment.

"Glad to be back," he whispered.

"Did you see Edward?" Amber asked as we pulled away slightly, still huddled together. Her voice was urgent and alarmed.

"Shh," Esme reminded her gently from the rug.

"Renesmee?" I guessed, noticing her absence from the living room.

"Yes poor thing has been up and down, worried sick for Edward after what Amber saw. I think Bella may have finally gotten her to sleep," Esme looked up the stairs, a hint of a frown on her sweet face.

"Sorry," Amber apologized, her tone much lower now. "But did you Mom?" she reminded me of her pressing question.

"Yes I saw it. They're okay, thanks to you," I told her assuredly. Her body relaxed then, a smile on her lips.

"It worked then. Thank God," her golden eyes looked weary, it seemed out of place on her infantile features. "The projecting always messes with me for a while. I couldn't see any outcomes after that, I wasn't sure if it worked. I saw you and Daddy coming back but Uncle Edward was still a bit fuzzy," she tried to explain.

"I get it," I told her, soothing her cheek. "My visions are never perfect either-and I can't even see Renesmee or the werewolves."

"You did more than enough," Jasper added, sending waves of pride and assurance.

"I just wish I could control my powers better," she frowned. "projecting makes my visions wonky for a while after and healing others still hurts me so much," she winced. "I helped Aunt Rose earlier and even though it was just a small pain I took away it was still difficult." Tiny lines formed on her face as her frown down-turned even further. Bella descended the stairs then, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"I couldn't help but overhear," she glided over to Amber, still in my arms. "Didn't your parents ever tell you how much work it took me to perfect my shield. And hell, I'm still working on it," she told her, a hint of humor in her voice. "Abilities that are more complex, more volatile-take longer to master. But it's also what makes us super cool," she smiled, trying to cheer her up.

"Really?" Amber looked up, her face looking a bit more cheerful.

"I bet even some of the Volturi had a hard time harnessing their gifts at first," Emmett added.

"We will keep working with you, keep training with you," I told her, locking her eyes with mine. "Whatever you want we will always be here to help." She didn't say anything then, just rested her head against my shoulder. I stroked her hair and carried her over to the other long couch, sitting down across from Rosalie and Emmett. Jasper joined me, slinging his arm over my shoulder.

"How are you feeling Rose?" I asked her.

"Good, not throwing up anymore. Less energy but hanging in there. This baby can kick let me tell you," she laughed, rubbing her belly.

"They're going to be super strong," Amber commented, turning her head slightly to look at Rosalie.

"Stronger than me?" Emmett asked, laughing a little.

"Can't tell," Amber answered back, calming down from her worried thoughts. "We stay so little, it's impossible to measure strength in the same way you would for a full grown vampire." Emmett seemed satisfied with that, and relaxed into the couch. We all waited silently, feeling no need to move or speak. Peace and quiet was hard to find these days and I relished in the calm atmosphere. We stayed content for hours, until Carmen and Eleazar returned. We filled them in on Edward and Carlisle's encounter and Eleazar seemed distraught.

"It's unlike Aro to only send one guard member," his eyes looked skeptical.

"I think he assumed it would be an easy trip. Have Demetri fetch Aurelia and Nicola and bring them back to Volterra. There was no reason for him to even know that they had encountered us or that Demetri would run in to Edward and Carlisle," Jasper explained.

"Demetri has always been over-confident. Maybe he was able to convince Aro to let him go alone," Carmen tried to reassure her mate. Eleazar still looked hesitant but nodded.

"I suppose your right. But after he doesn't return," Eleazar trailed off, looking around the room. "Aro will send more members out, and it won't take long for his to discover what happened."

"How much time do we have?" Esme asked, turning to the former Volturi member for guidance.

"Hard to say. It might take a while for Aro to suspect anything is wrong. Then they must try and investigate. They won't even know where to start looking unless Demetri told Aro where he was going," Eleazar was pacing now, thinking of all the possibilities. "Perhaps we ask the little one if she can see anything?" His face turned to Amber, with solemn eyes. She nodded and I watched her face freeze, her eyes focused on the future. She stayed that way for a while, flickering through endless possibilities laid out before her.

