Deep in a dream, Marie was pouncing as a wolf on a bug. After looking up, she noticed a dark cloud hovering her way, and it was bringing about a terrible darkness. She ran away from it, great speed flowing in her legs, but it taught up to her. Now, she was drowning in the darkness. Up was down, left was right, she couldn't make sense of her direction. Soon, she couldn't fight anymore, and let herself sink down to the bottom. After looking up, she saw a bright light in the dark water she was in. A woman, with white angel wings and heavenly dress, flew down to her. She grabbed her now human hand, and lifted her up to SAVE her. Marie was afriad of leaving, and the angel understood. "I know you do not wish to leave." The woman murmured, and she was back in the darkness. After a minute, she could feel the water fill her lungs. She knew she was dying, but still wanted to keep fighting. She woke up, and her SOUL was weak. It was cracking. She gasped in shock and fear, and it begun to crack more. She felt Sans shaking near her, and her SOUL cracked more. And finally, it split in two, but didn't shatter. She saw it tremble through the pain, and it fused back again. She could hear everyone speaking in unison the same words. "BUT IT REFUSED." She was shaking with relief as the pain that enfolded her eased, and Sans' eyes returned. The darkness had, in fact, actually tried to kill her. She couldn't sleep the rest of the night, and walked outside to the courtyard. She decided to try and sing to calm herself down. Along with Toriel, she began to sing. "DETERMINATION to leave fills your heart, but I don't know if you're strong enough. It is a treacherous place outside, that's why I'm trying to close it up. Not the first to fall, but I hope you're the last. Once you leave me here, there's no coming back. Stay with me, my child! I will raise you as my own, my own! Refuse to let it take you, like it took all the rest. The nightmare too familiar, replays till nothing's left. Why wrap your heart in peril, when we could hide away? Refuse to let it take you, refuse to let it take you, so won't you stay? Won't you stay...?" She trailed off with the song, and fell asleep in the garden.
When Marie finally opened her eyes, she was back in her bed. She was shuttering and couldn't stop. After a bit of staring at the wall, Marie decided to finally get up, and brainstorm on how she had almost died from a dream. After walking to the desk in her borrowed room in the castle, she sat down and let her mind wander. After a bit, she heard a loud mewl. A meow? Marie looked all over the room, and couldn't find anything. She finally found a basket under the desk, and in it was a gray, silver, and white kitten. "AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW!" Marie cooed, and picked up the kitten. She noticed a note next to the basket. It said, "Well, I know you like cats, and you have been feeling down recently." It had Percy's name on it. She cuddled the kitten more, and she was stroking the kitten with care as if it was her baby. And it was. After a while of cuddling, Marie decided to name the little furball. "Sapphire!" She decided, naming the cat after her beautiful blue eyes. "What's going on?" Sans said, walking in. His eyes trailed over at the kitten, and he stiffened. Sapphire took a step forward. "STAY AWAY FROM ME, YOU FLEA BITTEN LUMP OF FUR SPAWNED FROM THE PITS OF HELL!" Marie looked at him and said, "Don't talk about my baby like that." "Well, you've gotta be Satan to have given birth to that hell spawn." Marie gave him a bewildered look, and shrugged. After walking out with her fur baby, Marie let the kitty on the ground, and Sapphire ran around, excited at her new surroundings. After looking up, she saw Indigo who had shapeshifted. Seing the new and truly majestic form they had taken, Marie and Sans could not help but laugh. Marie was on the ground laughing so hard she was crying, slamming the floor with her fist. Sans was almost doing the same, but he was clutching his stomach from laughing so hard. It took a few minutes before Marie could gasp out, "wHaT iS tHaT?!" After their laughing fit had cleared, Indigo said, "I was practicing my shapeshifting, and I seem to have gotten quite a reaction. How funny was it?" "Yes." Marie deadpan replied. After recovering from the giggle fit, Marie made her way outside, now in her battle dress. Sans went back into Marie's SOUL, and fell asleep right after. After seeing Percy out in the garden, she called out to her with a wave, but something was wrong. She didn't answer back. Worried, Marie made her way over to Percy, who was slumping and breathing heavy with her eyes closed, and found that a red and sticky liquid was pouring from her stomach.
