Chapter 29

"3...2..1" Glynda counted down, her and a group of Beacon's teachers standing outside of team CNEM's dorm room. Raven also joined them, standing off to the side with an unreadable expression on her face. It was obvious that some of the teachers felt uncomfortable with her presence but Raven couldn't care less, she only cared about saving her child.

Using her semblance, Glynda flung the dorm room open, everyone rushing inside. "What the hell!" Mercury shouted, looking angrily between the room's intruders. "What's going on?" Emerald asked. "Check the rest of the room!" Glynda ordered, a few teachers checking the closet and the bathroom. "No sign of her," a teacher reported. Raven stood at the back of the room, watching as the teachers arrested Emerald and Mercury who, knowing they had no chance of escaping, did not put up a fight. "Where's the other two members of your team?" Glynda questioned, receiving silence from the two. "Very well, please escort them to Beacon's detention center," Glynda requested.

"Hold up, what is this about, what did we do?" Emerald asked, feigning innocence. Glynda did not answer however, motioning for a few teachers to take them away. Once the teachers had taken Emerald and Mercury away, the only people left in the room where Glynda and Raven. "You weren't of much help," Glynda commented.

"It's not like there was much for me to do, the kids gave up without a fight and your fall maiden wasn't even here," Raven commented. "How true and strange, Miss Fall should have been here," Glynda commented, casting a suspicious glance at Raven's.

"What?" Raven asked, noticing Glynda's suspicious glare.

"I just find it weird that, as soon as you arrive, Cinder Fall disappears," Glynda said. "I had nothing to do with it, I would not endanger my chance at rescuing my child for her," Raven defended, finding it laughably easy to lie to the deputy headmistress. Glynda sighed, "I suppose not, anyways Ozpin will be expecting us, let's not keep him waiting." Glynda took one last look around the room before leading Raven to the headmaster's office.

"Ah, I trust that everything proceeded according to plan?" The headmaster asked when Glynda and Raven entered his office. "They did not, unfortunately, Miss Fall had escaped prior to our arrival," Glynda answered. "I see, thank you for the update, I'll have our staff review the security footage, hopefully, they'll be able to locate her," Ozpin said.

"Good luck with that, I guess I'll be on my way," Raven said, preparing to cut a portal to Summer and Qrow.

"Not so fast Raven, I believe we had an agreement," Ozpin said, his cane resting in his hands. "Ohh no Oz, I agreed to help you capture Cinder but she bailed before we got there, and I am not wasting my time searching for her," Raven said. 'You had an.." Glynda started, being interrupted by Ozpin. "It's alright Glynda, you are free to join Qrow and Summer, I'll call them and inform them of your arrival," Ozpin said. Raven didn't need to be told twice, quickly unsheathing her sword and cutting a portal to Qrow.

"Why did you do that sir?" Glynda asked, as soon as Raven exited the headmaster's office.

Ozpin chuckled, "Glynda, have you not learned to trust me by now?" the headmaster asked. "Of course I do sir, I just don't understand why you're letting her go. It's obvious that she tipped Miss Fall off, it was a mistake to have her assist us," Glynda answered.

"Maybe or maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see."

The flight from Beacon to Atlas was agonizing, all of the passengers losing their minds out of boredom. After a few days the group finally arrived at Atlas, landing at Atlas Academy's hanger and being met by General Ironwood. "It's good to see you James," Qrow greeted. Shaking the general's hand. "It's good to see you too, I just wish it was under better circumstances," Ironwood said, giving Qrow and Summer a friendly smile.

"Thank you for helping us, James," Summer thanked.

"It's my pleasure, I've always been suspicious of Jacques but I never expected him to do something like this," Ironwood said. One of Ironwood's eyebrows raised, when he took notice of the three teenagers standing behind Qrow and Summer. "You bright children with you?" Ironwood asked. "Yeah, Oz thought it would be a good idea if they tagged along," Qrow explained. Ironwood looked over the girls recognizing one of them to be Weiss Schnee. "Miss Schnee, what are you doing here?" Ironwood asked. "I'm here to assist Miss Rose and Mr Branwen in rescuing our team leader," Weiss answered.

"I see, I'm glad to hear it, now if you all would like to follow me I'll lead you to your rooms," Ironwood said. The group followed Ironwood through the academy, arriving at the student dorm rooms after only a few minutes. "We use these rooms for students during the Vytal Festival, however since Beacon is hosting the festival this year, the rooms will not be hosting any students. This will be your room for the duration," Ironwood said, motioning to the room. The room was fairly plain, a clean white color with a pair of bunk beds built into the wall. A couple of desks lined the walls and a single window sat on the far side of the room. "Go ahead and get settled in, I'll take you two to your room," Ironwood said, speaking to Summer and Qrow. "I must apologize in advance, the dorms we use for staff are at capacity, so you'll have to use a student dorm room," Ironwood apologized. The three arriving at the other side of the hallway.

"It's no trouble, we used to share a dorm room you know, it'll be like old times," Qrow said. "Anyways I doubt we'll be in here that much."

"That's fine, if you need anything please feel free to ask, do you have a plan?" Ironwood asked. "Yeah, we're going to sneak into the Schnee manor, with Weiss's help, we'll get into Jacques's office, find our baby girl, and maybe crack Jacques's skull open along the way," Summer answered. Ironwood was not surprised by Summer's answer, having heard of the woman's unwavering quest for her daughter. "I just ask that you attempt to not cause a ruckus," Ironwood requested, getting a small chuckle from Qrow. "We'll try," Qrow promised. A beep caught Ironwood's attention, causing him to check his scroll, "I need to go, I wish you two the best of luck," Ironwood said, walking away.