"There's so much up in the air," she stated sadly, finally focusing back on the room in front of her. "The time line is everywhere. Who he will send out to look for him is almost impossible to pinpoint, I'm sorry, it's too unpredictable still. I can always see them coming-that is a fact," she frowned and looked down. "I know we have at least two weeks, I didn't see any chance before that. But I also saw scenarios where we have months." I could tell she was frustrated at not having a definitive answer for everyone. I felt a wave of reassurance and optimism trickle over me and I knew Jasper was trying to help Amber, who was still curled up in my lap.

"That's still helpful," Rosalie spoke up. "I should have the baby by then, at least we know that." She bit her lip looking down and her belly.

"I won't let anything happen," Emmett spoke very low but I could still hear him. He knew Rosalie was terrified of losing the life she had fought so desperately to create. I turned back to face Eleazar and Carmen, who seemed more at ease. They went to find some space by the back wall, standing and talking to each other quietly. It didn't take long for the door to open once more. Kate, Garrett, Aurelia and Nicola came inside, looking weary from their journey. I noticed their eyes, and was surprised, elated. They must have hunted on their way here, and Nicola and Aurelia's eyes were more of an apricot color. I could still see the tinges of lingering red, but the change was apparent. I was so overjoyed that we had let them go, that I had trusted my instincts that told me they were good natured. Everyone else must have noticed as well, I could see looks of intrigue and surprise from the other golden eyes in the room. Nicola dipped his head in respect, trying to avoid eye contact. Aurelia looked more relieved, as if she felt at home.

"Thank you so much for joining us," Esme went to greet them-stepping in for Carlisle as head of our home.

"Thank you for giving us a second chance," Aurelia smiled at our mother, her eyes shining with genuine appreciation. I noticed Amber retracted slightly in my arms, burying her head into my chest. I looked at Jasper for some insight into her reaction.

"She feels shame," he whispered under his breath. I looked down at my perfect daughter and wondered how she could blame herself for protecting her family.

"Amber," I spoke so only she could hear me. "You didn't do anything wrong."

"I hurt them," her voice was barely audible, even to me.

"To protect us. They tried to hurt us. They deserve a second chance, yes, but it doesn't change what they did was wrong-and that what you did was justified." They seemed to notice our silent conversation and Aurelia walked over to us slowly. She knelt down beside Amber, trying to meet her eyes.

"I'm sorry," Amber told her, still not lifting her head from my chest.

"You were just protecting your family. I was trying to do the same. I see now that what I did was wrong. I tried to hurt your family, you had to stop us," her tone was heartfelt, eyes never leaving Amber's hidden face. "I'm the one who needs to apologize." Amber turned her face at this, peeking out to meet Aurelia's gaze. "I'm sorry, will you give us a second chance?" She spoke softly, a small smile playing on her lips. Amber started to return the smile.

"Yes," she answered back, her voice still low. "But you have to promise not to hurt us. I won't let anyone hurt my family." She was serious, the comment seemed out of place for someone so young and it just made me remember how much mental development she had already experienced.

"Promise," Aurelia raised her hand as if she was about to swear on a bible in court. I watched the careful and sincere eyes of my family, looking down at the interaction. A sea of golden irises that made me feel grateful for the lifestyle we had all chosen.

"So what is the plan?" Nicola interjected, seeming a little more antsy than the rest of us. "We know you want to take down the Volturi, but how are we going to do it?"

"Carefully," Jasper told him, his eyes shifting. "We want them to come to us, to be on our turf-yet we don't want them to compile an army of witnesses. We need a fair fight, numbers wise."

"If we don't prepare now they will come for us soon either way," Rosalie said. "They don't like large covens and ours has grown one too many times." She looked down at her belly, sadness evident on her beautiful features.

"We will probably ask the wolves to help us," Bella suggested. Nicola raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Wolves, like werewolves?"

