I disclaim everything that needs to be. Your reviews are so sweet; it honestly makes it more fun to write knowing y'all actually wanna read it. (which is hard to know in my career as a poet/writer) … Please know I appreciate them SO much.

Bold means a change in location and/ or time or time period. Italics are thoughts, typically. Rin means "dignified", Kama means "love", Haru means "Eternal Treasure", Lev means "love", Kei means "blessings", Caia means "rejoice"

Love Letters- Chapter 23, Letter 24

Kagome's birthday- August 15th birthday

Sesshomaru's birthday September 2nd birthday.

A cry. Kagome twisted her body from Sesshomaru arms and crawled the edge of the bed. Haru cried softly as he reached upward toward his mama.

"Hi, Haru-Lev, are you hungry?" she whispered, lifting her shirt for him to latch.

Sesshomaru stirred, feeling her absence. He sat up, looking at his wife breastfeeding in the moonlight. She was ethereal, more and more lovely every time he looked at her. The clock glowed at 2:15 AM.

He quickly took his phone from the nightstand to take a photo. At the movement, she looked back toward him.

Smiling softy, she spoke, "Hi daddy, good morning."

He smiled back, "Hi, Mama. Little Lev is hungry?" his voice was a whisper as he glanced over at Rin's bassinette.

Kagome nodded, "Kama should be up soon, too."

Sesshomaru nodded and stood, jumping down the stairs as quietly as possible to warm a bottle. He knew she would let him feed Rin, appreciating the quiet time they spent together with their babies.

Moving up the stairs, he stepped back into the bedroom just as Rin started to fuss. He lifted her into his arms and settled next to Kagome on their bed, leaning up against the headboard as they fed their children. He smiled at his son laying on Kagome's bare stomach as he nursed.

"Skin-to-skin" he said softly, watching Rin snuggle into his bare chest as he held the bottle.

He watched as Kagome held firmly onto Haru, even when her head leaned against his arm as she drifted in and out of sleep. Haru, once he'd finished nursing, curled himself into his mother's arms and fell back asleep. Rin soon followed, curling into her father's arms and then her bassinette after he gently placed her back down. Placing a kiss on her head, he moved to where his son lay and softly pulled him from his mother's arms and back into his bassinette. Pulling Kagome close to him, he fell into the restful sleep after his wife.

Sesshomaru was the first to awake, even before the twins. His phone glowed an 8:15 AM. He had a host of emails and texts from Aia, Izayoi, and Ken. He sighed, slipping his robe around his shoulders and sitting at his desk, the morning sun glowing in the window.

At some point, Jaken had placed the morning paper on his desk with his agenda for the day and all of the memos he had to look at for Image Productions. His workday had begun. He worked quietly as his wife and children slept, thankful they decided to have the twins in the room with them. He wanted Kagome to rest, she wasn't even a week from giving birth, let alone being home from the hospital.

The date on the calendar blinked at him, August 14th. Kagome's birthday was tomorrow, and he'd never felt more ill prepared. Pushing his work to the side, Sesshomaru opened his laptop and started a list in his journal.

First, he had to get the pictures from the birth. He'd been working on editing them, yes, but those were the digital ones. He hadn't gotten a chance to get into the darkroom to get the photos he really wanted. That was the first task of the day, maybe during the first naptime. As long as he got a few pictures of the twins nursing, he would be satisfied. He wanted that shot enlarged as big as possible and printed for their bedroom.

The next thing on his list was the planning of an actual party. He didn't want to farm this out, he didn't even want a big party. It would be family and friends, as small as possible. At most, it would be a surge of texts in order to plan properly. Sesshomaru looked to his phone, quickly creating a group text with all of their friends, excluding Kagome. The text read:

tomorrow is Kags' birthday

throwing a small party, please come and celebrate her noon

extra small, you know she's gonna say no gifts but surprise her (I will be)

chef has the night off, I will be cooking

don't tell her it's happening (Jakotsu/Sango/Inuyasha)

no talk of Shynah and Hiro

xx Sessh

The satisfaction of checking that task off of his list washed over Sesshomaru, reveling in it before moving on to the next thing on his list. Keeping Shynah and Hiro at arm's length before they go to the court hearing. Shynah's book was unsurprising, they'd figured she would try to do something like that in order to discuss the details around Haru's legacy. A book seemed to be the easiest way to do it, and the most lucrative. He looked at the manila folder sitting on top of his work papers. He hadn't figured out a way to present these letters to Kagome. She should be the one to make the decision to give them to Souta or not, not him.

The final focus of Sesshomaru's to-do list was find out what Naraku was up to. He hated Naraku almost as much as he hated Hiro, and the bile he sprayed at Kagome made his blood boil. Opening his laptop, he scanned his emails for any information about Naraku's whereabouts. Jaken sent along, at the request of Ken, the entirety of Naraku's file from his Military school, which tracked his location up until his 21st birthday. After that, Naraku joined a notable group in the German underworld that focused on prostitution and drugs. After a bust, he spent 4 ½ years in prison and immediately moved to New York upon release. Now, it seemed he was reconnecting with his father and stepmother. Shynah was seen at JFK waiting to pick him up in a brown town car. All they could do was wait for Shynah to make her next move, or Hiro's court hearing, whichever came first.