"What should we do now? Do you want to get some rest or should we go get the girls and start our mission?" Summer asked, feeling a bit tired from the long bullhead flight but wanting to save her child as soon as possible. "You look tired, let's go talk to Yang and the others, after we can take a nap," Qrow said, giving his wife a small smile.

"Okay," Summer agreed, following her husband to team -WBY's room.

"Come in," Yang called, after hearing a couple of knocks on her door, Summer and Qrow entered the room, both sitting down on the empty bed. "All right girls, we're going to go ahead and start our mission. Weiss, your father must have a main office or something?" Qrow asked. "He does," Weiss confirmed, "I've been in there multiple times, it's on the top floor of the eastern side of the mansion," Weiss said. "Weiss?" Summer asked, gaining the younger girl's attention. "Who is Zachery?" Summer asked. Weiss let out a deep sigh, "Zachery is my father's head of security, he's been with the family for multiple years. The only thing I really know about him is that he's a madman," Weiss said.

"Great," Summer muttered.

"Is something wrong" Weiss asked, noticing the nervous look on Summer's face. "I'm worried, Zachery has a grudge against me after I cut his hand off, what if he's hurting my baby girl?" Summer asked, the last part coming out as a whisper. Qrow put a comforting hand on his wife's back, getting an appreciative smile from the woman.

"We'll get her back," Qrow said.

"Yeah mom, we'll break into Weiss's dad's office, find out where they're keeping her, and break her out before the night is over," Yang said confidently. A quiet ding caught everyone's attention, Qrow pulling out his scroll and reading his newest message. "WHAT!" Qrow shouted, his voice full of hatred and venom. "What's wrong honey?" Summer asked, becoming concerned with her husband's sudden change. "Oz!" Qrow growled, handing Summer his scroll.

Hello Qrow, I hope your journey to Atlas was pleasant. I'm sending Raven to assist you, I understand that tensions must be high but I ask that you work with her, your goals do align. Thank you and good luck- OZ.

"Oh, I don't know about this," Summer said unsurely, reading over the message again. "Know about what?" Yang asked, noticing Summer glancing towards Qrow. Before either could answer a large red portal appeared in the corner of the room, Summer and Qrow launching to their feet with their weapons ready. "What's going on?" Blake asked, jumping up with Gambol Shroud pointed towards the strange red circle, joined by Yang and Weiss. The entire room tensed up when a figure stepped out of the red portal.

"Raven!" Qrow snarled, eyeing the woman with as much hate as he could muster.

"Brother," Raven responded, saying the word with as little affection as possible. The sudden sound of a gauntlet being activated caught Raven's attention, turning her head just in time to see a bright yellow blur coming straight for her. Raven was knocked back several feet, landing against the wall due to Yang's punch. "That was for Ruby!" Yang said, walking over to the downed woman and preparing to unleash a flurry of punches on her so-called mother. That was until a hand was placed on her shoulder.

"Yang you need to calm down," Weiss urged.

"Not after what she did to us, to Ruby!" Yang shouted, attempting to break free of Weiss's grasp. "Ha, ha, ha, nice hit Yang," Raven mocked. The temperature in the room suddenly started to rise, Yang's hair started to light up. With another shout, Yang broke free of Weiss's grasp, taking another step towards Raven. Yang was again stopped, this time by Qrow. "You need to calm down, Firecracker."

"Calm down? What are you talking about, she's the one who took Ruby away from us, you should be helping me!" Yang shouted, attempting to break away from Qrow, to little success. "I want to but we can't, Ruby needs us right now and if we waste our time fighting Raven, we'll only be hurting Ruby," Qrow explained. Yang seemed to get it, ceasing her struggles. "If you're done with your little temper tantrum, we can start," Raven said. "Why are you even here?!" Yang shouted. "Helping," Raven answered cryptically.

Yang scoffed, "I'm sure, we can't trust her!"

"We know that," Summer said, "Don't worry Yang, Qrow and I will keep an eye on her." Raven seemed to smile at that but said nothing, getting up off of the floor. "There better not be any funny business, you got it?" Summer asked threateningly, receiving a mocking salute from Raven. "So what's the plan?" Raven asked.

"We're going to sneak into the Schnee manor tonight, access Jacques's personal computer and find Ruby," Summer answered, expecting Raven to bash her plan and insult, like she had done when they were still students at Beacon, but to Summer's surprise she didn't, instead nodding in agreement. "All right girl's get some rest, I can already tell that tonight's going to be a hectic night," Qrow said, getting up to leave. "Come on Raven, there's no way I'm letting you stay in here," Qrow growled. Raven begrudgingly followed Qrow, noticing how Summer came up behind her. "Guess I'll be staying with you then," Raven shrugged, "doesn't make a difference to me."

A sudden force pushed Raven into the wall, turning her head, she found a very angry Summer behind her, "shut up!" Summer snarled, "I want you to listen and listen well, we're going to be getting our baby girl back tonight and if you even think about trying to take her away again, I'll make sure that it's the last thought that you'll ever have, clear?" Summer asked.

"Crystal," Raven answered, being freed from the wall after a moment, she followed Summer and Qrow until they reached their room, Raven choosing the top rightmost bunk. After a couple of minutes Summer and Qrow feel asleep, sleeping together in the bottom left bunk.

For the next couple of hours, Raven sat still a wide smirk on her face.