"Probably not the one's you're used to," Bella said. "They are shape shifters really."

"Of course," he still seemed skeptical but didn't linger on the subject.

"I don't think it would hurt. We want as many allies on our side as we can get," Jasper affirmed.

"If we can get you sister to help us," Garrett tried again.

"Like I said before, I doubt it," Aurelia was bitter.

"Well if she won't help we need to know more about her gift," I inquired, remembering some of the earlier visions I had.

"She can put a bind on a power momentarily. It works from a distance, it works on mental gifts only. That's really all I know. When we were together she only used it to protect us. I've never seen it use it against someone maliciously," she shuddered.

"But you don't know how it works intricately?" Garrett pressed. She just shook her head.

"It sounds like the opposite of Bella," I piped in. "With Bella's shield nothing can get in but things can get out. With Aurora's she can force a block on someone so their power can't get out but everything else can get in"

"Then would she be able to penetrate Bella's shield?" Esme asked, worried.

"I'm not sure," Jasper mused. "Bella is able to protect herself from mental intrusion but if Aurora can target anyone with a mental gift," he trailed off his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"I'm sorry I don't know more," Aurelia sulked.

"I don't think she could penetrate my personal shield but she might be able to stop me from expanding it," Bella said grimacing.

"Renesmee," Amber whispered.

"What?" I noticed Amber's eyes were sparkling with revelation.

"I saw it," she still seemed dazed as she spoke. "Just now, while you were debating if it would work on Bella or not."

"What about Renesmee?" Bella asked, slightly scared.

"She can break through a mental shield. She can use it to stop Renata and Aurora. She can destroy a shield," Amber was getting a little too excited for Bella's comfort.

"What, no," Bella stuttered somewhat.

"Has she ever done that?" Eleazar asked in disbelief.

"Not really, I mean she can always show me her thoughts, as if my shield doesn't affect her but I never thought of it as more than that," Bella's voice was getting quieter as she spoke.

"Well she can," Amber emphasized.

"No," a voice I recognized almost instantly, my brother, as he loudly entered the house. His eyes were narrowed with anger. "Renesmee is too young to be in the middle of the fight."

"Nice to see you too Edward," I rolled my eyes sarcastically.

"Was it not you who offered up Amber as our main fighter just days ago?" Jasper hissed.

"That's different," Edward snapped back. "Her mind is advancing rapidly. Renesmee is barely six, both psychically and mentally."

"But she has great powers, and great teachers who can help her develop them," Kate added hesitantly.

"Uncle Edward I saw her help, I know she can learn," Amber protested, pouting. Edward sighed, going to Bella for a hug.

"What do you think my love?"

"Honestly, I want to protect her. But I also know we can't hide her away this time. She's too vulnerable. We need to teach her to protect herself," Bella looked into his eyes, her own looking wary.

"I agree," Carlisle had entered stealthily behind Edward. "She could be a great asset and beyond that you need to work with her on her powers. Amber has been training hers already." He gestured over to us.

"Fine," Edward didn't look happy but his tone indicated he was done talking about it.

"Thank you for coming," Carlisle addressed the newcomers in the room.

"Our pleasure," Aurelia answered, bowing her head daintily.

"So did it work?" Amber was getting anxious again, looking to Edward.

"Yes," he answered politely, half-smiling at her. "Thank you for helping us."

"So Demetri is really dead?" Emmett looked sad.

"Yes," Carlisle seemed displeased but there was a hint of relief in his voice.

"Damn it," Emmett cursed. "I've always wanted to kill that guy. Felix is mine though," he insisted, a joking smile. Rosalie smacked him playfully.

"How can killing the Volturi be a joke to you?" she asked.

"Babe you know I love a good fight. These Volturi have caused us nothing but problems for as long as I can remember. I relish in the thought of taking them out to protect us," he grinned again, but took her hands lovingly.

"I can't believe I used to respect them," Jasper mumbled under his breath. I took his hand without saying anything, I could tell he needed comfort.