His phone buzzed as their friends started confirming their presence at Kagome's birthday lunch. As he confirmed that Jakotsu would make the birthday cake and Sango would bring drinks, tiny yawns sounded from the end of his bed. Kagome slept soundly, and his heart eased, he really wanted her to rest and heal. Childbirth was exhausting and Sesshomaru couldn't imagine how tired she actually was. It was far more than what she was showing, that was certain.

Sesshomaru's soft steps carried him to the edge of Haru's bassinette. His son had a full head black baby curls, and silver tipped eyelashes. His round face was smooth and perfect, quietly curious as he stared back at his father. They studied each other's faces, slowly meeting eyes. The gold Tashio eyes mirrored each other as the smaller face broke into a gummy smile. Thankful his phone was still in hand, Sesshomaru quickly snapped a picture of his son as he smiled back. Both of their attentions shifted as the bedcovers rustled. Kagome smiled softly at her boys, having already taken a picture of the two of them before moving closer.

"It's only fair that you got his first smile, since I got Rin's." she murmured, looking into the bassinette where their daughter slept.

Sesshomaru nodded, "fair, indeed." He stood and got back into bed with his wife, wrapping his arms around her. Kissing her temple, he whispered, "Good morning, Mrs. Tashio."

She returned the hug and whispered into his chest, "good morning," dropping a kiss onto an arm muscle, Kagome pulled back and looked at him, "I don't want anything for my birthday."

He stared down at her, amused, "what are you talking about, Kagome? Your birthday is tomorrow."

"I know it is," Kagome laughed, "but I don't want anything. You can invite people over if you really really want to but I don't want anything. It's 26, that's not a big birthday. I know you're gonna try something, so I'm telling you now, I'm good."

Sesshomaru leaned down to kiss her forehead, "as you wish."

Haru commanded their attention again as he let out a little cry, his hungry sound. Kagome lifted him from his blanket, and positioning him to latch onto her nipple. After he was situated, Kagome turned her attention back to her husband.

"Sessh, I mean it. We don't need to make a big deal out of it."

"I promise, Kagome. Our friends will just want to see you and the kids, that's all. There's no big party."

Nodding, Kagome turned her attention back to the nursing baby. He was finishing his meal and was reaching up to cuddle his mother. She rubbed the baby's back until he burped, then cuddled him closer to her chest.

"What time is it, Sessh? Aren't Souta and Hitomi supposed to be home for breakfast?"

Sesshomaru looked at his phone, 9:40 AM, and showed it to her. Breakfast was at 11. Souta and Hitomi would be home soon, if they weren't already. She nodded in response and placed Haru into Sesshomaru's arms, moving to get up and get dressed. Pulling a hoodie from Sesshomaru's closet, and a pair of leggings from hers, she tossed them onto the bed before heading for the shower.

Sesshomaru looked at his again sleeping son, enchanted by his tiny face. His little pajamas were fluffy, making him look like a little baby bear. Rin was dressed similarly, her pajamas making her look like a baby tiger. Rin started to fuss just as he heard the shower stop, and Haru made a face that told Sesshomaru it was time for a diaper change. Standing, he moved toward the bathroom door, meeting a towel-clad Kagome.

"Rin's hungry, I'm going to go change Haru. Meet you downstairs?" He smiled, waiting.

"Yea, will you grab the bibs? And some spit-up rags, while you're in the nursery?"

Sesshomaru nodded as he walked out of their bedroom into the nursery. Eri and Jaken unpacked the twins' overnight bag at some point, and there was a stack of spit-up rags next to the changing table. Settling Haru on the table and taking off his night clothes, Sesshomaru made relatively quick work of changing his diaper, dressing his son in different pajamas- a blue onesie with crescent moons all over it- and lifting him into his arms. Stuffing some rags in his pocket, he headed down the stairs to help with breakfast.

*Downstairs *

Kagome set up two infant chairs, placing Rin in one of them. She'd dressed and found a text from Eri explaining that all of the twins' things had been organized into the kitchen and nursey, and the bibs were to be found in the drawer next to the highchairs.

With Rin settled, Kagome turned her attention to the fridge, taking out the ingredients for their family breakfast. Playing soft Jill Scott songs on the speaker as she rolled the dough for cinnamon rolls and chopped peppers, onions, and cheese for the veggie scramble. Unable to decide between bacon or sausage, she chose both and put them next to the stove, knowing Sesshomaru would want to cook them.

When he came down the stairs with Haru in hand, she was twisting the cinnamon rolls into their shape to be baked. He settled his son into the free infant chair and went to help prepare the food.

The music remained soft behind them as they cooked in relative silence. The sleepy morning was illuminated by the hazy morning sun, and they felt peaceful. As Kagome slid the first batch of cinnamon rolls in the oven, Inuyasha jumped down the stairs.

"morning Kags, Sessh," he greeted, "hi twinies!" his first stop was the coffee maker and expresso machine. Whipping his usual into a mug, he settled at the island, next to his niece and nephew.

