Shoko and Izuku didn't let go of each other as they walked out the front door, escorted by their teachers and multiple police officers.
Behind them, Endeavor was being wheeled out on a gurney, headed for the ambulance already prepared for just this purpose.
Izuku and Shoko saw a second ambulance nearby, already receiving a vaguely human-shaped pile of meat that looked like Geretsuna if you squinted.
"Shoko!" a voice cried, "you're okay!"
The couple turned to see Mina rushing at them, and the rest of their classmates nearby starting to do the same.
Shoko felt the breath leave her lungs as the pink girl tackled her.
"Never scare us like that again, Shoko!" Mina demanded as she hugged the taller girl.
Returning the hug, Shoko replied, "I won't, I promise. Sorry for causing so much trouble."
"You're not the one who needs to apologize. It's your bastard of a father that caused all this," Mina pointed out.
"You're right," Shoko agreed, "but he got his punishment."
"Oh? What punishment was that?" Mina asked.
Shoko smirked as she answered, "Izuku beat his ass, Aizawa broke both his arms, Snipe shattered his kneecaps, and Midnight kicked him in the dick. It was awesome."
"Damn, sounds like he got what was coming to him! Hell yeah!" Mina offered her hand for Shoko to high-five.
As soon as she did, the rest of their class arrived, mobbing Shoko and Izuku in a group hug.
"You two are ridiculous!" Uraraka cried as she squeezed them tight.
"So you're pregnant? Congratulations!" Kirishima said, and several people echoed his words as he lifted Izuku off his feet in a bear hug and gently embraced Shoko.
Shoko looked at Mina, who was standing sheepishly off to one side.
"You told them?" she asked, even as Iida gave them his obligatory lecture on premarital sexual activity, then congratulated them anyway.
"Yeah, I did," Mina admitted, "after what happened, they deserved to know everything."
Shoko agreed, "You're right, Mina. And everyone...I'm sorry for keeping it from you all for so long."
"Shut up, Dekufucker," Bakugo snarled, "it's your shit, none of us deserve to hear it. If you needed us to come kill your piece-of-shit daddy, you'd have asked."
Shoko raised an eyebrow. "I appreciate the sentiment, I think," she said, "but what did you just call me?"
Bakugo's eye twitched as he replied, "You clearly fucked Deku, constantly and way too fucking much. That makes you a Dekufucker."
"I sure am," Shoko agreed, making Izuku choke behind her.
The class was saved from being traumatized by Midnight, who came over to them and said, "Alright, you guys, it's time to head back to UA. You've already missed pickup, and your parents are all waiting."
Everyone nodded, and started to head for the transports again. As Shoko and Izuku made to follow them, though, Midnight stopped them.
"Not you two. Todoroki, you're going to the hospital for precautionary exams," she said.
"But I'm not hurt!" Shoko protested, her old hatred of hospitals bubbling up again.
Midnight looked at her sternly. "Then why are you wincing and trying to hide your arm?" she asked.
Shoko felt Izuku staring at her without even having to turn around.
He asked, "Shoko, are you really hurt? Why wouldn't you tell us?"
Her eyes fell. "I'm not," she insisted, "it's nothing, really."
Midnight ordered, "Todoroki, show me your arm."
Reluctantly, Shoko complied, raising her arm for Izuku and Midnight to see.
The pink flesh in the shape of Endeavor's hand around her forearm was clearly visible.
Izuku hissed. "Shoko, you're burned!" he cried.
She muttered, "It's not that bad…"
"It isn't," Midnight agreed, "but you're still going to go get it checked out at the hospital. Besides, you've been under extremely high stress today, and that can be bad for pregnancies."
Shoko's blood went cold at the thought that she'd put her baby at risk. How had she been so stupid? She'd almost delivered herself straight to her father and given him what he wanted!
Her knees started to wobble; if Izuku hadn't arrived when he did…
She refused to think about it.
Judging by how Izuku's arm tightened around her, le knew it too, and didn't hold it against her.
She didn't deserve him, not in the slightest.
Instead of wallowing in bygone fears, Shoko listened as Midnight continued, "It seems like you're fine, but it never hurts to make sure. You haven't gotten an ultrasound or anything yet, right?"