"Remember," Garrett started authoritatively. "Our goal is to get to Aro, steal his gift and give it to Marcus. Then protect Marcus long enough for him to read Aro's thoughts." Once he does they will disband themselves. The guard will dissent into chaos."

"And there might be some loose ends to tie up," Nicola reminded him. "I don't think Jane or Alec will turn on Aro, even without his gift."

"Some of them will have to be taken out," Garrett lamented. "But we still want leadership. Our world can't survive without some kind of law enforcers. We just want better ones," he chuckled lightly to himself. "American democracy wins again."

"I don't think overthrowing your leader counts as democracy," Tanya joked back.

"So who will be in charge?" Aurelia wondered.

"We were hoping, the two of you," I confessed sheepishly.

"What?" Nicola looked horrified, his words coming out in a hiss.

"Hear us out," Edward held up his hand as a cautious warning.

"Not just you of course. The Volturi wives, your sister, and anyone else who is willing to stay. Free will, without Chelsea and Corin forcing anyone to be a part of the guard. Nicola, you have been around for longer than any of us, and Aurelia you show great potential. You would have a family-a real family-not one controlled by manipulation," I tried to explain. Nicola recoiled a bit, hesitating, looking down.

"May I?" Amber spoke sweetly. She held out her hand asking for permission. Nicola nodded and she pulled him over to her. He still looked weary but allowed her to place a hand on his cheek. His eyes lost focus as he started watching pictures of his future. We all waited in silence, Edward stared intently, reading the visions as they scrolled through Nicola's mind.

"Amazing," he breathed, stepping back slightly. His eyes were wide with surprise and adoration. "We looked so happy and everyone respected us," he was being carried away by a promising future.

"Don't we still need fear to rule?" Aurelia interjected. "I mean, that's why no one has tried overtaking the Volturi before. They are powerful, ruthless; everyone is afraid of them."

"Fear is one way to rule," Carlisle said. "But you can also rule with respect. Punishing those who need it, honoring and rewarding those who you feel have good intentions. You will have to make hard decisions, and it will not always be clear what is right. On paper, humans are not meant to know our secret, yet we told Bella. The Volturi would have killed us if not intrigued by her gift. I would argue a fair ruler would have looked at the evidence, seen the kind nature of Bella and our family, trusted that she would not tell anyone. Even calling for help from our Irish friend Maggie who can discern if someone is lying might be in order. And if you lead with fair-mindedness other vampires will be willing to help, out of compassion for our kind-not fear of being killed. Cases like Maria- of newborn armies will always be something that must be dealt with-it's much too dangerous for our kind. My point is, you have good judgment, good nature, we can all see that." He smiled going to stand by our new comrades.

"Sounds like you have this figured out. Why don't you lead?" Nicola joked, trying to make light of the serious situation.

"I have considered it many times," Carlisle pondered, "But my role is here with my family. I am too kind-hearted I'm afraid for such a position. I don't ever relish in the thought of killing another creature, and as a leader of the vampire world, you must be willing to take that action if necessary."

"Can we have some time?" Aurelia stood, grabbing Nicola's hand. "We are not saying no, we just need some time to talk, alone," she kept her eyes towards her mate as he spoke.

"Of course take all the time you need," Carlisle gestured to the door pleasantly. She nodded and pulled Nicola along. I could hear the door close and the snow crunch as they moved farther from the house.

"Can we really trust them?" Tanya hissed.

"I believe them," Kate defended. "You should have heard her story-their story. They've been through a lot and they really love each other. We are asking a lot, for them to change their entire lives for the good of our species."

"They'll come around, I think," Amber hesitated, biting her lip. "There's only a very small chance they will reject the offer."

"And the Volturi?" Edward turned to me. I nodded, focusing my thoughts on Aro. I saw him, he was dealing with a rogue vampire, one that had fed in his city. The guard was preoccupied, not even a hint of recognition for Demetri.

"Not an issue, not yet," I told him confidently.