"morning Yash," Kagome smiled, batting his hand away from the bowl of frosting she was stirring, "hey! Quit it! Lick the bowl when I'm done cooking or something."

"I'm just glad you're making cinnamon rolls, I'm starving!"

"Well, until Souta and Hitomi arrive, you cannot have a thing." Sesshomaru mused, stacking the last bit of cooked sausage onto a plate. The bacon was resting with a paper towel over it in order to soak up excess oil, and the fruit was set out to be cut for smoothies and fruit bowls. Haru and Rin were quiet, serenely taking in the scene around them. Inuyasha made sure they were at a steady bounce, and fully put himself in charge of the music.

Kagome was slicing the last bit of pineapple when Souta marched into the kitchen, Hitomi in tow.

"Kags, can you give 'Tomi a tag for her car? I know we have to be under tight security but Tetsko and Ginta stopped the car before we even got to the codebox."

"oh of course," Kagome squealed, prompting a blush from the younger woman, "I'm sorry we didn't give you one earlier."

"We'd prefer that you let one of the guys on your team drive, but on the occasions that you are in your individual cars…" Sesshomaru hummed, opening a drawer near the hallway, pulling an extra security clearance tag from the depths. It was a simple enough design to remain inconspicuous while still identifiable. The tiny cloud and star symbols just looked like a cute decal, nothing more.

"Well, Sessh, we can't just send cars out all the time. That'll draw way more attention. Isn't the point of this to stay kinda lowkey?" Kagome's question lingered as she pulled plates down from the cabinet.

"She has a point," Inuyasha quipped, filling his plate high with cinnamon rolls and bacon, grabbing another plate for sausage and eggs before moving into the breakfast nook. Souta and Hitomi following suite and loading up their own plates and finding their seats at the table. Kagome carried Rin and Haru in at the same time, holding them in her arms as Sesshomaru followed with the infant chairs. Kagome settled them back into their seats as Sesshomaru went back into the kitchen to get their plates.

"oh Kagome, the twins are so cute!" Hitomi squealed, taking drink of the peach-mango smoothie Sesshomaru made.

"Thank you," Kagome smiled, taking in the now sleeping babies, "they're really beautiful kids. I think they'll be the most incredible people."

The table murmured their agreements and fell into more casual conversation as the meal continued. It was a morning full of laughter and an air of familial peace waving through as they enjoyed each other's company. It was like the drama had melted for the day. Sesshomaru wasn't worried about Shynah and Hiro's plans, he wasn't stressed about work or clients.

The peace drifting through the air lasted into the afternoon, Souta and Hitomi showing off Souta's new game to the group.

"Ya know, Dad would love this. He said some of the clients were begging for the newest, latest game." Inuyasha hummed, scrolling through his phone.

Kagome was holding Rin to her chest for a feeding, while using the ball of her foot to slowly rock Haru's baby bouncer. Sesshomaru watched as she continued to carry the conversation as she tended to their children. He was enamored, even more so than when he watched her create.

"Sessh," Inuyasha interrupted his thoughts, "Dad needs you to either come into the office tomorrow, or he's going to come over because apparently one of the clients is about to break contract.

"which is why he told you." Sesshomaru finished, "contracts are all your expertise. Which one is it?"

"uh," Inuyasha scrolled through his phone, "Delila."

Sesshomaru sighed, Delila was one of his most complicated and controversial clients. She made compelling music and had a massive cult following. She also routinely made headlines because of her fights with other singers, social media posts that stirred drama, and TMZ meltdowns. Image Productions and Belmonte Inc were always dealing with some problem or another with Delila's camp, and it seemed it was time for their annual dissection of the contracts.

"I wonder what she's done this time." Kagome hummed, switching from Rin latching for a feeding to Haru, passing Rin to Sesshomaru to be burped.

"Right? I haven't had any social media pings on her," Inuyasha checked again, "she's been quiet. Maybe she wants to renegotiate."

"Let's hope it is something so simple." Sesshomaru nodded, rubbing Rin's back.

Souta and Hitomi stood, "We're going to make dinner!" Hitomi squealed, "I just want to thank you both for everything that the two of you have done. And give you a break, you are new parents, you should be bonding and resting. Let us worry about dinner."

Souta smiled, "Yea, 'Gome, let us handle dinner. 'Tomi is a great cook."

Kagome smiled, holding Haru in a different position to rub his back, "Thanks guys. That's so sweet of you."

"We'll be back!"

Sesshomaru kissed the top of Rin's head before laying her onto his chest, pulling his briefcase from the side of the couch to a place where he could dig into its contents and pull out a pen and paper to write.

My beloveds,

You are in our arms. Right now, you are in our arms. Sitting on my chest as I write this is you, Rin. And Haru, you lay on your mother's chest. My days only grow in joy as they pass. My sweet baby girl, feeling your heartbeat is one of the greatest sounds I have ever heard. My son, the way you smile, mostly at your mother, is the single glow that lights up every room. It hasn't even been a week yet. And I only know this love to grow and the awe to expand. Watching you both grow, even in these few days, has been better than I could ever imagine.

My love eternally,

Daddy