Shoko shook her head. "No, I haven't," she answered.
Midnight nodded. "Well then, go ahead and hop in that last ambulance, and they'll get you over there. I'll come with you, and make sure you get a checkup while you're in the neighborhood," she said.
"What about me?" Izuku asked.
Midnight smiled and winked as she replied, "Oh, you're coming too. I don't think Shoko wants to be apart from you ever again, kid. Get used to showering together!"
Shoko and Izuku turned bright red as memories popped up.
Midnight saw them blush, and grinned. "Wait, you've already done that?" she said, "Wonderful! I'm glad to see such a cute young couple experimenting already. If you ever want to try something new, Miss Todoroki, I have a lovely pair of handcuffs I highly recommend-"
The identical stammering and blushes from Izuku and Shoko cut Midnight off, but she didn't mind. As she finally get them sitting down in the ambulance, Nemuri could see the gears turning in the girl's head, looking at her boyfriend and then back at Nemuri.
Oh, All Might's son was in for a shock soon, Nemuri could tell.
The drive to the hospital was quick; the EMT even gave Shoko a mild burn cream that helped take the edge off the pain she'd been feeling ever since the adrenaline of her rescue had worn off.
When the doors opened again, Midnight and Izuku came with her into the room she had been admitted to.
They had to wait outside while the doctors treated her burns and checked her over, but just knowing that the man she loved was close by did wonders for the crawling, twitchy feeling Shoko always got in hospitals.
None of the nurses reacted much to their famous patient; they were all older and clearly experienced. However, when she was asked about underlying medical conditions and she responded that she was pregnant, there were looks of surprise on a few of their faces, and one of them cooed.
Even the sternest nurse, a gray-haired woman with an unshakeable air about her, was smiling as they finished healing Shoko's arm and left.
As soon as the door closed behind them, it opened again as Izuku came back to her side.
"Are you doing better now?" he asked.
Shoko said, "Yeah. I'm just...still a little shaken up, I guess."
Izuku frowned. Taking Shoko's uninjured hand, he asked, "Do you want to talk about it?"
Shoko nodded. "It's just…" she began, "how can you forgive me so easily?"
Izuku looked confused. "What do you mean?" he asked.
With tears in her eyes, Shoko choked out, "I left you. I put myself and our baby in danger, and I wouldn't have made it out again if it wasn't for you and everyone else saving me. Why aren't you angry?"
Izuku was quiet for a long while, rubbing the pad of Shoko's thumb thoughtfully. Finally, he replied, "I could never be angry with you, Shoko. But beyond that...you were trying to protect me and my mom. You were a hero in that room, love, and I could never hate any hero, except your father."
Shoko snorted, but Izuku wasn't done.
Leaning in close, he lifted her chin until she met his eyes. "And not just that, you said it yourself, Shoko. We were there. Everything worked out in the end. You don't have to do things on your own. You will always have us there; you will never be alone again."
Shoko wished she had some heartfelt reply, some way to tell Izuku how much she loved him in that moment and every other. But she didn't.
So she kissed him instead, dragging him close as she tried to pour her feelings into the contact.
Unfortunately, they were rudely interrupted a minute later, by a woman in a long white coat entering the room.
"Hello, I'm Doctor Danryoku! You're Shoko, right?" the young doctor asked.
Shoko nodded.
"Great!" Danryoku said, "I'm an obstetrician, I was told you'd just been in a villain attack and wanted to make sure everything was still okay. Is that right?"
Shoko was taken aback by hearing her ordeal described as a villain attack, but she supposed that was a good way of looking at it.
"Yeah," she confirmed, "I haven't gotten to have a checkup yet, either."
The doctor said, "Well, why don't you and your husband come with me?"
Izuku opened his mouth to correct her, but Shoko grabbed him and started to follow the doctor before he could.
As far as she was concerned, it was only a matter of time before Izuku was her husband.
This doctor was just a little ahead of the curve.
Soon, Shoko found herself up on another examining table in a room with unfamiliar equipment.
Not long after the sensors had been placed on Shoko's belly, Danryoku asked, "This is your first appointment, right? When did you find out you were pregnant?"