"What's next then?" Eleazar asked.

"We call the wolves," Bella decided.

Jacob POV

"Hello?" I answered the phone groggily.

"Jake!" Bella answered enthusiastically, "glad you're up." I chuckled, then groaned as I tried to force myself awake. Rubbing my eyes, I hoisted myself against my headboard, trying to sit up so I wouldn't be tempted to lull back into sleep.

"You do realize what time it is?" I yawned, looking out at the starry-filled night that peeked between my curtains.

"1 AM there I know, but this is important," she sounded weary. I tensed up immediately.

"Ness?" My body was shaking, out of my control at the thought of Nessie being in trouble.

"No, well I guess. It's everyone Jake. Our whole family needs your help. You and your pack," she explained.

"Why, what happened?" I tried to calm myself down but my adrenaline was pumping by now and I couldn't stop it.

"We're going to take out the Volturi," she said. I could tell she was trying to be assertive but her voice was shaky.

"You mean the creepy ancient vampires that I've had to deal with not once but twice now," I tried to sound joking but in truth the Volturi were the only vampires that scared me. The way they acted-with no empathy, no love for anything but rules and power. I shuddered, thinking of when I let Bella go alone with Alice to face them years ago.

"Why, why now?" I was getting angry, I didn't want to yell but it seemed stupid to try and fight them.

"We have to Jake. If we don't they'll kill us. Amber has seen it, the only plans they have for us are bad ones. Plus, we know how Aro feels about vampire children. His own sister was pregnant when he killed her."

"What!" I was trying to process everything Bella was trying to tell me but I was just getting angrier with every new piece of information.

"We don't know why, perhaps he thought of it as a broken rule, or maybe he knows how powerful they can be. He could have gotten scared of the child overtaking him, with Marcus and his sister guiding it," she trailed off.

"When is this happening?" I tried to calm down again, focusing on my brothers and Leah, trying to think of protecting them.

"We don't know, two weeks at the least, several months at most," she sounded disappointed.

"I can't just move the pack up to Sweden for months Bella," I sighed.

"I know you won't have to. When they decide, Alice will be able to nail down the time line. I'm just asking if you will help us."

"Of course Bells, you and Nessie are my family," I answered sincerely, feeling the small ache in my heart from being away from Nessie. It was getting harder to deal with, and I was looking forward to finally moving on, moving away from Forks. The pack had mostly stayed together, occasionally stray nomads would pick up on the Cullen's old scent and come snooping. But mostly, we were spending most of our time just living a normal life. It was getting boring- being without Renesmee, without any action to distract me. As much as it felt strange to admit it, the Cullen's were my family now and I missed them.

"So you'll ask them?" she asked, breaking me out of my reverie.

"Sure, sure," I yawned again, feeling my eyelids getting heavy. "In the morning." She just laughed at me.

"Goodnight Jake."

I woke up late, trying to avoid the reality of Bella's phone call. I didn't like having to recruit the wolves. After our previous run-in with the Volturi everything had been so normal, so low-stress. I hated being the bearer of bad news. I sighed, not even bothering to get dressed. I went into the backyard- noticing my snow covered Rabbit still holding onto her antique glory-and focused. I felt my limbs start to quiver, heat rising inside me until I felt like I could burst. Then I let it take over. My body changed in an instant. Front paws and legs where my hands used to be, hind legs and a giant wolf torso. I howled loudly, hoping the others would come quickly. I didn't have to wait long before they started appearing. First Seth, his sandy brown fur glistening off the tiny melting patches of snow. Leah wasn't far behind him, her eyes looked worried.

What's going on? She looked at me intently.

I'm waiting for the others, this involves everyone. I tried not to sound bossy but in wolf form my Alpha personality was sometimes still hard to quell. I watched as Sam joined us, then Embry, Quill, Collin and Brady. Jared had left with Kim, decided to move someplace else-far away. He wanted to stop phasing so he could grow old with her. Paul had followed, though wanted to stay close to home. He and Rachel decided to settle down in Pullman, staying close to Rachel's old school. She had grown rather fond of the town and Paul wasn't quite ready to lead a normal life yet- he still came to warn us and fight nomads in the area.

Why did you call us Jacob? Sam was stern, a little annoyed even.

The Cullen's need our help. I told him blankly, waiting to see his reaction. He didn't falter, in fact he softened. The Volturi are coming back. Not to play nice this time. They have two children now and…

Two?! Embry interrupted me.

Sorry, I haven't phased since last time I was there so you guys didn't know. I couldn't help but picture when Rosalie was being nice to me, and Bella had told me she was pregnant. I was happy for Blondie in some way, and glad she no longer seemed to focus on hating me.

Her? Leah scoffed, unable to hide her thoughts.

But the baby isn't born yet? Sam guessed. I shook my head. I filled them in on my conversation with Bella.

A real fight? Brady seemed eager, he wasn't allowed in the action when we had to deal with Victoria's army.

Looks that way, I wanted them to understand the magnitude of the situation.

A winnable fight? Sam again, he seemed apprehensive.

Honestly, I'm not sure. But I do know the Cullen's wouldn't risk their family if it was a death trap. I knew they didn't take fighting lightly, and wouldn't do it if they didn't have to. Carlisle was quite the pacifist and it seemed like this encounter was not going to end in friendly conversation.

I'll help you, you know I love them too. I nudged Seth, grateful that he had my back-since the beginning of the mess with Bella.

It sounds risky Jacob, Quill was skeptical and starting pacing slightly.

They have other vampires allies too you know that. Plus, you haven't seen the new one. She's..

Incredible, Seth finished my thought while he pictured his recent visit to Sweden. He gave the wolves a glance at Amber and her powers and they seemed impressed, if not a little scared.

She's a baby how is that possible? Sam was the least involved with the vampires, even after Renesmee, he was hesitant to engulf himself in learning about them.

She grows like Renesmee, except differently. I dunno Sam, I'm not a vampire, I don't know how these things work, only what they tell me. I tried to make a joke of the situation but the answering huffs and beady eyes warned me this was no laughing matter.

I'll help, Leah had been quiet but her answer was confident, and it showed she still trusted me. She rose her head and came to stand closer to me. Seth followed quickly, having already said he would help. Collin and Brady looked at each other nervously but followed behind Seth and Leah. Sam didn't move but Embry and Quill were pacing on alternate paths.

I'll help, Sam didn't let any emotion slip, I think the Volturi are rather scared of us.

Especially Caius. My mind drifted back to Caius' reaction when he saw me there with Nessie. He still thought of us as real werewolves and looked somehow even paler at the sight of me. Finally, Sam bowed, I could see his mouth curling over his teeth into a wolfy grin. I cheered (not so silently to myself) that I made Sam laugh, and Leah nudged me playfully.

So it's settled? Embry looked a little nervous.

Yes. Sam gave a serious look and Embry whimpered a little. We can defeat them.

Bella POV

"Jake?" I answered the phone, surprised and nervous about what the wolves decided.

"We're going to help. All of us," there was a hint of a smile in his voice and I couldn't help but smile too. I still worried about Jacob, and him not being nearly as invincible as us.

"Alice will keep us informed about an exact time. I'll let you know when we need you," I glanced over to Edward who nodded silently at our interaction. "Oh and Jacob, thank you." I hung up, feeling relieved. We had Tanya's family and now the wolves on our side. We were still going to reach out to the Irish Coven , Jasper was going to enlist Peter and Charlotte's help, and Carlisle was debating who else we could call upon. We finally had the upper hand- the Volturi weren't even planning to come yet so we had time to train, to rally against them. Our powers were strong and in some ways even surpassed theirs. Edward smiled at me, and I started to remember all the times I had put the family at risk. It felt nice not to be the frail human that all the vampires were targeting. I couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky to have Edward and Renesmee in my life; that by some miracle he chose me to be his. I could help protect our lives now and I wouldn't stop until everyone was safe.