"Yeah, this is my first one, and I found out...less than a week ago," Shoko responded.
"Well, congratulations are in order, then," the doctor said as she continued to stare at the monitor, "from this, it looks like you're between nine and ten weeks along."
"Is everything okay?" Shoko asked, "are there any problems you can see?"
"Nope," Danryoku replied, "everything looks perfect, they look very healthy."
There was dead silence in the room for a moment, as Shoko and Izuku looked at the doctor in confusion.
Izuku coughed. "I'm sorry, did I hear you right? They?"
Danryoku's eyes widened, and she let out a small laugh. "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that this was your first appointment!" she said.
Shoko couldn't breathe; her heart was pounding with disbelief.
The doctor turned the monitor around to face the couple. With a broad smile on her face, she said, "Shoko, you're having twins."
Shoko looked at the screen as Izuku started hyperventilating behind her.
"They're still small, so they don't look like much yet," Danryoku said, "but these are them, here. We can't tell gender yet, or whether or not they're identical, but they look exceptionally healthy and well-developed. Congratulations again!"
Shoko had to admit, the tiny gray blobs on the screen didn't look like much; she couldn't make heads or tails of them. But she didn't need to, as her heart filled with a burning love so strong she thought her body had caught fire again.
These were her children. She already decided that they were perfect, no matter what.
She clutched Izuku's hands tightly, and he did the same in return.
Finally, the doctor said, "Well, that's about it from me. I'll have someone in here to get you guys discharged soon, but I'll leave you two alone for a bit, yeah? I imagine you have some things to talk about."
A round of stammered thanks later, the woman vanished through the door.
Shoko and Izuku turned to each other, wearing identical silly grins.
"So," Shoko began, "twins."
Izuku nodded wordlessly. "Yeah," he said faintly, "twins."
"What, does One For All make you super fertile or something?" Shoko joked.
Izuku looked panicked as he replied, "For the love of God, don't even joke about that."
"Why not?" Shoko asked, "after all, I want to have as many kids with you as I can."
Izuku decided not to reply to that. Instead, he continued, "God, one kid would have been interesting enough, but twins? How are we going to do this?"
"Together," Shoko replied, spitting Izuku's own words back at him.
Izuku smiled as he said, "I guess you're right. We'll make it, just like we always do."
Shoko nodded, rising to her feet as she said, "I love them already, Izuku. We're going to be the best damn parents, I know it."
Izuku responded, "I know, Shoko. I love them too."
They stood there for a while, excited for the future.
Then, Izuku had a terrifying thought, and he went pale.
He said, "Aizawa's going to kill us, isn't he?"
Shoko pursed her lips, then nodded vigorously as she agreed, "Yeah, he really is."
They were prevented from commiserating on their terrifying teacher by the entrance of their other teacher.
"So," Midnight asked lightly, "how did it go? Any new surprises?"
Izuku and Shoko has a silent conversation with just their eyes.
"Should we tell her?" Izuku asked.
"Yes, it would be funny," Shoko argued.
"I don't know…" Izuku admitted.
"But think of how hilarious it will be!" Shoko said.
"Alright, fine," Izuku sighed.
Shoko turned to face Midnight and said nonchalantly, "Oh, nothing much. It turns out I'm having twins, though!"
Midnight goggled at them for a moment, then doubled over with laughter. She howled, "Of course you two had to make Aizawa's life even harder! Congratulations!"
When she finally had control of herself again, Midnight said, "Anyway, let's get out of here. Your families are waiting in the lobby."
They followed her out, relieved that the longest day of their lives was finally over.
When the three reached the lobby, Izuku and Shoko were instantly assailed by a green blur.
"I'm so glad you're safe!" Inko cried, wrapping them into a bear hug.
"Good to see you too, Mom," Izuku gasped; Shoko just smiled and enjoyed the warmth of the hug.
Meanwhile, Midnight watched them fondly; she was glad that two kids like this had families to support them.
She turned and left the group to heal.
When Inko finally released them, Shoko turned to her family and said, "Hey, guys."
Shoko's siblings and mother mobbed her instantly.
Rei said, "We heard about what happened from Nezu. I can't believe that bastard did that to you."
Shoko didn't say anything; she just clung to her family to reassure herself.
They were here, they were real, they were free.
Shoko had helped them after all.
She finally replied, "I know. But it's over now."
At last, they let her go. No more words needed to be said; the looks of relief on their faces were enough.
Rei said, "Let's get you and Izuku home, you must be exhausted."
"I'm sure," Inko agreed, "and I've got your bed prepared. You two never have to be apart again."
Shoko gave thanks for Inko Midoriya and her incredible understanding.
Then, she remembered that she had news.
"Oh, by the way, I'm having twins," Shoko said.
Their families stared at them for a second. Then, Rei started to laugh.
"Oh, I should have guessed!" she said in excitement as Fuyumi, Touya, Natsuo, and Inko stared at her in varying stages of shock or excitement.
"What do you mean?" Shoko asked.
Smiling, her mother told her, "It figures that you'd be like me. I'm pretty sure I was the first woman in generations of my family to not have at least one set of twins. You're continuing a wonderful tradition, Shoko."
Shoko knew how rarely her mother talked about her family; she accepted the scrap of information gratefully, and didn't ask for more.
For once, being like her mother was the best thing Shoko could think of.
As they finally left the hospital behind, Shoko was herded by her sister and both her and Izuku's mothers, while Natsuo and Touya dropped back to speak with her fiancé.
She overheard Natsuo say, "Tell us what happened to Endeavor. He better not have gotten off lightly after the shit he just pulled."
Izuku replied, "He got arrested by Nezu himself, but the court date's gonna be a while away."
"Why?" Touya asked.
Izuku grinned as he answered, "The flaming bastard has to recover from two broken arms, a broken nose, shattered rib cage, losing his kneecaps, and getting kicked in the dick by Midnight first."
There was a beat of silence, and then Natsuo and Touya roared with laughter.
Touya gasped, "Holy shit, that's the best . I knew heroes were good for something!"
Natsuo was laughing too hard to comment.
Then, Touya said, "Oh, and Midoriya, I'd like to change my earlier threat."
"What do you mean?" Izuku asked.
Touya replied, "I can't kill you if you break Shoko's heart now, because it would make your mom sad, and she's the best. She might stop cooking for us if I killed you, so I'll just settle for maiming instead."
Izuku looked at him, conflicted.
On the one hand, fewer standing threats of murder were great. On the other hand, everything else about that statement scared him.
Then, Inko called back, "Don't you worry, Touya! If he lets Shoko get away from him, I'll kill him myself!"
Touya replied, "That's why you're the best, Ms. Midoriya!"
"Inko, dear," Izuku's mother told him, "after all, once these two get married, we'll be family!"
Izuku gulped.
Why did his mom get along so well with an ex-serial killer?
That night, on the way home from the hospital, three different conversations occurred.
IcyThot: So, I just got out of the hospital.
Badacid: OMG, everything ok?
IcyThot: Yeah, everything's fine.
Badacid: Good. I'd hunt down ur bitch of a father and break more of his bones if he hurt u.
IcyThot: I appreciate it. I did find out something else though.
Badacid: Are u medically diagnosed with Horny now?
IcyThot: No, and please stop using 200-year-old memes.
Badacid: No.
IcyThot: I guess you don't want to know what my surprise is, then.
Badacid: WAIT I'LL STOP
IcyThot: That's what I thought.
Badacid: Okay, now what's ur surprise?
IcyThot: I'm pregnant.
Badacid: I already knew that…
IcyThot: With twins.
Badacid: WHAT?
Badacid: Holy shit, u really are going to have an army of kids with Midoriya.
IcyThot: That's the plan.
Badacid: Holy shit I just thought of something
IcyThot: What?
Badacid: Now Uraraka and I can BOTH be the cool aunt!
Young Izuku: Hey, All Might, sorry for not calling earlier, Shoko just got discharged from the hospital.
Toshinori: It's quite alright, my boy. How is she doing?
Young Izuku: She's doing well. She's still pretty shaken up, but we've talked it out some. She'll be okay.
Toshinori: I'm glad to hear it. I hope that Endeavor got what he deserved.
Young Izuku: He did.
Toshinori: Then all is right in the world once more.
Toshinori: I do have a question, though.
Young Izuku: Of course! What is it?
Toshinori: When Shoko was taken today, you reacted more strongly than I've ever seen from you. May I ask why?
Young Izuku: Do you promise not to be angry at me?
Toshinori: My boy, I could never be angry at you.
Young Izuku: Shoko's pregnant with twins
Young Izuku: We just found out a few days ago
Young Izuku: She was so scared of what her father would do if he found out
Young Izuku: Even though I'm still so far from being a hero, I want this with her so bad
Young Izuku: I know I'm a bad successor for not staying focused on my goal. I know I'm being selfish
Young Izuku: I'm sorry if I've disappointed you.
Toshinori: My boy.
Toshinori: I'm so happy for you. Congratulations!
Young Izuku: You're not disappointed?
Toshinori: Why would I be? I'm going to be a grandfather!
Young Izuku: But what about being a hero?
Toshinori: Do you intend to drop out of UA?
Young Izuku: Of course not!
Toshinori: Then I don't see the problem. My boy, you will be a hero.
Toshinori: Don't forget, you already are.
Young Izuku: What do you mean?
Toshinori: Even if you had done nothing else, today, you stood in front of a monster wreathed in flames and told him he would never hurt another person.
Toshinori: That makes you a hero, and it's not even the first time you've saved Shoko.
Toshinori: Never forget that.
Young Izuku: Thank you, All Might.
Toshinori: Anytime, my boy.
Young Izuku: Actually, I have something else I want to ask.
Toshinori: Fire away.
Young Izuku: If one of the kids is a girl
Young Izuku: Can we name her Nana?
Toshinori: That is a wonderful idea, my boy! I love it!
Young Izuku: Thanks! And...
Young Izuku: If we have a boy...can we name him after you?
Toshinori: My boy…
Young Izuku: I'm sorry for asking, it was a silly idea, just forget about it
Toshinori: I would be honored beyond belief.
Young Izuku: You like it?
Toshinori: I do, my boy. I do not believe I deserve such a thing.
Young Izuku: Of course you do!
Toshinori: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You'll be an incredible hero.
Young Izuku: I owe it all to you, Dad.
Toshinori: Nonsense, all I did was give you the tools. You had the heart all along.
Toshinori: Now, stop worrying about this old man. Your girlfriend is waiting for you!
Young Izuku: She's my fiancé now, actually.
Toshinori: Wonderful! I knew you were going to do it eventually!
Toshinori: My offer to walk her down the aisle for you still stands, by the way.
Young Izuku: I think we might take you up on that.
Midnight: I HAVE NEWS!
Eraserhead: Are my kids ok?
Midnight: They're much better than ok, Shouta!
Eraserhead: Oh god, what have you done
Midnight: I didn't do anything, Shouta. It was all Shoko and Izuku.
Eraserhead: Damnit, woman, stop teasing! What are you talking about?
Midnight: I refuse to stop teasing, but fine.
Midnight: Shoko's got a double package.
Eraserhead: That better not mean what I think it means.
Midnight: It does.
Eraserhead: FUCK
Midnight: You ready for twins in your class, sleepyhead?
Eraserhead: THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING
Eraserhead: NO
God: YES!
Eraserhead: …
Midnight: …
Eraserhead: Nezu, just because you're the only one who can change your name here doesn't let you inflict the fear of divine punishment on me.
God: It does, actually.
Eraserhead: I hate you.
God: I know.
Midnight: Nezu, how do you feel about our favorite couple double-dipping?
God: It's my favorite thing to happen since watching Enji Todoroki have his existence ended today.
God: And that was very enjoyable.
Eraserhead: Gonna agree with that one.
Midnight: Now that we've got the good news, I want to know! What quirks do you think the problem children children will have?
Eraserhead: I will not even think about that question.
God: Actually, I have already calculated what their quirks will be with approximately 99.8% accuracy. In the interest of preserving Shouta's sanity, though, I will not share my conclusions.
Eraserhead: Joke's on you, I went insane years ago.
